My dear friends, why is shining our light so important? The Lord has told us that "there are many yet on the earth . . . who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it." We can help. We can intentionally shine our light so others may see. We can extend an invitation. We can walk the journey with those who are taking a step toward the Savior, no matter how halting. We can gather Israel.

Business update: Amazon did say that it would take up to three week's to process shipments because of how busy they are and they are being true to their word. I have four shipments still in processing and another one I just sent in this week. Hopefully these books will be on the market before textbook season ends towards the middle of September.
In my "Hear Him" book today is day four which is sharing, in my study of "Aligning My Will with God's." Here are some quotes:
"Hang on to your firmest foundation, however limited that may be, and from that position of strength face the unknown. ... Assert all the faith you do have, and everybody has some! If we can do just that much we will learn the truthfulness of Jesus' promise - that even mustard-seed-sized faith will ultimately move any mountain. 'All things are possible to him that believeth.'" - Jeffrey R. Holland
"Prayer is not a negotiation process. It is an alignment process. We don't move God to our point of view. Prayer is less about changing our circumstances and more about changing us. It is about seeking His will and asking for His help to do what we need to do. When we align our will with Heavenly Father's will, answers and spiritual power will flow more freely." - Elder Kevin W. Pearson
James says we have a resident red squirrel. He said he was in the pine tree on the back lawn and when James got close to the tree he began chattering at him, as if he was warning him to stay out of his territory where his stash of food is. Red squirrels normally don't live down this low. They are usually up in the spruce and aspen trees.
I sent Charlie her birthday present today, a unicorn tea set that Lola picked out. Her birthday party is on Sunday but her birthday isn't until Thursday so hopefully she will get it by her birthday.
The sister missionaries that came to help James with the fence today came up and helped wash windows for awhile. Here they are:
Clockwise around the table starting with the sister in the blue shirt on the left: Sister Noorda from Clinton, Utah;
Sister Lindman from Louisville, Kentucky, Sister Hunter from Laie, Hawaii, and Sister Roberts from Lehi, Utah.
The sisters worked for less than a half hour and then James offered them some refreshments, cookies and milk, and watermelon and honey dew.
I had to leave to get ready to go to my lunch date with Rita and Aunt Gene while the sisters were still here.
I got to Licano's right at 11 when it opened. I told the hostess that I would be with two more people so she seated me at a table for 3. I drank lemon water and ate chips, salsa and bean dip while waiting for Rita and Aunt Gene. Aunt Gene just lives up the hill within walking distance of Licano's. It was almost 11:30 and I began a text to Rita when she called me. She wanted to know where I was. I told her I was at Licano's sitting at a table for 3 by myself. She told me we were supposed to meet at Aunt Gene's. I told her I was sorry but that is not what I remembered. I hung up the phone and they were here within 10 minutes.
Aunt Gene and Rita both wore wigs. Aunt Gene commented that she really liked my hair. Rita wanted to know if I dye it and I told her no. Rita has rheumatoid arthritis and so we talked about what medicines we take. When I said I took Tramadol Aunt Gene said that she does too. Rita said her son Billy, who is an attorney told them not to have Aunt Gene drive to her bridge games in Pinetop anymore. He said if she was in an accident it would be her fault no matter what because she is on Tramadol. Wow! I didn't know that. I take Tramadol and I drive all of the time. It does not affect my driving at all. I think that is a ridiculous law.
Aunt Gene is 92 years old and weighs about 121 lbs. She can't eat very much because of the stomach surgery she had a few years ago. She had a toastado for lunch. I had a taco and a chicken enchilada. Rita had two tacos. The waitress brought me out a special dessert of fried ice cream with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. I shared and then we left to go up to Aunt Gene's house for a few minutes. We saw Monte and Tasha as we were leaving. This was funny because I had told them about Monte having diverticulitis and having surgery for it. Aunt Gene has this too. I told them he was fine now and it was nice that they could see that he really was.
Aunt Gene lives in grandma and grandpa Maxwell's home. We went outside on Aunt Gene's backporch and sat down. Rita and Aunt Gene both had a gift for me. I opened Aunt Gene's first. It was a vase that she said belonged to Grandma Doak. Grandma Doak was Grandma Maxwell's grandma. I remember the name Doak when doing family history. Aunt Gene also gave me a beautiful card that said Happy 73rd Birthday. I reminded her that I was only 72 but she could consider that the card was an early card for next year. We laughed and then I opened Rita's gift. It was a unique orchid plant inside of a leather purse. The leather purse is the one my mom made for Rita when she was in high school. My mom asked me if I wanted one but I said I didn't. (Dumb teenager). The purse was in almost perfect condition. Rita had taken good care of it. I almost cried when I saw it. Rita and I had talked a year or so ago and we remembered this purse. I told her then that my mom had done leather work but I had nothing she had made. Rita said she got the idea then that I should have the purse. Since it is over 50 years old, it is considered an antique. I gave Rita a big hug and thanked her for her thoughtfulness. These two gifts are so much more meaningful than anything they could have bought me at the store.
using a pattern traced on to the leather. I
remember my mom making this purse.
We said our goodbyes and I left for Vernon. I was anxious to get home because I had been gone longer than I had expected and I was tired. I noticed that my air conditioning was not working very well so I turned it down to low and it seemed to work better. I never looked at my thermostat. After passing the Vernon refuse station I noticed I was losing power and then I looked up and saw that a stream of smoke was coming from the car. I pulled over and stopped. Smoke was boiling out from under the hood. I immediately called James and alerted him what had happened and that he needed to come and get me. Soon afterwards I got a call from Stefani Hunsaker asking if I was okay. I guess Kilee had seen me and told her that I was broke down. She asked if I needed help and I told her thank you but no. A few minutes later Kilee and her husband came by and asked if they could do anything. I told them no. They are here for Camrie's wedding. It is almost their anniversary and to celebrate they are staying at the Hampton Inn in Show Low.
Soon James arrived and began putting water and coolant into the car. He said it took four gallons. We tried to start the car but nothing happened, the starter is not working so James will have to tow the car and I will have to steer it. The tow rope is in place and things are going fine until we turn a corner or he slows down. The brakes work, but not very well. We make it home safely, what a relief! My poor Lexy, I am so sad. The rest of the day is a blur. I was so tired that I made myself comfortable in the recliner on the couch and I was out for awhile. I guess sitting out in the sun for almost an hour wore me out.
I was too tired to do much walking this evening. I tried to work on my blog but really didn't do much before bedtime.
just like this one!
to two months in jail...not sure what else.
