Jesus Christ, Davidic Descent of
Luke 1:32
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Book of Mormon #1
3 Nephi 23:1-14
*What value is there in searching the scriptures and the prophets?
- Today I quote from 3 prophets because I couldn't choose one.
The Prophet Joseph Smith: "Search the scriptures - search the revelations and ask your Heavenly Father, in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, to manifest the truth unto you, and if you do it with an eye single to His glory, nothing doubting, He will answer you by the power of His Holy Spirit. You will then know for yourselves. You will not then be dependent on man for the knowledge of God; nor will there be any room for speculation. When men/women receive their instruction from Him that made them, they know how He will save them."
President Gordon B. Hinckley: "I am grateful for the emphasis on reading the scriptures. I hope that for you this will become something far more enjoyable than a duty; that rather, it will become a love affair with the word of God. I promise you that as you read, your minds will be enlightened and your spirits will be lifted. At first it may seem tedious, but that will change into a wondrous experience with thoughts and words of things divine."
President Henry B. Eyring: "The Holy Ghost will guide what we say if we study and ponder the scriptures every day. The words of the scriptures invite the Holy Spirit. With daily study of the scriptures we can count on this blessing. We treasure the word of God not only by studying them. We may be nourished more by pondering a few words, allowing the Holy Ghost to make them treasures to us, than by passing quickly and superficially over whole chapters of scripture."
Karen Lambson: "I love reading the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon.

Come, Listen to a Prophet's Voice
Bishop Dean M. Davies
"As we solidify in our lives the practice of listening to and heeding the voice of the living prophets, we will reap eternal blessings."

I got up at 5:12 and ate, read from the Book of Mormon and said my prayers before leaving for the valley at 6:45. My dentist appointment is at 10:30 in Chandler so we should get there on time.
We had to stop in Globe to check the air in our tires and then we were on our way. James asked if I wanted to share a breakfast burrito from Burger House but I said no, I was going to the dentist. I didn't even eat any of the cookies on the way down.

I arrived at Dr. Douglas's at 10:10. Usually they take me right back but they were busy today so I had to wait until about 10:35.
The assistant who took me back mentioned that they would be working on the crown on the upper left side of my mouth. I told her about my crown on the right side that fell out and she said that would be the priority.  Dr. Douglas came in and looked at the crown. She said it was chipped so she had the assistant make a mold for a new one. Afterwards Dr. D came back in to put the old one back in until the new one is ready. She pushed what was left of my tooth around and said it was very weak and seemed to be crumbling. She took an xray which revealed a crack beneath my gum line. I asked her what that meant and she said it needed to be pulled and I would need to have a referral to see an oral surgeon about getting an implant. That is not what I wanted to hear!  She said it was probably because I have dry mouth. It might be but it is also probably because I eat sweets. I felt so guilty.

When I went in I was concerned about getting shot and when I left I was worried about something far worse. My trips to the dentist are so disappointing!

When I told James the news he was very understanding and sweet about it. To drown my sorrows, we went to Olive Garden for lunch. I had a new dish I didn't particularly care for, braised beef and tortelloni, I should have ordered soup, zuppa toscana, and salad. I ate about half and took the rest home. James ordered the stuffed chicken marsala, his favorite.

After lunch we drove over to see Lois. Rebecca was there too. Every Thursday they do crafts together. Today they were working on Christmas ornaments. I asked Rebecca how Christina was doing because I knew she had had oral surgery a few days ago. She said this was her fifth oral surgery and that previous implants had not taken. Christina never had her adult teeth grow in in the back. She said she thought this surgery was going to be successful. Now I don't feel so sorry for myself.

While we were there James checked the roof because in the last storm where they received a record five inches of rain,  a water spot showed up on the ceiling in the family room. He said he could not find where the leak was coming from and that she should call her insurance company and tell them she had a contractor inspect the roof.

We had a nice visit. It was funny how Lois kept calling Rebecca, Dawn. Lois had her ipad out and was showing us the flowers made from ribbon that she wanted to do. She is one hip grandma.

We left Lois's and went to Sheri's to give Max a hug. He and Alex were outside playing wuffle ball. Sheri says they are very close and it somewhat fills the void of Ben being gone for Max. Sheri was getting ready to go pick up Evan from school and invited me to go but I told her we were going over to Darrel's to take a nap before taking the boys out for Evan's birthday this evening. She said Evan went to school even though he has a double ear infection because he hates to miss school. Max and Sheri spent the morning at the endocrinologists. They gave Max a long-lasting insulin shot and told him not to have any carbs until the next appointment on Tuesday. Yeah, right,  teenage boy not having any carbs for five days.

When we got to Darrel's no one was there but within five minutes Darrel, Addy, Ruby, and Lola drove up. The girls helped us carry in our stuff. Lola was the most eager. I sure do love these sweet girls.
Trina was at work today so Darrel was driving Big Bertha.
Ruby and Lola both wanted to play with me. I watched Lola play on her tablet and Darrel and I played one game with Ruby before I went up to take a nap.

