Cochabamba, Bolivia

Dedicated: 30 Apr 2000
By: Gordon B. Hinckley

Jesus Christ, Divine Sonship
John 1:34
And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
Book of Mormon
2 Nephi 2:22-3:5
What do I learn about joy in these verses?
New Testament "Come Follow Me"
Temptation; "Rise to the Stature of the Divine within You" Gordon B. Hinckley, October 1989.
General Conference
"Firm and Steadfast in the Faith of Christ"
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
"The temptations and tribulations we experience, plus any testing that the Lord sees fit to impose, can lead to our full conversion and healing. But this happens if, and only if, we do not harden our hearts or stiffen our necks against Him. If we remain firm and steadfast, come what may, we achieve the conversion the Savior intended when He said to Peter, 'When thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren,' a conversion so complete that it cannot be undone. The promised healing is the cleansing and sanctification of our sin-wounded souls, making us holy."

Happy Birthday Stacy!

2018

A few years ago

James: "It's 18 this morning, up from 10 yesterday. We're gettin' up there." My own personal weatherman.

I had a lunch date with my friend Pam today. She suggested that instead of eating at the hospital where all the sick people are that we go to Panda or Wendy's. I chose Panda because I have been craving orange chicken for awhile. James doesn't like Panda so I haven't had any for awhile.

Pam's lunch looked much healthier than my orange chicken over friend rice.

While Pam and I were lunching James was taking the car to Jiffy Lube to be serviced. They told him he was back too soon. The synthetic oil should last 7,500 miles. He got the car washed, got gas, rabbit feed, and Dr. Pepper 10.

Pam and I really click. I was sad to miss Jenny who went home sick but Pam and I talked about President Nelson's fireside, missionaries, and other topics we probably wouldn't discuss if Jenny was with us. Pam said she wishes she had tickets to see the Nelson's. I told her I wished I had known, I probably could have gotten some for her.

James and I listened to a talk today by President Hinckley from the 1989 women's conference. It was called, "Rise to the Stature of the Divine within You." It was so great to hear President Hinckley's voice. He counseled women in three areas: 1. Educate your hands and your minds 2. Keep marriage and motherhood in proper perspective. 3. Walk with prayer and faith, with charity and love.

By the time we got back home our car was muddy again. I guess we are just destined to have a muddy car until the weather dries out.

I needed a rest and some Tramadol when we got home. I finally got around to blogging. I blogged for last Sunday and it took awhile.
James is in the market to buy a scanner for our book business. He ordered one tonight. We are going to take it to the library with us and scan books which will give us their sales rank and how much they should sell for.

Phoenix, Arizona
144th operating temple
Dedicated: 16 Nov 2014
By: Thomas S. Monson

Jesus Christ, Davidic descent of
2 Nephi 21:1
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.
Book of Mormon#1
3 Nephi 18:15-39
*What do these verses teach us about the power of prayer?
-Watch and pray always to overcome temptation, pray in your families, pray for others. Our relationship with Heavenly Father is imperative to our success. The Savior prayed all the time, every day.. He sought God consistently, intently, and with sincere desire. Through prayer Christ learned, evolved, and was led to serve the greatest mission on earth. Prayer centered our Savior in every step of His life, even helping Him to overcome all temptation. Prayer was an integral part of the Atonement. He prayed for us and others and ask us to do the same. Our Savior knows what prayer can do. If Christ needed to pray always, and understood the power in it, how much more do we need to pray and follow His example. How can we make our prayers more meaningful? Pray to do His will. How can we be more sincere with our relationship with God? How can we utilize prayer more effectively like the Savior did? "We should seek to emulate the Savior as much as we can." - Elder Neal A. Maxwell

Deep and Lasting Conversion to Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ
Elder Quentin L. Cook
"Our purpose is to balance the Church and the home experience in a way that will greatly increase faith and spirituality and deepen conversion."

I woke up early with my throat on fire. I grabbed a Slimfast, two aspirin and relocated to the recliner. I thought if I felt better by 7 I would go ahead and get ready for Phoenix and "Time Out for Women." 7 came and I wasn't much better. I ate a little something, too some Tramadol and settled in to the recliner to watch a Christmas movie. I texted the Halcomb's and told them I wouldn't be able to join them today. They were very kind and Kerri even checked on me later in the day.
I think I needed a "down" day, a "time out."

It truly was a relaxing day. James went hunting this morning for a few hours after scriptures and prayers. These were some of my favorite verses today from 3 Nephi 18: 15-16, 19-20.

I did a no-no today. I was chomping on a Milk Dud and my crown fell out. I could not get it back in so James had to do it when he got home. I will never eat another Milk Dud, or attempt to anyway.

I started a new book today on Audible and I didn't have to pay for it because I had a credit. It is another Kate Morton book. This one is called "The Clockmaker's Daughter." Here is a quote that I thought was funny. It reminded me of the Lambson's and how they like to tell a good story.
"It's a dull man that allows truth to get in the way of a good story."

James even took time out of his day to watch a Christmas movie with me, "A Rocky Mountain Christmas."

I worked on my blog, finally posting all of the Halloween pictures and then blogging and adding photos for November 1st. I got over 12,000 steps and worked on my lesson, or council discussion for Relief Society. I made a chart of the promised blessings that go with each challenge. It will be up to the sisters to help me create an action plan as what we are going to do to accomplish these goals.
I also sent questions to the secretary so she could send them out to the sisters so they can be thinking about our discussion and come prepared.

