The Family Proclamation
P2
All human beings - male and female - are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal
destiny of His children.

I had made an appointment with Sandra W. at 9 o'clock today to help her learn to do indexing. I waited and she didn't come. Later this afternoon she sent me a message: Oh my gosh I totally forgot, I am so sorry. I painted my bathroom this morning. I thought I set an alarm in my phone but it never went off. I am so sorry.
I responded to her by saying: No problem. Painting a bathroom is important! We will try again next week.

Edward Partridge is one of my new heroes. The Savior called him to be the first bishop of the Church because of his pure heart. He had only been a member of the Church for two months. Edward sacrificed everything to serve God and his fellow Saints. While living in Independence, Missouri with the Saints the following happened to him:
"I was taken from my house by a mob who escorted me about half a mile, to the court house, on the public square in Independence; and then and there, a few rods from said court house, surrounded by hundreds of the mob, I was stripped of my hat, coat and vest and daubed with tar from head to foot, and then had a quantity of feathers put upon me; and all this because I would not agree to leave the county, and my home where I had lived two years. Before tarring and feathering me I was permitted to speak. I told them that the Saints had suffered persecution in all ages of the world; that I had done nothing which ought to offend anyone; that if they abused me, they would abuse an innocent person, that I was willing to suffer for the sake of Christ; but, to leave the county, I was not then willing to consent to. By this time the multitude made so much noise that I could not be heard: some were cursing and swearing, saying, 'call upon your Jesus; others were equally noisy in trying to still the rest, that they might be enabled to hear what I was saying. Until after I had spoken, I knew not what they intended to do with me, whether to kill me, to whip me, or what else I knew not.  I bore my abuse with so much resignation and meekness, that it appeared to astound the multitude, who permitted me to retire in silence, many looking very solemn, their sympathies having been touched; and as to myself, I was so filled with the Spirit and love of God, that I had no hatred towards my persecutors or anyone else."

I am going to use this story in my talk that I am giving on Sunday.

I indexed, blogged, walked and cleaned fans today. I listened to "Teaching with Power" and "Book of Mormon Central" and part of "Unshaken" all in preparation for this week's "Come Follow Me" lesson.

James and I started a new e-book called, "Love in Disguise." I asked Trina to send me the book her book club is reading and she did. I looked at it and decided I couldn't read it. It is called, "Before We Were Yours".
Told from the alternating perspectives of two women, "Before We Were Yours" tells the story of Rill Foss, the oldest of five children who were kidnapped from their family in 1939, and Avery Stafford, a successful lawyer and daughter of a senator. As the novel unfolds, Avery uncovers the links between Rill's story and her own family. Inspired by true events, Lisa Wingate's novel sheds light on the scandals of an adoption center and their exploitation of thousands of children.

I just can't stand to see children abused or exploited. I'm going to let Trina read it and then ask her how she liked it, then I might consider reading it. In the meantime I will continue reading my proper English romances with James. I did start reading another book about Emma Smith. It's called "First" and is an audio book on Deseret Book Plus. For my birthday last year my friend Maxine gave me a book about Emma Smith called, "Glorious Truths About Emma Smith" by Susan Easton Black. I'm reading it too. The more I read about Emma Smith, the more I like her.

James and I both worked on our talks for Sunday.

Sheri was so stressed and worried tonight I asked Cathi if she would talk to her. Cathi reported back that she talked with Sheri about 40 minutes and told her to call her anytime. It's so hard not being with your child when they need you. Thank you Cathi for your help.

The Family Proclamation
P1
We, The First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children.

I woke up this morning in Rowan's bed. If felt like I didn't belong, so I got up and got dressed. We left Darrel and Trina's about 7:20 and thanked Trina for letting us stay and Rowan for letting us use his room. James wanted to go to IHOP for breakfast. IHOP is on Southern and Signal Butte. We went in and there were already quite a few gray haired people there, a few younger ones too. James had fried eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. I had a bowl with scrambled eggs, crumbled bacon, and hash browns and cheese with salsa on top. We also order a couple of harvest nut and grain pancakes and shared them. We did leave some leftover food because our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. From IHOP we headed to the Walmart on Gilbert and Germann. James wanted to see if they had any of his dark chocolate shakes.

This is one of my favorite Walmarts because it is nice and clean. I got myself a new phone cord because one of mine no longer works. James could not find any of his shakes. I talked him into getting some of the high protein shakes I get, only instead of caramel like mine, he could get chocolate. He said they were too expensive. They are $7.47 for a four-pack so he's right, but I talked him in to it anyway.

From Walmart we went to Sheri's. We got there about 9:15 thinking she wasn't there we waited in the car. She texted me and said she was lying down and to text her when we got there. We went in. Max was there cooking breakfast. I wondered why he hadn't gone to school and then I remembered that he was going to Alex's to work on homework today. Max went outside to eat and Sheri was concerned because he had lots of carbs and had not done a blood sugar check and had not taken any insulin. I can see that she is in a constant state of worry with him.
Sheri sat at the dining room table and I sat there too while James gave her a blessing. It was a good blessing and I hope Sheri wrote down some of the promises made in the blessing.
James said he needed to go to Casa Grande and wanted to know if I wanted to go with him or if I wanted to stay here with Sheri. I knew Sheri was either going to go back to work of take a nap so I told him I would go with him. I noticed that Sheri left when we did so she is probably going back to work.

