Happy 22nd Birthday to Adam and 15th to Joe!
I got up early and finished preparing my talk. I also put chicken enchiladas in the crockpot for lunch. At 9 am I went with Sheri and Christy Wanlass to return the van's they rented for Ragnar. The place was on 22nd and Washington so it took about an hour for me to follow them over there and come back.
The Gonzales family did not attend our ward today. They are going to Justin Johnson's and Ian Hatch's farewells in Galveston 2nd ward.
Sheri and her boys were all there, including Max. Our talks went quite well. I spoke on the Family Proclamation and James spoke on strengthening families. Afterwards Paula Casto gave me a big hug which made me feel great.
Jeff Chubbs taught the teacher development class today. The lesson was on using different teaching methods. It was great. Cathi, Morgan Skeen, Julie Johansen and I attended.
Morgan taught Relief Society today and did an awesome job with Elder Scott's conference address on the power of scriptures. She had an awesome handout and it was one of the best RS lessons I have been to.
James kept busy most of the afternoon. He had Young Men's Presidency meeting and then he went home teaching. I caught up on some of my Sunday journal writing.
We got out of bed to sing Happy Birthday to Adam.
Oh by the way, our chicken enchiladas were delicious! Adam loved them too.

Study for my talk, walk to Walmart, and then yardwork. I am so tired and hurting.
Stacy and Paul went to the temple today with Paul's family. Paul's nephew, Justin Johnson, (Devin and Kim's son) is leaving on his mission for Argentina in a few days.
Darrel came over this afternoon with his kids. He left around 5 to go pick up Trina at the end of the Ragnar Race at Tempe Town Lake. Everybody is calling Trina the MVP because she ran for Hillary Whalen when Hillary got hurt. Trina and Sheri both had a great time! Sheri ran for Christy Wanlass and had to run up a huge hill in Fountain Hills. I am proud of both of them!
A friend from the ward, Katy Glemser, talked about how good Jersey Mike's Subs are so we went there for dinner. Katy recommended Jersey Shore's Favorite with provolone, ham and cappacualo. I dont' know what that last ingredient is, but the sub was delicious! James got a hot pastrami and loved it! We are definitely coming back to this place.
I spent most of the evening typing James's talk for him. He narrowed it down from 27 pages to 7 pages. Mine is about the same length. I went to bed before nine, which is my goal.

Happy Birthday Karen Schneider. Have a great time in Hawaii!
Sheri left for her Ragnar Race this morning. She's been training for it for months. She was heart broken when she thought she might not be able to go because of Max. Thank goodness he's "out of the woods" and she felt comfortable going. There are twelve girls on the team, "Sole Sisters":
Sheri, Trina, Christy Wanlass, Hillary Whalen, Hillary Jiminez, Karin Gonda, Adrienne Ellsworth, Kate Gunther, Beth Bluth, Shaylyn Nansel, Sara Hansen and Chelsea Wolfley. The race is 200 miles long. It starts in Wickenburg today and ends at Tempe Town Lake tomorrow evening. Each girl will run either 16 or 22 miles. They rented two large vans and won't be spending the night in a hotel so I hope they are able to get some rest. It sounds crazy to me but I do hope they have fun.
Max spent most of the morning at home playing video games. I checked on him about every 30 minutes. After I picked up Evan and Joshua from preschool I went to Target and got Max a pizza and then to Burger King to get the other boys burgers. (Joshua calls his a crabby patty.)
I was able to take a short nap this afternoon which was good because James and I went to the 5:00 session at the temple. It was such a small session it went fairly quickly. I really enjoyed it. Afterwards he wanted to go to our ward activity at the visitor's center but I was too tired and hungry. We stopped at the drive thru Subway in Chandler on the way home.

Since I was up past midnight last night there was no getting up at 4am and then walking to Walmart at 6:30. It was almost 7 when I got up.
I watched Evan this morning and he and Joshua wanted Grandpa to get the light sabre out of the tree, so Grandpa climbed the tree and got the light sabre down. I got a picture which I will post later. He really is a dare devil in spite of all of his injuries.
Ian went to the hospital to learn how to change the dressing on Max's head because Sheri didn't think she could handle it. The did a proceedure this morning and everything went well. They were home around noon just as Evan was asking for his hamburger, ketchup only.
James and I took Joe and Adam out to eat for their birthday this evening. We can't afford Red Lobster right now. We went to Golden Corral and had a great time. I had some freshly cooked grilled tilapia and it was delicious. I am craving some right now! I am proud of Joe. He abstained from the sugary desserts, something he has done since before Christmas. He is a great example!

