Jesus Christ, Firstborn
Isaiah 41:4
Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last I am he.
Book of Mormon
Alma 31:24-38
New Testament "What Wilt Thou Have Me To Do?"
Acts 9:1-22

General Conference
Behold the Lamb of God
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
"Brother and sisters, this hour ordained of the Lord is the most sacred hour of our week. By commandment, we gather for the most universally received ordinance in the Church. It is in memory of Him who asked if the cup He was about to drink could pass, only to press on because He knew that for our sake it could not pass. It will help us if we remember that a symbol of that cup is slowly making its way down the row toward us at the hand of an 11 or 12 year old deacon."

After scriptures and prayers I put on my big girl shoes and went upstairs to clean. James was a big help. He helped me put sheets on the beds and he cleaned the toilets and the bathtubs. He also did some vacuuming and moved the Noah's Ark onto the shelf by the stairs so no more pieces will get broken.

Randomly while I was cleaning I would take a break and come down and watch a little of "Marrying Father Christmas."

Adam and friends arrived somewhere between 1 and 2. Kaitlin said hi and then went upstairs to take a nap.. Adam said she has had a hard week because she broke up with her boyfriend.

The first thing Adam, Kyle and Chris did was go upstairs to play video games. They found some bat poop on the couch. Darn! I thought I got rid of it all! Now they are concerned about bats. I told them bats only come when they have a food source and we had tried to get rid of all the moths and bugs. Well then of course they kept finding moths.  Later Adam saw a bat in the garage and he assumed that was the bat in the house and it had left. Anyway, we never saw any more bats or bat "sign." We did see a few moths and everytime Kaitlin saw one she would have one of the guys come and kill it for her. I told them waht Addy said when she was here and there was a bat. Trina was very nervous and Addy said, "Will they kill you?" Trina said no and then Addy said, "Well what's the big deal?" She is definitely Darrel's daughter!

I had wanted to go to town today to get a few groceries but James said he couldn't go and so I forgot about it. Later this evening he decides he needs to go to get some of the medication this new doctor asked him to get for his laryngitis. At first I said it was too late and then he said, "I'll buy you something to eat." That gets me every time.

After doing a little shopping at Walmart my "something to eat" came from Taco Bell. That's fine. I got a taco and a double tostado. I think it was a double tostado because it had both lettuce and tomatoes. It was certainly not double in any other way. James didn't eat because the doctor said he should stop eating five hours before going to bed.

I had a nice visit with Adam for about an hour today, just the two of us. something I don't get to do very often.

James got someone to work for him at the temple tomorrow but I decided that I am well enough to go.

Happy Anniversary to the Heyman's

Jesus Christ, Divine Sonship
3 Nephi 5:13, 26
13 Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the So of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
26 And then shall they know their Redeemer, who is Jesus Christ, the Son of God; and then shall they be gathered in from the four quarters of the earth unto their own lands, from whence they have been dispersed; yea, as the Lord liveth so shall it be. Amen.

General Conference
"Women and Gospel Living in the Home"
President Henry B. Eyring
"You will each find ways to contribute to the outpouring of truth upon your families in the Lord's restored Church. Each of you will pray, study, and ponder to know what your unique contribution will be. But this I now: each of you, equally yoked with sons of God, will be a major part of a miracle of gospel learning and living that will hasten the gathering of Israel and will prepare God's family for the glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ."

I had a Relief Society meeting this morning and lunch date at Licano's with Tamara, Kerri, and Maxine. They gave us a private room in the back for privacy. Kerri brought her laptop and had picked out some YouTube videos for our Relief Society birthday celebrations next Tuesday night. Our activities committee is not functioning very well and Sister Nichols (Brienna) has been doing most of the planning by herself.

Kerri had a video made by the Spokane Washington stake Relief Society called "Sisters to the Rescue." It was a little light-hearted, and funny but maybe that's what the sisters need. She said she was also going to show a video of the history of Relief Society.

I had my usual lunch, a chicken enchilada with red sauce and rice and beans. Not as good as LaCasita's, but still good.

It was a good meeting and we stayed for a couple of hours before closing with prayer.

I stopped at Safeway because James asked me to get him some Slimfast shakes and then went on to the Show Low post office to mail the merchant fulfilled book we sold, "Rebecca." As I was waiting in line someone behind me asked a question and as I turned around to answer I discovered it was my brother Dennis. What a pleasant surprise. Dennis was there to pick up his mail because the mail person had not delivered to his house because of the snow. He was pretty disgusted and was going to issue a complaint. I guess he has an ongoing battle going on with his mail person, who by the way, is a woman.

I went by the bank and deposited some cash that James gave me from the Chacon job. I had to go inside because I do not have a debit card for the Lambson Construction account.

I was gone several hours and James was getting a little worried. I think it was four o'clock when I got home.

I inventoried books for three hours in order to fill up our box which we want to mail tomorrow. The box will weigh around 50 lbs.

Lois got to go home today because her blood pressure and heart rate stabilized. We are so grateful. They changed her blood pressure medicine so she has to take less pills and she is very happy about that.

