I was up at 4:45. James is up to therefore I am on his schedule. A back and thumb rub and then 10 minutes with the heating pad. Prayer, Book of Mormon, and "Come Follow Me." He left for work at 6 o'clock.

After taking 2 Tramadol and 2 Tylenol I needed to lie down until it went into effect. I laid on the family room recliner and turned the heating pad on and listened to President Oaks' talk, "Divine Helps for Mortality." I followed along in my conference notebook, underlining important passages and choosing a favorite quote. I then listened to Elder Uchtdorf's talk, "By This All Will Know That Ye Are My Disciples." By the time Elder Uchtdorf's talk was over I felt ready to get up. It is hard to explain the surge of energy and well being I feel after taking my pills and resting. I am ready to face the day!

Sheri texted this message in our family group text today:
I got a text this morning saying that grandmother is now staying at Terry & Cathi's.

Sheri was worried about Dawn staying alone in Tempe, but she is staying at Terry & Cathi's too. They also have Cathi's daughter Wendy staying with them and Terry's son Brian. They have a house full.

This was Dawn's idea. She just doesn't feel like she can adequately take care of her Mom anymore. She doesn't understand when the hospice nurse tries to explain what Mom needs. Her condition, Dawn's, is deteriorating quickly.

I did my morning devotional and then went back to my 4th of July blog post and inserted a picture of the flag. This flag is so important to me. I have been wanting one for a long time. It reminds me of the blessings associated with the promised land and keeping the commandments of God. If we do so, we will prosper in the land. We are so blessed to live in this free country. I pray that we will always live worthy of the great freedoms we enjoy. I pray we will work to protect those freedoms, especially those associated with freedom of religion.

James got back from work at noon. We left at 2:00 for the valley. We stopped at Cress Miller's to give her her care package. She had just returned from town with her family and was in a great deal of pain. She just had knee surgery. I told her I hoped she could lie down and get some rest before she did anything else. She thanked me for her basket.

Our next stop was at Pam Giles'. It just started to sprinkle when we arrived. She came outside to meet me and thanked me and we hugged after I gave her her basket. It felt good to do something nice for someone else. I loved seeing Pam, it's been a long time. She texted me later about her dog and I will share it another time, maybe tomorrow.

We stopped in Payson for gas and a potty break.  When we got to the valley we drove straight down Country Club to the Costco on Baseline and Country Club. I told James I thought it would be less busy than the one in Chandler or the one in Gilbert.

We got a flat bed cart and loaded up the following items: 5 cases of Fairlife chocolate shakes, three Premium Protein cases, two strawberry flavored and one chocolate flavored. James also got Pom and Acai juice. We loaded up our car and headed for the Chandler Hobby Lobby on Chandler Blvd. just west of Price.

At Hobby Lobby I bought potpourri, artificial flowers and plants to make an arrangement in a "moon shine" bottle. I also got an orange plaid quilt, a picture frame for Catherine's picture of the Savior and a big metal pumpkin to hang on our front door for fall. Hobby Lobby is always a season ahead. They were even starting to put out some Christmas things.

There is a Walmart next to Hobby Lobby. While I was shopping James had a tuna sub at the Subway inside the store. I bought turkey sausage, cheese, two small blankets, a chair cushion to sleep with, some legal pads for James, and two purple notebooks for myself.

By this time we were quite thirsty. We went to Sonic and I ordered a "dirty" diet Sprite with one lime. When you order "dirty" they put some kind of creamy mixture in your drink. I will never order another one unless it's during happy hour because it cost over $4 for a medium drink. James wanted a Circle K Polar Pop. His drink was bigger and it only cost  seventy nine cents.

We went through the carwash next to Sonic and then headed for Stacy & Paul's. Stacy had just gotten home from work. Stacy said we should bring in our shakes because in the heat the plastic would break down and cause problems. Joshua and Stacy both helped us carry them in. Stacy loans me some Gabapentin because I forgot my Lyrica for nerve pain. The chair cushion I got is to put between my legs when I sleep.

Stacy talked about Leland and the business a little. He is really trying to help her out because he believes in her. I invited her to go with us to Sheri's lesson tomorrow but she said she needed to talk to the bishop about Joshua. We didn't see Paul. I guess he had already gone to bed. James spilled soda on the steps going upstairs and Joshua cleaned it up for him. We were both tired as we said our prayers and went to bed.

Up at 5:05...barely.

Today is Palmer's 31st birthday.

Happy Birthday Palmer!

Autumn's gift is coming about 10 days late, a baby boy born on the 21st of July. His name will be Benson McKay Child.

Patrick Mahomes donated $15 million for flood relief victims in Texas. Dolly Parton paid for all of the funerals. Their are some kind and generous rich people in this country.

Dennis says he lives close to Lewis Antiques in Linden and he got me Lamell Lewis's phone number. He knows Lamell's daughter Robin Lewis.

I went out on the deck this morning to visit the kitties. It's like the killing fields, a dead lizard and two dead birds. Why don't they eat what they kill? James says it's because I feed them too much. Who knows, I call it the Circle of Life...or in the case of the lizard and the birds, the circle of death.