After our naps James and I got ready to go and waited for Rowan to get home from cross country practice. He's only a sixth grader but he is very fast!

I had Stacy drop Joshua off at Sheri's because of the lateness of the hour, it was after 6:30 when we got there and tomorrow is school day. We left our car and took the boys in Sheri's van. Evan wanted to go to the Chandler mall because it was "tradition."
Our first stop was at the food court. James took Max and Evan to Subway and I took Rowan and Joshua to Villa pizza. This is also according to tradition. When Max ordered a footlong sub James questioned him. Max said it was okay because his mom gave him an insulin shot before he left. He also did order whole wheat which means the fiber will slow the insulin down and that is good.

After dinner we again asked Evan what he wanted to do. He said he wanted to go to the pet store. The boys felt sorry for the dogs having to be stuck in such small "cages." Rowan is obsessed with getting a dog. He said his mom finally said he could but now his mom has to convince his dad. He said he won't ask his dad because it makes him upset. He took a picture of a little dog he liked. Her name is Buffy.

Right next to the pet store is a place called Bump and Roll. This is what Evan wanted to do. It cost $10 a person for 15 minutes so that's what they did. Here is a picture of the boys after they were finished. They actually got inside those big balls behind them and roll around and bump in to each other.

Happy Birthday Evan!

Right next door to the Bump and Roll is a virtual reality store. Evan says next time we might do that. They did the Bump and Roll two years ago and that's why Evan wanted to do it this year.

We got Max, Evan, and Joshua home before 9, but not before Stacy texted to see when we would be home. Rowan was a little later and he had homework.

When we got back to Darrel's Trina was home making cookies. The house smelled great. James and I went for a walk before bed.

When I went to bed he was sitting on the couch reading from one of the Fablehaven books. Thanks Rowan for letting us have your room and bed.

Took a walk with James around the block several times
before going to bed.

Jesus Christ, Davidic Descent of
Matthew 22:42
Saying, What think ye of Christ? Whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
Book of Mormon
3 Nephi 22:1-17
*What do these verses teach us about the "heritage of the servants of the Lord?"
- These scriptures mention words like; shame of thy youth..forsaken..grieved in spirit..barren..ashamed..afflicted. The point? Life is going to be hard. We may feel tossed to and fro, but that is part of the plan. The work of the Lord requires our faith, support and prayers. Though there will be times of loneliness, pain and hardships, the Lord has the power to protect, build and bless us. In vs-7-8 he can and will show kindness and mercy through the atonement. What is our heritage in serving the Lord? Safety and protection.

Firm and Steadfast in the Faith of Christ
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
"In the most recent general conference, President Russell M. Nelson declared: "You don't have to wonder about what is true. You do not have to wonder whom you can safely trust. Through personal revelation, you can receive your own witness that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that Joseph Smith is a prophet, and that this is the Lord's Church. Regardless of what others may say or do, no one can ever take away a witness borne to your heart and mind about what is true."

Some of the election results are in. The US House will be controlled by democrats and the Senate will be controlled by republicans.

We got some sad family news today. Max has diabetes. I guess he has had several symptoms so Sheri took him to the doctor. His blood sugar was way over 200 so they sent him to Cardon's Children Hospital in Mesa. We thought he would stay over night but they gave him lantis, the long-acting insulin and sent him home. He has to go to the endocrinologist in the morning.
She says he is pretty angry right now, which I guess is to be expected. We are going to the valley tomorrow and I asked James if we could leave and go down right now but he said no. He has work to do for the Howard's and he is also working on the Mesa project.

Thanks to Adam for leaving frozen burgers in our freezer. We had a couple of them for lunch. They were tasty. James went right back to work but not before we said a prayer for Max.

I put a book for sale on Amazon but I'm not sure I did it right because it says free shipping. It's supposed to be "fulfilled by Amazon" but I may have done "Merchant fulfilled." Guess I will put a question in to the help line.

I made cookies today, just because I was craving them. We can take them with us tomorrow. I also had Christmas movies on most of the day: "Very Merry Mixup," "Christmas Detour," and "Magic Stocking."

When James got home he spent a couple of hours on the phone looking for a couple to sub for us at the temple on Saturday so we can go to the Lambson reunion at Discovery Park in Gilbert. He finally called Barry Flake, an old friend from high school and he said he and his wife would do it for us. We will work for them next week on Thursday afternoon. I really like Barry. When I was in high school I got my car stuck in the mud at Dag's Reservoir, now White Mountain Lake and no one could get me out. Barry went home and got his dad's high powered truck and pulled me out. I have loved him ever since! Now I have reason to love him again!

17,000 steps before going to bed!

These two make my day!

That's Talon on the left in front.
He is in the Uganda mission, probably at the MTC.

