Atonement
Jacob 4:ll
Jesus Christ, Advocate
DC 62:l
Behold, and hearken, O ye elders of my church, saith the Lord your God, even Jesus Christ, your advocate, who knoweth the weakness of man and how t succor them who are tempted.
Alma 43:41-54
*What "better causes" do you find worth fighting for?
The gospel, my family and freedoms.
DC 107:41-57
39-52, The patriarchal order is established from Adam to Noah; 53-57, Ancient Saints assembled at Adam-ondi-Ahman, and the Lord appeared to them;
What do these verses teach us?
* A history of Adam's posterity and their ordination to the priesthood. Adam and the Lord meet with Adam's righteous posterity in Adam-ondi-Ahman and Adam gave them his last blessing. All of this is recorded in the book of Enoch. The patriarchal priesthood is passed by ordination from father to son. The Lord comforted Adam (verse 55.)
General Conference
The Beauty of Holiness
Carol F. McConkie
" if we will keep the associated covenants, the sacred priesthood ordinances will change us, sanctify us, and prepare us to enter the presence of the Lord. So we bear one another's burdens; we strengthen one another. We retain a remission of sins when we give temporal and spiritual relief to the poor, the hungry, the naked, and the sick. We keep ourselves unspotted from the world when we keep the Sabbath day and worthily receive the sacrament on the Lord's holy day. We bless our families and make our homes holy places. We bridle our passions so that we may be filled with pure and lasting love. We reach out to others in kindness, with compassion, and stand as witnesses of God. We become a Zion people. of one heart and one mind, a pure people who dwell together in unity and righteousness. For Zion must increase in beauty and in holiness. Sisters, come to the temple. If we are to be a holy people prepared to receive the Savior at His coming, we must arise and put on our beautiful garments. In strength and honor, we forsake the ways of the world and keep our covenants, that we may be "clothed with purity, yea, even with the robe of righteousness."

I finished Elder Holland's book, "Christ and the New Covenant." It was just as good the second time as it was the first.
I love the quiet of the early morning.
When James gets up I ask how he is doing. This was his comment:
"I am sick and in a lot of pain. I have no voice and bronchitis."

The gospel is so amazing! I read about the Patriarchal Priesthood, the Law of Consecration, and Captain Moroni and the title of Liberty, just to name a few. The icing on the cake was Sister McConkie's "The Beauty of Holiness."  What a way to start the day!

I left before 8 a.m. to do errands with James. It is not what I had planned for today, but it became the priority. James's first stop was Home Depot. Afterwards he went to Aliberto's across the street and bought me a breakfast burrito, my reward for coming with him.

Yummy!

Next stop was Kay's Building Supplies and then on to Taylor. In Taylor James bought the lost metal pole he needed for his fence.

When we get home I need a nap. Getting up at 3:30 this morning takes its toll. James works outside leveling the ground to get ready to put up the greenhouse. When I finally get up from my nap I work on my blog and then I clean our bedroom and bathroom.

For dinner James had chicken, broccoli and brownies. After dinner we watched the move "Dater's Handbook." I also worked on my Primary journal before going to bed.

James and I both take Zzzquil before going to bed.

Mosiah 17
Alma believes Abinadi and is cast out; Abinadi is burned.
* What lessons can we learn from Abinadi's example?
President Gordon B. Hinckley: "Be strong - in standing for the right.  We live in an age of compromise...In situations with which we are daily confronted, we know what is right....We must cultivate the strength to follow our convictions.
3 Nephi 11
Jesus Christ did show himself unto the people of Nephi, as the multitude were gathered together in the land Bountiful, and did minister unto them; and on this wise did he show himself unto them.
The Father testifies of His Beloved Son - Christ appears and proclaims His Atonement - The people feel the wound marks in His hands and feet and side - They cry Hosanna - He sets forth the mode and manner of baptism - The spirit of contention is of the devil - Christ's doctrine is that men should believe and be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. About A.D. 34.
DC 63:1-12
A day of wrath will come upon the wicked; Signs come by faith;
What are my feelings on faith and how has it helped me in my trials?
When I first came down with rheumatoid arthritis, I was bedridden.  My children were 12, 10, 9,7, and 5.  I could here them running around the house but I could do nothing.  I could not even open a door.  The thing that gave me hope was reading the scriptures and a book by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, "The Power of Positive Thinking."  One scripture in particular became my mantra: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phillipians 4:13.  This scripture and keeping my thoughts positive and hopeful,  got me through one of the most difficult times in my life.  It is my faith in Christ that keeps me going.

The Voice of Warning
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
"While the duty to warn is felt especially keenly be prophets,
it is a duty shared by others as well."

My visiting teachers, Kailee and Deana came by for a visit at 9:30 this morning.  We had a good discussion about the priesthood and our responsibility to remind our husbands of their responsibilities in the priesthood.  We talked about memorizing DC 84:33-44 as Sister Burton asked us to.  She says if we memorize this oath and covenant of the priesthood the Holy Ghost will expand our understanding of the priesthood and inspire and uplift us in wonderful ways.  I have started to memorize it along with "The Living Christ" and "The Family Proclamation." (I started last year, and picked it up again this year after general conference.)

