Restoration Proclamation
#6
We declare that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, organized on April 6, 1830, is Christ's New Testament Church restored. This Church is anchored in the perfect life of its chief cornerstone, Jesus Christ, and in His infinite Atonement and literal Resurrection. Jesus Christ has once again called Apostles and has given them priesthood authority. He invites all of us to come unto Him and His Church, to receive the Holy Ghost, the ordinances of salvation, and to gain enduring joy.

James made me scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast. I told him the only way I really like eggs is with bacon and toast. Delicious!

I tried to work on my August 24th blogpost but couldn't download pictures. I am so frustrated!

James and I left for Taylor to get my bean burro he paid for and they didn't give him at Aliberto's. I ordered a taco and the bean burro. James said he was going to eat at home. James then went in Walmart while I waited in the car. I look to each side and in front of me and there is a dog in each car. So I guess it's me and the dogs, I'm surrounded by them.

James was supposed to get a birthday card for Darrel, a lb. of hamburger, and a container of 1% milk. Of course he added his own items to the list. I gave him a $100 bill to break so we would have cash to put in Darrel's card. He forgot to use the cash so on the way home we had to stop at Chase to break the the 100 dollar bill. While in the car we listened to several chapters of "Song of Salzburg." James is such a romantic.

Between Show Low and Vernon we got behind a big tankard truck taking up more than one last. Cars coming from the other direction had to pull off the road to allow him to pass. He drove very slow. It's a good thing we weren't in a hurry. James stopped at the post office. I was getting Darrel's card ready when Collin from our ward came over and asked James if he was waiting for them to deliver the mail to him in his car. We visited with Collin a few minutes. He and Wendy and some of his family are getting ready to go camping by Green's Peak with the Hunsaker's. The Hunsaker's go every year and invite friends to go with him.

I am still so frustrated with my computer and I think I may have to go in to a computer expert and see what is the problem.

Here are some of the people I spoke to today: Stacy, Kacey Barbara K. from the ward, and Tamara.

It rained most of the evening and into the night.

I feel eternally grateful that from my young age, the law of the Lord started to be engraved deeply in my heart through sacred ordinances in His holy house. How fundamental it is to know that He is our God, that we are His people, and that whatever circumstances surround us, if we are faithful and obey the covenants we have entered into, we can be "encircled about eternally in the arms of his love."

We further witness that Joseph Smith was given the gift and power of God to translate an ancient record: the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Pages of this sacred text include an account of the personal ministry of Jesus Christ among people in the Western Hemisphere soon after His Resurrection. It teaches of life's purpose and explains the doctrine of Christ, which is central to that purpose. As a companion scripture to the Bible, the Book of Mormon testifies that all human beings are sons and daughters of a loving Father in Heaven, that He has a divine plan for our lives, and that His Son, Jesus Christ, speaks today as well as in days of old.

James made me a spinach, pineapple, and banana smoothie for breakfast. I also had a piece of zucchini bread. Did I or did I not take my Tramadol. Who knows?

James and I had scriptures and prayers after breakfast. We read from the Book of Mormon, from the Doctrine and Covenants, and a section from the "Come Follow Me" lesson.

We have more sunflowers than ever in our filed since the rain last week. They are so beautiful. I love to take a picture of Luna in the field surrounded by flowers and grass and the mountains in the background with the blue sky and clouds. Speaking of Luna, I"m not sure if I shared this story but one day before we went to the valley James went outside and Luna was in our yard, eating the grass. He concluded that she used her teeth to lift up the chain on the gate. She's just a little too smart for her own good.

James spent time today ordering lumber for the LaCroix job. He went outside to work for awhile but came back in because he felt dizzy. We listened to a chapter of "Son of Salzburg." We had frozen green burros for lunch and then took naps.

This afternoon I posted last Monday's blogpost and finished up indexing for August.

A hurrican, Hurricane Ida, hits New Orleans. Lots of damage and not power. The situation in Afghanistan continues to bring concern. I have not heard anything about the poor people in Haiti.

This afternoon we also went on a "look at the sunflowers" ride. We went past the field on 3144 and discovered that what everyone is calling Lake Vernon is right next to the sunflower field. Beautiful.
I asked James if we could go to Dollar General to get some milk. Of course he said yes. I was sad because they were out of milk and won't have any until tomorrow afternoon. James got us a box of drumstick ice creams, four. We ate them all, two each. Afterwards we regretted it. We picked up a card for me at the post office from Carmen. It rained on us on the way home.

I listened to Dave and Emily on "Don't Miss This."

The actor Ed Asner passed away yesterday. He has been in several Hallmark movies and the last one I saw him in he looked very frail.

