Jesus Christ, Glory of
DC 110:3
His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:

General Conference
Exercising Our Spiritual Muscles
Elder Juan Pablo Villar
"I bear my witness that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father. His Son, Jesus Christ, loves us He came to this world to show us the way and then gave His life voluntarily to give us hope. The Savior invites us to follow His perfect example, to exercise our faith in Him and His Atonement, and to expand all the spiritual gifts that we have been blessed with. He is the way. This is my testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

This is the one time of the year that James sometimes gets up before I do. He goes out and blows his elk call. If any answer close by he puts on his camos and takes off with the camera and binoculars.

We read Galatians 4 today as part of our scripture study. I did not know that Ishmael represents the Law of Moses and Isaac represents Abraham and the Law of Christ.

James goes upstairs to work after scriptures and his big breakfast. I guess he doesn't like the fact that I always have the fan on at the dining room table.

I sold a book today, did some research and buying, and repriced some books. I finished my walking by 5:30 because we are watching the Grapp kids tonight and I won't be able to walk once they get here. I had 15,000 steps by 5:30.

Sister Dye passed away around 3 a.m. this morning. James got a text from her granddaughter Tanna.

We watched all the Grapp kids, including baby Leland while Thomas and Cammy went to work on their barn. I guess that's their idea of a date, something they can do alone together.

The girls had horse jumping lessons in Star Valley today so Benson had alot of pent up energy. He had his own little nerf gun war going on. Liana was a huge help with Leland. She changed diapers and made sure he was happy.

Tildy was a little subdued. She fell off her horse today and was pretty quiet. Thank goodness she had a helmet on.

I made some popcorn and we watched "When Hope Calls."
Emsley just turned six and she is the best little TV watcher. She sat on my recliner seat and never moved while James fed her M&M's and I made her popcorn.

It was a fun-filled evening. The girls played Barbies and Calico Critters, and Emsley and I colored.  When Thomas and Cammy got home Liana had stripped Leland down to his diaper because she thought he was hot. I think Cammy was a little miffed but he was happy after being a little fussy.

The kids all gave us a hug when they left and Emsley said: "Thank you for letting us come."

I couldn't resist posting this cute picture.

This is what I love about Great Britain.

This boy has the longest eyelashes I've ever seen.
We want Charlie to meet him.

I guess I did get steps while watching the
Grapp kids.

General Conference
Cleansed by Repentance
President Dallin H. Oaks
"Because of God's plan and the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I testify with a 'perfect brightness of hope' that God loves us and we can be cleansed by the process of repentance. We are promised that 'if we press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life- (2 Nephi 31:20) May we all do so, I plead and pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

James saw an elk from the porch. His camera was not ready so he went out to look for him. He didn't find the one he already has photos of but he saw another big one but couldn't get close enough to get any photos.

While he was outside he checked his mouse traps. So far he has caught 21 mice in 13 days in his "Kick the bucket" trap. Here are five of them:

Water in the bottom because of the rain.
They look like little torpedos.

James came in after being outside for awhile very upset. He said an elk jumped the fence, got a drink, rubbed his antlers on the red oak tree he planted that cost over $100, and he destroyed it. This is why we have an electric fence. Was it not working? Those elk can jump from a standing position about six or seven feet. Wow. Our fence is six foot high. Maybe we need a higher fence.

I made pork chops today with creamy gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn, and a salad. It was a quite delicious meal only next time I'm going to butterfly the thick pork chops.

I sold two books today and my total sales for the year is: $9,248.44.
My goal is to reach $10,000 before the end of the year.

As I was walking today I watched a couple of episodes of Halloween Chopped. Some of their basket ingredients are pretty gross, and some of them are just silly. Blood sausage, beets, split pea soup, and maggot cupcakes. (The maggots are not really maggots).

On a play from the movie "Silence of the Lambs", which I have never seen because it was rated R, another basket had calf liver, fava beans, chianti, and severed fingers which were shortbread cookies decorated like severed fingers. I guess this was a meal Hannibal Lector ate in the aforementioned movie.

I heard thunder and the sky was covered in dark clouds today but we got no rain. Wait a minute, I think James is on the roof. Not a good thing if it's thundering and there is lightning.

I did my normal things today: study, walk, buy books, and a little cleaning and laundry, plus working on my blog. It seems the hurrier I go the behinder I get.

Can you tell how much I like frozen corn?

She actually takes a few steps in
this video!

Can you see James wearing this?

"Come, Follow Me"
President Russell M. Nelson
"Pour out your heart to God. Ask Him if these things are true. Make time to study His words. Really study! If you truly love your family and if you desire to be exalted with them throughout eternity, pay the price now - through serious study and fervent prayer - to know these eternal truths and then to abide by them."

A quote from President Romney's talk:
"Obedient to the law of Christ is liberty. Learn the law of Christ and obey it. This is the purpose of life."

I listened to Kathy and Kris, two of my favorites, on the book webinar this morning. Kris says that between May and August 15th he buys $1,000 worth of books a day. That is a lot of money!
By the way, I sold three books today.

I was going to make pork chops today for lunch but I was just not feeling up to it. My muscle is still sore from yesterday's slip.

I sat down for a few minutes and ended up watching last night's episode of "Dancing with the Stars." I think the Bachelorette, Hannah Brown was my favorite.

There was a strange hotline advertisement on TV today. The announcer said: I you have experienced abuse in Mormonism please call this number...What?

I did manage to walk today. Actually the more I walked the less sore my muscle was.

James worked outside on log upkeep again today. This evening we watched the latest episode of Mystery Theater 101, our second episode for this week. We were a little behind.

I couldn't resist another picture of James's elk.

He's still going to the temple minus the walker.

 I love Persnikkity's!

General Conference
The Atonement of Jesus Christ
Brother Tad R. Callister
"The Savior's Atonement gives us life for death, 'beauty for ashes,' healing for hurt, and perfection for weakness. It is heaven's antidote to the obstacles and struggles of this world.
I bear my witness that the Savior's Atonement is not only infinite in scope but also individual in reach - that it can not only return us to God's presence but also enable us to become like Him - the crowning goal of Christ's Atonement."

It was totally overcast and raining when we got up this morning. It rained most of the day and most of the time it was a hard rain. We are grateful because we need the moisture!

James worked on getting bids for the Ramirez job in Phoenix. I worked on my blog, walked, and opened all of the emails I got from book alerts for my Done For You lists. I wrote down and checked on two pages of books and not one was worth buying. I won't be doing this again. From now on I will be researching new books.

My new ministering sisters, Barbara and Donna, came by for a visit this afternoon. I can't even remember the last time I had visiting teachers. I've never had ministering sisters. I guess if you want ministering sisters, you assign them to yourself, which I did.

Tanna, Joyce Dye's granddaughter says that one of her grandmother's lungs is not working and hospice has suggested they take her off her oxygen. They are having a family meeting and will decide what to do. Tanna will keep us updated.

We invited the Grapp's to come over to watch "When Hope Calls" but they didn't come so we watched  Mystery 101:Dead Talk. We had FHE last night when we studied for the new "Come Follow Me" lesson.

We have a place on the floor where water puddles when it rains. It comes from the skylight. While I was walking I went over to turn on the fan and slipped in the puddle. I caught myself so I didn't fall, but I pulled a muscle and now I can hardly walk. It's a good thing I was almost finished with my steps

Rowan's playoff game for the East Valley Flag Football Championship was postponed until tomorrow. I guess they got a little rain in the valley too.
