"Light Cleaveth Unto Light"
Elder Timothy J. Dyches
Of the Seventy
During His mortal ministry, Jesus declared, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." The Spirit of Christ "is in all things and giveth life to all things." It conquers the darkness that otherwise would surround us.
P6
Of the Living Christ, the Prophet Joseph wrote: "His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure show; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying: "I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father" (D&C 110:3-4).

Family Memory
When Evan and Joshua were pre-schoolers I would watch them at my house. Joshua lived there and we would wait for Evan to appear when his mom dropped him off on her way to work. Most mornings when Evan came in he would say: "Can we go to Burger King? When I said yes, both of them would say: "We want hamburgers, ketchup only and fries." We started our day with a hamburger and fries most days.
I found this quote by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin on faith in my little pinkish read quote book:
"Faith exists when absolute confidence in that which we cannot see combines with action that is in absolute conformity to the will of our Heavenly Father. Without all three - first, absolute confidence; second, action; and third, absolute conformity; all we have is a weak and watered-down faith." (Ensign, Nov. 2002, 83).
Listened to Greg M. on CWIC, Come Follow Me. Afterwards I went in to the kitchen to make cookies. James is going to go with me to Candace S. and Aubrey H.'s as part of my Relief Society visits. James was struggling on the computer this morning trying to download pictures to send to the insurance company for the accident he was in last week. A guy ran in to the back of him when he was getting off the freeway. Not much damage except for the bumper. He says he needs a new one. He was so frustrated and kept asking for my help while I was trying to bake cookies.
I use Mrs. Field's cookie recipe and always divide the recipe in half, which I started to do today. One cup of brown sugar, one cup of white sugar, two sticks of butter, and two eggs. Only instead of two eggs, I put in four. Now what do I do? Have extra eggie cookies or double all of the other ingredients. I chose to double the other ingredients which means I made an extra large batch of cookies.
I baked two dozen and gave 18 to Aubrey and 6 to Candace. Aubrey is Pierce's daughter and she and her family live above his shop while they wait for their house to be finished. She seems very nice and is quite cute, probably in her mid 40's. She has a son in Tucson who is living there until he graduates from high school, and she has two young daughters, one who is four and another who is six. She is also a dental hygienist and says she would be happy to clean my teeth. Also she will be a ministering sister and would prefer going in the evenings. James and I said goodbye and left Aubrey and her four year old daughter with a pan of cookies.
Candace S. lives 31 minutes from our house and has a Concho address. I am so grateful that James went with me. I went to visit her with Kerri about two years ago but had no memory of how to get there. I did recognize the house when we arrived. Candace wasn't home but someone named Cody came out to greet us. We gave him the plate of cookies and a jar of jam with a homemade label that said "If you're ever in a jam, here I am" and then my name and phone number at the bottom. Cody said Candace was at work. She s a dog groomer at PetSmart in Show Low. Brother Peeler says that's where he usually visits her. I wanted to visit her at least once at home so I would recognize her in the store. I will try again in a few weeks. Oh yes, there is a sign as you enter Candace's property, Candyland Ranch.
When we returned home I was able to send the photos of James's truck and the VIN and case number to the insurance company. Thank goodness. We never did figure out how to use their app. We just emailed the information to the adjuster.
I ordered my dad a headstone this afternoon from Legacy Headstones. It cost $300 and will be delivered to our house. James, hopefully will be able to install it when it comes as he did his dad's.
James went to help the Finnell's move from the Wallace's cabin to the house they bought from Sister Tice, a former member of our ward. James said they had so many things to move. He hooked up their washer and dryer for them. Thankfully they had a great turn out from the elder's quorum as there were 21 there to help.
James also went over to Elkin's to get ready for a concrete pour. I worked upstairs cleaning bathrooms. I started a new book by our friend Stephanie Black. It's called, "Fool Me Twice." Stephanie is a writer for Deseret Book. She was in our ward in Chandler and we got to know her and her husband Brian. She is Bruce R. McConkie's granddaughter. She writes murder mystery novels.
James and I are so excited because FamilySearch finally put on more Business and City Directories to index! Woohoo!
