D& C 109:70
Have mercy upon all their immediate connections, that their prejudices may be broken up and swept away as with a flood; that they may be converted and redeemed with Israel, and know that thou art God.
I woke up miserable. I slept most of the morning while James was at work. The only relief I get is when I take a couple of aspirin.
This is the news of the day. Ben and Cayli want to be married here and they want James to marry them. Sheri is quite stressed by the fact that James does not have the authority to marry them according to the Church. She said the only reason they didn't elope was because she told Ben she thought grandpa could marry them. She thought because he had been a bishop that he could. She even suggested he get an online certificate but James won't do that. He wants to follow the guidelines of the Church. He says "marriage is ordained of God."
I am going to make an appointment with our bishop to talk to him. Maybe he will have some advice for us. James already tried to text Ben and get him to consider the temple. He never heard back from him.
A wedding at our house is a bit overwhelming. I wouldn't do it for anyone but one of my kids or grandkids.
Notes & Quotes
"As the Holy Ghost exerts a greater influence in our lives, we progressively and iteratively develop Christlike attributes. Our hearts change. Our disposition to do evil diminishes. Our inclination to do good increases until we only want "to do good continually." And we thereby access the heavenly power needed to endure to the end."
