I got up at 6:37 this morning. I am not sure what happened. I guess I needed a little extra sleep. It's another beautiful day in Vernon, Arizona.

I had a high blood sugar this morning so I waited a couple of hours without eating and took it again at which time it was normal.

We finally got our check from Liberty Mutual. I immediately deposited it using my Chase bank app. I just hope they don't stop payment on the check like we have been asking them to. I was right. They sent it to the physical address first. It was returned so they sent it again about a week later to the PO Box number.

Last night was the premier of "Dancing with the Stars." I watched it this morning. They have renamed the Mirror Ball Trophy the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy in honor of head judge Len Goodman who passed away earlier in the year.

James and Jared Ammon worked on the stable most of the day. James is determined to get the roof on before bad weather sets in. Today the weather was in the 70's.

Kim and Brian sent out an email today about their plans for get togethers in October at their house. They do love the "ber" months.

James had a meeting tonight with the rest of the elder's quorum presidency. They are discussing who would be good for the new counselor since Tim Bartels is moving to Show Low.

I stuck a couple of pot pies in the oven for James and Jared.

My left arm is hurting again.

When the Lord Jesus Christ finished paying the debt for our mortality the veil in the temple was torn. (Matt. 27:51) Symbolically and literally, the barrier between man and God was broken by the Savior's Atonement. Through the Atonement, Adam can now return to and be like, God. If we have put the Atonement into full practice by making and keeping the covenants of exaltation, we are prepared to pass the guardians and enter the Holy of Holies. (p. 132)

Jared is still staying downstairs most of the day, but James says he really is sick.

I got a call from Vickie, my sister-in-law, this morning. She is my brother Harold's wife. Their son was just diagnosed with bladder cancer. We talked for an hour and a half before Vickie said it was time for her to go.

James was going to put my new license plate on my car except he can't seem to find it. It was on the counter in the kitchen and he said he picked it up and was going to carry it out into the garage to put it on but he realized how late it was and he needed to take a shower before we left for dinner with our friends. When he got out of the shower he couldn't find the license plate.

We are also still waiting for our money from Liberty Mutual insurance. They mailed it on August 29th. I am afraid they probably used our physical address instead of our P.O. Box number.

Darrel's family went to Maui in spite of the fire in Liahana where they were going to stay. I guess they stayed somewhere else but still had a great time.

In east Texas new Charlie has learned to ride her bicycle without her training wheels. Go Charlie!

We met Janna and Willy Grombach at the church parking lot tonight at 5 p.m. and they rode with us to The Pasta House in Pinetop where we met Ralph and Cheryl Sedig and Lynn and Roger Wallace. I reserved a table for 6 p.m. for 8 people. The Pasta House is a made over house in Pinetop. It is small but elegant. James and I sat across from Roger and Lynn Wallace and got to know them a little better throughout the evening. Here is what everyone ordered:
Ralph and Willy both got spaghetti with meatballs. Cheryl ordered lasagna, Lynn baked ziti, Roger stuffed shells, James halibut, and Janna and I ordered the special, filet mignon with gorgonzola sauce.
For dessert James and I shared a chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream. He ate the torte and I ate the ice cream. Janna and Willy got the creme brulee as did Ralph and Cheryl. Lynn got the cannoli and Roger the cheesecake. All of the desserts were delicious.

We enjoyed visiting with Willy and Janna in the car. Janna is staying with her mom, Pat Tedder. Pat thinks she had a stroke the other day. The doctor said she was in a-fib. Janna is taking her to the doctor on Thursday and hopes they can get a pacemaker for her.

It was a nice evening, a way for us to show a small expression of our gratitude for all the the guys have done to help with our stable. Ralph and Willy have done all of the welding and have asked for absolutely no pay. Roger comes to help. We will probably be taking them out again before the stable is finished.

And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of endless misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

I love Mondays because they represent a new beginning. I am always grateful for new beginnings.

Ralph and Willy came over this more to do more welding on the stable. These two guys are two of the nicest guys I have every met and they are so low-key. I know Willy better than Ralph but these two have been best friends since high school and they are a lot alike.
James is going to get a picture of them for me so I can post it on here.

I found out a few days ago from Instagram posts that Trina and Darrel were ate the beach so I texted today to see where they were. I didn't think there would be anyway that they would have gone to Maui, but they did. They are staying in a different town than Lahaina, where the fire was and they are having a great time!

