While we are enjoying spring-like weather here in Chandler, this sister missionary from our ward, Sister Dahlia Dowdle is shoveling snow.  It seems that she has a good attitude about it though.  Sheis one of my heroes!

Today is president's day and there was no school.  I celebrated by going shopping.  I went to Sam's Club, Deseret Book, and Walmart.  When I returned James had bought me a Whataburger which was in the frig.  Stacy and Michael helped me unload my car.  We had a roomful of guests: Joe, Amanda, Connor, Alex, and Seth.

After putting away my groceries I updated both checkbooks and paid some bills.  James replaced a piece of baseboard in Joshua's room that had warped and textured the window sill.  I did some blue touchup paint and painted the inside door casing of the closet.

For FHE we did some studying from the JST of the New Testament.

This evening we read from our new book, "Trouble in Store."

Amazing tree!!
Here are some notes I took this morning while reading Elder Callister's "Infinite Atonement."
"If the gifts of the Spirit are the medium by which we perfect ourselves, how can we accelerate our acquisition of such gifts?"
       1.  See all the best gifts of the Spirit orderly and persistently with all my heart.
       2.  We must ask so fervently that this pursuit is a constant unending struggle.

Even though James put a plug in my back driver's side tire last week, it is still leaking air.  We left a little after 11 to take it to Center Tire to be fixed.  We dropped Lexy off and walked over to Persnikkity's for lunch.  James had the green chili chicken sandwich with a side of potato salad.  I had the chicken salad sandwich with pasta salad.  We shared.  Everything was very tasty.

We stopped at both Chase and National bank and then went on to Walmart.  James stayed in the car while I shopped at Walmart.  For a Good Works value experience I needed to make a two week menu plan and then shop and prepare the meals.  Today I did the shopping for one week.

I read to James from the book The Book Thief both coming to town and going back home.  We still aren't sure if we are going to like the book but Kim liked it even though she said it was sad so I'm holding on to that.  Sheri said she wouldn't read it because she heard it was sad.  It's about a family in Nazi Germany during WW11.

We had salad for dinner and then watched Rizzoli & Isles.
Kim texted me from Oregon.  She said she had the ocean on one side of her hotel room and a herd of elk on the other.  I told her she must be in heaven.  She agreed.

It was fun to spend the day with James when it was so unexpected.  We shared our notes for 2 Nephi 15, 16, and 17, some of the Isaiah chapters in the Book of Mormon.  There is so much symbolism involved in the writings of Isaiah.  I learned from reading Brother Ridges commentary that 2 Nephi 16 is symbolic of the Atonement and how it helped Isaiah prepare for his calling as a prophet.

James and I went into town and had lunch at Grumpy Jakes BBQ.  I loved their BBQ sauce and my brisket sandwich and the coleslaw.  Definitely going back when Sheri comes up in March.

We stopped at Book Barn and got journals for our Book of Mormon writings.  I came home and found an Angel Moroni journal online and ordered two.  I will use the one I got at the Book Barn for notes on General Conference.  It's purple.  I also stopped at Walmart to get some candy for the sisters that I visit teach.

When we returned home I moved 16 cans downstairs and paid some bills, and did some blogging.  I also watched Downton Abbey with James.

James brought home two checks that he was suppose to deposit before he left Chandler, but he forgot.  We needed to go into town today to deposit them.  We hadn't made any definite plans as to when we were going to go until Kilee Hunsaker called  and asked if she could get a ride to the Stanford store at the Y.  She was going to meet a friend there.  I asked her when she wanted to leave and she said around 11.
When we went to pick up Kilee she came out and said she couldn't get in touch with her friend but could she come to town with us.  Her family was going snow mobiling wih the DeWitt's and I was surprised Kilee didn't want to go with them.  Of course she could go with us if she wanted.
Our first stop in town was Chase bank.  National bank was closed so I will have to come back on Monday to make that deposit.  Our next stop was LaCasita for lunch.  I told Kilee this was Sister Nicoll's favorite restaurant.  We texted her to find out what her favorite food was and that's what Kilee ordered.  It was a chicken enchilada with green sauce.  I got a tamale and some sopapillas to share and James got a green chili burro enchilada style.  The food tasted especially good on such a cold day.

We did a little shopping at Walmart and then headed back to Vernon.  Kilee ask if she could come over for awhile.  Although I had planned on spending the afternoon preparing for tomorrow's young women lesson I said she could.  We watched Mr. Popper's Penguins and played 5 Crowns.  When I told Kilee it was time to go home she wanted to spend the night.  I had to decline.  I need some time to myself to prepare for tomorrow.
James and I watched the latest episode of "Elementary" before going to bed.  We both have early meetings tomorrow.
Love this picture taken in front of the cabin.