James was Dahlia's bishop. He was going to go to the sealing
but I was sick so he stayed home.

I believe this photo was taken during the
solemn assembly when he was sustained as
the Prophet.

Wish we had a slide by our stairs.

Matthew 12:23
And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
Book of Mormon #1
3 Nephi 21:1-29
* What signs of the gathering of Israel do we see today?
- Jesus told the Nephites He would give them "a sign"(3 Ne. 21:1) so they would know when the gathering of Israel had begun. He then foretold the Restoration of the Gospel the coming forth of the Book of Mormon, the establishment of a free nation in America, and the taking of the gospel to their seed (v.1-7). He called the Restoration of the latter days "a great and a marvelous work (v.9) In the early days of the Restoration, the Savior said "a marvelous work is about to come forth" (DC 4:1). President Gordon B. Hinckley spoke of the Restoration and of our responsibility to help move the work forward: "This glorious gospel was ushered in with the appearance of the Father and the Son to the boy Joseph. The dawn of the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times rose upon the world. All of the good, the beautiful, the divine of all previous dispensations was restored in this most remarkable season. Do we really comprehend, do we understand the tremendous significance of that which we have? We of this generation are the end harvest of all that has gone before. It is not enough to simply be know as a member of this Church. A solemn obligation rests upon us. We must live as true followers of Christ, with charity toward all, returning good for evil, teaching by example the ways of the Lord, and accomplishing the vast service He has outlined for us." (Ensign, May 2004, 83-4).

Truth and the Plan
President Dallin H. Oaks
"When we seek the truth about religion, we should use spiritual methods appropriate for that search: prayer, the witness of the Holy Ghost, and study of the scriptures and the words of modern prophets."

As I was sitting on the recliner this morning trying to get the umph to get up and get dressed, James brought me a plate of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries with whipped cream. Wow! Talk about service! He also brought me some hot and sour soup per my request and then came and sat by me while he ate his venison steak and eggs. I made him watch Evanna and Keo's rumba from Dancing with the Stars. It was my favorite dance of the night. Evanna is the girl who played Luna Lufgood in the Harry Potter movies and she is a great dancer. I kinda hope she wins but I think the winner will be either Milo, who is a Disney star, or Juan Pablo from Full House. Whatever happens I wish Grocery Store Joe from the Bachelor or Bachelorette would go home. He can't dance people! Why are you voting for him? Kim says its the Bachelor Nation. Well I never liked that show and now I like it even less!

We had a new family arrive today. They bought a house in Vernon and their things are being shipped later. They forgot to bring any bedding so the Relief Society presidency went to work. Between Tamara, Maxine, Kerri, Kathy, and I we came up with bedding, cots, and a baby gate on very short notice. Tamara said the Campbell family is very appreciative.

I felt a little better today, at least I had more energy. I do feel like there is a heavy weight on my chest, but at least my cough and sore throat are better. I caught up on my blog and worked a little on the book business. James went into town and mailed the book to Amazon that I bought a week or so ago. We will make a little money if Amazon accepts it, which they should.

While James went into town to mail the book at UPS and do some other errands, I looked for book trades but had no luck. I also learned what a gated book is and how to find out if the book you want to buy is gated, which means you can't buy it. James checked the three books he has bought and none of them are gated.

Our goal is to put 100 books on Amazon to sell before the end of the month. We better get busy!

We really need to get this business going before James's surgery on December 5th. He will be out of commission for several weeks after that.

Happy 12th Birthday Evan!
I agree Sheri! He is pretty amazing
and I love him with all my
heart too! Looking forward to
seeing him in a couple of days!

Hope you had a great day Evan!

Gather Together in One All Things in Christ

"I pray that the Holy Ghost will enlighten each of us as we consider how the principle of gathering together in one all things in Christ applies in practical ways to learning and living His restored gospel in our daily lives."

I watched part of the movie "Annie Claus is Coming To Town" this morning. I like this quote by Annie: "Infuse yourself with the Christmas spirit and life just looks better."

James spent most of the morning outside cutting up his deer and packaging it in freezer bags. Now we have venison for Thanksgiving morning and Christmas morning. He also worked on our book business.

I emailed Ben, paid bills, worked a little on my blog, and walked and that's about all that I accomplished. I did watch a few Christmas movies which I normally have playing in the background. Oh yes, I made cookies for Sister Dye this evening and James delivered them. Today is her birthday.

We got a book we ordered for a trade-in so we prepared it to mail to Amazon. Hopefully they will like it and we will make a few dollars.

For FHE we listened to Elder Bednar's conference talk and then James worked on the computer looking for more books to buy while I watched a new Christmas movie, "Marrying Father Christmas." I still have a sore throat, and cough and now my chest hurts. I am going to try to sleep in my own bed tonight thought.
James built a fire before we went to bed.

Country night on DWTS. Kim and Stacy discuss voting. I sent Kim my friend Lina's suggestions on how to vote.