I began cleaning out my top left hand desk drawer on my desk in the bedroom. Yike! Who knew it would be such a heavy task. I am so happy with the results though, so I guess it was worth it.

James came home for lunch and a rest with Tom. He was going to leave for town to get horse feed when I reminded him about ordering an engine for the Razr. It was 1:40 and he goes back to work at Crane's at 4. He sat down, punching buttons on his phone for awhile and then he said he wasn't going to order it because of some kind of core charge of $1,200. I put my head down and said: "What choice do we have, we can't afford a new one and we said we would fix this one." He got back on the phone and a few minutes later he said it was ordered. Hip, Hip, Hurray! Finally! Erik will put it in for us when he gets back in school.

James then left to pick up horse feed and the two dresses I ordered from Amazon at the post office. Both dresses are medium. I can get them on, but they don't look good on me. I don't like the fabric on one of them, it is different than it showed online so I am sending it back. The other one is solid purple and will be perfect for when the weather cools down a bit and I have lost more weight.

I blogged and finished planting my flowers this evening. James said I could have $300 for my birthday. I ordered a corn hole game, a first aid kit, a yoke, and saved the rest to go thrift shopping to look for a chair to go at the end of our dining room table.

James is so tired but I gave him a haircut before he went to bed. We are going to the valley tomorrow and he is looking a little shaggy.

I was up at 3 this morning. My upper arms hurt, especially my right. Rowan texted at 2:30 a.m. and I just couldn't go back to sleep after reading his scripture answer.

I did my morning routine and for lunch I made Brian's Breakfast Casserole. This was my first time roasting poblano peppers and they turned out great. I wish Walmart had green chilies so I could roast them. It took me over two hours to make the breakfast casserole. James better like it!

Stacy and I talked about our business today. She wants me to watch a video regarding Google Ads.

I finished my book, "Royal Intrigue" and started another Traci Abramson book, "Drop Zone."

James took the new generator on the job today. It ran an air gun, a table saw and a skill saw with no noise! The two hip roof they are building on the Crane's pump house is very difficult and complicated to construct. James has watched two YouTube videos and they say things like, 'you are going to waste a lot of lumber and make a lot of mistakes.' Not very encouraging. I think Jeff Crane is going to be surprised how much this little pump house is going to cost.

It is 5:30 pm. I have 8, 417 steps and my feet are killing me. I watched a Hallmark movie while blogging: "Unwrapping Christmas: Mia's Prince." I also made care baskets for Cress Miller and Pam Giles.

So much fun to make!

I planted two more vinca plants and watered all of my new plants.
It is so beautiful in the evenings, I love being outside.

No one answered the scripture question today except me.

We must remember to pray for rain.

I got up at 3:54 and didn't stop until about 6 p.m.
Catching up on my blog is taking much longer than I imagined. Part of the reason is my photo app doesn't work right half the time. I need to do two posts a day to catch up. Today I did June 30th but I only did one day. In my defense I was gone for six hours today.

I had an eye doctor's appointment at 11. Cynthia was the person who called me back and prepared me for the doctor. She was very cute and had a tattoo on her arm that looked like a tree. I asked her: "Can you tell me about your tattoo?"
She said: "Oh, it's the Tree of Life." She didn't know that the Tree of Life represents the love of God. To her it represented the love she had for her partner who passed away in 2020. I am glad I asked because we had a nice conversation.

Dr. Palmer says I don't need yag surgery in my left eye. He says I have floaties behind my eyes and that's what's causing the blurry vision. The only way to correct it is with surgery and he doesn't recommend that right now. He asks if I have been using eyedrops and I told him about my eye mister. He said to use it often throughout the day.

I had lunch at Culver's, my strawberry chicken salad. The place was packed. Georgia Jameson delivered my food. She didn't recognize me as a member of her ward but she said she would look for me at church from now on.

My appointment at Walmart to get my oil changed isn't until 1:30 so I had some time to shop at Dollar Tree where I bought all of the birthday cards I need for August. I also bought two baskets and began making "care" baskets, one for Cress Miller who recently had knee surgery and one for Pam Giles who recently lost her dog of 13 years.

While my car was getting the oil changed I did my grocery shopping. On my way home I stopped at the Virtuous Pain Center and picked up the paperwork James needs to fill out before his appointment on the 22nd. It was hot outside. I checked my car thermometer and it said it was 95 degrees. We need some rain.

I also stopped at the post office and there was a manilla envelope from the Registrar of Contractor's with papers to fill out for James hearing with Darryl Johnson on August 6th.

After putting all of my purchases away I needed a little R&R.
After resting for awhile I listened to my book, "Royal Intrigue" and went outside to plant flowers.

James used my phone to listen to his story while walking when he got home. I had a shake for dinner.

Up at 4:54.
James burned out his drill on the job today. Which means he will probably have to buy a new one. Chuck is helping him while Jeff is gone. Paul Peeler couldn't be here today.

Tom napped with me this morning.  He actually stayed in the chair after I got up, which he very rarely does.

Kim and Brian left for home around 8:00 this morning. I have enjoyed having them here and will miss them.

We always have fun together.