James and I attended the Mitt Romney rally here in Chandler at the Tri-City Christian Academy with my friend Jacque Hatch. Laura was kind enough to save us a place in the bleachers because I don't think I could have stood after standing in line for an hour. Afterwards James, Dallin, and I all got to shake hands with Mitt. It was worth the wait!
It was a funfilled day for Dallin. His favorite band "Fun" did a live performance at Zia Records here in Chandler. All you had to do to get in was buy their newest CD. Did I say Dallin's favorite band? Joe, Alex, Ben, and Michael are also big fans and they were there too, along with Kim. (Thank goodness for Kim!). Michael came from his baseball game and "changed clothes" in the back seat of the PT Cruiser. I guess you could say they all had a great time. Grandpa went to Mutual by himself this evening.
I got home from my RS presidency meeting after 9pm only to find out that Sheri was at Banner Desert Hospital with Max. Max and Michael had a collision on the trampoline on Monday. Michael's tooth hit Max in the forehead opening up a big gash. Ian doctored it and sealed it up and it seemed like everything was okay until this afternoon when the swelling began. James had told Sheri she needed to take him in because swelling around the brain area can be serious. The doctor had him go to the hospital where they put him on an IV. James and I met Darrel at the hospital and James and Darrel gave Max a blessing. I had to sit in the waiting room because they only allow two visitors at a time. I went back to see Max and the first thing I saw were his feet, and boy were they dirty! They were wheeling him into another room. We went with them to his new room and then James and I left. Sheri will be spending the night. They will be doing a proceedure on him in the morning to relieve the swelling and allow the wound to drain. James said that in the blessing he blessed him that everything would be fine. Thank goodness! Now I can sleep tonite.

We will be judged by what is in the Book of Mormon. It will be the rod against which we will be measured.
I made it to Walmart, did my shopping, and came home all within an hour. That was my goal. In the past it's taken me an hour and 15 minutes. Maybe it's because I did interval walking and jogging most all of the way there.
I mowed the front lawn today and made an exciting discovery. I can start the lawnmower all by myself! The reason I haven't been mowing the lawn is because I didn't think I could start the mower. Should I be glad or sad?
Started preparing my talk for Sunday on the family. How do I make it interesting. James says we aren't to entertain, but to bear testimony.
Wes Lueck came over today. He is buying one of our lots and he had a contract for us to sign.
Woohoo!
James bid 3 jobs today.
In spite of my 3 mile walk I ate pie, and candy today. I wonder if I will lost any weight?

Happy 37th Birthday to Sheri! She got roller blades from Ian.
We gave her a soft blanket, a puzzle and gift cards to go out to eat. She, Trina, their kids, and Michael went hiking on Peralta Trail this morning. I was going to go but James talked me out of it. It didn't take much because my feet were hurting. I took a nap instead.
I went out to breakfast with my friend Karen Schneider this morning for her birthday. We went to Mimi's and got omlets. They were delicious. Karen's birthday is on the 24th but she has cleared the rest of the week to get ready for her trip to Hawaii.
This evening James and I went to see the movie "The Vow" using movie passes we got for Christmas. The movie features Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum as a couple involved in a car accicent. She loses her short term memory and they have to start their relationship all over. It was based on a true story. Rachel McAdams made the movie for me. She is so adorable! Channing Tatum wasn't bad to look at either.

James and I gave each other haircuts yesterday so we looked 'spiffy" going to Church today.
Stacy had to stay home with Josh who had a fever so Dallin and Michael came to Church with me. (Paul goes to the 9 am meeting because he has work at noon). James and I went up to sit by Dallin and Michael during sacrament meeting and they got up and left. James went out in the foyer and ask them to come back but they were "no shows." I must say I was rather hurt and offended. They pretty much made a joke out of it when we ask them why they did it. I can't remember when I've been more disappointed in these two.
We had our Lambson FHE this evening. There were 19 of us in attendance and we had a great time. Our family home evening theme for the year is faith and obedience. Addy sang "I Am A Child of God" Dallin sang "How Great Thou Art" and Joe and Dallin sang while Dallin played the piano and Joe played the guitar.
We really miss Jared and Tricia's family!