Jared didn't come outside to work with James this morning so we are still concerned. We said a prayer and decided that we needed to talk to him. James went down to get him while I got presentable.

James started talking to Jared before I made it into the family room. He told him we were very worried about him because of his change in behavior and asked him if he had been drinking. Jared said no, he had not, that he was just sick. I asked him if he wanted to stay here. He said yes, at least until the stable was finished. Case closed. He's staying. We had said if he had been drinking that we were going to take him home. I had even called Stacy and told her. Jared spent the rest of the day in bed.

Stacy had her deal go through and she was able to pay me some of the money she owes me.

Tom Van Vleet's funeral will be a week from Saturday. I asked Sheri is she wanted me to go with her. She said no, there was a group from the office who would be going.

James and I went to town this afternoon. He needed to get something at Lowe's and then we went to Firehouse for some dinner. We each got a small Hook and Ladder sandwich and we got a medium one to take home to Jared. He took it and put it in the frig and said he would eat it tomorrow.

I watched yesterday's episode of "When Calls the Heart." James and I started the last book in the Barrington family sage, "Promise of Zion." The weather was beautiful today.

And ye will not suffer your children that they go hungry, or naked; neither will ye suffer that they transgress the laws of God, and fight and quarrel one with another, and serve the devil. . . . But ye will teach them to walk in the ways of truth and soberness; ye will teach them to love one another, and to serve one another.

April General Conference
"The Teachings of Jesus Christ" by President Dallin H. Oaks

Up at 4:30 to pray, study, and shower.
I broke my "Trust in the Lord" jar that I was going to use in my lesson today. Stressful and a little bit sad.

We left for the church around 8:30, giving me time to setup before sacrament meeting. The sister missionaries were the speakers in sacrament meeting.

Sister Fish - Related to Fish family from Lakeside. How can I prepare for General Conference? Grateful for a Prophet and also that I can receive revelation for myself. During the time of King Benjamin the people gathered their tents facing where the Prophet was to speak. Sister Fish looked through President Nelson's talks for his Prophetic Priorities. He wants us to be trying and putting for effort. DC 21:4-6 the importance of a prophet. "Give heed unto all his words and commandments which he shall give unto you as he receiveth them, walking in all holiness before me. For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in all patience and faith. For by doing these things the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name's glory." Sister Fish wants sisters to be able to serve for 24 months.

Sister Brooksby - Sister Brooksby is from North Carolina and she has 7 brothers and 2 sisters. 3 Nephi 13:20-21: "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where you treasure is, there will your heart be also."
D&C 18:10 - "Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God." We are God's treasure. How sharing the gospel blesses our lives. Tender mercies - We should be each other's treasures. Come unto Him. Repent. Jesus Christ is my ultimate friend.

Sister Sukow From New Hampshire, has one sister. Her dad is a surgeon. She has been out one week. She spent 7 weeks in the Provo MTC learning Spanish. Quoted Richard G. Scott about fasting as a way to grow spiritually. Also through our prayers and our thoughts we can grow spiritually. How to receive revelation : D&C 8:2-3 "Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart. Now, behold, this is the spirit of revelation; behold, this is the spirit by which Moses brought the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry ground." D&C 9:8 - "But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.
Be in the right surroundings to receive revelation. Document your revelations and show gratitude. Bring Christ into the process. Turn to Him. As you receive knowledge, your testimony will grow.

What I remember from Relief Society:
"Abide in Me and I in You; Therefore Walk with Me" Elder David A. Bednar
Enoch felt inadequate when God called him to preach repentance to the people.
Enoch walked and talked with God for 365 years.
I felt inadequate when I was called to be the stake Relief Society president.
The Lord can turn our weaknesses into strengths if we Hear Him.
The Lord calls and then qualifies.
We can walk & talk with God on a daily basis.
Abide means to stay forever.
Our seed of desire can turn into a tree of knowledge.
The Tree of Life represents Jesus Christ.
The Lord will bless us as we are consistent in our efforts.
The Lord loves effort.

We had carne asada for lunch. I was disappointed. I marinated it for 24 hours but it still was not very tender.

Jared came in after we ate and ate. I never saw him today. We are so worried about him. Is he sick? What happened to him?
What should we do? What was in his backpack. These are all questions going through my mind as I went to bed tonight.
