I was up at 4:45. James is up to therefore I am on his schedule. A back and thumb rub and then 10 minutes with the heating pad. Prayer, Book of Mormon, and "Come Follow Me." He left for work at 6 o'clock.
After taking 2 Tramadol and 2 Tylenol I needed to lie down until it went into effect. I laid on the family room recliner and turned the heating pad on and listened to President Oaks' talk, "Divine Helps for Mortality." I followed along in my conference notebook, underlining important passages and choosing a favorite quote. I then listened to Elder Uchtdorf's talk, "By This All Will Know That Ye Are My Disciples." By the time Elder Uchtdorf's talk was over I felt ready to get up. It is hard to explain the surge of energy and well being I feel after taking my pills and resting. I am ready to face the day!
Sheri texted this message in our family group text today:
I got a text this morning saying that grandmother is now staying at Terry & Cathi's.
Sheri was worried about Dawn staying alone in Tempe, but she is staying at Terry & Cathi's too. They also have Cathi's daughter Wendy staying with them and Terry's son Brian. They have a house full.
This was Dawn's idea. She just doesn't feel like she can adequately take care of her Mom anymore. She doesn't understand when the hospice nurse tries to explain what Mom needs. Her condition, Dawn's, is deteriorating quickly.
I did my morning devotional and then went back to my 4th of July blog post and inserted a picture of the flag. This flag is so important to me. I have been wanting one for a long time. It reminds me of the blessings associated with the promised land and keeping the commandments of God. If we do so, we will prosper in the land. We are so blessed to live in this free country. I pray that we will always live worthy of the great freedoms we enjoy. I pray we will work to protect those freedoms, especially those associated with freedom of religion.
James got back from work at noon. We left at 2:00 for the valley. We stopped at Cress Miller's to give her her care package. She had just returned from town with her family and was in a great deal of pain. She just had knee surgery. I told her I hoped she could lie down and get some rest before she did anything else. She thanked me for her basket.
Our next stop was at Pam Giles'. It just started to sprinkle when we arrived. She came outside to meet me and thanked me and we hugged after I gave her her basket. It felt good to do something nice for someone else. I loved seeing Pam, it's been a long time. She texted me later about her dog and I will share it another time, maybe tomorrow.
We stopped in Payson for gas and a potty break. When we got to the valley we drove straight down Country Club to the Costco on Baseline and Country Club. I told James I thought it would be less busy than the one in Chandler or the one in Gilbert.
We got a flat bed cart and loaded up the following items: 5 cases of Fairlife chocolate shakes, three Premium Protein cases, two strawberry flavored and one chocolate flavored. James also got Pom and Acai juice. We loaded up our car and headed for the Chandler Hobby Lobby on Chandler Blvd. just west of Price.
At Hobby Lobby I bought potpourri, artificial flowers and plants to make an arrangement in a "moon shine" bottle. I also got an orange plaid quilt, a picture frame for Catherine's picture of the Savior and a big metal pumpkin to hang on our front door for fall. Hobby Lobby is always a season ahead. They were even starting to put out some Christmas things.
There is a Walmart next to Hobby Lobby. While I was shopping James had a tuna sub at the Subway inside the store. I bought turkey sausage, cheese, two small blankets, a chair cushion to sleep with, some legal pads for James, and two purple notebooks for myself.
By this time we were quite thirsty. We went to Sonic and I ordered a "dirty" diet Sprite with one lime. When you order "dirty" they put some kind of creamy mixture in your drink. I will never order another one unless it's during happy hour because it cost over $4 for a medium drink. James wanted a Circle K Polar Pop. His drink was bigger and it only cost seventy nine cents.
We went through the carwash next to Sonic and then headed for Stacy & Paul's. Stacy had just gotten home from work. Stacy said we should bring in our shakes because in the heat the plastic would break down and cause problems. Joshua and Stacy both helped us carry them in. Stacy loans me some Gabapentin because I forgot my Lyrica for nerve pain. The chair cushion I got is to put between my legs when I sleep.
Stacy talked about Leland and the business a little. He is really trying to help her out because he believes in her. I invited her to go with us to Sheri's lesson tomorrow but she said she needed to talk to the bishop about Joshua. We didn't see Paul. I guess he had already gone to bed. James spilled soda on the steps going upstairs and Joshua cleaned it up for him. We were both tired as we said our prayers and went to bed.