The highlight of my day was watching the Trezise boys, Ben and Max play football. Ben threw a pass to his buddy Ian Wanlass who caught it one handed in the air and ran for the touchdown. Ian also made the extra point.
Max made the first touchdown of the game in his game on the second play of the game. Both boys can catch, throw and play defense. It made my day to watch them play! (Someday I will have some pictures on this blog.)
James is selling another trailer today. This one will go for $1,800.00 Hey, whatever it takes to pay the bills. (He just threw 1800 cash on my desk!)
Nathan, Terry's son, wants to buy one and maybe both of the lots we have left in the neighborhood. Hurray!
Quote of the day:
"Happiess is the object and design of our existence and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness and keeping all the commandments of God." - the Prophet Joseph Smith

No walk to Walmart this morning. I was just too tired. I went back to bed for an hour and then went outside to work in the yard.
Sheri invited me to go to the movies today with her and Christy Wanlass and Drea Boles. We saw "One for the Money." A little crude but quite entertaining. Stacy was nice to watch Evan. Speaking of Stacy, she got her license today so it's official she's a dental hygienest! Now if she can only find a job.
Adam and friends made it safely to the cabin at around 2am. One of the cars didn't make it the last 100 yards. There is snow, James sent me a picture. While James was making steak, gravy and biscuits for breakfast the electricity went off. It was a loose wire out in the fuse box. It's a good thing grampa was there to fix it.
I am off to Dave and Laura's in a few minutes to play 5 Crowns!

James went on my walk with me again this morning. It was fun having him with me. I gave him a shopping assignment in Walmart and he had to have a little help. He's not the experienced shopper that I am.
Trina is such a sweetie. She came over this afternoon and helped me pack some things in the kitchen pantry. I got some big moving boxes at Sam's Club and it really got me in the mood for packing. The hard part is knowing what to keep, what to give away, and what to throw away.
James left for the cabin this afternoon. Adam is going up with some friends tonite and James is going up to get things ready for them. He is also cooking them steak, gravy and biscuits in the morning. What a guy! He was sad that I wasn't going but I really didn't want to. I told him it was a guy bonding trip.

"Only through repentance do we gain access to the atoning grace of Jesus Christ and salvation."
I took my Walmart plastic bag on my walk this morning and filled it up with garbage. Most of it came this side of the trailer park (Sunshine Valley) wall.
The cars continue to stream through the Starbucks drive thru between 6am and 7am. That must be when they do the bulk of their business.
Today was a busy day. This morning after my "chores" I visit taught Christy Wanlass. Afterwards I came home and made finger sandwiches and went with Laura to our ward's Relief Society birthday luncheon at Judy Pargetter's. We had a good turn out: Judy and her daughter Michelle Thompson, Julie Jacobs, Leesa Farr, Jackie Hall, Inger and Julie Johansen, Jill Lueck, Rachel Hill, Debbie Lieb, Adrienne Ellsworth, Drea Boles, Janny St. Onge, Jocie Bogner, and Laura and I. The food was good and so was the company.
At 2 pm I had an appointment at Dr Douglas's to have my teeth cleaned by Jackie, the hygienest. She said my gums looked good.
For dinner James and I had our delayed Valentine's date at one of our favorite restaurants, Black Angus. We got the special which included an appetizer, fried zucchini and fried mushrooms, an entre' with two sides. I had the New York steak, a baked potato and green beans. James had the prime rib, steak soup and broccoli. For dessert we brought home cheesecake with strawberry sauce.
Now James is gone to Mutual and I have an hour or so by myself.

