Jesus Christ, Second Coming
D&C 63:34
And the saints also shall hardly escape; nevertheless, I, the Lord, am with them, and will come down in heaven from the presence of my Father and consume the wicked with unquenchable fire.
Book of Mormon
Alma 42:1-25
13 Therefore, according to justice, the plan of redemption could not be brought about, only on conditions of repentance of men in this probationary state, yea, this preparatory state; for except it were for these conditions, mercy could not take effect except it should destroy the work of justice. Now the work of justice could not be destroyed; if so, God would cease to be God.

"In Awe Of Christ And His Gospel"
Elder Ulisses Soares
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
My beloved brothers and sisters, in His perfect and infinite love and knowing our human nature, the Savior has established the way for us to avoid falling into the trap of spiritual apathy. The Savior's invitation gives us a broader perspective, especially considering the complex world in which we live: "Learn of me,and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me."

After family prayer and scriptures James leaves to go to town with Owen Peeler to pick out bathroom fixtures and another toilet.

I started out working on my blog, it seems like I'm always behind, but soon I was working on my cake scrapbook, and then I went into practicing with my wax seals. My mind does wander.

It rained most of the day. James and I had lunch together. Roast beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, and strawberry cake. This cake is my favorite so far! After lunch we went into the bedroom and listened to "A Dreaming Beauty" and walked before rest time.

Rain, rain, and more rain. James is worried because he has concrete coming on August 9th at the Thompson's and he still has some work to be done before the concrete can be poured.

My new cake slice to go boxes came today! James picked them up at the post office and then he went to Dollar General to get me a drink. He is such a sweetie!

6x6 much bigger than the last
ones I ordered.

I texted my neighbor Chelsea to see if she and her girls would like some cake. She said most definitely, so I cut three pieces and put one piece in each of three boxes. I also put a couple of pieces in two other boxes for the Thompson's. James and I headed out to deliver the cake. When we got to Chelsea's the two girls, Peyton and Scotlyn were outside playing. James knocked on the door and Chelsea answered holding her little boy, Boone. James handed Chelsea the cake. I waved and rolled the window down and said hi. Does this count for ministering? Maybe a little, but I need a visit with Chelsea to see how she is doing and to invite her to our RS activity on the 9th. I texted her later and invited her and the kids to come over next Friday. Jared, her husband, is still in Alaska. Chelsea texted me later and said the girls voted to eat the cake before dinner.

We drove on to the Thompson's and gave them the two pieces of cake I had cut for them. I heard from Maxine later that they both loved the cake, especially the filling. Gary said, "Another winner. This recipe is a keeper."

This evening James and I listened to our book and walked. I watched Christmas movies and tried to blog. I got a letter from Jackie Hall today. I will post it on here.

14 Therefore, my son, see that you are merciful unto your brethren; deal justly, judge righteously, and do good continually; and if ye do all these things then shall ye receive your reward; yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; and ye shall have good rewarded unto you again.

The scriptures say, "And the children of Israel ... did as the Lord ... commanded Moses" (Exodus 12:28). There is something very powerful in that simple statement of obedience.
Because the children of Israel followed the counsel of Moses and acted in faith, they were saved from the plague and, in time, freed from their captivity.

James got a text from Greg Anderson around 4 a.m. telling James that he couldn't go to Globe with him today because he had been flooded and he needed to do some cleanup and some prep for the rain today. James needed him to help carry in the dishwasher he bought. I told him to please find a dolly so he wouldn't try to carry it up those stairs all by himself. He said there was one there and he would use it. Thank goodness!

We were scheduled to feed the missionaries today. They hadn't called as of this morning early but last time they called the day of, late morning. I began my preparations before 8 a.m. I seared the roasts, I have two, and put them each in a crockpot to cook for 9 hours so they would be nice and tender. Next I set out 12 rolls to rise. I also took out all the refrigerated ingredients for my cake that need to be at room temperature; eggs, butter, sour cream and buttermilk. I peeled, chopped, boiled and mashed the potatoes seasoning them with salt, pepper, cream and butter. When they were finished I left them in a cast iron pot planning on warming them up in one of the crockpots later.

