General Conference
Prepared to Receive Every Needful Thing
David A. Bednar
"Could we read and comprehend all that has been written from the days of Adam, on the relation of man to God and angels in a future state, we should know very little about it. Reading the experience of others, or the revelation given to them, can never give us a comprehensive view of our condition and true relation to God. Knowledge of these things can only be obtained by experience through the ordinances of God set forth for that purpose." (Joseph Smith).

Connor at Quicken Loans assures us that he can get us a loan.

I made ham and cabbage in the crockpot. James loved it! It was pretty tasty.

We had rain today and as we were looking out the window we saw two coyotes trotting by just on the other side of the fence. James said, "should I shoot them"? I said no because I didn't want a couple of dead coyotes to deal with.

The rain has made the weather so nice and cool!

I am reading "Aunt Dimity's Good Deed" and I am reading "Aunt Dimity is Dead" to James. Sometimes I have to stop and think which story goes with which book. James and I are also reading "Insights" the book about President Nelson's amazing life. James really does love me to read to him.

I spent the day repricing, walking, talking to Stacy about her crisis at work, and texting with Jared.

Stacy had her big Vivace weekend and did $11,000 in sales and now the payment company is holding the money making sure it's legitimate. Because Skyler hasn't gotten paid either Stacy did not even get her pay check this week. He owes her over $5,000. Her rent is due on the first and they probably won't get this straightened out until next week. My heart goes out to her. Oh yes, and Paul went out and bought a new washer because he thought she was getting all this money. He's being going to the laundry mat every week and I guess he was anxious to get the washer.

Tonight I had a presidency meeting at the church with Tamara, Kerri, and Maxine. I love these sisters that I work with. We work together and laugh together. Maxine gave me a stack of temple names of brethren who needed to be confirmed. I told her I would give them to James on Saturday when we work at the temple.
We are making ministering changes. This is probably the most difficult part of our calling. Making sure each sister is cared for and accounted for.

Happy 15th Birthday Addy!

First day of school this year.

Big Lake in July

Addy loves to bake! She made
Rowan's birthday cake but this isn't it.

She's crafty too and probably the nicest
15 year old you will ever meet!

She's athletic and runs cross country.

She did the Turkey Trot with her mom last
November.

Queen of Hearts costume made by Trina.
Addy won 1st place in her ward Halloween
costume contest.

As a sweet 8 year old at her baptism.
She's like all kids, she's grown up too fast!
I love you Addy!

This sister is in our ward. She was making these pasties for her
husband to take elk hunting. Lucky guy!

This is the recipe I used for my
ham and cabbage I made today.

Lest you think I only eat Dilly bars and
Hershey bars. Why are so many of my
posts about food?

How did they know?

Pumpkin Cider body butter?

These two!!

Mark 10:21

Behold the Lamb of God
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
"My beloved brothers and sisters, with the exciting new emphasis on increased gospel learning in the home, it is crucial for us to remember that we are still commanded to 'go to the house of prayer and offer up thy sacraments upon my holy day.' In addition to making time for more home-centered gospel instruction, our modified Sunday service is also to reduce the complexity of the meeting schedule in a way that properly emphasizes the sacrament of the Lord's Supper as the sacred, acknowledged focal point of our weekly worship experience. We are to remember in as personal a way as possible that Christ died from a heart broken by shouldering entirely alone the sins and sorrows of the whole human family."

I love this quote by President Nelson:
"I urge you to stretch beyond your current spiritual ability to receive personal revelation."
He counseled us to pray. to listen, to write down our thoughts, and to take action.

After breakfast and scriptures this morning we all left for town. I am going to do some grocery shopping while James takes the kids to Woodland Lake to take some pictures on the covered bridge.

Our first stop was Wendy's for lunch. We saw Brother and Sister Elmer from Eagar at Wendy's. They are our temple coordinators and we enjoyed seeing them and introducing them to the grandkids.

After lunch I walked over to Walmart while James loaded the kids in the car to take them to Woodland Lake. Trina called while I was in the Walmart parking lot and I told her she should probably call James if she wanted to talk to the kids, which she did.

