Jesus Christ Is The Strength Of Parents
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Your love for your children creates a rich environment for teaching truth and building faith. Make your home a house of prayer, learning, and faith; a house of joyful experiences; a place of belonging; a house of God. And "pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that you may be filled with His love, which he bestows upon . . . followers of his Son, Jesus Christ."

I got up a little late today because I had such a restless night. Hopefully I will have time today to take a nap before we go to the temple this afternoon.

James went to pick up the mower and as he returned he noticed the fences was down and their were cows in the field so when he got home he went down to take care of the problem. The only way we are going to avoid fence problems is to turn on the electric current. Otherwise the animals just walk right through it.

I finished my puzzle today. I like it better than I thought I would.

I managed to get close to six thousand steps before we left for the temples at 2:50. We have initiatories scheduled for 4:00, five names each.

It felt wonderful to be in the temple today. I needed to feel the peace you can only feel in the temple. James felt the same way.

I am sad we forgot to take a selfie in front of the temple. Maybe it's because I have an aversion to getting my picture taken but it would have been nice to have had one with James.

We had a light dinner at Eva's. We each had a chicken enchilada with no sides. James kept saying it was a little early for him to eat.

When we got back to Show Low we drove to Walmart to pick up my Tramadol prescription. I'm going to get the oil changed in my car in the morning but I'm going before the pharmacy is open so we picked up the prescription today.

Back at home we did what we normally do in the evening; walk, listen to our book, index, work on a puzzle, and watch movies.

The Work Of The Temple And Family History - One And The Same Work
Elder Benjamin De Hoyos
Of the Seventy
"From that very day, April 3, 1836, the hearts of the children began to turn to their fathers. Thereafter ordinances were not tentative, but permanent. The sealing power was with us. No authorization transcends it in value. That power gives substance and eternal permanence to all ordinances performed with proper authority for both the living and the dead."

It was cool this morning because of the rain during the night. It was beautiful.

James left kind of early to go work at the Tignor's (Barbara & Terry's), and then drove the Cat (Pierce's) to our house to work on the yard. I had a slow start. I didn't begin baking the cake until around 11:00. The first thing I did was chop two cups of pecans and then roasted them. I am beginning to realize that carrot cake is my favorite cake because it has soo much flavor. Carrots and spices go well together and the cream cheese frosting is like the cherry on top.

When I finished baking and frosting the cake I got ready to go deliver it,  and the small gift and card I had for Barbara. Thank goodness James was here to drive me so that I could hold the cake in my lap. Here is a picture of Barbara holding her cake.

My sweet friend Barbara Tignor
is 88 years old today.
This is a carrot cake I made for her.

Barbara was so excited about the cake she gave me several hugs. T-Bo told me, "Thank you so much." They are such a sweet couple. James and I both love them.

It was overcast this afternoon and looked like it was going to rain at any minute. It was a great day for a ride. James wanted to go pick up the lawn mower at the repair shop so I went with him. Unfortunately it was closed and no one will be there until tomorrow morning at 9:30. We stopped at Stanford for a drink and while I was waiting in the truck this is what I saw:

I've never seen a truckers chapel before.

We also have a Jesus tent in Vernon for the
annual Truth Rally:

We didn't get nearly as much rain today as we did yesterday but it was raining all around us. When we got home from our ride I made bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches for dinner.

James did some indexing and I worked on my puzzle. We also walked and listened to "A Gentleman's Deception." I watched "Christmas in Rome" and began watching "Christmas in Vienna."

This rally is based on John 17:21 -
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

I wonder what their definition of one is?

"The Can Be Nothing So Exquisite And Sweet As Was My Joy"
Elder Craig C. Christensen
Of the Seventy
A powerful but humble king in the Book of Mormon said this:
"What shall I do," he asked," that I may be born of God, having this wicked spirit rooted out of my breast, and receive his Spirit, that I may be filled with joy ... ? Behold, said he, I will give up all that I possess, yea, I will forsake my kingdom, that I may receive this great joy."

Trusting The Doctrine Of Christ
Elder Evan A. Schmutz
If we trust the doctrine of Christ, we will set aside the shiny things of the world so that we can focus on the Redeemer of the world. We will limit or eliminate time spend on social media; digital games; wasteful, excessive, or inappropriate entertainment; the allure of this world's treasures and vanities; and any other activities that give place to the false traditions and misguided philosophies of men. It is only in Christ we find truth and lasting fulfillment.

This first thing I saw when I got up this morning was a text from my CitiCard saying someone had used my card on Walmart.com for $449.48. Was this me. Now it was not, so I had to cancel another credit card and file a fraud dispute. What is this world coming to?

Willie was here at 6 a.m. this morning to look at the stable to figure out how to make the poles James needs. He also told James how to fix the water pump which James has been struggling with for awhile.
James was so happy!

Another thing that made us happy was all of the rain we got today. It was amazing. It rained on us on the way to town, it rained while we were in town, and it rained on the way home. We are so grateful because we need the rain so much. I am hoping that the places where there have been fires have received some rain too.

I shopped at Walmart, mainly focusing on getting the ingredients for Barbara's birthday cake tomorrow. She wants a carrot cake so I bought carrots, pecans, cream cheese, unsalted butter, and powdered sugar. Of course I bought some other things while I was here so I don't have to come back for awhile. We didn't get our car serviced so James is going to bring it back on Friday and I will probably come with him to pick up my Tramadol prescription.

As we were leaving Walmart I asked James if he wanted to share a grill Santa Fe chicken sandwich from Carl's Jr. He said yes and he ran ahead to order it. We waited, and waited, and waited for our order to be filled. Some guy who ordered before we did was waiting too and he did not have a smile on his face. I took the groceries outside and put them away and kept thinking James would come out any minute, but he didn't. I went back inside and we waited some more. One of the workers apologized and said they had an earlier rush and were behind. Funny, because there was no one there when we ordered. Anyway, I guess it was worth the wait because the sandwich was delicious.

Time with James is so precious to me. Today he brought me breakfast, made the bed, had scriptures and prayer with me, drove me to town so I wouldn't have to drive in the rain. We took my car and he did get some gas and diesel but it was worth it because I so enjoyed his company. We spent time on the front porch looking at the sunset and enjoying the weather. I watched "A Christmas Cookie Catastrophe" and this evening James and I watched Taylor Cole in an episode of "Ruby Herring." It was a great day. Oh yes, we walked and listened to our book "A Gentleman's Deception" and we also listened to it in the car.

I know you can't see it, but it's there.
Rain!

Something Tom Baker posted that I can
agree with.