I found this quote in this month's Ensign. It was in an article about the saints in Ecuador.
"Our happiness doesn't depend on material things, says Oscar Reyes, age 15, "but in how we live our lives. That's why I keep the Sabbath day holy, because it is pleasing to God. And that's why I will serve a mission and why I like serving others."
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY,AND ARIZONA AND CHANDLER'S 100TH BIRTHDAYS!!
It was cool and overcast this morning. James went for a walk with me. We walked to the Subway near our house and had breakfast. I had an omlet with bacon and cheese on flatbread and it was quite tasty. It was fun to have my sweetie walk with me.
Trina and the kids came over this afternoon and brought us some delicious popcorn for Valentine's day. It was so fun to see them and I gave each of them their Valentine's from us.
Kim and Joe also came over. I gave Kim Joe's Valentine bag of candy because he doesn't eat sweets anymore. What a good example he is. I wish I could do that.
Laura and I took dinner to our nieghbors Joe and Diana Johnston this evening. Diana had a 9lb 90z. baby boy on Sunday. We got to see the baby. He's really cute with dark hair. I made Kempton goulash. I also took them some french bread and sugar cookies from Walmart. Laura made a salad.
I made Kempton goulash for James too. He loves it. Afterwards he did the dishes and made me chocolate covered strawberries. For lunch we had hot and sour soup from Sun's Chinese. It was a hot and sour soup kind of day.

I walked with my friend Karen Schneider today at the mall. It's been a while since we've spent any time together so it was nice to reconnect.
I made bags of candy to give to the grandkids this afternoon. I am sending sour patch kids candy to the kids in Texas.
I told James we were short of money for this week's bills. He said, don't worry something will come up. Later in the day Owen came by and gave my a check to cover our bills and more.
This evening James, Michael, Paul, Stacy, Tara and I attended the Chandler High School Spring Pop Concert. Dallin sang "The Only Exception" and accompanied himself on the guitar. He did a great job! There were quite a few talented performers on the program. One of my favorite was a girl who sang "The Girl in 14G."

"No work is more of a protection to this Church than temple work and the family history research that supports it. No work is more spiritually refining. No work we do gives us more power. ...Our labors in the temple cover us with a shield and a protection, both individually and as a people." - President Boyd K. Packer
A new couple in our ward, the Lieb's spoke in sacrament meeting. Sister Lieb says her parents were in Gail's ward in California and they love him! Oh by the way, that's Gail Lambson.
I attended a teacher development class during Sunday School taught by Jeff Chubbs. Two of our Relief Society teachers, Cathi Lambson, and Morgan Skeen also attended. We discussed the importance of teaching by the Spirit.
Cathi taught the lesson in Relief Society from the George Albert Smith manual, "Our Testimony of Jesus Christ".
Our neighbor's, Joe and Diana Johnston had a baby boy today, Giles Edward, 9 lbs. 9 0z. It's their 3rd little boy. Diana had the baby at home and Joe delivered it. I offered to bring in dinner on Tuesday.
Alex and Michael were out shooting birds again today. I told James he needed to talk to Sheri and Stacy, which he did. It's just not a good idea in a city neighborhood.

I love this quote from Elder Cornish's General Conference address:
"It is as tragic to think we are too sinful to pray as it is for a sick person to believe he is too sick to go to the doctor!"
James took two of his boys from the Teacher's quorum to run a mile at the Chandler track this morning. It's part of a merit badge requirement. The two boys, Alex Braddock and Andy Tachecki came here afterwards for cinnamon rolls, strawberries, and freshly squeezed orange juice.
James and I went to Max's flag football game. Max made an interception right at the beginning of the game, but it got called back. Max didn't play any offense and sadly his team lost 21-0.
Today at 4pm James and I both attended a Worldwide Leadership training put on by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles via satellite. The main emphasis was on strengthening families and individuals. My favorite speaker was President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. He is so powerful and I really felt the Spirit. He ended by telling us we need to pray, ponder, and follow up on commitments and pray daily for further light and direction.
Darrel and his kids came over this evening. I sent Trina's birthday gift home with them: A Target gift card, a mug full of chocolate, and a candle. I gave Addy and Ruby both "journals" and pens. Addy wrote all about her day. Ruby wrote in her journal too but I'm not sure what it said.
It was a fun day.

