Jesus Christ, Davidic descent of
Jeremiah 33:15
In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

3 Nephi 19:30-20:19
*What does the Savior promise those who partake of the sacrament? Why is this promise so significant?
-Elder Dallin H. Oaks said: "Attendance at church each week provides the opportunity to partake of the sacrament, as the Lord has commanded us (see DC 59:9). It we act with the right preparation and attitude; partaking of the sacrament renews the cleansing effect of our baptism and qualifies us for the promise that we will always have His Spirit to be with us. A mission of that Spirit, the Holy Ghost, is to testify of the Father and the Son and to lead us into truth, (see John 14:26; 2 Nephi 31:18). Testimony and truth, which are essential to our personal conversion, are the choice harvest of this weekly renewing of our covenants.: In the day-to-day decisions of my life and in my personal spiritual growth, I have enjoyed the fulfillment of that promise." (Ensign, May 2002 34).

Happy Birthday Jared!

I sure do love this boy of mine. He's a great son,
husband and father. He has gone through some rough
times, and they aren't over yet, but he has a wonderful
wife and now a precious new baby to help get him
through the rough spots.

I feel prepared to teach Relief Society and at this point I just want it to be over so I can come home and take a nap.

We were a little late coming in to sacrament meeting which never happens, but I am just not on my game. We sat by the Howard's.

Baby Branch was blessed today. The Reidhead's moved out of our ward and are staying in Snowflake with Clayton's brother until after Thanksgiving, but they were back today to bless their baby in the ward that is home to them right now.

Georgia is getting a wonderful family!

Our neighbor Chuck conducted sacrament meeting and was the first to bear his testimony. It was my favorite because it was sincere and covered the five points a testimony should cover.

Ellen got up and made the announcement that she and Dave are going to be baptized on December 8th. This is good news and I hope they can stay on the straight and narrow and make it happen. They have been taking the discussions since before we moved here which was six years ago.

I missed Sunday School. I just needed to go out to the car, offer a prayer, and prep myself for Relief Society.

Thank goodness for Relief Society sisters who carry a lesson. I wrote on the board the four challenges President Nelson gave us and the blessings associated with those blessings. I read what Kacey sent about replacing social media with scriptures and the sisters loved it. It was spot on! Thanks Kacey!

For our action plan I challenged each of the sisters to pray and ponder about what their spiritual gifts are and what they can do to use those gifts to "change the world."

James made us venison and gravy for lunch. The best!  An afternoon in which Karen rests and gets nothing done.''

Yummmmmm

Cathi's daughter Wendy has breast cancer and so does Cathi's sister. So sad.

Jesus Christ, Davidic Descent of
Jeremiah 23:5
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Book of Mormon
3 Nephi 19:1-29
*What can you do to feel closer to the Savior?
- How hard do I labor to put myself in places where Jesus can show himself to me? What efforts do I put into attending the temple? What sacrifices do I make to have FHE, scripture study, family prayer? How often am I pondering and seeking the Spirit? How often and well do I serve? What am I doing with my time? What sacrifices am I making? Do I labor exceedingly that I might be in the place where Jesus can show himself to me? When we put forth effort and we are doing the things that our Savior has asked, He will certainly "bless us and His countenance will smile upon us, and shine upon us." We will witness the Savior in our life. He will come to us as we come to Him!

Lift Up Your Head and Rejoice
By M. Joseph Brough
"As we face hard things in the Lord's way, may we lift up our heads and rejoice."

Sore throat again this morning. It feels like it is on fire. What's a good remedy? A fun Christmas movie starring Autumn Reeser, "Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade."  Here are some lines from the movie as Henry and Emily meet the Star Light dancers some of whom have been married and dancing together for over 30 years.
Henry: "What makes a relationship last for years?"
Emily: "Peaks and valleys. You remember the peaks to get you through the valleys. Affection, compromise, and peaks and valleys."
I think I am going to text this to Elder Bernecker. He asked me what was the secret to being married 50 years.

Later Emily's friend says to her, (back to the movie): "Be his soft place to fall." Emily: "Where did you hear that?" Friend: "Dr. Phil."

The interesting story of James's morning hunt. I woke up early this morning with the thought that he should go out near the girls camp on the Vernon-McNary road. I remember thinking that I needed to be sure and tell James when he gets up. He left in such a hurry after our prayer that I forgot to tell him. I did remember to pray for him though.