Charles Gordon from our ward checked me out at Walmart. He is quite shy and quiet, barely saying anything to me. I must say he was an efficient cashier though.

Here are the photos James took at the lake:

I wish I would have done Lola's hair better.
She says her mom is the best at doing her hair. She can do
it anyway. Sorry Trina.

On the way home I read an email from a sister in our ward who is giving away two cats to a good home. Rowan texted his mom with a picture and of course she said no.

Lola likes this one

Back at home the kids watched the movie "Rio" and ate popcorn and M&M's. Afterwards Rowan and Ruby went on a hike and Rowan found a horned toad.

Ruby even got to hold it.

While Rowan and Ruby were hiking with granpa Lola played with the Calico Critters.

She has shoes on because she was going to go on the hike
but she changed her mind.

For dinner I fixed chicken nuggets, peas, rolls and strawberries.
After dinner James took the kids on a long Razr ride while I had a
Relief Society presidency meeting with Tamara, Kerri, and Maxine. We worked on our father's day gifts, candy bars with clever quotes for dad's.
One of the things reported in our meeting was the brother Joel Robertson is speaking after having a stroke. This was good news!

Happy Birthday Ian!

The first time in 40 years a church has been
recognized in Kuwait.

 Hush, Hush sweet Charlie

 I love this!

Jesus Christ, Davidic Descent of
Revelations 22:16
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
Book of Mormon #1
3 Nephi 28:25-40
* What do these verses teach us about the three Nephites and the work that they are doing on the earth before Christ's Second Coming? We are told, "And wo be unto him that will not hearken unto the words of Jesus, and also to them whom He hath chosen and sent among them; for whoso receiveth not the words of Jesus and the words of those whom He hath sent receive not Him; and therefore He will not receive the at the last day; For do ye suppose that ye can get rid of the justice of an offended God, who hath been trampled under feet of men, that thereby salvation might come?"(34-35). Are we among those who trample? Do we listen and obey the words of our Savior and His servants? Do we share them? Many are sent forth to spread the words of Christ. The Lord has an army of Saints, missionaries, leaders, families and individuals who are called to deliver the good news of our Savior. We are to go forth and proclaim the message of the gospel. We are to bear testimony. The Lord tells us that many are called but few are chosen (DC 121:33-40). Why are we not chosen? When we let the world get in the way; when we do not maintain our righteousness; or when we become prideful, then we lose our ability to influence. We are called to the work. Therefore, we have to follow the Spirit, heed promptings, and be humble servants to do it.

"We live in a selfish world where people constantly ask 'What's in it for me?' instead of asking, 'Whom can I help today?' or 'How can I better serve the Lord in my calling?' or 'Am I giving my all to the Lord?'"

Today I read in the Book of Mormon Student Manual that Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28 re two of the most important chapters in all of scripture because the whole history of Israel is foreshadowed in them. Some of the major calamities of the human race are explained in the theology revealed in these two chapters. President Kimball referred often to Leviticus 26.

I got to read Elder Wilhelm's email today. It sounds like he is having a great time at the MTC in South Africa.

James had a doctor's appointment with Dr. Moffat this morning at 11:15. We left for town at 10:30. I dropped James off and then went on down the road to Walmart. While I was shopping James called and asked me to come and pick him up and take him to Sonoran Quest to get bloodwork done. I parked my cart with my stuff still in it and headed out the door. He was in a hurry because the place closes for lunch at noon. I got him there about five minutes before 12 and then went back to my shopping at Walmart where I saw several people from our ward, the Crane's, Sister Vaught, Sister Wood, and the Wallace's.

When we got home James went back to his work at the Howard's and I told him to stay off of any ladders!  I worked around the house until it was time for my Relief Society presidency meeting at 7 p.m. We met first with the Elder's Quorum presidency and I gave Brother Hunsaker Tyler and Kilee's wedding cards. I am sad I am going to miss Kilee's sealing on Friday morning. We have to be in the valley.

When I came home from my meeting James was watching an old western movie starring Marlon Brando. He said it was called, "Appaloosa." I went in to the bedroom and finished my Hallmark Christmas movie before going to bed.

