General Conference
Prepared to Obtain Every Needful Thing
David A. Bednar
"Blessings will come as we strive to fulfill our individual responsibility to learn and love the restored gospel of Jesus Christ."

I missed seeing Shelly this morning at church. She didn't want to cause a disruption in the chapel so she sat in the foyer and I missed her. Afterward sacrament meeting she went to the singles ward.

We sat by Kim and Brian during sacrament on the back row. Several youth spoke on conference talks and it was difficult to hear them. Elder Irish was the last speaker and we could hear him fine. He bore his testimony and shared some messages from the prophet, President Nelson. Kim and Brian went home after sacrament meeting.

Cammy was nervous about teaching in Relief Society. She is teaching from Elder Holland's conference address, "Behold the Lamb of God."  The sisters came through for Cammy and we had a good discussion about reverence in the chapel and during the sacrament. I noticed that Holly G. wasn't there and I texted her after church to make sure she was okay.

We had a family history meeting after the block. I forgot about it and was visiting in the RS room with Tamara, Kailee, and Kerri. I was a little embarrassed coming in late. Everyone was there except our teenager Ty. I texted him afterwards and told him we wanted him to visit Charlie G. and that James would go with him. Tamara his mom said he would do it but it would be after May 4th because he is preparing for the state track tournament.

James and I fixed biscuits and gravy for Kim and Brian before they left. James did all the work. I got the biscuits out of the freezer and warmed them up in the oven. The venison gravy was delicious!

Kim, Brian and I played a game of Five Crowns before they left. Brian whipped us each by over a 100 points. Maybe he was getting even with us for eating Rocky Road ice cream in front of him. (He's lactose intolerant).

After Kim and Brian left James went to the Howard's to help Tom with family history. While I was home alone I listened to a podcast interview with Sheri Dew about her association with prophets. She has written three books about prophets, Ezra Taft Benson, Gordon B. Hinckley, and now Russell M. Nelson. She told the story of the circumstances surrounding the meeting of Wendy Watson and President Nelson. She was a part of them getting together. I want this book that she has written for mother's day. I have told James and posted an advertisement for it on my white board. No jewlery honey, just a book.

I caught up on my blog this evening and watched a Mormon Message video, "The Passover Lamb." Tamara told us about this video in Relief Society today. This is something I will watch every Easter.
Happy Sabbath from these two sweet girls!

 Anxiously awaiting!

Good morning sunrise.

The boys and James went out early to look for coyotes.  When they get back James fixes them steak, gravy and biscuits for breakfast, at Alex's request.  I fixed cinnamon rolls because I know that Michael does not like steak and gravy.

I guess Carter was the all-around almost unbeatable, ping pong champ.
The boys left after breakfast.  I sent two movie tickets down to Stacy because someone took one of the ones she got for her birthday.
No school today because of President's Day,
but Michael had to get back for track practice.

James and I did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen together.  We then sat down and watched a movie.  Yes, it was one of those lazy kind of days.  I think the Actemera infusion I had on Friday compromised my immune system and I am getting sick again.  I have a cough and no energy.

After our movie James went upstairs to work and I did a couple of blog posts.  That's about all I accomplished today.

For FHE we set some goals together.

Judge Scalia, one of the only conservatives on the Supreme Court, died this weekend while attending a function at someone's ranch in Texas.  It is yet to be determined if foul play was involved.
More deer in our yard today.

I love the Gilbert temple

Today is my brother Dennis's birthday.  I called and wished him a happy birthday and told him I loved him.  He is one of my favorite brothers!

I started taking things out of the pantry today.  I am going to paint and everything needs to be out. I only worked half the day because I thought I was going to the temple but things didn't work out for Kim so we didn't end up going. I also ran out of boxes.

I know it's taco Tuesday but this week we are having our tacos on Wednesday instead.  I will explain further on tomorrow's post.
Today James made his delicious beef chunks.  Later we added gravy and biscuits, but I like to eat them just like this with a little ketchup.  Delicious!
Little morsels of goodness!
This afternoon I made a trip to Greg Hatch's office with James to pick up some plans for an airplane hanger someone wants to build.  Of course I had to take our book and read from it on the way there and back.
Morwenna Trelawny Penvenan,
or Lady Penvenan is pictured here.

I made a quick trip to Sam's Club for some boxes and a pizza before leaving for Addy's strings concert.  On the way I dropped Alex off at the church for his basketball game.  James went to the game while I went to the concert.
James was impressed with Alex's athletic ability.
I know this picture is blurry but I loved this action shot.
The priests played the teachers and of course the priests won.
(Alex is a priest.)
Addy is a violinist and a dancer.  I wonder if she
can do the both at the same time.
The cutest violinist in the 5th grade.
After the concert James and I came home and I cooked the pizza I got at Sam's Club for dinner.  He had to tell me all about the ball game.  He also watched Seth play for his ward.
James says that Seth is the best player on his team.

James and I fixed steak, gravy, and biscuits for breakfast for everyone.  Sheri went out for a run and said she didn't want any but when she got back she couldn't resist.
Chef James at work.
Sheri, Alex, Michael, Joe and I got to Midway Station to get candy and ice cream for our ice cream pie.  The boys wanted chocolate ice cream with KitKats and peanut butter cups.  Sheri somehow spent #30 and I spent $17.  It was probably the most business this store had all day.
 The boys taking a walk.

Our pie turned out to be quite delicious.  These are the things I've seen Michael eat since he got here: candy, orange juice, and chocolate milk made with Hershey's syrup.

Max, Kim, Sheri, and I played Five Crowns.  Afterwards Sheri did the happy dance.
More fun and games:
When Joe is here there is always some guitar music.
A game of Jenga.
For dinner we had roast, potatoes, and carrots.  The perfect dinner on a cold evening.  After eating, Sheri, Alex, Michael, and Evan left for home.  Ben and Max stay here to keep Joe company.

Kim and I watch the movie "First Daughter" starring Katie Holme.  It was funny because her body guard and the guy she turns out liking was named James Lambson.!  Now that's never happened before in a movie!