I did some errands with Sheri today including picking up Ben and Max from school before noon. They had early dismissal. Sheri and I were talking how we already voted in the primary election for US president. Max made the comment: "I hope that old guy doesn't win because he's just going to make everyone wear dentures." (We weren't sure if he was talking about Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul). Sheri said: "Max, how old do you think President Monson is?" Max: About 40. (He's actually 84 and been an apostle for over 43 years!) How old do you think Granma is? Max: 50. Sheri: "You think Granma is older than President Monson?" Ben: "Yeah, I think he has some really good face cream." Kids can be so entertaining without even trying! Hey I'm grateful one of my grandkids thinks I look 50!
Sheri and I shared a maple bacon cupcake from Sweet Daddy's today. I thought it needed to be more mapley. I do love their dreamsicle cupcakes and their chocolate caramel!
I lost another pound. Woohoo! (I weighed before I ate the cupcake.)

"Do not procrastinate the day of your repentance." (Book of Mormon)
Gospel Study, walk to Walmart, yardwork, housework, desk work, lunch, nap and read to James.
This afternoon I put several dolls in their boxes, and went on new family search to work on helping the Trezise's get some information on family members.
I have lost 6 lbs. since the beginning of January. It's not much, but it's a start. I'm sure the walking helps but I need to get my eating under control.
Read to James from our latest Victoria Holt book, "Seven for a Secret."
Worried about our finances. We are praying James gets the job he bid for Camelback Golf Course. We are still waiting to hear about our lawsuit and wondering if the guy who was interested in buying our lot is still on the planet. Stacy is paying me some money this week ($2000) so that will help. Also James is selling a trailer for $1800.00. The Lord does give us our daily bread, sometimes one day at a time.

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY STACY!!
I walked to Walmart this morning and bought some birthday gifts. Pajama bottoms because Stacy didn't get any for Christmas, a pink t-shirt to go with the pj's, a gift card to Olive Garden, Junior Mints and Peanut M&M's to go with the two movie tickets I put in her card. I also got her two favorite ice cream flavors, vanilla bean and pistachio almond and a strawberry cake mix.
This afternoon I baked the caked and decorated it. I use the term decorated loosely. I also made dinner for James, (Barefoot Contessa fried chicken, rice pilaf and peas). Stacy, Paul and I went to Michael's baseball game against Bogle and watched Hamilton Prep get whipped.
This evening after Stacy's "party" I went on Relief Society visits with Diana Dowdle. We visited Aubri Farnsworth, and Susan Judy's son Trey. Susan wasn't home. James helped the Teacher's quorum with some merit badges and Dallin went horseback riding with the Priest's quorum. It was a full day.

James was so excited to find 40 elk feeding in our "backyard" this morning. He was a little bummed because it was too dark to get a good picture.
We had steak and eggs for breakfast. I bought the steaks for dinner last night before I knew we were stopping for chicken. Mmmmmmm Delish!
Well I actually had to do some work today. I waxed the family-living room floor, washed sheets, vacuumed and cleaned in the kitchen. This weekend the Call family from Jared and Tricia's old ward are staying here two nights. They are paying us $500 so we went the place to be clean. We left for home around 7pm so it was 11pm when we got to bed.

Our plan was to come home from Church yesterday break our fast, take a short nap and leave for the cabin. Two out of three isn't bad. We did break our fast and we did take naps. Well James insisted that we needed to leave by 5 am this morning. I was up at my regular time, 4 am, but instead of gospel study and then a walk to Walmart, I packed and we left for the cabin shortly after 5 am. Since there is road construction the Payson way we headed towards Globe. Bummer that we couldn't stop at Burger House in Miami for a green chili burro. We did stop in Show Low, three times. First at Circle K so I could get a drink. James saw Dr.Clifford Goodman. His family has a place in Linden. Next we stopped at Arby's because James was hungry. I got a sausage biscuit. He got a ham croissant but they forgot the egg so we had to stop at Burger King for a ham croissant with egg and cheese.
It was 20 degrees when we got to Show Low but I think it warmed up to 30 during the day in Vernon. Oh, I forgot to mention we saw a coyote, deer, elk, and an antelope. James loves this place!
He worked on a bid most of the day. I did a little floor waxing, but mostly I watched "Little House". This evening we caught two episodes of "Rizzoli and Isles."
This afternoon we went in to Walmart to pick up a few items. I ended up spending $70 and then we stopped at KFC because James was hungry for chicken!
A relaxing day for me.

