Mosiah 17
Alma believes Abinadi and is cast out; Abinadi is burned.
* What lessons can we learn from Abinadi's example?
President Gordon B. Hinckley: "Be strong - in standing for the right.  We live in an age of compromise...In situations with which we are daily confronted, we know what is right....We must cultivate the strength to follow our convictions.
3 Nephi 11
Jesus Christ did show himself unto the people of Nephi, as the multitude were gathered together in the land Bountiful, and did minister unto them; and on this wise did he show himself unto them.
The Father testifies of His Beloved Son - Christ appears and proclaims His Atonement - The people feel the wound marks in His hands and feet and side - They cry Hosanna - He sets forth the mode and manner of baptism - The spirit of contention is of the devil - Christ's doctrine is that men should believe and be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. About A.D. 34.
DC 63:1-12
A day of wrath will come upon the wicked; Signs come by faith;
What are my feelings on faith and how has it helped me in my trials?
When I first came down with rheumatoid arthritis, I was bedridden.  My children were 12, 10, 9,7, and 5.  I could here them running around the house but I could do nothing.  I could not even open a door.  The thing that gave me hope was reading the scriptures and a book by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, "The Power of Positive Thinking."  One scripture in particular became my mantra: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phillipians 4:13.  This scripture and keeping my thoughts positive and hopeful,  got me through one of the most difficult times in my life.  It is my faith in Christ that keeps me going.
General Conference
The Voice of Warning
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
"While the duty to warn is felt especially keenly be prophets,
it is a duty shared by others as well."

My visiting teachers, Kailee and Deana came by for a visit at 9:30 this morning.  We had a good discussion about the priesthood and our responsibility to remind our husbands of their responsibilities in the priesthood.  We talked about memorizing DC 84:33-44 as Sister Burton asked us to.  She says if we memorize this oath and covenant of the priesthood the Holy Ghost will expand our understanding of the priesthood and inspire and uplift us in wonderful ways.  I have started to memorize it along with "The Living Christ" and "The Family Proclamation." (I started last year, and picked it up again this year after general conference.)

Right after Kailee and Deana left I loaded up the car and James drove me to Hailey's.  It takes about 45 minutes to get there.  Today was a very windy day and there were dark storm clouds behind Hailey's house. Hailey's husband is a rancher.  She told me they ordered some hay and when he fed it to his cattle the first four fell over dead.  They had nitrate poisoning.  The levels of nitrate in hay are suppose to be around 700.  The nitrates in this hay were 5,900.
They have the hay locked up in the barn away from the cows and are using it for their horses.  What a tragedy.  I have never heard of such a thing before.  Hailey loved the candle and Power Ade I gave her.
Use the priesthood power as an 'ade in
your life.

When we got home James and I had tuscany tomato bisque soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.  Delicious!  I got the soup at Safeway yesterday from their "soup bar."

I read two chapters to James from our book "To Kill a Mockingbird."  I think he is beginning to enjoy it.

After my nap this afternoon I watched DWTS.  Maks is back with Heather and they got a perfect score for their rumba and then Heather was voted off the show.  I guess it isn't always about who is the best dancer, because she was definitely better than three of the guys that are left.  I hate it when it becomes a popularity contest instead of about the talent.

James is leaving early tomorrow so he loaded up the back of his truck and the trailer tonight.

He says there are still no brakes on the trailer.
Should I be worried?

While I was outside taking the above picture I happened to
catch this one of the sunset:

Beautiful!

James and I watched a movie on the Hallmark movies and mysteries channel called: McBride: Dogged.  It stars John Larroquette.  We both really liked it.

Some fun photos:

Detroit, Michigan
63rd operating temple

Jacob 5:15-28
Second visit to the House of Israel in the Meridian of time.  Christ and His Apostles.  Roots of the tame olive tree are gospel covenants or promises.  Fruit - Works of men; Digging, pruning, fertilizing - The Lord's work for His children; Transplanting - scattering, restoring; Grafting - Spiritual rebirth and joined to the covenant; Decay-Apostasy;  Fire-Judgments of God.  Regarding verse 25, where do you think this might be?
Alma 45-46
45 Helaman believes the words of Alma - Alma prophesies the destruction of the Nephites - He blesses and curses the land - Alma may have been taken up by the Spirit, even as Moses - Dissension grows in the Church. About 73 B.C.
46 Amalickiah conspires to be king - Moroni raises the title of liberty - He rallies the people to defend their religion - True believers are called Christians - A remnant of Joseph will be preserved - Amalickiah and the dissenters flee to the land of Nephi - Those who will not support the cause of freedom are put to death.
DC 45:12-23
11-15, Enoch and his brethren were received by the Lord unto Himself; 16-23, Christ revealed signs of His coming as given on the Mount of Olives;
What verses stood out to me today?
* Verses 16-17. Verse 16 is the beginning of the Olivet Discourse as given in Matthew 24-25.  Joseph Smith's inspired corrections of the Olivet Discourse are so significant that they have been included in the Pearl of Great Price (see JS-Matthew).