I started the cake, Courtney's strawberry shortcake cake, at noon. I made the three cake layers and baked them. I made the strawberry buttercream frosting using powdered, freeze dried strawberries. Next I made the fillings - homemade whipped cream and fresh strawberries, diced and pureed.

I got a text from the elders at 2 p.m. telling me they would not be able to make it tonight. This call was way too late. Next time I need to hear from them the day before they are scheduled to come. Surprisingly, I was not as upset as I should have been.

James got home around 4. He had told me this morning he would be home before 5. I had tried to call him to tell him about the cancellation but he never answered my call or text.

James said it had been a bad day and he was so tired that he left earlier than he had planned. He took a shower and a quick nap and then we ate dinner together. After dinner I went into the bedroom to work on my blog and to walk and he stayed in the dining room. I thought he was probably indexing but I guess he texted Stacy about some bags of silver we had when they lived in the house in Chandler with us. He wanted to know if they had seen them when they moved into our bedroom after we moved to Vernon. She was upset and texted me thinking that her dad was accusing her of stealing silver from us. A few minutes later Kim texted me and asked if we needed to borrow some money and that Stacy had contacted her. Oh dear, this is getting out of hand.
It all ended up okay. James was not accusing her, he just doesn't know what happened to those bags of silver. He may have used them for something and forgot, but he says he didn't. Now he thinks someone stole them. He believes Stacy when she says she didn't see them. I think James is just tired and frustrated and wants a reprieve. He thinks maybe we brought the silver up here with us and put it somewhere. I don't think we would have done that without remembering. I don't think we are going to see those bags of silver again. Today he said they would be worth $100,000.

I read from "The Redemption of the Bride" this morning. Here is a quote: "We have a God who loves and cares for us, who is keenly aware of our own tears and burdens. We have a God who weeps and mourns with us." I also watched two Christmas movies while blogging and walking: "Christmas She Wrote" starring Danica McKellar, and "Jingle Bell Princess" starring Julie Gonzalo.

I was grateful for my comfortable bed at the end of this day.

We can accept and respect others without endorsing their beliefs or actions that do not align with the Lord's will. There is no need to sacrifice truth on the altar of agreeableness and social desirability.

Darrel and Trina's kids started school today, everyone except Addy, who is living her best life until college starts the end of August.

We got more rain today. Heavenly Father is certainly blessing us and answering our prayers.

Before taking a trip to town today we picked up a check from Brother Peeler. We took the truck because we are picking up a new dishwasher for the Peeler's. James dropped me off at Walmart just before a downpour of rain began. I could hear it pounding on Walmart's metal roof.

I am in to my August budget but since I am feeding the missionaries tomorrow night I need to buy some food. I bought two roasts just in case Tanna and her boyfriend come. Stuff for a salad, frozen corn and the ingredients I needs for my strawberry cake, and some BlueBell ice cream. James got here in time to help me checkout. We were both shocked to see that our total was over $300! So much for slim pickins' for the rest of the month. Hopefully I won't have to buy too many groceries in the next couple of weeks.

On the way home we listened to "A Dreaming Beauty." We both like this book. When I got home the first thing I did was put the ice cream in the freezer. Just as I got all of the groceries put away, the electricity went off, again. This is the third time in a week. James put the ice cream in the big freezer in the garage because he said it would keep it colder. We went and sat outside on the front porch where it is 60 degrees.

Today I watched Book of Mormon Central "Come Follow Me". Joy D. Jones, who is one of my all-time favorite conference speakers when she was the General Primary President, was a guest. She was great. She invited someone who does rock art on to join her and this sister made this likeness of Esther going before King Ahasuerus and him extending the golden scepter to her.

I love this!

I also watched three Christmas movies:

1. The Spruces and the Pines
"Home isn't where you hang your hat, it's where you hang your heart."

2. A Christmas Star starring Daniel Lissing

3. Double Holiday starring Kristopher Polaha