He was home sooner that I thought he would be. The first thing James said to me was, "Thanks for praying for me." I asked him if he was successful and he said yes. He then told about how he ended up saying and prayer and decided to go on the Vernon-McNary road and within a few minutes he found a deer and shot it. I told him about my earlier impression and how I had forgotten to tell him. In his prayer he said to Heavenly Father, "I don't know where the deer are but you do." Heavenly Father really is in the details of our lives.

I am still feeling pretty low with a sore throat, cough, and no energy. I did go to town with James today. We stopped at the Aliberto's on the Deuce and I got a breakfast burrito. It was delicious and really hit the spot. James liked it better than the Torta that he got. I stayed in the car while James went in to Safeway to get some freezer bags for his deer meat. While James was getting gas and washing the car I walked to McDonald's to use the little girls room and to get an ice cream cone. I know ice cream isn't the greatest thing to eat when you have a sore throat but it sure feels good on a scratchy throat.

James spent a couple of hours washing the car since the carwash didn't get all the mud off, the truck, the Razr and the driveway and garage. I appreciate him so much.

I worked on my lesson, blog, and walked and that's about it. James said a fast prayer and included missionary work as per Elder Robbins' request.

He worked on Book Traders and built a fire before going to bed, which keeps the house warm during the night and is much cheaper than having the heater come on.

Scarlett is such a sweetie!

Jesus Christ, Davidic descent of

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.

3 Nephi 18:15-39
*What do these verses teach us about the power of prayer?
-Watch and pray always to overcome temptation, pray in your families, pray for others. Our relationship with Heavenly Father is imperative to our success. The Savior prayed all the time, every day.. He sought God consistently, intently, and with sincere desire. Through prayer Christ learned, evolved, and was led to serve the greatest mission on earth. Prayer centered our Savior in every step of His life, even helping Him to overcome all temptation. Prayer was an integral part of the Atonement. He prayed for us and others and ask us to do the same. Our Savior knows what prayer can do. If Christ needed to pray always, and understood the power in it, how much more do we need to pray and follow His example. How can we make our prayers more meaningful? Pray to do His will. How can we be more sincere with our relationship with God? How can we utilize prayer more effectively like the Savior did? Deep and Lasting Conversion to Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ
Elder Quentin L. Cook
"Our purpose is to balance the Church and the home experience in a way that will greatly increase faith and spirituality and deepen conversion."

I woke up early with my throat on fire. I grabbed a Slimfast, two aspirin and relocated to the recliner. I thought if I felt better by 7 I would go ahead and get ready for Phoenix and "Time Out for Women." 7 came and I wasn't much better. I ate a little something, too some Tramadol and settled in to the recliner to watch a Christmas movie. I texted the Halcomb's and told them I wouldn't be able to join them today. They were very kind and Kerri even checked on me later in the day.
I think I needed a "down" day, a "time out."

It truly was a relaxing day. James went hunting this morning for a few hours after scriptures and prayers. These were some of my favorite verses today from 3 Nephi 18: 15-16, 19-20.

I did a no-no today. I was chomping on a Milk Dud and my crown fell out. I could not get it back in so James had to do it when he got home. I will never eat another Milk Dud, or attempt to anyway.

I started a new book today on Audible and I didn't have to pay for it because I had a credit. It is another Kate Morton book. This one is called "The Clockmaker's Daughter." Here is a quote that I thought was funny. It reminded me of the Lambson's and how they like to tell a good story.
"It's a dull man that allows truth to get in the way of a good story."

James even took time out of his day to watch a Christmas movie with me, "A Rocky Mountain Christmas."

I worked on my blog, finally posting all of the Halloween pictures and then blogging and adding photos for November 1st. I got over 12,000 steps and worked on my lesson, or council discussion for Relief Society. I made a chart of the promised blessings that go with each challenge. It will be up to the sisters to help me create an action plan as what we are going to do to accomplish these goals.
I also sent questions to the secretary so she could send them out to the sisters so they can be thinking about our discussion and come prepared.

James went out again hunting this evening. When he came home he cleaned up and went straight to the computer to buy books to sell. He says it's addictive.

I wish I could do simple drawings