From my Patriarchal Blessing:
"I bless you that you will have material blessings, that you will never want for the necessities of life, that the way will be opened before you and your companion that you will be able to rear your family to honorable maturity and be able to help many others who are not so fortunate as yourself."
I was up early and put a roast and all the fixings in my cast iron pot. I turned on the oven to 250 degrees and put the pot in the oven. Dinner will be ready when we get home from Church a little after 2pm.
Sheri, Alex, and Ben all bore the testimonies in Sacrament meeting today.
I had a family history meeting with Karen Schneider and Terry Lambson during Sunday School. We are discussing our upcoming approach to family history in the ward. Terry's main concern is getting some more consultants called since I will be gone at the end of March.
Drea Boles taught the lesson in Relief Society on the "Blessings of the Temple." It was great.
James and I came home, said a prayer to break our fast, and ate our dinner and then took a nap. We were going to go to the cabin this afternoon but decided to leave in the morning instead.
Today was the Super Bowl and Nana's (Ian's mom) birthday so there was a party at the Trezise's. The Patriot's are playing the Giant's in the Super Bowl. Alex is a big Patriot's fan but they lost 21 to 17.
Joshua told James and I this evening that Michael told him that he got bit by a giner and now he has gingerbitis. Where does he come up with these things?

I read this from my Patriarchal Blessing:
"If we pray always we will be shielded from temptations greater than we are able to withstand, thus the righteous desires of our hearts can be realized as we live under His divine influence."
I battled the bougenvia in the backyard today and I won, but not without battle scars.
James hurt himself today using the compacter down on Saki's lot. But he did some really good things today so I couldn't be too upset with him. He got up early and took Alex and Michael fishing at Discovery Park. He came home and fixed steak and gravy and I popped some frozen biscuits in the oven. MMMMM Delish!
I called and wished my brother Harold a Happy Birthday. He is 62 years old today.
I went to Ben's football game this afternoon. That boy can throw the ball and that boy can catch the ball....he has good hands. He made one diving catch right on the ground. Ian Wanlass is good on defense. They are the stars of the team as far as I'm concerned.
James and I began our fast this afternoon. We will fast until tomorrow after Church.
I took all the dolls out of my doll closet tonite and arranged them in the living room and invited Addy and Ruby over to go doll shopping. Addy picked out a "fancy lady doll" in a beautiful red dress by the name of Rosalind. Trina picked the doll I thought looked the most like Ruby for Ruby...it's a cute little girl doll with two ponytails and her name is "Sunshine and Lollipops." She reminds me of Ruby because of the ponytails and the lollipop she's holding in her hand. Ruby always goes for the candy jar when she comes to our house.
Trina lost Ruby the other day when she told her to go get in the car with the other kids. Instead of getting in the car Ruby jumped on her bike and rode two blocks down the street before Trina caught her.
Darrel and Rowan didn't come this evening because they were out on the desert somewhere roasting marshmallows. Rowan wanted to go camping.
After the girls left our house they were going to Cold Stone Creamery.

I actually got to see Max as Thomas Jefferson today. He was awesome! I didn't get any pictures because the battery was dead on my camera. Sheri is suppose to email me some pictures but so far I haven't seen them.
I went shopping at Walmart two times today. Once on my morning walk and once later in the day to get a birthday gift for Tammy Wilson, our bishop's wife.
This evening our ward Relief Society and the Young Women and activity day girls did a service project at a place called "Feed My Starving Children." I didn't think I was going to be here so I didn't end up going. I stayed home and started packing my dolls. What am I going to do with 50 dolls? I guess I will probably sell most of them on Craig's List.
Michael got his ACT test results. He scored high in all areas but science was the best. He got 100%.
Joshua and Evan went to a birthday party for two of their friends at preschool, Arlo and Waylan. It was at Tiffany's house.