James went out again hunting this evening. When he came home he cleaned up and went straight to the computer to buy books to sell. He says it's addictive.

I wish I could do simple drawings

Jesus Christ, Birth of
DC 76:41
That he came into the world, even Jesus, to be crucified for the world, and to bear the sins of the world, and to sanctify the world, and to cleanse it from all unrighteousness;
Book of Mormon
Alma 5:53-6:8
How can we make the word of God available to all?
-Preach the gospel, and if necessary, use words.
Use social media to bear testimony, live the gospel, love the gospel, stand as a witness at all times and in all places.
Old Testament
1 Kings 1-2
1 Abishag cherishes David in his extreme age - Adonijah aspires to be king - Bathsheba and Nathan advise David of Adonijah's plotting - David names Solomon as king, and he is anointed by Zadok - Adonijah's cause fails.
2 David charges Solomon to keep the commandments and walk in the ways of the Lord - King David dies and Solomon reigns - Adonijah, Joab, and Shimei are put to death, and Abiathar is rejected as high priest - The kingdom is established with Solomon.
General Conference
Ministering
President Russell M. Nelson
"We constantly seek direction from the Lord on how we can help our members keep the commandments of God, especially those two great commandments to love God and our neighbors."

I was up at 4:24 a.m. I ate, and then got ready to go to the temple.
We said a prayer before we left and then had scriptures and a general conference talk on the way.

Sister Wenhardt and her daughter are gone to Hawaii so that leaves Sister Cochran in charge.

The Palmer's conducted the preparation meeting. We saw films on temple clothing.

I have the same schedule that I have had for the past month which is ok with me. I start out in initiatory then go to the celestial room and then I have a break with James.

During our break with visit with Sister Humphreys from St. Johns who knew Uncle Delbert and Sister LundrAfen whose husband is from Vernon. We tell them about our weight loss challenge and our "green" smoothies.

There is an own endowment couple in our session. I say our session because James led the prayer circle and gave one of the best prayers that I have ever heard given in the temple.

After the endowment session the couple have their four month old baby girl sealed to them. Sister Bower got to be in the sealing and she told me all about it. She said that to her the sealing of a family is the culminating ordinance in the temple and I would certainly agree with her.

After the session I went back to initiatory for 30 minutes, was the baptismal greeter and then last I was in charge of assigning lockers in the women's dressing room.

Tyler, from our ward was here this week. He said he felt bad about missing last time but his phone was doing an update and his alarm didn't work. He said he came and did a session because he felt so guilty.

Our friends from Chandler, the Vance's were not here this week. We miss seeing them when they aren't here.

When we got home James took a quick nap and then went over to the Howard's to help Brother Howard clear trees. He was gone from about 4-6:30.

While James was gone I did some walking and then I went upstairs to find some things to put together for a family history display tomorrow. I am in charge of the displays at our ward activity on June 23rd. I was specifically looking for the picture of my "Nannie" in a big hat when she was about five years old. I found lots of other photos, but never did find the one I was looking for. I found plenty to make a display using old photos, an old sewing machine, some personal documents of my dad's and his Book of Remembrance. I found a family photo of myself as a baby with my mom and dad and a family photo of my dad with his parents, Aunt Gene, and Uncle Jerry. Uncle Jerry was not dad's brother he was my grandma Verdie's brother but she raised him as her own.

I called Charlotte this afternoon to see how she was doing. She got new glasses and she can see! She seemed pretty positive and said I could take her off of my worry list. This is great news!

I took a bath and went to bed quite early with the intention of getting up early and finishing up the lesson I am giving for Relief Society tomorrow.

James's meeting with Zaki went well this morning.  Zaki guaranteed that there would be no hearing with the Registrar of Contractors.  He says he's going to file for divorce soon.

I go shopping for Josh's birthday and get one more gift for Rowan.  I get Joshua some Batman stuff because he told me that was what he wanted.  I also get Ro a Batman to go with his Ninjago dragon.  I go to Sprouts and Fry's for James.  I get some bread, although Sprouts didn't have the Alpine Valley bread that James likes, and at Fry's I get some cranberry celebration and some tuna salad.  I also get gas and my car washed at Sam's Club.

Paul fixed the leak we had in the kitchen but Stacy says she thinks there is some mold and that she is getting sick from it.  I couldn't smell anything.

We leave for home around 10:40.  We stop at KFC in Payson for lunch.  When we get home we take a short nap.  I had to be at Young Women's at 5:30 to help Diana Curtis set up for our Personal Progress Pajama night.  Here are some pictures I took.  It was a fun night and the girls had a blast!!

A couple of cuties, Maddie and Trenda
Another cutie, Jordyn!

Hope and girls at the refreshment table.
All of our refreshments started with a P.
It was a fun night. Those who attended: Diana Curtis, Analee Hunsaker, Kaeli Nicoll, Denice Hall and myself in the way of leaders.  The Young Women: Ashten Hall ( she's 8 and Sister Hall's daughter), Jordyn and Shelly Applegate, Trenda Wilhelm, Maddie Carroll, Alex Jones, Kilee and LeeAnn Hunsaker, Hope Lootan, and Kelly Reynolds.  I think Brother Smith was a little irritated because we were late finishing up.

Ann Miller had a baby boy today.  They named him Hyrum.

Here are a couple of pictures I stole off the internet:
Dave's kids: Teresa, baby Wendy, Charlotte, and Kevin.
Kayla and Addy all dolled up for dance.
