O Lord, how long wilt thou suffer this people to bear this affliction, and the cries of their innocent ones to ascend up in thine ears, and their blood come up in testimony before thee, and not make a display of thy testimony in their behalf?

I was up at 5 this morning. I printed the transcript for "Teaching with Power."

Kim and Brian left around 10 o'clock this morning. They had a low tire so James brought home the air compressor from the Hipps's so Brian could air up the tire until getting in to town where he will get it patched.  When they got to Discount Tire it was determined that they not only needed the back tire patched but they needed new tires in the front. The salesman said they had them and went to check to make sure. When he came back he said his boss had them transported somewhere else, so no new tires. The tread was coming off one of the tires so they put the spare tire in place of that one, patched the back tire, and said a prayer the other tire would hold up. I also prayed they would make it home safely, which they did.

James came in this morning looking rather discouraged. I asked him what was wrong. He said that Daryl Johnson & his wife had just been yelling at him because they are so far behind in their finances that their car was repossessed. They are demanding $11,000 because the job has taken so long to finish. There is no way. He owes us almost $5,000 for extras. Daryl begged James to let him use his credit card to get his car out of repo promising he would pay him back on Friday. I told him if he would sign a document saying he would pay us back on Friday he could use the business card to help him. Daryl said this was the last day for him to get the car. James used my Chase Freedom card which has a $30,000 limit. My credit score is 855 and we only have $3,400 on the card right now so I thought there would be no problem. In order for Daryl to get his car he needs to pay the loan company $3,759.56. The first time James tried to pay it was declined. I called the number on the back of the credit card and was told that the security number on the back of the card was entered wrong. I told James and he tried to make the payment and it was declined again, I called and got the same answer.

It was declined again. I called this time and spoke to a customer servant agent. This guy said maybe the problem was our PO Box number. He asked for our physical address. Our physical address was changed by the county so it was different than what the bank had on file. We tried both physical addresses and nothing worked. The agent I was talking to turned me over to the fraud department.

First I spoke with Edith. Whatever she did, didn't work. I called back and spoke with Ann. She assured me that she had taken off all security locks and this time there would not be a problem. She hung up. James got Daryl and the loan company on the phone and tried again. It was declined. By this time we have been on the phone well over an hour, almost an hour and a half.

I called back again and this time I spoke with Alice. She said, I know the problem, you have had an address change. Make sure the loan company is using the right address. Yes, they are. Alice was gone for awhile. She came back and said, I've taken care of it. It will work this time, but I will stay on the line just to make sure. It worked! We were all shocked that after two hours we were finally able to make the transaction to go through. What an ordeal. I was beginning to think it was never going to happen.

James went back to check on the Hipps's job and had a blowout. Jarom, Owen Peeler's grandson helped him by coming and changing the tire for him. When James got home he said he needed to go to town to get some nails and asked me if I wanted to go with him. I said yes and then asked if we could stop and get a watermelon. He agreed that we could.

James got his nails from Home Depot in record time and then we went over to Walmart. He said there were no watermelons left. I told him to ask someone. He did and they found two watermelons. James got one of them. On the 4th of July we got a watermelon for $3.00 This one cost over $7.00.

I had already eaten dinner but James hadn't. We stopped at Culver's and James got his cod fillet sandwich. He also ordered two waffle cones, a vanilla and a raspberry. I ate the raspberry. James ate most of the vanilla and then he threw it out the window. I was upset and asked him why he didn't just give it to me. He didn't think I wanted it. I was a little miffed that he threw it out the window.

Back at home Tom had been sleeping int he house on the bed when we left. Now he was awake and ready to go outside. He came back in at bedtime, had a little something to eat and then spent the night outside. I guess he has gotten over his fear of whatever it was he was afraid of.

James didn't use my phone to walk tonight so I just got around 13,000 steps instead of 16,000 like last night.

Notes & Quotes
"Christ directed us to "go and bring forth fruit, . . . that your fruit should remain." But He wasn't speaking about peaches. He was talking about God's blessings to His children. If we make and keep covenants with God, the blessings associated with our covenants can extend beyond this life and be sealed upon us, or preserved, forever, becoming fruit that remains for all eternity." - Elder Matthew L. Carpenter, "Fruit That Remains"

Kim finished the puzzle that Charlie sent me. Here is what it looks like:
I love this puzzle!
Thank you Charlie!

I helped James compose a letter for Bama Barbershop and Daryl Johnson who is going to court to try and get back some of the losses from the first contractor. James listed the charges for extra things he has spent and what Daryl owes him over the contract. James was grateful for the help because he doesn't type, especially with one hand. Armando had a final inspection today and he didn't pass. There has to be another exit sign between the two rooms and the bathroom has to be labeled in braille. That's a new one.

Kim and I keep passing each other walking outside on the deck. I am so grateful that the weather is nice enough for us to walk outside. We weren't the only ones spending time outside. Brian put up his Broncos hammock and spent quite a bit of time relaxing in it. I am glad that Kim and Brian are here and can get some relaxation in away from home and worries.

James said Paul Peeler and Owen's grandson Jarom worked harder today than any two people he has had in a long time. Owen came and helped too, mainly just handing things to the other workers and being a "gofer." Jarom and Owen both said they didn't want to get paid. James asked if he could give what they would have earned to Paul and they both said yes. It was overcast this afternoon making for perfect working conditions.

