A Living Prophet for the Latter-days
Elder Allen D. Haynie
Of the Seventy
"Knowing by revelation that there is a living prophet on the earth changes everything. It causes one to be uninterested in the debate about when is a prophet speaking as a prophet or whether one is ever justified in selective rejection of prophetic counsel. Such revealed knowledge invites one to trust the counsel of a living prophet, even if we do not fully understand it."

I got up early and then went back to bed. I just can't seem to get enough sleep lately.

I paid the Owens Energy bill this morning and Lambson Construction's White Cap bill before leaving for Peyton MacArthur's softball game. James is too busy to go with me.

The game was at a park in Lakeside on Woodland Lane which is the way I used to go to Nannie's house. Chelsea told me it was across the street from the castle. I wasn't sure what she meant until I saw "the castle." It looks like a motel. I asked Chelsea who the house belonged to and she said Dr. Hamblin, who is a dermatologist here in Show Low.

Peyton's game was at a place called Mountain Meadow Park. It was very windy and I wish I had worn a jacket. Chelsea came and sat by me but I told her to sit by her family who was here. Peyton got two doubles. I enjoyed watching the game.

After the game I went in to Show Low. I had lunch at Taco Bell and then went in to Dollar Tree. I wanted to find some dishtowels to go with my M&M mother's day tags, and also some M&M's. They had the dishtowels but not the M&M's. Next I went to Circle K because I didn't feel like going to Walmart. They had all flavors of M&M's. I got peanut, peanut butter, plain, and almond.

I came home and paired the M&M's with a dishtowel, put a bow around them and attached the tag which says:
Mom - Magnificent & Marvelous. Why didn't I take a picture? You tell me. Because I am sooo forgetful.

Oh yes, one thing about Dollar Tree. The reason it is my favorite dollar store is because everything is a dollar. Well, that has changed.
I saw $1.25 signs in the store. When I got in line to checkout I heard the registers: a dollar twenty five, a dollar twenty five, a dollar twenty give,... Everything changes.

When I got home the first thing I did after changing in to my comfy clothes is to take a nap... my favorite thing to do.

Kathy called during my nap so I had to get up and get dressed because she said she was bringing something over to me.
Kathy brought me chocolate covered strawberries. She gave me four because she knew Kim was coming. How thoughtful!

Kim and Brian arrived around 5 o'clock this evening. Kim brought me a piece of the orange creamsicle cake she made. I loved it!

James was out working on the fence when Kim and Brian got here. He came in and Brian was cooking some dinner. He was kind enough to feed James and I thank him for that.

James suggested that we have family prayer with Kim and Brian, which we did.

Safely Gathered Home
Elder Quentin L. Cook
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
"Our doctrine is clear that there will be a time and a season for all people to receive and to respond to the gospel message. These examples are just a part of a much larger picture. President Nelson has continuously emphasized that the gathering of Israel is "the greatest challenge, . . . cause, and . . . work on earth today."

I got up at 4:30 this morning. I had my personal prayer and did my scripture study. James and I then had prayer and scripture together, which is the way it should be.

James got a message from Armando that he needed $300 to pay Henry. James's reaction was, Yes, pay Henry! He then told me about this little Mexican man. He said when they were pouring concrete he would run to get tools and materials. He was always running and hustling and trying to get others to do likewise. He said he is one of the best workers he has ever had and he wants him to stay happy, so Pay Henry!

I was supposed to be on a Zoom call at 11:30 today, from Dawn. She and Lois are having a card making class and inviting family members. I really wanted to be on that call but I was so tired I couldn't function. I texted Dawn and told her how I was feeling. She was very kind and understanding.

After speaking with Dawn I took some Tramadol and took a very long nap. James came home and woke me up and invited me to go to town with him. I got up and got ready and felt better. I have these fatigue episodes quite often and really the only way to deal with them is to take some medicine and sleep for awhile. I am grateful for modern medicine and the ability to rest to rejuvenate my body.

James has a dilemma at Barbara Bartels. He has the water hooked up to the new modular home and there should be water in the faucets of the home, but there is not. He called the place where Barbara bought the home and they said they would come out on Monday to assess the problem.

Speaking of Barbara, she called today and invited us to her wedding on May 27th at 6 p.m. She didn't talk too long because she said she was afraid she was going to lose her voice as she was calling people on the ward list.