This morning I did some planting, and walked, and now I'm blogging Sunday, June 28th. A little after one I got ready to go to the temple. I am meeting my friend Ruth Gale for the 3:30 session.

Lockers 7 & 8 were occupied so I had to take locker #4. My family name is: Sarah C. Prather.
When I arrived in the ordinance room Ruth was in the second row saving me the aisle seat. My favorite seat is the second row next to the wall, but it was occupied.

The session went well. As we were walking down the hallway back to the locker room I said to Ruth: "I don't want to eat a big meal."
She responded: "Neither do I." Me: "Let's think about where we want to go while we are getting dressed."

We asked a sister if McDonald's had salads and she said yes, she was sure they did. She was wrong, there were no salads at McDonald's. I know they use to have them, but not any more. I guess they were too healthy for their clientele.

Ruth and I ended up at Arby's. I got a cheeseburger and ate everything except the bun and Ruth got an Arby's roast beef and did the same thing.

We had a nice visit. Ruth was the barrier of some sad news, Brad Pico, who is married to Christy Kempton, passed away. Brad was the principal at a school in Alpine. He was in his office with the door locked, which was finally open and they found him, dead. He died of a heart attack. He was 63 years old. He and Christy had six children and 14 grandchildren. So sad for his family. He was a good guy.

Ruth and I said our goodbye's. We will schedule next month's temple trip after Ruth goes home and checks her schedule. She teaches piano usually on Tuesday afternoons.

On my drive home I noticed my oil was at 4%. When I got home I made an appointment for tomorrow to get the oil changed at Walmart after my eye doctor appointment.

When I returned home I walked, fed James, answered R.E.J., blogged, and did my journal prep for tomorrow.

These are the names I put on the temple prayer roll:
Ian, Sheri, Alex, Max, and Evan Trezise. Stacy, Adam, Jared Ammon and Joshua Gonzales, Jared, Darrel, Trina, Addy, and Rowan Lambson. Later I added: James, Kacey Lambson, Paul Gonzales, Kim & Brian Horak, Autumn Child, and Ben & Cayli Trezise.

I showered before going to bed.

Up at 3:25. Prayer first. I caught up on my A.S.K. and R.E.J. journals. At 4:45 I gave James a heat rub and then he used the heating pad for about 10 minutes.

Tom is outside on the couch sun-bathing. Sammy rubs against my legs every time I go outside so now I have hair all over my pants.

Later I went out and they were both on the couch.

My couch potato boys

Evan answered the question today. Alma 29:8-30:11. Do we have anti-Christs or people who oppose the Church today? How should we respond when they laugh at us or put down our beliefs?
Evan: "Yes, we still face people today who mock or attack our beliefs, just like Korihor did. It can bring us down, but the Lord's way isn't to argue in anger. In D&C 71 He tells us to keep sharing truth boldly and with love, trusting him to handle the redst. Truth will stand. When others laugh, we can stand firm, live the gospel with oy, and let our quiet confidence speak louder than their noise. God's plan will move forward, and so will we when we are faithful, patient, and unashamed."

I love Evan's answers.

It's 8:54 and I have not seen Brian nor Kim and James is at work. It's like I'm home alone. Something I have noticed about Kim though, is she reads her Book of Mormon throughout the day, more than once. I will see her reading by the fireplace and then later I will see her reading on the brown recliners. She really does love the Book of Mormon.

It's 12:52 and it's raining! Tom and Sammy have been couch potatoes outside on the couch by our bedroom door. Now that it's raining and they hear thunder they are hiding under the couches.

James came home in the early afternoon from Crane's. He paid his city license taxes online with Brian's help. I got a call from Catherine Halcomb today saying she would not be going to the temple with me this week like we had planned. She had wanted to do initiatories and then afterwards spend some time in the celestial room because she feels close to her husband when she is there. Now she has talked herself out of it. I told it that was okay but if she changed her mind to let me know. When I was finished speaking with Catherine I texted my friend Ruth Gale and arranged a temple trip with her tomorrow afternoon at the 3:30 session.

We got a little bit more rain than expected which made us happy. James and I went into town. We ate at Culver's. James had his cod fillet sandwich and I had my strawberry fields salad minus the blue cheese.  We saw Gary and Maxine Thompson and Rick Lauritzen in Culver's. Gary and Maxine had a buy one get one free coupon and Rick had just given blood and was waiting for Rosie to come and pick him up.

We went over to Lowe's to get some flowers. We can't get trees today because we are in the car. Here is the cart load of flowers I picked out:

In spite of pain and fatigue James goes back to work at the Crane's when we get back from town. I am tired and take a short nap. I then blogged June 28th, and planted one of my flowering plants. I will plant one or two each day until they are all planted.

Kim and I got out the "Ticket to Ride" game and set it up, reading the instructions as we went along. We didn't actually play the game but we got the idea of how to play and what the objective is.

I ordered two new dresses today. I went out on a limb and ordered medium. The last ones I ordered were extra large and they are all too big now. I probably should have ordered large. We shall see.

James got the solar generator he ordered. We are so excited to be able to have power to some of our appliances if the electricity goes out. I also got a new pair of sandals and five of my tree of life journals in different colors.
