"Be of Good Cheer"
President Dallin H. Oaks
1st counselor in First Presidency
In the final days of His mortal life, Jesus Christ told His Apostles of the persecutions and hardships they would suffer. He concluded with this great assurance: "In the world ye shall have tribulations: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). That is the Savior's message to all of our Heavenly Father's children. That is the ultimate good news for each of us in our mortal lives.

Restoration Proclamation
P7 S2
Millions throughout the world have embraced a knowledge of these prophesied events.

I ordered Lola a gift and since they would not send it to my house, I had it sent to Sheri's. It will be delivered on Dec. 4th. I ordered 8 other gifts to be delivered to our house.

I worked on my budget this morning and felt a little better about my spending. I walked and then blogged until I began having computer problems. James called this evening and said how tired he was and how long he had worked. He said nothing had been done and the houses were a mess because no one had thrown away their trash. He seemed a little discouraged and said he was going to take a hot shower and go to bed early. He was at Darrel's with Ruby. Everyone else was gone. I told him he was lucky because there is no better person in the world than Ruby. I had a spiritual confirmation of this a few years ago when she was staying with us.

I told James that cows had been here this afternoon and Luna's water was low. He began telling me how to get rid of them: Maybe tomorrow morning you should ride the Razr around the property boundary and find out where the cows are getting in and drive them out It's probably at the gate on the north east corner where it meets Dave Elkins place. You may need to retie the wires if they are down. I responded: So, I'm basically becoming you? James: Just a suggestion. Don't worry about it. I'm worried about the horse pasture disappearing. Me: I will give it a try but I'm not as good as you. I never saw the cows again.

Here are my Christmas movies for the day:
"Sense, Sensibility and Snowmen" Luke McFarlane & Erin Krakow
"Christmas in Montana" Kellie Martin & Collin Ferguson
"It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas"
"A Nostalgic Christmas"
"Two Turtle Doves" Nikki DeLoach & Michael Rady

You sisters, your daughters, your granddaughters, and the women you have nurtured will be at the heart of creating that society of people who will join in glorious association with the Savior. You will be an essential force in the gathering of Israel and in the creation of a Zion people who will dwell in peace in the New Jerusalem.

Restoration Proclamation
P7 S1
Two hundred years have no elapsed since this Restoration was initiated by God the Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.

I left at 7:30 this morning for the valley. My appointment for my infusion is at 11:00 at Baseline and Country Club. I stopped once on the way down and made it to my appointment about 12 minutes early. Frances came and got me. Both my weight and my blood pressure was up. Must do better. Tiffany started my infusion and I was finished by noon.

After my appointment I went right across the street to Costco. I did some shopping, spending the $100's James gave me on what we agreed would be our Christmas present to one another, a FoodSaver.

  • When James gets his elk this is what we
  • will use to wrap it.
After Costco I jumped on the freeway and headed for Scottsdale and my appointment with Stacy at Lash Bomb. We got off to a slow start and Stacy said she was having a bad day. Also, she said my lashes are to short and weak that it is difficult to attach the new lashes. She said she would get me some serum to strengthen my lashes and we wouldn't do extensions for awhile. So I go from long lashes to no lashes.

I stopped for a Whataburger after leaving Stacy and then stopped at Marshall's on Shea and the 101 to look at blankets. I bought 12.

James finally made it to Mesa. He called me just as I was leaving to go home. He wanted to meet with dinner. It was after 4 pm. I was in north Scottsdale and he was in east Mesa. I was worried about getting home after dark so I asked if I could take a rain check. He said I could but I could tell he was disappointed.

I made it through the "land of desolation" and into Payson. I stopped at the first Circle K to get gas and I was home in Vernon by 7:30. By the way, the "land of desolation" is the burn area between Payson and Phoenix.

I unloaded the car and put things away before walking and watching the semifinals of "DWTS." This was the most amazing night of the season so far. Couples who are left: Skai and Alan, Kaitlyn and Artem, Justina and Sasha, Nev and Jenna, Nelly and Daniella, and Johnny and Brit. Each couple did two dances and each couple got a perfect score on one of their dances. Nev and Jenna got two perfect scores. This was a double elimination to determine who will be in the finale next week. Johnny & Brit were eliminated for lowest scores/lowest fan votes. It's between Skai & Alan and Justina & Sasha for the judge's save - and it goes to Justine & Sasha. Skai & Alan have been eliminated, while Justina & Sasha are heading to the finals. My favorites are: Justina and Sasha!

I did some more walking to get up to 10,000 and watched "The Sweetest Christmas" starring Lacey Chabert. It was pretty late, almost midnight, when I went to bed.

President Russell M. Nelson taught: 'When sore trials come upon us, it's time to deepen our faith in God, to work hard, and to serve others. Then He will heal our broken hearts. He will bestow upon us personal peace and comfort. Those great gifts will not be destroyed, even by death.'

Restoration Proclamation
P6 S4
He invites all of us to come unto Him and His Church, to receive the Holy Ghost, the ordinances of salvation, and to gain enduring joy.

Because of the email that was sent out, many more people than last week had on masks. Brother Grapp conducted and read an addendum to the letter, written by President Beeler. The letter softened the stance that if you don't wear a mask, stay home. All are invited and all are encouraged to wear masks, not forced. Jared made a point I hadn't thought of. He said that if someone gets sick and they can trace it back to getting it from someone at church, the Church could be sued. Since President Heyman is an attorney, maybe this is the concern he has.

Another change. For the past couple of weeks we have been singing the hymns. Today we are back to just listening to them.

I was so happy that the Howard's were at the meeting. James and I sat by them. Jean was surprised by how short the meeting was. I told her, "Yes, we've gone from 3 hours to 45 minutes."

Chuck was the speaker in sacrament meeting. He presented President Benson's talk, "Beware of Pride" from the 1989 April General Conference. I guess we all need to be reminded that because we are so blessed is no reason for us to be prideful. We must acknowledge that all of our blessings come from God.

I met the man and two boys who are living with Ginger and her husband. His name is Jason and his boys are Seth and Gavin. I hope they continue coming to church.

We came home for a little break and then went back to the church at 10:45 for tithing settlement. We met with Bishop Hunsaker and shook hands with him, sitting across his desk from him. I asked him where Alicia, his wife, was today and he said she was at home, sick. He said she and her brother both came down with something after their dad's funeral. Her brother was tested and has Covid. He said she had not been tested. I thought to myself, why is he here shaking people's hands when he could be a Covid carrier? James didn't seem to be as upset as I was.

We came home and watched "Meet Me at Christmas" starring Catherine Bell. She's not one of my favorite but I liked this movie. So did James. Hallmark movies are so predictable but they always have a good message.

Jared called us this evening and of course Charlie wanted to see Luna. Charlie has been quite a handful lately. Maybe she is just excited about Christmas. They still aren't sure if they will be coming for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

We had a great gospel discussion with Kim, Brian, and Jared. Kacey was busy with Charlie. Lots of things to discuss from Ether 1-5. I love connecting with family and the gospel!

This evening James and I watched "A Timeless Christmas."