From my book, "The Clockmaker's Daughter:"
After Grindel, her dog, the light of Mrs Mack's affection fell on Martin, her son. Martin, who was 10 years to my 7 when I came to live with them at their place on Little White Lion St. Martin was large for his age not merely tall, but imposing, his presence being of the sort whereby he seemed to occupy more space than was his due. He was a boy of little intelligence and even less kindness."
I wish I could be this descriptive and clever in my writing.

Love this face and smile!

Five years ago these boys were our waiters at The Young
Women's in Excellence Dinner. Two are married, one is a dad and those same two are returned missionaries.

I thought nitric oxide was laughing gas.

Jesus Christ, Davidic Descent of
Isaiah 9:7
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Book of Mormon #1
3 Nephi 17:1-25
*Why do you think Jesus Christ told the people to ponder the things that He taught and to ask Heavenly Father for understanding? How often do you do this:
My answer: The dictionary says that ponder means to weigh mentally, think deeply, deliberate, and meditate. Pondering is, in my feeling, a form of prayer. Pondering the things of God helps to keep us from becoming complacent in our approach to Him. Elder Neal A. Maxwell explained the dangers of not regularly internalizing the gospel in our lives. "The worshippers at Rameumpton so ritualized their religion that they never spoke of their God again until they had assembled themselves together a week later at the stand. (Alma 31:23) Note the contrast in how Jesus instructed His followers on this hemisphere. (3 Nephi 17:3). See how the Master focuses on the family, on pondering, praying, preparing together! It should not surprise us, if we routinize our religion and do not assign the highest priority to the kingdom, that our hearts and minds will quite naturally drift to other things."

"I leave my love and blessing upon you, that you may feast upon the word of the Lord and apply His teachings in your personal lives."

I got an email this morning from our ward Relief Society president: Message from bishop - Elder Robbins has asked that our stake include in our fast this coming Sunday "a blessing on missionary and ministering efforts of our stake. Specifically that the spirit will be poured out upon all this area and its people as part of the Lord's great Gathering." President Beeler said: "I have faith that when we align with the Brethren with exact obedience, the Lord will grant us blessings beyond those for which we are asking."

James and I had scriptures and prayer in front of the fire this morning while it was snowing outside. The snow did not last long, melting as soon as it hit the ground.

I looked for book trades today but didn't find any. I am still waiting to find where the book arbitrage software is located where I can buy and sell books for a profit.

I paid bills that are due tomorrow online today. Apache county gets us again. It costs $30 to pay online and they call it a "convenience fee." Maybe this is there slush fund to go out to lunch.

I got out my fall decorations for the front porch this morning since I have people coming over tonight. Presidency meeting is here and the Grapp's are coming trick-or-treating.

James and I went to the post office together and listened to another chapter from "Saints." I had ordered the 1 volume of "The Work and the Glory" because mine is missing and we got that today.

I watched, while doing other things, two Christmas movies today, "Help for the Holidays," and "Christmas List."

I got a new windshield today from Crystal Glass. They are the ones that opened the car when James locked the keys in the car on Saturday. Not only did they replace my windshield, they left me a $100 check. I will definitely use them again.!

I cut James hair this evening before my meeting. He wanted to have it cut before he went to visit the Peeler's.

Our presidency meeting lasted almost 3 hours because we worked on our ministering chart. Also, the Grapp's came trick or treating so we stopped and visited with them. Poor little Emsley had a toothache and couldn't enjoy her Halloween candy.

The four of us enjoy one another's company so we had to do a little visiting. I told Tamara I was impressed that Jimmy had gotten her tickets to the ballet for her birthday. She said doing things together works best for them because they have opposite tastes in clothes. One year he got her a purple turtleneck nightgown with horizontal stripes that she did not like. We had to laugh about that one!

After the meeting and everyone had left James and I walked together around the kitchen and dining room. I did not even had 10,000 steps yet. I ended up with over 11,000.

Happy Halloween!

Got her shots yesterday and is sleeping today.

Happy Halloween from Sleeping Beauty!
