Jesus Christ, Lord
2 Nephi 28:5
And they deny the power of God, the Holy One of Israel; and they say unto the people: Hearken unto us, and hear ye our precept; for behold there is no God today, for the Lord and the Redeemer hath done his work, and he hath given his power unto men;

April General Conference
"Sharing the Message of the Restoration and the Resurrection"
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
Perhaps it goes without saying that despite genuine love and sincerity, many, if not most, of our invitations to share the message of the Restoration will be declined. But remember this: everyone is worthy of such an invitation - "all are alike unto God";the Lord is pleased with every effort we make, no matter the outcome; a declined invitation is no reason for our association to end; and a lack of interest today may well turn to interest tomorrow. Regardless, our love remains constant.

James's neck and should pain is still apparent. I gave him a good rub down with Deep Blue and then went downstairs and found a heating pad for him to use.

I spent the early morning reviewing my notes on the "Come Follow Me" lesson for this week and recording them on one page in my gospel study notebook. I've divided one page up into four sections; The Church manual, Book of Mormon Central, Teaching with Power, and "Don't Miss This."
Sketchy but meaningful to me

In spite of his pain James gets up to make a cobbler for our "CFM" group meeting today. James is the King of Cobblers. He tried a new recipe, somewhat, but still used a yellow cake mix and a can of cherry pie filling. He kept coming in and asking me questions, it was so cute. Of course he used some almond extract as he always does.
The cobbler turned out delicious, the Crane's and I both loved it.

The Crane's were the only ones who came today. Both the Peeler's and the Goodman's are out of town. We had a great discussion and I shared with them my review of President Nelson's last conference addresses and what he as a prophet has asked us to do. Here are the notes I took:
What is our prophet telling us today?
"If we are prepared we shall not fear."
Prepare to meet our Maker. Strive daily to become like Him.
Daily Repentance - Stand in Holy Places.
Hear Him. Change our hearts, Follow the Lord Jesus Christ,
Remember Him, do our best to restore the correct name of the Lord's Church and the Lord will pour down His power  and blessings upon the heads of the Latter-day Saints, the likes of which we have never seen. I renew that promise today.
The new symbol of the Church indicates that this is the Savior's Church. All we do centers on Jesus Christ and His gospel.
We need to fast and pray for this pandemic.
We must remember our covenants.
We need to Hear His Son and Hearken and Heed His words.
Where can we hear Him?
In the scriptures. Daily immersion is critical for our spiritual survival.
We Hear Him in the temple. If we can't attend the temple we need to be involved in family history research and indexing.
We Hear Him as we refine our ability to recognize the whisperings of the Holy Ghost.
We Hear Him as we hear the words of prophets.
Personal revelation is key to our survival.
Go Forward in Faith.
We need to make our homes sanctuaries.
President Nelson left us an apostolic blessing:
Peace and increasing faith in the Lord. I bless you with a desire to repent and become a little more like Him each day. I bless you to know that the Prophet Joseph Smith is the prophet of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness.
In regards to the Restoration Proclamation:
"What will happen as you more intentionally hear, hearken, and heed what the Savior has said and what He is saying now through His prophets? I promise that you will be blessed with additional power to deal with temptation, struggles, and weakness. I promise miracles in your marriage, family relationships, and daily work. I promise that your capacity to feel joy will increase even if turbulence increases in you life.
The Lord loves effort."
I love President Russell M. Nelson and I know he is the Lord's prophet today.

We Facetimed with Jared, Kacey and Charlie. The first thing Charlie wanted was to see Luna so I grabbed a couple of carrots and James went outside to whistle for her. She immediately came, but she was not running. She wanted to go towards her corral even though we were on the front porch. She finally came and Charlie got to see her eat her carrots. Charlie said she wants to ride her. I told her she needed to come and see us and she could ride Luna. When it was time to go, she said, "Goodbye Luna."

Stacy has some health issues that she shared with us and asked for our prayers. Here are her words:
I got my cat scan results back and it wasn't great so now I need an MRI. I am not doing well. Please pray for me. I have a large cyst on my pancreas and multiple symptoms of pancreatitis. Also enlarged liver. Most cysts are benign but some can be pre-cancerous or even malignant. It hurts all the time and I can't digest food properly. Also I get itchy sometimes and my bilirubin levels are a bit off. No jaundice, however I did have yellow eyes about 3 months ago. All are symptoms.

I looked up pancreatitis and it says an inflammed pancreas usually due to heavy alcohol drinking or gall stones.

Kim is still having squeezing sensations in her head and dizziness. She has not been able to drive or do her job all week. At one point Brian had to come and rescue her when she tried to drive.

Our family seems to be going through lots of health issues and other trials lately. We need to put our trust in the Lord and exercise great faith.

Sheri did not attend our study group because she said she threw her back out yesterday cleaning Alex's room in preparation for Ben's return.

We discussed the first session of the April General Conference. It took two Zoom sessions to cover all of the talks. One of the favorites was Elder James R. Rasband's talk, "Enduring a Righteous Judgment." We loved all of the talks but his stood out as he talked about the doctrine of Christ and what our lives would be like without the Book of Mormon. Kim said this quote from Sister Jones's talk was perhaps her all-time favorite conference quote:
"Women wear many hats, but it is impossible, and unnecessary, to wear them all at once. The Spirit helps us determine which work to focus on today."

This evening after our Lambson Study Group James and I both wrote letters to Ben.

Jesus Christ, Lord
Revelation 22:21
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Book of Mormon/"Come Follow Me"
Helaman 12 - Men are unstable and foolish and quick to do evil - The Lord chastens His people - The nothingness of men is compared with the power of God - In the day of judgment, men will gain everlasting life or everlasting damnation. About 6 B.C.