Right after Kailee and Deana left I loaded up the car and James drove me to Hailey's.  It takes about 45 minutes to get there.  Today was a very windy day and there were dark storm clouds behind Hailey's house. Hailey's husband is a rancher.  She told me they ordered some hay and when he fed it to his cattle the first four fell over dead.  They had nitrate poisoning.  The levels of nitrate in hay are suppose to be around 700.  The nitrates in this hay were 5,900.
They have the hay locked up in the barn away from the cows and are using it for their horses.  What a tragedy.  I have never heard of such a thing before.  Hailey loved the candle and Power Ade I gave her.
Use the priesthood power as an 'ade in
your life.

When we got home James and I had tuscany tomato bisque soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.  Delicious!  I got the soup at Safeway yesterday from their "soup bar."

I read two chapters to James from our book "To Kill a Mockingbird."  I think he is beginning to enjoy it.

After my nap this afternoon I watched DWTS.  Maks is back with Heather and they got a perfect score for their rumba and then Heather was voted off the show.  I guess it isn't always about who is the best dancer, because she was definitely better than three of the guys that are left.  I hate it when it becomes a popularity contest instead of about the talent.

James is leaving early tomorrow so he loaded up the back of his truck and the trailer tonight.

He says there are still no brakes on the trailer.
Should I be worried?

While I was outside taking the above picture I happened to
catch this one of the sunset:

Beautiful!

James and I watched a movie on the Hallmark movies and mysteries channel called: McBride: Dogged.  It stars John Larroquette.  We both really liked it.

GC:  'Sharing the Restored Bospel' by Elder Dallin H. Oaks
"We can pray for inspiration on what we can do in our individual circmstances to share the gospel with others.  Prayers for this kind of inspiration will be answered if accompanied by a commitment, real intent or full purpose of heart.  Pray with a commitment to act upon the inspiration you receive, promising the Lord that if He will inspire you to speak to someone about the gospel, you will do it."

Happy Valentines Day

James wrote me a sweet, romantic letter.
A box of Prismacolor pencils!

I gave him a card and dark chocolate with hazelnuts.

I used these silly valentine faces to put on the cards I made for
the grandkids along with a sucker inside and a funny verse or joke.
I hope they liked them.
Alex, Addy, Sheri, Jared, and Kacey thanked me.

Kim got a Valentine surprise from her nieces, nephews, and brother and sisters and posted this on Facebook:

It rained/snowed today.  I put a roast in the oven for a late lunch or an early dinner.  I actually had enchiladas for an early lunch.

We had elk in our yard again.  Three again.
They were a little shy.  Here is one.

The roast I made was delicious, so moist and tender.  I cooked it in my cast iron pot in the over at 275 degrees.  It made a wonderful Valentine's dinner.

This evening we watched "Appetite for Love" starring Andrew Walker and Taylor Cole.  Afterwards we read from "Lady of the Lakes" by the fire and then went to bed rather early.  James is leaving for the valley in the morning.

What are some ways we can seek Christ to obtain better understanding and knowledge to guide us to do His will?
GC: 'Gratitude on the Sabbath Day' by President Henry B. Eyring
"Just as we sometimes cannot see the results of our own service given on the Sabbath, we may not be able to see the cumulative effects of other servants of the Lord.  But the Lord is building
His kingdom quietly through His faithfu and humble servants,
with little fanfare, towards its glorious millenial future.
It takes the Holy Spirit to see the growing grandeur."

Breakfast delivery from James before he went to work this morning.

I did some laundry and caught up on my General Conference reading.  At lunch time James came home to take me to Jersey Mike's.

I could tell he was a little stressed because he forgot his coupon and blamed me for not bringing it.  I remember him mentioning it this morning but I had no idea where it was.

After lunch, James went back to work to fix a broken water line.  Is there anything worse in the construction business than plumbing problems?

I went shopping at DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) and Deseret Book.
One of these pair of shoes is very comfortable and the other one is rubbing a blister on my heel.  Can you guess which is which?

The first book here I bought for James to read as a resource for teaching Church History and the Doctrine and Covenants in his gospel doctrine class.  The second one is the book I started reading at Jared's and decided I wanted my own copy.  The third one is the book James and I are currently reading together.  I bought the first two today at Deseret Book.

James's treat from Deseret Book
I had a diet orange creme soda and one small truffle.

Before leaving office Obama sent $221 million dollars to the Muslims.  Trump was not happy about it.

This afternoon I took a nap, studied, and worked on my blog.  Cathi is still in Las Vegas and Terry is gone to the ROC and James is at work.  As he was turning a shut-off valve it broke off and blew 80 pounds of water pressure all over him.  He said he was freezing cold but had to stay to fix the problem.

At 4:30 I left with Sheri and Evan to go to Evan's flag football practice.  It was cold!  Sheri and I finally went back to sit in the car.  I got home at 6:45 and James was still gone.  I am a little hungry so I eat my leftover steak from last night, to tide me over until James comes home and we can get some dinner.

When James finally gets home he takes a shower and we head for Serranos even though it is after 8 pm.  Hey, it's taco Tuesday.

I ordered a chicken taco with a side of beans and rice but it ended up being a beef taco.  Oh well.

Kim and Brian came over this evening and gave James a $50 gift card to Olive Garden for his birthday.  Oh boy!