I listened to "Follow Him" today and printed the show notes because there are some things that I want to use for my lesson on Sunday. I also bought "Teaching with Power" slides, handouts, and transcript. Ben Wilcox always has some great teaching ideas.

This evening Kim, Brian, and I watched the "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" Christmas special. It was just as good or better than the new episode. I have seen it before and so have Kim and Brian but I had forgotten about it. The Postables put on the nativity play at a hospital. I am so glad they focused on the Savior, His birth, and the real meaning of Christmas because most Christmas movies are just fluff. Oliver helps Shane get through her dislike of Christmas and disbelief in God. Soooo good! I wonder if the writers are LDS or at least practicing Christians.

Tom jumped up in my lap during the movie which made me feel good.

James went to bed early. I got my 12,000 steps and he added about 4,000 more.

Notes & Quotes

"Dear friends, Christ is eager to accompany us on the journey of our lives. I promise you, as you hold on to the iron rod, you will walk hand in hand with Jesus Christ. He will be guiding you, and He will be teaching you. By His hand, you will be able to bring down every Goliath that appears in your life." - Sister Andrea Munoz Spannaus,

49 O Lord, how long wilt thou suffer this people to bear this affliction, and the cries of their innocent ones to ascend up in thine ears, and their blood come up in testimony before thee, and not make a display of thy testimony in their behalf?
50 Have mercy, O Lord, upon the wicked mob, who have driven thy people, that they may cease to spoil, that they may repent of their sins if repentance is to be found;
51 But if they will not, make bare thine arm, O Lord, and redeem that which thou didst appoint a Zion unto thy people.
52 And if it cannot be otherwise, that the cause of thy people may not fail before thee may thine anger be kindled, and thine indignation fall upon them, that they may be wasted away, both root and branch, from under heaven;

Kim and Brian went with us to our church meetings today.  We sat in the corner of the very back row in the overflow because that's where Kim likes to sit. Before church started the Tignor's came up to invite us to their sealing on July 27th.  They have been waiting for this moment since they got married in May of 2023. I am so happy for them.

We had two youth speakers in sacrament meeting today, Ruthie Wilhelm and Khloe Mack. Khloe is Brother Tom Peralta's granddaughter. We bought Apollo from Tom. The adult speakers were Ed & Debbie Miller. President Smithson was on the stand and presided at the meeting. Here are some notes from the meeting:
Ruthie Wilhelm - Jesus Christ is our strength. God will always love you, no matter what you do. Repentance means you want to improve by turning to the Lord. Jesus is always there for you.
Khloe Mack - Choices matter. Make Jesus Christ your Rock and Foundation. D&C 45:57 - For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide , and have not been deceived - verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day. Follow the truth.
Ed Miller - "Words Matter" by Elder Rasband. Anti-Nephi-Lehi's were converted to Christ with words. Repentance. The Lord's words are the most important. Prophet's words are important too. Think Celestial. Obedience brings pure joy. Our own words are important too. Three phrases we should use frequently: Thank you, I'm sorry, I love you.
Debbie Miller - "Faithful to the End" by Sister Spannaus. By His hand you will be able to bring down every Goliath that appears in your life. Stones to help us be triumphant:
1.) The stone of my love for God. 2.) The stone of my faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. 3.) The stone of the knowledge of my true identity. 4.) The stone of my daily repentance. 5.) The stone of my access to God's power. 6.) The stone of my personal testimony of Jesus Christ. Our personal connection with Jesus Christ helps us build our testimonies on the Rock. He is our Rock. Our testimonies should be our most prized possessions.

Wendy DeWitt was not here to teach Relief Society. Lindsay Shaw taught the lesson, "Words Matter" by Elder Rasband.

I had Brian's chili for lunch. I dished up a bowl for James but he thought maybe it would be too spicy so he didn't eat it. We both went in to take a nap.

At 3:00 Kim and Brian tuned in to their stake zoom meeting for the realigning of their ward. Before the stake had 8 wards and now they will have 6. Kim and Brian and Stacy and Paul will now be in the same ward. They will be in the Tumbleweed Park ward instead of the McQueen ward. Kim has not been released and is planning on teaching the gospel doctrine class next week.

Speaking of teaching gospel doctrine, I got a text from Jimmie Applegate, our gospel doctrine teacher, asking me if I would be willing to teach his class next week. He will be in training all week but will be in the class. That seems a little uncomfortable to me but this is what I told him: "If it was anyone else I might say no because I teach Relief Society the following week, but I can't say no to my favorite teacher. I will be happy to. Any thoughts on what you would like covered?"

It started to rain this afternoon so all of us, including Tom, went outside on the covered deck. The rain lasted about 3-5 minutes.

We watched the newest "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" this evening. Oliver and Shane just got back from their honeymoon in Paris and are getting use to being married. There are some adjustments for both of them. Oliver always saves the day with is kindness and wisdom. I forgot how much I like this show even though some of the characters are pretty corny. It has such a good message.

Rita said our class is having lunch at Eva's next Friday at 2 p.m. and we are invited. I told her we would be there.

Notes & Quotes
"Today I reaffirm strongly that the Lord has asked every worthy, able young man to prepare for and serve a mission. For Latter-day Saint young men, missionary service is a priesthood responsibility. You young men have been reserved for this time when the promised gathering of Israel is taking place." - Elder Steven R. Bangerter,