James decided against going to Casa Grande. We went to Costco instead. I have a $40 rewards coupon and James needs hearing aid batteries and I wanted to get some walnuts.

Costco isn't nearly as much fun as it used to be when they had free samples. We did find Premium shakes, 18 for $21.99. That's better than 4 for $7.47 at Walmart. I got some caramel and James got chocolate. James also got some supplements, his batteries, and I got a bag of walnuts. We didn't stay long. We also got gas for $2.81 a gallon instead of $3.00 in Show Low or Payson.

After Costco we decided to go see James's mom. We called to make sure she was home and yes, she was.

Dawn was home too but she was on a conference call. We had a nice visit and Lois showed us the latest cards they had made. They were graduation cards with owls on them. I'm not sure why I didn't take a picture. She also gave us an Easter card she and Dawn had made and a small book that Rebecca had made. After saying our goodbyes we were on our way home, the Payson way again.

We stopped at Del Taco in Payson for some tacos, crispy beef, fish, and soft chicken. They were small but good.

James stopped at Dairy Queen in Show Low and got me an ice cream cone and a box of cherry Dilly bars. They will last me six days if I just have one a day.

Luna was happy to see James when we got home. She is always ready to eat. Thanks to our friend and neighbor, Chuck, who took care of her this morning.

Somehow I managed to walk 12,000 steps today.

The Living Christ
P11
We bear testimony, as His duly ordained Apostles - that Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great King Immanuel, who stands today on the right hand of His Father. He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son.

James went with me this morning to get my bloodwork done. Afterwards we got something to eat and then went up to the Show Low Cemetery to look at my dad's grave sight. He does not have a headstone and I want to get one for him. I was going to order one until James said he cost quite a bit to ship them so I decided I would go to the place in Show Low and get one. Dennis said he would help pay for it but I never got a response from Harold.

Bought Carrie Underwood's "My Savior" album today. There are several songs on it that I learned from Nannie, especially, "The Old Rugged Cross." I listened to all of the album and loved it!

James got a call Sunday evening from Bishop Hunsaker asking us to speak in church on Sunday. I am to speak on Sister Eubank's talk from the October conference and James on Elder Holland's from the same conference. Bishop said the talks are a guideline for the topics and we don't have to review them but could use our own inspiration and ideas. I think it would be easier if we were just reviewing the talks.

I had texted Sheri this morning and asked her how things were going. She never texted me back so around 3:00 I texted Hello. I found out that she was upset because we didn't come down today. I had wanted to come but James talked me into coming on Thursday with him. Sheri said that was fine and that she wasn't upset, but she really was. I told James she was upset because of a text he sent her and that she was hurt because we didn't come down and that I was going to get ready and go down right now. At first he tried to talk me out of it and then he texted Sheri. Sheri told me not to come but I told her I was coming anyway. This all has to do with dealing with Max. I was ready to go at 4 p.m. but at the last minute James decided he couldn't let me go by myself and he got ready to come too. He put a bunch of tools in the car in case he needed to do some work at Mario's. We left around 4:20. Sheri told me she would be asleep when I got there and I told her to take a nap so she would be awake at 8:00 when I got there. I didn't tell her that James was coming.

When we arrived at Sheri's Ernesto Jiminez was dropping Evan off after Young Men's. Isaiah St. Onge was in the car and another leader was following in another vehicle as a safety measure.

Sheri was walking the dogs and I went to find her while James went into the house to find Max. When Sheri and I got back to the house with the dogs we went into the backyard and Max and James were sitting on the back porch. The four of us began a discussion about Max not going to school, being behind on assignments, and his high blood sugars. He and Sheri are definitely frustrated with each other. Max thinks she treats him like a baby and Sheri is frustrated that Max is being irresponsible. She has always been very responsible and cannot understand when someone is not.

James thinks Max is paranoid. He made a statement that backs this assumption up. He said that all of his teachers are talking about him in a round about way without mentioning his name in front of the other students. He broke his phone because he thinks the government is tracking what he does. He wants to move to Vernon to get away from crowds of people. He says he is not happy at home. James told him if he came up he would have to go to school. By the end of the talk Max was convinced it would be best to stay home until he finishes school. He promised his mom he would do his homework and go to school. Tomorrow he is staying home and going to Alex's where he is going to work on homework. Sheri is still stressed but I do think it helped that we were there.

Trina's book club was still meeting when we got to there house so James and I walked around the green belt several times. Everyone was still up, even Lola. We admired Darrel's cabinet and fireplace that he built. Trina and I talked about her book club. Addy was stressed about homework. Rowan has longer hair than I have ever seen on him. Ruby is the sweetest! Lola is ready to go to bed.

Rowan graciously allowed us to sleep in his room as he always does. Thank you Rowan.
