Happy Birthday Vickie!
You have a heart of gold.

Helaman 16:9-25
Why is it dangerous to depend on your own strength and on your own wisdom?
Michael - Man is foolish and when we choose to depend on our own thoughts before the scriptures we often find "reasons" to exempt ourselves from commandments.  It's like a slow but dangerous road to becoming an apostate.
Sheri- It is justification for unrighteous behavior.

GC: "A Choice Seer Will I Raise Up" Elder Craig C. Christensen
' Because Joseph was a prophet, we have more than a window into heaven, the very doorway to the eternities is open to us.'

I love this.

After prayers, scriptures, and a General Conference talk I read to James from 'Wars of Light' the second in the Millennial Glory series.  At about 10:40 I left for my dental appointment at Aquila Dental.  I am scheduled to have a new crown put on over the root canal Dr. Higgs did last month.

I ask the doctor to please look at my other missing crown and do an estimate of how much it would cost to replace it.  He took pictures and showed them to me.  It wasn't pretty.  I have a broken tooth.  Not only would I need a crown but I would have to have repair work done on the tooth.

James and I met for lunch at Jersey Mike's and then I went back to brush my teeth and go on to my appointment to have my teeth cleaned at Dr. Douglas's.  Dr. Douglas was leaving to do something with her son, Evan when I got there.  I saw Jackie who cleaned my teeth, and then Melissa, Dr. Douglas's assistant.  They both agreed that I needed to have the tooth extracted and gave me a referral to an oral surgeon.  The story with my teeth is a continuing saga.

Back to Cathi's for a nap and then on to my next big adventure.  I drove to Power and Baseline to pickup a month's supply of thyroid pills from Dr. Allen's.  There was a wreck on the way over which really slowed me down.
When I returned to Chandler I went to Pei Wei to get their famous spicy chicken salad.  James declined to be my dinner companion.
He is working at the yard where he stores his construction equipment.  He wants to be moved out by December.

Back at Cathi's I waited for a call from Trina.  I am meeting her at the Chandler mall so Ruby and I can get our ears pierced, again.  It is my third time and Ruby's fourth.  We went to Addy's favorite store, Claire's.  There was only one girl working there and she looked like she was about 12 years old but she assured me she was old enough to do our piercings.  Ruby was going to go first, but she was too nervous so I took her place.  She held my hands.
Ruby is such a sweetie!
I am one hip Grannie!
Ruby's turn while I held her hands.
We survived!
Ruby got the ruby earrings and I got the diamonds.
While we were getting our ears pierced, Lola was picking
out the monkey that she wants for Christmas.
(She actually cried when she had to leave him behind.)

We said our goodbye's and as I was leaving Lola kept yelling, "bye Gramma".  I kept turning around and waving to her until she couldn't see me anymore.  What a fun evening.  Rowan was such a good sport.  He was dying to go to the Lego store but Trina said next time because she had to hurry home for a tennis lesson.
I love spending time with my grandchildren!

Back at Cathi's she told me all about their trip to Salt Lake City and all the fun things they saw and learned.  She especially loved doing a live session in the Salt Lake temple.

I read to James before we went to bed.

"A soft answer turneth away wrath;
but grievous words stir up anger."

I left Scottsdale a little after 7 this morning.  I dropped checks off for James and then went to Sams Club to get gas and to wash my car.  I was at Dr. Cullimore's by 8am for my consultation.  I have been feeling apprehensive about having this abscess in my gum area removed but after talking to Dr. Cullimore again today I decided that I am going to go ahead with the proceedure.  I am scheduled for Tuesday, June 24th at 8am.

My next stop was the Chase Bank in Chandler to get money for birthdays: Ian, Brian, Dallin and Tricia all have birthdays within the next week or so.  So does Ruby but I didn't get money for her.  I also got 25 ones so while the boys are at the timeshare this week I can encourage them to learn some Articles of Faith.  Yes, I am bribing them with money.  I did some shopping at Walmart and Kohl's.  I got shoes and clothes for James at Kohl's for father's day.  I saved $142 by opening a Kohl's charge account.  I got to see Kim while I was there.  She is getting ready for Brian's birthday, father's day, and their trip to San Diego on Saturday.  It was so nice to see her.

Next I had an appointment at Dr. Douglas's to get my new crown put on.  Afterwards I met James for lunch at Elmer's.
After lunch I picked up Joshua, Evan and Max and dropped birthday cards off for Dallin, Brian and Ian.  Evan and Max were hungry so we may a drive through In-n-Out Burger for lunch.  They really do have the best burgers and fries although this time I didn't eat any.  Oh I also dropped my computer off at Joe Johnston's and told him about my problem.  He was pretty sure he could fix it.

It is almost exactly 30 miles from our house in Chandler to the timeshare in Scottsdale but it is freeway the entire distance.
I put the groceries away that I bought at Walmart and the boys got ready to go swimming.  They were excited that I bought them a dozen donuts.
 Such a fun time!

While the boys were at the pool I told them I would pay them a dollar a piece for each Article of Faith they could recite.  Joshua earned $2, Max $3, and Evan $4.  Way to go Evan!  He is very motivated by money.
They used their money to buy snacks.

For dinner we got pizza and garlic knots from NYPD pizza.  After dinner the boys wanted to go swimming in the small pool.  It was fun to have the entire pool to themselves as they swam after dark.