The Groundhog saw his shadow today so that means six more weeks of winter. Woohoo! It looks like rain outside right now. Oh, let me check my iphone and see what the forecast is.....grr no rain forecast just weather in the 60's and next week the mid 70's.
I decided on my walk to Walmart in the morning I am going to pick up trash. I take a grocery bag and make a deposit in the trash can before going in to do my shopping.
Max was Thomas Jefferson today in a class presentation and Sheri and I missed it because Sheri thought it was tomorrow. Thomas Jefferson is one of my favorite historical figures.
Mitt Romney won the Florida primary by a landslide. It seems the women in Florida don't like Newt Gingrich. I wonder why?
Stacy took me to see her dream house this afternoon. It's just down the road on Dobson past Germann. I fell in love with it too. Model homes are so nice and clean and new and beautiful!
My feet are really hurting tonight. I hope I can keep up my daily walks in the morning without paying dearly for it at night.

"Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God." Helaman 3:35. This is one of my favorite scriptures.
"To be pure in heart is to achieve that condition in which motives, desires, and attitudes are acceptable to God and consistent with the eternal progress that is the ultimate destiny of his children." Dallin H. Oaks
Sheri and I went to Kim Tolman's funeral today. Kim is Janny St. Onge's sister. Janny is my visiting teacher and Sheri is Janny's visiting teacher. Kim was 38 years old and in October she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. There are 8 girls in the Tolman family and it seemed as if Kim was the favorite sister of all. She was the oldest. I remember her coming to church for 2 or 3 years with Janny to help her when her children were small. Kim only recently got married, in November after being diagnosed with cancer. She never had children of her own but she loved her nieces and nephews. Attending this funeral reminded me how fragile life is and how important my family and friends are to me.
This afternoon I had my annual appointment with Dr. Walters. It cost me $287 for an office visit and to get my bloodwork done because Dr. Walters does not take insurance. Why do I go to him? I don't know for sure. He prescribes my thyroid and my hormone creams. I picked up my prescriptions on the way home and they cost me another $105. I am a high maintenance woman.
You'll have to ask James if I'm worth it.

Janny St. Onge is my visiting teacher. She is Sheri's age and I am always learning from her. She is married to a non-member and went through the temple for the first time two years ago. Since that time she has gone to the temple every single month. She says she schedules it in early in the month and makes it a priority. Because of her example I set a goal to go to the temple at least once a month. Today was my day for January. I missed the 10:30 session by about 5 minutes so I was a little late getting home. James watched Evan for me for about 20 minutes. Now my goal is to get the rest of my family members to make temple attendance a priority. Now matter what I did the rest of the day this was the most important thing I could have done.

Here is an interesting quote I found today during my gospel study time:
"The faith required to pay generous offerings is greater than the faith required to pay tithin, and the greater the faith and sacrifice, the greater the blessings. Therefore, our opportunity for growth and blessings lies in our paying offerings."
I took my walk in the dark this morning to Walmart and did my daily shopping. I am having so much fun doing this I think I will miss my Walmart Walk when I move to Vernon. The Walmart in Show Low is a little too far to walk to.
Well, I took the plunge today. James had told me if I got rid of our landline phone that I could get a smart phone. Today I went to the Verizon store still not sure if I should get an iphone or a Droid. Archie, the sales person who waited on me, made my decision for me. He said he recommends iphones for first time users because they are so user friendly. So an iphone it is, just like the one Sheri got. What started out costing $100 ended up costing over $200. I am so excited and will be probably until I get my first bill!
I read an article in the New Era magazine today based on a talk Elder Bednar gave a few years ago in General Conference on "tender mercies." In the talk Elder Bednar gives a definition of tender mercies: "The Lord's tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from and because of and through the Lord Jesus Christ." James and I have certainly seen some tender mercies in our lives in the past 3 years, especially in regards to our finances. Sometimes we feel a little like the ancient Israelites must have felt when, one day at a time, Jehovah provided them with daily sustenance. They had to walk with Him each day and trust that He would grant a sufficient amount of food for the next day on the next day and so on. In that way He could never be too far from their minds and hearts.
This afternoon Stacy and I went to Michael's baseball game only to find that he was pitching for the first time in his life. He did pretty well and they ended up winning the game!
Michael didn't even want to go out for baseball but the coach ask him to and without him they wouldn't have enough players. Michael does it for the team!