"The Finest Homes"
Elder L. Whitney Clayton
Third, fine homes follow the blueprint created by the Lord for His finest home, the temple, Building a temple begins with basic steps - clearing brush and leveling land. Those initial efforts to ready the ground might be compared to keeping the basic commandments. The commandments are the foundation on which discipleship is built. Steady discipleship leads us to become firm, steadfast, and immovable, like the steel framework for a temple. This steady framework allows the Lord to send His Spirit to change our hearts. Experiencing a mighty change of heart is like adding beautiful features to the interior of a temple.

Restoration Proclamation paragraph Aug 23-29
We affirm that under the direction of the Father and the Son, heavenly messengers came to instruct Joseph and re-establish the Church of Jesus Christ. The resurrected John the Baptist restored the authority to baptize by immersion for the remission of sins. Three of the original twelve Apostles - Peter, James, and John - restored the apostleship and keys of priesthood authority. Others came as well, including Elijah, who restored the authority to join families together forever in eternal relationships that transcend death.

James woke up with a horrible pain in his neck and shoulder. I massaged it with Deep Blue which seemed to help a little.  In spite of his pain he went out and worked on the fence.  When I called him in for lunch he came and we had scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits with apricot-mango jam, and avocado. His teeth are still bothering him so he has a hard time eating. So many ailments!

I did my gospel study this morning and then worked on my blog and my next shipment of books. I got all of the books inventoried and all but four cleaned. Alex gave me two of his textbooks and they are included in this shipment. I could make $20 if I sell them both.

When I asked James what the plans were for fixing Lexy he said he had a long talk with Erik. First, Erik says it will cost at least $3,500 to fix and he can't do it for a month because he is so busy. He thinks because the car has over 300,000 miles on it that we are wasting our money by fixing it. He thinks we can get another car for less mileage and be better off. My heart was pretty sad when I heard this. I do not want a car payment but I do need a reliable car. James also needs a reliable truck. I think maybe for right now I should see if Barbara would sell me her car. I think she would give me a better deal than I could get anywhere else and it gets good gas mileage. I don't know what we will do with Lexy. Keep her for the time being I guess.

Kathy Crane gave us 14 ears of corn from their garden, a couple of tomatoes, a cucumber and a zucchini. I shucked all of the corn and put it in freezer bags. The instructions I looked up for freezing corn said there was no need to blanch it, so I didn't.

I made chili for dinner using some of the beans I cooked last weekend. I thought it was a little hot, maybe because of the Rotelle or green chilies, but James loved it.

I sold three books today.

I'm pondering one paragraph a week from the
Restoration Proclamation until the next
General Conference.

Jesus Christ, Lord
Revelation 17:14
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Book of Mormon/"Come Follow Me"
Helaman 11 - Nephi persuades the Lord to replace their war with a famine - Many people perish - They repent, and Nephi importunes the Lord for rain - Nephi and Lehi receive many revelations - The Gadianton robbers entrench themselves in the land. About 20-6 B.C.
"Teaching with Power"
April General Conference
"Come and Belong"
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Jesus the Christ, though He is "the King of kings," the Messiah, "the Son of the living God," does care deeply about each and every one of God's children. He cares regardless of a person's position - how rich or poor, how imperfect or proven someone is. During His mortal life, the Savior ministered to all: to the happy and accomplished, to the broken and lost, and to those without hope. Often, the people He served and ministered to were not individuals of prominence, beauty, or wealth. Often, the people He lifted up had little to offer in return but gratitude, a humble heart, and the desire to have faith.

"Spiritually Defining Moments"
Elder Neil L. Andersen

Addy texted me this morning and thanked me for the birthday card we sent and I wished her a happy birthday.

James has problem with the two houses in Mesa. Alberto Gardea was supposed to dig the trench for the electrical line. He hit a gas line and a water line and said he was finished. Some places needed to be hand dug and he refused to do that. Anyway, now Armando and James are left to deal with the inspector who failed the first inspection. He will be back again on Tuesday to see if they are ready.

My big "to do" today was to clean upstairs, the kitchen including the refrigerator and floors, and vacuum, and dust the TV room and fireplace room, better known as the family-living room area. Stacy, Paul, and Joshua were supposed to come up tonight. Stacy wants to do my eyelashes. She called this afternoon and said they wouldn't be coming until next weekend. Next weekend is Labor Day and they will come on Friday and go home on Monday. I hope they realize that the traffic going home is terrible on Labor Day weekend.

James went to town today and I stayed home and watched an Up channel movie called "Tomboy." I really liked it. I guess I felt like I could take a break since I had no deadline on my cleaning. I am really good at putting things off. James left so late that the post office was closed so no books today. He did mail a return for me and a merchant fulfilled book.

We went on a Razr ride late this afternoon. James wanted to look for the Harris cave. Dave Elkins, our new part-time neighbor gave him directions and he drove right to it. He went down in to the cave while I waited for him. There was no way I was climbing into that tiny hole. He said he walked about 80 yards and the ceiling wasn't high enough for him to stand up in. Doesn't sound like the ice caves we went in near Ramah years ago. We could stand up and look at the ice formations in the big rooms.

On the way home we got some great sunset pictures. We also went to "The Ranch" which is probably less than a mile from our house but it is hidden in the trees. It used to be a recreation area and campsite. There were little log cabins set out all through the trees. It was like visiting a ghost town.

Luna was waiting for us when we got home. She walks behind James as he leads her to the stall where he feeds her and she nudges him along. She is quite the horse!

Happy Sweet 16 Addy!

Love this!
