"A Perfect Brightness of Hope"
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
"Speaking of Jesus, had we lived in those first years of the 19th century, we would have realized with great alarm that doubts about the reality of the Savior's life and Resurrection were beginning to take significant hold within Christendom. Therefore, we would have hoped for evidence to come to the whole world that would confirm the biblical witness that Jesus is the Christ, the literal Son of God, Alpha and Omega, and the only Savior this world will ever know.
It would have been among our dearest hopes that other scriptural evidence be brought forward, something that could constitute another testament of Jesus Christ, enlarging and enhancing our knowledge of His miraculous birth, wondrous ministry, atoning sacrifice, and glorious Resurrection. Truly such a document would be "righteousness sent down out of heaven; and truth sent forth out of the earth."

"Full Conversion Brings Happiness"

I am grateful for friends, family, and modern conveniences.

James started out this morning for Payson and then the valley in Tom Howard's truck. After less than an hour he called me and said the truck was not running right and could I pick him up at the Howard's in about 20 minutes. I said I could.

When I got to the Howard's, James was not there yet. Tom was out in the yard so I spoke with him. I think he thought I was there to see Jean but it was only 7:30 in the morning. I told him I was there to pick up James because he was having problems with the truck. Tom told me to go in the house and visit with Jean but I was not dressed appropriately for a visit. I tried calling Jean but she didn't answer. She called me back later and we were going to go to Persnikkity's for lunch but Jean said she had a doctor's appointment.

When James and I got home Alex was up sitting on the couch. He was anxious to go find the snake. He and James went outside and Alex carried the snake away in a bucket. He did not want to kill it. When he came back he found another snake. I wanted him to kill it but again he carried it off in a bucket. This picture says it all:

This picture makes my skin crawl

I was determined to get my 15,000 steps today. I walked almost all of the 15,000 in my bedroom while working on my blog and trying to buy books. I am concerned that I have been through three pages of books and have only found one to buy. Amazon is selling books cheap Prime keeping FBA sellers from making any profit. I'm not sure why. My balance right now is $796.30 but I am looking to the future and I am a little concerned.

James got Armando to pick up the fixtures in Payson and take them to the valley. He is still trying to decide when he needs to go down and meet with subcontractor's. I told him to hold off until next week because Darrel and Trina are coming tomorrow. Addy texted me and told me she could hardly wait. I said I felt the same way and for her to text me when they left. She said it would be in the morning and she would.

James and Chuck had a meeting about the road. It is probably going to cost us $5,000 a piece by the time we finish grading it and get the cinders down. Everything is so expensive. We still have the Razr to fix too which will probably cost around $3,000 and a fence to build, another $3,000. Oh yes, we also have a horse to feed.

I made chili this afternoon using leftover taco meat and Bush beans. I added a can of tomato soup. James loved it. He spent time with the boys this evening. First they played Hearts. It was Max's first time and he actually ran them once. Alex won.
James also took them out to look for coyotes but they had no success. The last great even was going to Anthony's to look for planets through his telescope. No planets were out this evening but they did see a meteor.

I worked on my budget and did some gospel studying but for some reason I did not feel well this evening. I ended up going to bed at 8:30.

Jesus Christ, Judge
DC 77:12
Q. What are we to understand by the sounding of the trumpets, mention in the 8th chapter of Revelation?
A. We are to understand that as God made the world in six days, and on the seventh day he finished his work, and sanctified it, and also formed man out of the dust of the earth, even so, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years will the Lord God sanctify the earth, and complete the salvation of man, and judge all things, and shall redeem all things except that which he hath not put into his power, when he shall have sealed all things, unto the end of all things; and the sounding of the trumpets of the seven angels are the preparing and finishing of his work, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years - the preparing of the way before the time of his coming.

James found three baby bunnies this morning. He brought one in to show me.

James got a call from Tom Howard this morning asking if I would call Jean. He said her bedroom door is locked and she is not answering it or her phone. I called and got no answer. Tom asked Jerry and Millie Scott to come over. They discovered Jean went out the outside door and was walking outside.

Tom said Jean had been acting funny last night and he was worried about her. I guess she needed someone to talk to and Millie is a good person to tell your troubles to. She has lots of wisdom and encouragement. Jean has been going to the doctors lately and they have been giving her the run around because they can't find out what is wrong with her. I will give her a couple of days and then I will call her.

James went to pick up his generator over by Stanford store this morning. On the way back he picked up the mail and the elastic Maxine left for me outside the church. Now I have elastic and there is no excuse for me not making the masks with the material Maxine gave me.

I read to James from "Aunt Dimity and the Village Witch" and then he went out to feed Luna before he left for Show Low. He has a $12,000 check from Show Low and I can only deposit up to $10,000 on my phone app.

James came back with a deposit slip and some more horsey feed.
He was tired so he laid down to take a nap. I was working on paying some bills. I noticed on my Amazon Store card that there was two charges in the month of April for Amazon Prime accounts. Since we started our business account under James's email address, I have not used my Amazon Prime account. What a waste. I tried to cancel it online but because I put in the wrong password and then didn't know the expiration date of an old credit card they had on file, I couldn't get in to my account to cancel it. I called and spoke to Andrea on the phone and told her why I wanted to cancel my Amazon Prime account. She did some research and said I had not used the account for 18 months therefore she was authorized to give me a credit of $248.04. This credit will be applied to my Amazon Store card. I was elated! There really are good customer service people out there and I told Andrea she made my day. I also gave her a five star rating.

