Preston, England
52nd operating temple
Dedicated: 7 June 1998
By: Gordon B. Hinckley

Jesus Christ, Divine Sonship
Acts 13:33
God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
Book of Mormon
1 Nephi 7:16-8:15
After being beaten, mocked, and persecuted by his brothers, Nephi did "frankly forgive them." How can we find it in ourselves to forgive those who have hurt us?
New Testament "Come Follow Me"
Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:28-35
Why did the Savior need to be born of a mortal mother and an immortal Father?
President Russell M. Nelson explained that the Atonement of Jesus Christ "required a personal sacrifice by an immortal being not subject to death. Yet He must die and take up His own body again. The Savior was the only one who could accomplish this. From His mother He inherited power to die. From His Father He obtained power over death."
General Conference
One in Christ
Elder Ulisses Soares
"We have long been taught how we can help our new friends to feel welcome and loved in the restored Church of Jesus Christ. They need three things so they may remain strong and faithful throughout their lives: First, the need brothers and sisters in the Church who are sincerely interested in them, true and loyal friends to whom they can constantly turn, who will walk beside them, and who will answer their questions. As members, we should always be attentive and look for new faces when attending Church activities and meetings, regardless of the responsibilities, assignments, or concerns we may have. We can do simple things to help these new friends feel embraced and welcome in the Church, such as giving a warm greeting, smiling sincerely at them, sitting together to sing and worship, introducing them to other members, and so forth. As we open our hearts to our new friends in some of these ways, we are acting in the spirit of ministering. When we minister to them like the Savior did, they won't feel like 'strangers within our gates.' They will feel like they can fit in and make new friends, and most importantly, they will feel the Savior's love through our genuine care."

My life consists right now of remembering when to take what pill and finding soft foods to eat. I am taking amoxicillin as my antibiotic, and 600 mg of ibrupropen and 5 mg of hydrocodone for pain. I've stopped taking my tramadol for the time being.

These are some of the foods I ate today: yogurt, applesauce, pudding, refried beans with sour cream, a shake, tomato soup, and chocolate milk. I don't think I am going to starve.

James and I are reading "The Captain's Daughter" by Jennifer Delamere. The chapters are quite long so I am holding it down to two chapters a day although James asks for more.

James and I both made calls to Amazon sellers help line today. One of the books I ordered is not sellable on Amazon and I wanted to know why. I never got a straight answer. I also wanted to know why the last shipment of books I sent in was still labeled out-of-stock on our inventory page. The man I spoke to said they just received it and when they get them all processed that will change to active. I hope so. When James called about something they referred to the seller page where he could send an email. I don't think we are any longer going to be able to speak to an actual person to get sellers help. This is frustrating to me because half the time I can't figure out how to communicate in the help section.

Our next box of books is now ready to go.

Chuck came over and took our garbage to the dump for us today. We didn't have much but it sure is nice to have such a thoughtful neighbor looking out for us.

Did I mention that I am not supposed to sneeze or blow my nose because my implant is very close to my sinuses. That is a very hard thing to do and I have had a couple of "accidents." At least I don't have a sinus infection like James does.

I spoke to my friend Tamara who is the librarian at the Vernon library. I asked her if they ever have book sales. She says all the time. They have $1.00 books and a room full of books for ten cents. I told her we would be coming by to check it out and that our goal was to put 100 books a month online to sell.

This evening we watched one of the movies we have owned for awhile and never watched. It's called, "The Longest Ride." Scott Eastwood, Clint's son is one of the stars. He is a bull rider. Alan Alda is also in the moving and plays an older man who tells about his "long ride" with the love of his life, his wife Ruth. There was one risque part, that was totally unnecessary because otherwise it would have been a very enjoyable movie. I guess that's why I like Hallmark movies because you know they are not going to be risque. You are excited when the couple finally has their first kiss!

Papeete, Tahiti
25th operating temple
Dedicated: 27-29 Oct 1983
By: Gordon B. Hinckley

Jesus Christ, Creator
Isaiah 40:28
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
Book of Mormon
Alma 28:9-29:7
*"I ought not to harrow up in my desires the firm decree of a just God, for I know that he granteth unto men according to their desire." What does this mean?
-Just like parents with their children, God sometimes allows us to pursue unjust desires, especially if there is a lesson to be learned. In any case He almost always does not interfere with our agency. The only exception is if we ask the Lord to help us resist bad choices, or some one else close to you is asking and fasting on your behalf. (Alma for Alma the younger).
Old Testament
2 Chronicles 3-4
3 Solomon begins to build the temple - He makes the veil and the pillars, and uses much gold and many precious stones.
4 Solomon makes a basin and places it on twelve oxen - The altar, basins, pots, and various items are made.

Meek and Lowly of Heart
Elder David A. Bednar
"Meekness is a defining attribute of the Redeemer and is distinguished by righteous responsiveness, willing submissiveness, and strong self-restraint."

James had an early meeting with Francisco this morning. He gave him a check for $4,500 for labor on the Phoenix Country Club job which lasted 2 1/2 days.

Darrel went to work this morning and Trina and Addy went to the gym. That left Rowan, Ruby, and Lola and I home together.

