Answers to Prayer
Brook P. Hales
"Sometimes, the answer to prayer that we so righteously, desperately, and earnestly seek is not given in this life."

Bishop Miller sent out an email today and ask the ward members to please include the Kostusiak family in our fast. Dave has taken a turn for the worse and is no longer breathing on his own. He also had to have a blood transfusion.

The McMillan's left this morning after breakfast. They were most appreciative of staying with us and expressed their gratitude. We really enjoyed having them here. Eli is staying and going home with Sheri and Ian this afternoon.

The McMillan family
Michael: Has gone to Africa to help build schools.
Aly: Plays the piano and works for a charity business.
Sam: Prayed when the electricity went out.
Eli: Played 5 Crowns with us and he's a human calculator
Frasure: Just turned 9 and wants a guitar so he can play like Max.
Frasure is also into martial arts.

Sheri, Max, Eli and I played a game of Five Crowns. For being his first time Eli did very well and he added up scores in his head faster than I could do it on my phone calculator. He told us a couple of family secrets and it was fun listening to his British accent.

Sheri and I watched "Love in Rome" and then it was time for her to get ready to go home. They left around 2 or so.

Ian: An artist and UPS driver
Sheri: Mom and office manager at Chandler Eyecare
Max: Plays the guitar and sings. Excellent memory.
Eli: Lives in Birmingham, England in a 111 year old house just down the road from the Cadburry chocolate factory.
Evan: Obedient, quiet, conscientious and a great artist. He doesn't like bats in the house. I don't either so that's why I'm ordering a sonic blaster to scare him off.

Can you find Max with his guitar?

James and I started our fast, walked, and watched the newest Hallmark movie this afternoon and evening. We also did a little work outside and on the computer.

The day of the infamous Razr ride

Sheri and Ian finished the puzzle before they left
but not before Frasure left. He was a little
disappointed ... but not too much.

 What is it about climbing?

Jesus Christ betrayal of
John 13:21
When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
Book of Mormon
Mosiah 19:25-20:11
* Why did the Lord let Limhi's people end up in bondage?
- sue_heugly: There are two kinds of bondage: The self-inflicted kind from poor choices and iniquity, and the kind that comes from the consequences and choices of others. Limhi's people chose sin, which is to serve Satan. Abinadi warned and prophesied that the people would be brought into bondage because they hardened their hearts against Abinadi's words and wouldn't repent. The dues of discipleship do not come cheap. If we want blessings and freedom from bondage, we must be loyal to God, obey his prophets, keep the commandments and remain humble, submitting our will to His. A blessing always carries with it a responsibility, and a consequence.
Old Testament
1 Samuel 4
The Israelites are smitten and defeated by the Philistines, who also capture the ark of God - Eli's sons are slain, Eli dies in an accident, and his daughter-in-law dies in childbirth.

Let Us All Press On
President Russell M. Nelson
"Your desire to obey will be enhanced as you remember and reflect upon what you have felt these past two days."

Rescuing Wayward Children (221) "When you are united, your power is limitless." - Gordon B. Hinckley

Russell M. Nelson:(4/99) Our Sacred Duty to Honor Women

The Atoning One Chapter 9: "Potential Perils of Grace",
Chapter 10: "The Gospel of God", Chapter 11: "Speaking of the Lord's Atonement"
I am a little sad I finished this book today because I have really enjoyed it. Next I am going to listen to Elder and Sister Renlund's book, The Melchizedek Priesthood.

At 8 a.m. I left for town, about 20 minutes behind James. We are taking the truck and Lexy in to get new tires. James has to pay for his, I don't have to pay for mine. It's to replace the used one they put on a few days ago when I got a flat coming home from the Morrison's.

They got our tires on in less than 30 minutes. We took a short walk and it was time to go. Next stop, Walmart, to get the oil changed in Lexy. James made the arrangements and then left. I walked down to the mailbox and mailed the note I wrote to President Shumway.
Now it's time to go in and do my weekly shopping.

I took my time shopping, calculating all my expenses. I checked out and then went to see if my car was ready. I sat in the little waiting room and watched some of Harry Potter. I could see the hood still up on Lexy so I took a spin around the store. This trip is going to be more costly than it seems because I found things to put on my wish list: Grabbit Stick, Black memory foam shoes, "Oh The Places You'll Go" Dr. Seuss book, "Coco,"the movie, and "Coco book and playset. "Star Wars 5 Minute Stories." I actually went home and used my Amazon gift card to by two of the books and the movie. I also bought the movie, "Wonder" because Stacy said it was so good.
Two more things on my wishlist, cute photo album papers, and some new Ginger scissors.

Finally after a few more trips around the store and the passing of two hours, Lexy was finished. I paid the girl, got my report, and loaded up Lexy for home.

I got home and put everything away and sat down in my recliner wondering where James was. He came in a few minutes later with Brother Howard's Cat skidsteer on his trailer. I was watching a Hallmark movie and he sat down and finished watching it with me.

For dinner we had cooked cabbage. For F.H.E. we listened to President Nelson's conference talk from October 1999, "A Testimony of the Book of Mormon."

James took me outside to show me how to feed the bunnies. There was a full moon behind clouds that looked rather eerie.

8th grade. Better than his dad.

These two are pretty amazing.

Alma 46:29-41
How did hoisting the Title of Liberty upon every tower in the land help the people maintain perspective?
What helps me keep perspective in today's world?
*My title is found in m patriarchal blessing. The natural woman in me wants to act different than that title, and so it is a constant reminder of my true self and who Heavenly Father created me to be.
DC 109:21-40
How does one show reverence in the temple and in meeting houses?
*By being quiet, and turning our thoughts to God.

Our Father's Glorious Plan
Elder Weatherford T. Clayton
"In that moment of death, the room was filled with peace. Even in our moments of deepest grief, in the moments when time stands still and life seems so unfair, we can find comfort in our Savior because He suffered as well."

Our Good Shepherd
Elder Dale G. Renlund
"The Saviors compassion, love, and mercy draw us toward Him. Through His Atonement, we are no longer satisfied with our sinful state. God is clear about what is right and acceptable to Him and what is wrong and sinful. This is not because He desires to have mindless, obedient followers. No, our Heavenly Father desires that His children knowingly and willingly choose to become like Him and qualify for the kind of life He enjoys. In doing so, His children fulfill their divine destiny and become heirs to all that He has.

James went with some other members of the High Priest Group to help a sister move from Show Low to Vernon. While he was gone I watched "Recipe for Love."
When James returned he said the house she is moving in to has no drywall, it is just an outside shell. There was not enough room in the house for all her stuff so they left it outside in the yard. Others who went to help: Chuck, Mel, Chris, Owen, and Wes.

It continued to be a lazy day for me. James continues to work on the greenhouse.

I got a text from Adam today wanting to borrow money. He says he is going to school to learn Japanese. In two years he plans on moving to Japan where he will teach English. He says Kristofor and his wife Kris are going too. I am just grateful that he has a plan.

The Hatch's are having a reunion in Germany. They have a boat parked in the Adriatic Sea which is their swimming hole.

We watched the new Garage Sale Mystery/Beach.

The full moon was gorgeous tonight!