When James woke up from his nap he went on a Luna ride. They were gone for over two hours, it was starting to get dark when the finally returned. While James was gone I bought season two of "Lark Rise to Candleford" on Amazon Prime. I watched the first episode alone and this evening James and I watched the second episode.

I have sold 465 books and 15 in the last week. My account balance, which is the total Amazon owes me is $248. I am excited!

Studied "Come Follow Me" and ran off the talks for our repentance study.

 Take Up Our Cross
Elder Ulisses Soares
"My dear friends, we must remember that taking our cross upon ourselves includes being humble and trusting in God and in His infinite wisdom We must acknowledge that He is aware of each of us and of our needs. It is also necessary to accept the fact that the Lord's timing is different than ours. Sometimes we seek for a blessing and set a time limit for the Lord to fulfill it. We cannot condition our faithfulness to Him by imposing upon Him a deadline for the answers to desires."

To help his disciples to understand that devotion to His work includes submission and suffering, the Savior emphatically declared:
"If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lost his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

I was listening to Elder Soares talk and when I heard "To help his disciples to understand that devotion to His work includes submission and suffering" it really struck me. I thought of the Prophet Joseph Smith and the suffering he endure for the gospel. I thought to myself, what have I suffered for the Lord to show Him that I love Him and want to obey Him? I have made sacrifices in order to be obedient but I don't consider that as suffering. Am I doing enough?

I am starting another blog. This one is to record my life history. It is called karenmaxwelllambson.blogspot.com. At least once a week I will be sharing a story from my past. I have been wanting to write my life story but it always feels so overwhelming. If I can do it a story at a time, line upon line, so to speak, maybe I can get started.

Another day spent at home blogging, working on books, walking, eating, and studying the gospel. Tomorrow we are scheduled to work at the temple. I do not have rolls to fix so I made some brownies instead.

My books are all inventoried and ready to ship. James helped me clean them up. I noticed one that I bought is an Indian edition. It looks just like the English edition but I am afraid to send it in because we are not supposed to sell Indian editions. I guess I will  get on the book arbitrage Facebook group and see if I can get some direction. In the mean time I may wait until next week to send in this shipment of books.

I made green chili stew today. I was going to take it to the temple tomorrow but decided not to. James and I will eat it on Sunday and then probably a few days next week when we get back from the valley.

Spent the evening studying JS-H 1:14-26 and 2 Nephi 29.

"Even while we are patiently waiting upon the Lord, there are certain blessings that come to us immediately."

I read an article in the Ensign today about receiving personal revelation. One of the things that struck me was this statement:
Serious reflection precedes revelation.

James and I left for town this morning a little after 11. We stopped at the Vernon Library to see Tamara and I picked up May birthday cards to sign for Relief Society sisters with birthdays in May. James went in to the 10 cent room to look for books. After I was done visiting with Tamara I joined him. We only came away with three books today. One of the books I got was a quilting book that was ranked really low and that I could sell for over $16 Prime.

James wanted me to take him home because he had a lot to do today but I talked him in to going to town and getting the oil changed in the car while I did my shopping at Walmart. He did a few other errands and then came to pick me up. I helped James unload some of the groceries and then got in the car. We stopped to get gas on the way out of town and as we were headed towards the Y I asked James where my clipboard was. He said, what clipboard? I said, the one that was in the cart with the groceries. He said, I didn't get it and I realize I also forgot all the soda on the bottom of the cart. He immediately turned around and we headed back to Walmart.

I don't know how he does it but James came back with my clipboard which had the recipe for the soup I'm fixing for the Howard's tonight, and the three 12-packs of soda that we left. The woman at the customer service desk said that once the groceries leave the store they don't replace them, but they did for James. I guess it's his charm.

As soon as we got home I started the soup.   I bought a roasted chicken and added chicken broth, carrots, celery and Rice-a-Roni chicken garlic flavored rice. Instead of using a crockpot which I didn't have time for, I used my cast iron pot.

It was raining when we loaded up the car to go to the Howard's and when we unloaded at their house.

Jean and Tom were alone. I expected the McNeil's and Hunter to be there but they were gone. Jean had set the table for four and insisted that we stay, so we did.

The soup was still hot, and we also had croissants, and a salad with nuts and berries. It was good and for dessert we had a Sock-It-To Me bundt cake. Jean brought out some Dr. Pepper and Coke for us to drink. When Tom said the blessing on the food he thanked the Lord for bringing the Lambson's into their lives, which made us feel good and we feel the same way about them. They are good people and we love them. It was a nice evening. It was stil raining when we left and when we got home. We went to bed with the sound of rain on our roof.

When we got home and all of our steps were done, we watched the newest episode of "Morning Show Mysteries" starring Holly Robinson Peete and Rick Fox. It was okay but I'm just not in to murder mysteries like I am Hallmark romances.
