14 Therefore, my son, see that you are merciful unto your brethren; deal justly, judge righteously, and do good continually; and if ye do all these things then shall ye receive your reward; yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; and ye shall have good rewarded unto you again.

The scriptures say, "And the children of Israel ... did as the Lord ... commanded Moses" (Exodus 12:28). There is something very powerful in that simple statement of obedience.
Because the children of Israel followed the counsel of Moses and acted in faith, they were saved from the plague and, in time, freed from their captivity.

James got a text from Greg Anderson around 4 a.m. telling James that he couldn't go to Globe with him today because he had been flooded and he needed to do some cleanup and some prep for the rain today. James needed him to help carry in the dishwasher he bought. I told him to please find a dolly so he wouldn't try to carry it up those stairs all by himself. He said there was one there and he would use it. Thank goodness!

We were scheduled to feed the missionaries today. They hadn't called as of this morning early but last time they called the day of, late morning. I began my preparations before 8 a.m. I seared the roasts, I have two, and put them each in a crockpot to cook for 9 hours so they would be nice and tender. Next I set out 12 rolls to rise. I also took out all the refrigerated ingredients for my cake that need to be at room temperature; eggs, butter, sour cream and buttermilk. I peeled, chopped, boiled and mashed the potatoes seasoning them with salt, pepper, cream and butter. When they were finished I left them in a cast iron pot planning on warming them up in one of the crockpots later.

I started the cake, Courtney's strawberry shortcake cake, at noon. I made the three cake layers and baked them. I made the strawberry buttercream frosting using powdered, freeze dried strawberries. Next I made the fillings - homemade whipped cream and fresh strawberries, diced and pureed.

I got a text from the elders at 2 p.m. telling me they would not be able to make it tonight. This call was way too late. Next time I need to hear from them the day before they are scheduled to come. Surprisingly, I was not as upset as I should have been.

James got home around 4. He had told me this morning he would be home before 5. I had tried to call him to tell him about the cancellation but he never answered my call or text.

James said it had been a bad day and he was so tired that he left earlier than he had planned. He took a shower and a quick nap and then we ate dinner together. After dinner I went into the bedroom to work on my blog and to walk and he stayed in the dining room. I thought he was probably indexing but I guess he texted Stacy about some bags of silver we had when they lived in the house in Chandler with us. He wanted to know if they had seen them when they moved into our bedroom after we moved to Vernon. She was upset and texted me thinking that her dad was accusing her of stealing silver from us. A few minutes later Kim texted me and asked if we needed to borrow some money and that Stacy had contacted her. Oh dear, this is getting out of hand.
It all ended up okay. James was not accusing her, he just doesn't know what happened to those bags of silver. He may have used them for something and forgot, but he says he didn't. Now he thinks someone stole them. He believes Stacy when she says she didn't see them. I think James is just tired and frustrated and wants a reprieve. He thinks maybe we brought the silver up here with us and put it somewhere. I don't think we would have done that without remembering. I don't think we are going to see those bags of silver again. Today he said they would be worth $100,000.

I read from "The Redemption of the Bride" this morning. Here is a quote: "We have a God who loves and cares for us, who is keenly aware of our own tears and burdens. We have a God who weeps and mourns with us." I also watched two Christmas movies while blogging and walking: "Christmas She Wrote" starring Danica McKellar, and "Jingle Bell Princess" starring Julie Gonzalo.

I was grateful for my comfortable bed at the end of this day.