The kids watched Studio C while I worked on my blog.
At 10:00 I gave them all a hug and said goodbye and left for my infusion appointment.

My appointment was at 10:45 but they are running late and it's after 11 before I get called back. They are always late after a holiday in the middle of the week.

After my infusion I went across Baseline to Fry's to get some lunch and snacks to eat on the way home. I also got some gas and then headed for Payson.

James is ahead of me and so are Stacy, Paul, Joshua, and Rowan.

I zip right on through Payson. When I get almost to Show Low it starts raining really hard. Stacy said they came through the canyon and they got into a hard rain before getting into Show Low too.

When I get home I am crying. I finished listening to President Eyring's biography. His wife has alzheimer's and sometimes she doesn't remember who he is.

Paul and James help me unload the car. Once I get everything put away I sit down to relax. Joshua and Rowan are playing laser guns. Joshua is so excited to have someone to hang out with. He has really missed Evan since he has been gone to Europe.

Paul looks really good. He has lost 70 lbs. He says he has 30 more to go. So do I but I have not been doing very good the past few days.

Vader and Shipley are here too. They can't go outside unless they are on their leash. They like looking at the bunnies, especially Shipley, through the dining room window.

Paul fixes the boys burgers for dinner. After dinner the boys go into our room to watch "Private Eyes" and Stacy, Paul, and I watch "The Greatest Showman" in the family room. James keeps going back and forth but I know he favors "Private Eyes."

We went to bed around 11.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga
23rd operating temple
Dedicated: 9-11 Aug 1983
By: Gordon B. Hinckley

Jesus Christ, Creator
Job 38:4
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Alma 27:1-15
*How much faith did the king have in the Lord? (see verse 8).
Elder M. Russell Ballard explains:
"Learning to recognize and follow the Lord's voice is vital for spiritual progression. God expects us to hear and know His voice in this life, but He also expects us to act." ("Responding to the Promptings of the Spirit", Jan. 1988).
Old Testament
2 Chronicles 5-6
5 The temple is finished, and the ark of the covenant is placed in the holy of holies - The glory of the Lord fill the temple.
6 Solomon blesses the congregation of Israel - He offers the dedicatory prayer for the temple - He prays for mercy and blessings for penitent Israel.
General Conference
Until Seventy Times Seven
Elder Lynn G. Robbins
" No one is more on our side than the Savior. He allows us to take and keep retaking His exams. To become like Him will require countless second chances in our day-to-day struggles with the natural man, such as controlling appetites, learning patience and forgiveness, overcoming slothfulness, and avoiding sins of omission, just to name a few. If to err is human nature, how many failures will it take us until our nature is no longer human but divine? Thousands? More likely a million."

Before I left for the valley this morning I put sheets on two of the beds upstairs, wrapped Lola's four presents, made myself a green smoothie did scriptures and prayers, listened to a general conference talk and three articles from the Ensign, including an article by Elder Rasband about his ancestors who were handcart pioneers.

I listened to President Eyring's biography all the way to the valley. I left about an hour late, at 11. When I got to Show Low I washed the car, again. I am glad I wasn't here an hour ago because I would have been in the middle of the 4th of July parade which is a serious thing in Show Low. At the other end of town in front of Licano's there were several police cars flashing their lights. As I approached I saw a smashed black and white police car in the middle of the road.

I stopped at the Fry's in Globe. Listening to President Eyring's book has inspired me to write more and I realized I didn't bring a notebook to write in with me so I stopped and got a couple of notebooks and some new pens. I also bought a diet Coke to help me stay awake and to go with my bag of Booma Chika popcorn.

I arrived at Darrel and Trina's around 3. I guess that Trina and the kids must still be swimming and Darrel is at work. James arrived about 5 minutes after I did. He helped me unload my car. Trina had Lola's party all set up with balloons halfway up the stairs and all the gifts wrapped. I added my four little gifts to the stash.

Happy Birthday Lola!

A little while after we arrived Trina and the kids returned from their swim. They all got ready for the party and soon Bob, Suzy, Tristyn, Ria, and Case arrived. Tristyn is here from Hawaii with her kids because she is going to California with the family. They all go every summer to spend a week on the beach.

Bob and Suzy brought Barro's pizza and some chicken wings to share before the birthday cake and ice cream. Soon Darrel was home and we could all gather around and sing Happy Birthday to Lola.

 Happy Birthday!
Enjoy your breakfast Lola!

Before the party Lola ate lots of Doritos
so she wasn't really hungry for pizza or
cake and ice cream.

Such a happy little girl!
Her friend Scarlett went swimming with them
and gave Lola the paint book.

Do you think she's posing?

Ria got to open one of the presents too.

A cake with flower cupcakes on top.

Lola and Ruby both love My Little Ponies.
Lola can tell you their names, and what their
"cutie marks" mean. Those cutie marks look alot
like tatoos.

Time to blow out the candles

Grandpa is playing with one of the toys!

She got them all!

Tasting the frosting

 Oh, it's delicious!

The 4th of July is alot more fun with Lola!

Rowan missed the rocky road and settled
for mint chocolate chip.

Is the party over?

We all either walked or rode a scooter or bike over to the Great Eastmark Park for the fireworks show.

It was a great show!