The first stop James and I made today was at Taco Bell. I ordered two regular tacos and James ordered a Mexican pizza.

Our next stop was Lowe's where James had to go in and get something. I waited in the car and ate my tacos. They were tasty.

On the way home we finished our book, "The Unassuming Curator."
I listened to "Divine Signatures" while walking this evening.

A pregnant cow elk was in Luna's corral this evening. James moved the curtain on the door to the patio to take a picture and she ran away.

Today is my brother Dennis's 69th birthday. I texted him and we had a nice visit.

James and I listened to a video by President Nelson about the healing power of gratitude as part of the Come Follow Me lesson. It lasted about ten minutes and ended with President Nelson saying a prayer. It was very sweet.

"Ministering"
Elder Gerrit W. Gong
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
"As followers of Jesus Christ, we seek to minister to others as He would because lives are waiting to change."

I got up around 5:30 this morning. I really need to get up earlier because James got up the same time that I did and I had no time alone to say my prayers. He wanted to have family scriptures and prayer right away and I felt like I wasn't ready. I really do need my alone time with Heavenly Father before I face the world.

The reason James hasn't received any money from Advantage Medical (Jerod Bowen's company), is because they wrote his account number down wrong. They thought a one was a seven. They should be able to clear up the mistake and get the money in our account by tomorrow or Saturday.

Big news! Ruby ran the mile in 5:53 today. Chandler's coach heard about it and he wants Joshua to talk her in to coming to Chandler High School next year. Fat chance, but it's still an honor that they want her because Chandler has the best track program in Arizona, according to Michael anyway.

I watched and listened to Inklings today with Emily and Courtney Rich. In John 21:11 it talks about Peter counting the fish they caught when Jesus told them to cast their nets on the right side. There were 153 fish. Emily said that 153 in Hebrew means "I am God."

Courtney told a story about going golfing with her son Westin who is 13 or 14. He came to a hole with a big sand trap with lots of trees around it. He said he needed help and said a prayer. He hit the ball and it looked like it went into some trees near the sandbar. They looked for the ball quite awhile and couldn't find it. Courtney looked out onto the green and saw the ball. She said to Westin, "Westin, your ball is on the green." They looked at each other and said, "Jesus did this."

Emily encouraged us to look for signs of Jesus in our everyday life. Someone on the comments said this reminded her of Gerald Lund's book, "Divine Signatures." I found the book on Deseret Book Plus and downloaded the audio and I have been listening to it. It is so good!

James had a meeting this evening about the ward activity next week. His assignment is to get people to bring cobblers and to purchase 50 hotdog buns.

I looked out this evening and saw an animal in Luna's corral that was not Luna. It was a female elk. James said she is pregnant and will be giving birth any day. He pulled back the curtain on the door going out to the patio to take a picture, and she ran away.

The wind just keeps blowing and blowing and blowing. When will it ever stop?

Just Keep Going - With Faith
Elder Carl B. Cook
Of the Seventy
"Zoram suffered many afflictions in his new life, yet he pressed forward with faith. We have no indication that Zoram clung to his past or harbored resentment toward God or others. He was a true friend to Nephi, a prophet, and he and his seed dwelt in freedom and prosperity in the promised land. What had been a huge obstacle in Zoram's path eventually led to rich blessings, due to his faithfulness and willingness to just keep going - with faith."

I got up at 5:45 which is too late for me to have my quiet alone time with the Lord. I had prayer and then scriptures and prayers with James before he left for work. After he left I got out my scripture workbooks and began trying to catch up for being gone Monday and Tuesday.

I swept, mopped and polished the kitchen and dining room floor while James was gone. It looks beautiful. I wonder how long it will last.

I started a new puzzle. This is the one I bought at Hobby Lobby featuring children's books.

I recognize most of these books and have
several of them.

James and I went to town this afternoon. We conduct business, do our errands and call it a date. He dropped me off at Walmart as he normally does while he runs his errands.

I did my shopping and then James picked me up. We mailed Autumn's birthday card and then went through Burger King and ordered two Whopper Juniors. We are king of the fast food drive-thru's!