"To Whom Shall We Go? "
Elder M. Russell Ballard
"My heartfelt plea is that we will encourage, accept, understand, and love those who are struggling with their faith.  We must never never neglect any of our brothers and sisters.  We are all at different places on the path, and we need to minister to one another accordingly."

My visiting teacher's, Kailee and Deana came for a visit today.  Deana is my friend Jean's daughter and today is Jean's birthday:

Deana says her mom is her super hero.
She is one of my heroes too.

I am so grateful for visiting teachers.  They brought the Spirit into my home.  Also, Deana told me of a new plan that Verizon has for unlimited data.  She said they were on the 30 GB per month plan and she changed to unlimited for $15 a month less. I am calling tomorrow!

The rest of the day I watched Hallmark movies while working on my blog.  I shared with the family scripture group Michael's answer to today's question.  I got a response from Paul and Jared.  We are all hoping that Michael will decide to serve a mission.

One of the great couples in our ward,
Sean and Stefani.

James had problems digging Sal's sewer line today.  He broke an irrigation line.  After working all day digging and solving problems he went to the Queen Creek Primary Care and worked until 3 a.m. tearing down a wall.  I am grateful for Alex and Shana for coming to help him.  When I ask him what he thought of Shana he said: "She is very sweet and not afraid of hard work."

Fun Photos:

While the mom's away, the kids will play.

Dear sweet Addy

So true.

I know it's all over but I just had to post again.

He's always cold.

I got up around six this morning to finish the floor.  My back is really hurting so I am moving kind of slow.  I do find time to read scriptures and have family prayer with James before my visiting teachers come.  I did finish most of the floor.  I still need to go back and do some touch up but it looks fine for now.

Alicia and Colter Hunsaker, James entertained Colter, and Dianne Gillaspy visited.  This is the first time for me to meet Dianne  She seems very nice and she really liked our house.  We had a nice visit but after everyone was gone I was tired.  It was time for some rest and relaxation.  I read with James, watched The Walton's and ate some of the zucchini bread that Alicia brought.
Here is a picture of the Hunsaker family.
The Kip and Alicia Hunsaker Family

James had a physical therapy appointment in Show Low this afternoon and I had a meeting at the church with Diana Curtis.  James drove himself to his physical therapy appointment.  I was a little nervous, but he was confident he could do it.  Before I left for my meeting Kathy Crane brought a wagon load of veggies over from her garden.  She wanted to give me more, but I told her there was just the two of us and we didn't need that much.

My meeting with Diana Curtis was to plan for Saturday's fundraiser.  Diana is very organized so this was just the final planning meeting.

James brought back burros from LaCasita.  Yummy!!  The book "Visions of Glory" came today and we started reading it.  It is going to be very interesting.

We went on a short Razr ride to call some elk and then we watched The Walton's and a Hallmark move, Garage Sale Diva.  It was a very nice day.

I am reading Mormon chapter 6 and crying.  Everyone is wicked, except Moroni, who is keeping the record.  I quote from Mormon 6:17 - "O ye fair ones, how could ye have departed from the ways of the Lord!  O ye fair ones, how could ye have rejected that Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you!"

I talked to Sheri yesterday and asked her what Evan wanted for Christmas.  She said he wants a train that works.  I saw one yesterday at The Book Barn.  I made a trip into town this morning to pick it up.  Afterwards I did some shopping at Walmart and then stopped at Wendy's for some chili.  I didn't get a frosty this time.  I am trying to cut down on my sugar consumption.  I am surviving on sugar free cough drops and diet Dr. Pepper.

My visiting teachers, Alicia Hunsaker, and Linda Price came by for a visit this afternoon.  I always enjoy their visits.  Poor little Colter was sick today and never left his mother's lap.

I made chocolate chip cookies this afternoon to take to Mutual.  Both the young men and young women are going to Mary Swift's basketball game.  I was the only Young Women leader who went.  When we got there Shelly and I were the only ones with money.  So we paid for everyone.  I am sure the ward will reimburse us.  Monte and Tasha's daughter Kaitlynn is on the team also and Dennis, Harold, Vickie, Cher, Monte, and Tasha were all at the game.  I sat by Dennis and had a nice visit. We lost the game to St. Johns.

I came home and fell asleep watching "Matchmaker Santa."  James tried to call me but I had my phone turned off.  I texted him to let him know I was okay.
