"All Things for Our Good" Elder Gerrit W. Gong
Scriptures - Genesis 45
Word - God
Phrase - "When we are still, open, and reverent, we may feel the beauty, purpose, and serenity of the covenant belonging the Lord offers. In sacred moments, He may let us glimpse the larger eternal reality of which our daily lives are part, where small and simple things work together for the good of givers and receivers."
Affirmation - "I am seeking perfection in Jesus Christ. I take time to be still, open, and reverent so I can feel the purpose, beauty, and serenity of the covenants I have made. I know all things - even heartbreaking things - will work together for my good when I trust in Him."
I had a 9am appointment at Goodman's Dental this morning. Pierce filled three cavities. One of them was especially difficult because it was under a crown. He used what is called an SDF filling, Silver, Diamon, and Fluoride. I have four more cavities and 7 more veneers and crowns. I am really paying for my poor eating habits.
Susan will be gone next week and Pierce needs an assistant so I won't have any appointments next week. My next appointment is Tuesday, October 8th, the same day I am going to the temple with Ruth Gale. I will have a couple of hours rest in between the dentist and the temple.
Pierce said we won't be finished before they leave for Okinawa on October 21st, but I would have my temps on my bottom cracked teeth and they would look like the real thing.
My mouth was so numb when I left the Goodman's that I went home to take a short nap before going to town. James was taking a nap before he made his trip to town too. He was going to pick up the Razr and to get some materials for Hipps's second job. We were going to go together but decided instead we would go separately and meet for lunch at LaCasita.
I left first. My first stop was at Walgreen's where I bought two Amazon gift cards, one for Lois and one for Dawn. Then on to Circle K to get my car washed. I was going to across White Mtn Blvd and go to the lab to get my blood work done. As I was waiting for the light to change I noticed cars piled up and red flashing lights on an emergency vehicle. Instead of going straight at the light I turned and went in to the Walmart parking lot instead. Later I found out that a car had tipped over in the middle of the street. I'm not sure if anyone was hurt or how in the world the car tipped over. I said a little prayer for them though. I didn't get my bloodwork done and will have to come back another day.
I got a few things at Walmart including my Tramadol prescription, graham crackers, marshmallows, and Hershey's candy bars for smores. I got an inside smores maker at Costco for my Bunco gift tonight.
$36.99 on Amazon. Glad I didn't
get it on Amazon!
James called just before I checked out at Walmart. He said he would be inside La Casita when I got there. I asked him to order me a cheese enchilada with red sauce and a side of rice and beans, which was delicious, by the way.
James didn't get the Razr. The owner said there was only one machine a head of ours. Back home I took an hour nap. I got up around 4:30 and began getting ready for Bunco at 6. I heated up the rangoons I got and tried to find a bag big enough to put the smores maker in plus all of the ingredients. I was not success. I ended up wrapping the smores maker and putting the ingredients in the bag I bought. James was over at Hipps's all this time. I also took the box of Ferrero Rocher candy I bought. If the girls at Bunco don't eat them I know James will because he loves hazelnut.
The sun was directly in my eyes most of the way to Tina Allen's where Bunco is tonight. Several sisters came out to help me carry my stuff in. My friend Janna is not here tonight. She is getting ready to go to Tennessee tomorrow to see family.
Those who were at Bunco this evening: Tina, Amy Reynolds, Cheryl Sedig, Donna & Michelle Beckham, Lynda Finnell and her friend Oksana. Lynn Wallace and her mom Sally Sedig, Becky Skousen, Pat Tedder. Alicia and Stefani Hunsaker and myself. We had a few extra players in case someone needed a "timeout." This is what I got for my prize:
It was a fun evening. I really do enjoy my time with these friends of mine. Sally Sedig, who is the oldest in the group, in her late 80's got my smores maker. She seemed pretty excited about it.
Notes & Quotes
"To love your neighbor includes Christlike deeds of kindness and service. Can you let go of grudges, forgive enemies, welcome and minister to your neighbors, and assist the elderly? You will each be inspired as you build your tower of love for neighbor."