On the way back to Vernon we listened to "The Unassuming Curator". We were in the truck and one of the things James got was block for Barbara's project. We dropped it off at the jobsite so LeRoy Brown could lay it. I love that his name is LeRoy Brown. It reminds me of a Jim Croce song.

James got a call from Samantha from Advantage Medical with a 100 questions. He kept telling her he was driving and would call her back but she gave him no heed. Since James didn't bring the groceries in I had nothing to put away so I changed my clothes and took a little break. About 15-20 minutes later he was off the phone and all of the groceries were in the house.

I read this today on the internet. For some reason I have been getting all kinds of information about how to take care of your liver. Does my phone know how much fast food I eat? Maybe so.
Dietary Culprits that can do Irreversible Damage to Your Liver:
1. Crackers (I'm not listing the reason, just the food).
2. Salted or cured meats
3. Fruit cups
4. Common condiments - ketchup, salad dressing, etc.
5. Vegetable and seed oils

It doesn't mention fried foods but I'm sure that they are included in the vegetable oil category. Of course, this post wanted to sell me something to help me care for my liver. It's called Antarctic Krill oil and I can find it at this site: health.nativepath.com

I also listened to S. Michael Wilcox on "Follow Him."

Never Give Up an Opportunity to Testify of Jesus Christ
Sister Bonnie H. Cordon
General Young Women President
"We live in a fallen word, with distractions coaxing our eyes and hearts downward instead of heavenward. Much like the Nephites in 3 Nephi 11, we need Jesus Christ. Can you imagine yourself there, among people who had experienced so much chaos and destruction?"

James and I went to the 8 a.m. temple session at the Gilbert temple. Kim and Sheri met us there. Debbie Lieb, a sister who was in our ward when we were in Galveston 3rd ward in 2015 was in our session. Brooklyn, her little girl, was in our Primary class and loved to come and sit with us during sacrament meeting. She was 5. Now she is 13 and has type 1 diabetes.

The Skinner's who own a place in red cabin ranch in Vernon and who come to our ward from time to time were also in our session. It was wonderful to be in a session with our two sweet daughters, Kim and Sheri, one on each side of me. I wish Stacy could have been here too.
Although if she were here we probably would have been in the 11:00 session. I did put Stacy's name on the prayer roll and also Rowan's.

After our session was over Sheri and Kim hurried away because Sheri was stressed about getting back to work. No pictures in front of the temple after our session. As we were wandering down the hall wondering where the elevator was, Dianne Heyman walked by. She stopped and came over to talk with us. She seemed very happy to see us and we were happy to see her. She has her hair lighter, it was always dark brown, she wears glasses, and she had veneers on her teeth. She is still as cute and bubbly as ever. She said Ray is the 1st counselor in the temple presidency. She also said he would be sad that he missed us. It was so good to see her! Sometimes the Gilbert temple in all of its vastness seems like home just as the Snowflake temple does.

As we were driving north on Market St. we stopped at a new Whataburger. It has always been James's favorite hamburger and now it is mine. We each ordered a Whataburger junior and James ordered a diet Dr. Pepper and I ordered a Dr. Pepper shake. Whoever took our order mistakenly gave us the meal so we each got fries too.

As we are walking in Darrel & Trina's I notice these huge lobster sandals against the credenza near the entry. I pointed them out to James and he laughed and said they must be Darrel's. Rowan was laying on the white couch and he said, "Actually they are mine." They seemed a little too big for Rowan.

We went upstairs, changed our clothes and began packing up to go. James had to make his side of the bed because it was pushed up against the wall and he's better at climbing over the bed than I am.
I left some Sour Patch Kids and Gummy Bears and Mento gum for Rowan with a thank you note. We said goodbye to Rowan and he went in the bedroom and got Darrel up from a nap so we could say goodbye to him. It was a little awkward. I wish I had known he was asleep, I would have told Rowan to let him sleep. Trina is at work and the girls are at school.

We stopped at the Speedway in Globe for gas. It is $5 in the valley, $4.09 in Show Low and at this Speedway it was $3.79.

We checked the mail as we came into Vernon. I got my spiral bound conference notebook and cardmaking instructions from Dawn for the card we are making on Friday.

James feeds Luna fist and then brings in all of our stuff while I put my things away and then the Costco items.

I walk while watching Reba. When James comes in to join me we listen to our book and walk.  It was a full day and I am tired.

Love this!