Jesus Christ Atonement through
3 Nephi 27:15
And for this cause have I been lifted up; therefore, according to the power of the Father I will draw all men unto e, that they may be judged according to their works.
Book of Mormon
Mormon 8:26-41
Generations are affected by the choices you make. Your decisions today determine your destiny. In a day when some people might be inclined to abandon faith in the face of great difficulties, Moroni's words teach us to see miracles and revelations as evidence that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Although the spiritual and social conditions in the world may be in a state of constant change and decline, God's covenant people can have full confidence that He is eternally the same.
Doctrine Covenants Favorite Scriptures
DC 15:6
And now, behold, I say unto you, that the thing which will be of the most worth unto you will be to declare repentance unto this people, that you may bring souls unto me, that you may rest with them in the kingdom of my Father. Amen.
General Conference
Seek Ye Out of the Best Books
Elder Ian S. Arden
"Zeezrom's actions and words were a snare of the adversary, which he...laid to catch the people, that he might bring them into subjection unto him, that he might encircle them about with his chains" (Alma 12:6). Those same snares exist today, and unless we are spiritually vigilant and build a sure foundation on our Redeemer, we may find ourselves bound with Satan's chains and being led carefully down the forbidden paths spoken of in the Book of Mormon."

We read this from "Life Everlasting" today: "We will, when we are in the Spirit World be able to move quickly to anywhere we want to go in time or space. We will be able to see with our entire bodies, we will be able to learn many things at once and we will have an increased ability to remember what we learn." Wow!

James made a trip to town today to get another hose for the tractor.
He bought me tacos but he forgot to pick them up. He also took my debit card so he could get cash back to go to the dump tomorrow but he forgot to use it and used the credit card instead. I got an unexpected phone call while James was gone. When President Shumway's name showed up on my phone I thought he was going to ask me to speak in the upcoming conference. I was relieved that he only wanted to talk with me and then wanted me to speak with Elder Heyman.  Elder Heyman said he hoped he would be able to see us at the conference. I asked him if Dianne was coming and he said she would not be. It was such a great surprise!

When James returned home I made him some lunch with the Thanksgiving leftovers. I worked on my steps, blogged, talked to Stacy on the phone and watched Christmas movies this afternoon while James worked outside. He also washed the windows by the Christmas tree both inside and out for me. He also made the bed this morning.

What a guy!

Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple

1 Nephi 17:1-16
1.  Why did Nephi feel so blessed in spite of their suffering?
2.  How has the Lord been your light in the wilderness?
2 Nephi 21-24
DC 11:11-21
What are some ways we can seek Christ to obtain better understanding and knowledge to guide us to do His will?
GC: 'Gratitude on the Sabbath Day' by President Henry B. Eyring
"Just as we sometimes cannot see the results of our own service given on the Sabbath, we may not be able to see the cumulative effects of other servants of the Lord.  But the Lord is building
His kingdom quietly through His faithfu and humble servants,
with little fanfare, towards its glorious millenial future.
It takes the Holy Spirit to see the growing grandeur."

Breakfast delivery from James before he went to work this morning.

I did some laundry and caught up on my General Conference reading.  At lunch time James came home to take me to Jersey Mike's.

I could tell he was a little stressed because he forgot his coupon and blamed me for not bringing it.  I remember him mentioning it this morning but I had no idea where it was.

After lunch, James went back to work to fix a broken water line.  Is there anything worse in the construction business than plumbing problems?

I went shopping at DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) and Deseret Book.
One of these pair of shoes is very comfortable and the other one is rubbing a blister on my heel.  Can you guess which is which?

The first book here I bought for James to read as a resource for teaching Church History and the Doctrine and Covenants in his gospel doctrine class.  The second one is the book I started reading at Jared's and decided I wanted my own copy.  The third one is the book James and I are currently reading together.  I bought the first two today at Deseret Book.

James's treat from Deseret Book
I had a diet orange creme soda and one small truffle.

Before leaving office Obama sent $221 million dollars to the Muslims.  Trump was not happy about it.

This afternoon I took a nap, studied, and worked on my blog.  Cathi is still in Las Vegas and Terry is gone to the ROC and James is at work.  As he was turning a shut-off valve it broke off and blew 80 pounds of water pressure all over him.  He said he was freezing cold but had to stay to fix the problem.

At 4:30 I left with Sheri and Evan to go to Evan's flag football practice.  It was cold!  Sheri and I finally went back to sit in the car.  I got home at 6:45 and James was still gone.  I am a little hungry so I eat my leftover steak from last night, to tide me over until James comes home and we can get some dinner.

When James finally gets home he takes a shower and we head for Serranos even though it is after 8 pm.  Hey, it's taco Tuesday.

I ordered a chicken taco with a side of beans and rice but it ended up being a beef taco.  Oh well.

Kim and Brian came over this evening and gave James a $50 gift card to Olive Garden for his birthday.  Oh boy!

Thursday, February 13, 2014

It was fun to spend the day with James when it was so unexpected.  We shared our notes for 2 Nephi 15, 16, and 17, some of the Isaiah chapters in the Book of Mormon.  There is so much symbolism involved in the writings of Isaiah.  I learned from reading Brother Ridges commentary that 2 Nephi 16 is symbolic of the Atonement and how it helped Isaiah prepare for his calling as a prophet.

James and I went into town and had lunch at Grumpy Jakes BBQ.  I loved their BBQ sauce and my brisket sandwich and the coleslaw.  Definitely going back when Sheri comes up in March.

We stopped at Book Barn and got journals for our Book of Mormon writings.  I came home and found an Angel Moroni journal online and ordered two.  I will use the one I got at the Book Barn for notes on General Conference.  It's purple.  I also stopped at Walmart to get some candy for the sisters that I visit teach.

When we returned home I moved 16 cans downstairs and paid some bills, and did some blogging.  I also watched Downton Abbey with James.