"Why the Covenant Path"
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
God provides an almost incomprehensible gift to help covenant-makers be covenant-keepers: the gift of the Holy Ghost.
On the covenant path we also find the essential blessings of forgiveness and cleansing from sin. This is help that can come only through divine grace, administered bv the Holy Ghost. "Now this is the commandment," says the Lord, "Repent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be baptized in my name, that ye may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand spotless before me at the last day."

Restoration Proclamation
#4
We affirm that under the direction of the Father and the Son, heavenly messengers came to instruct Joseph and re-establish the Church of Jesus Christ. The resurrected John the Baptist restored the authority to baptize by immersion for the remission of sins. Three of the original twelve Apostles - Peter, James, and John - restored the apostleship and keys of priesthood authority. Others came as well, including Elijah, who restored the authority to join families together forever in eternal relationships that transcend death.

James left for church around 8:35 because the Elder's Quorum presidency is preparing, and blessing the sacrament today. We had family prayer together before he left. I slept on the recliner a little longer before I got up to work on last Sunday's blogpost. It's a long one and it may take me all day to finish. The two hour block is over and someone is knocking on our front door. It's my neighbor Kathy. She wanted to see the hole where I fell through on the deck. She then said she was making Cafe Rio green chicken burros for dinner and wondered if we would like her to bring us over some. I said that would be great and she said they would be here around five.

Barbara Goodman texted me to see how I was doing. She also offered to bring over dinner but I told her she had already done too much for me. She and Pierce came over this evening and brought it anyway. They brought a pork roast with potatoes and some zucchini bread. We had two dinners this evening. James ate the pork roast and potatoes and I had a green chicken burro with rice and salad and cilantro lime dressing. Both were delicious. Oh yes, Barbara also brought me some chocolate covered cinnamon bears. I think I could get addicted to them. Barbara and Pierce visited for awhile. Barbara told me about all of the different kinds of foods she is freeze-drying. I told her that her children are going to be so grateful to her for all that she is doing for them. Freeze-dried foods last a very long time.

When James got home he brought me a loaf of zucchini, pineapple, walnut bread from my friend Maxine. It was delicious and the amazing thing is she lives in a travel trailer and only had a toaster oven to bake in.

After lunch and naps James and I went outside on the deck to read from the Book of Mormon. The weather is so beautiful! It rained this afternoon and evening.

I listened to "Talking Scriptures" and "Teaching with Power" as part of my "Come Follow Me" study. I also read a chapter from "God Will Prevail." Chapter 8 - True Covenant Keeping and the Transformative Power of Christ.

James blessed and passed the sacrament to me today. It was a good Sabbath day in spite of the fact that I didn't get to go to my meetings.

Elder Timothy J. Dyches
Of the Seventy
Because "light cleaveth unto light," the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost will lead you to make choices that will tend to keep you in the light; conversely, choices made without the Holy Ghost's influence will tend to lead you into shadows and darkness. Elder Robert D. Hales taught: "When light is present, darkness is vanquished and must depart. . . . When the spiritual light of the Holy Ghost is present, the darkness of Satan departs.

Restoration Proclamation
#3
In humility, we declare that in answer to his prayer, God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph and inaugurated the "restitution of all things" (Acts 3:21) as foretold in the Bible. In this vision, he learned that following the death of the original Apostles, Christ's New Testament Church was lost from the earth. Joseph would be instrumental in its return.

James and I had prayer early this morning before he left to go to the temple.

I got a text from Addy this morning. She thanked me for her birthday card and said that she loved me. Addy is 17 years old today.

I worked on my blog for over an hour this morning. I finally finished last Saturday. As I was finishing there was a knock on the door. It took me awhile to get there, but I'm glad I did because it was Owen Taylor. He brought back a trailer he borrowed from James. He and his wife Tina are building a house up here. I asked how he liked living up here and he said, "Oh, we love it!" Owen has been such a good friend for such a long time. I wish he still worked for James because he is so dependable and responsible. His brother Danny passed away a year or so ago and Owen is taking his old job with APS. He said the pay is not good, but the retirement is awesome. Owen is the kind of person who will always have a job.

A little while after Owen left, James came home from Snowflake. He brought lunch from Aliberto's. I had ordered a shredded beef taco and a bean burro. Aliberto's forgot to put my bean burro in the bag. James called them and they apologized and said his name was on the board and he could come and pick it up anytime. I was a little disappointed. James heated me up a frozen burrito instead. James is extra sweet after being in the temple all morning.

After lunch I took a nap. I watched some of "The Great British Baking Show", and read from my two books, "God Will Prevail" chapter 7 Restoration of the Covenant and the Gathering of Israel,  and "The MindBody Toolkit." Tool #5 is, Ask Better Questions. "Questions provide the key to unlocking our unlimited potential." - Tony Robbins.

When James got up from his nap we read from "Cecelia's Celebration." It is a beautiful day today.

I called Sister Bartels and told her what her ministering assignment was. She is so excited to be a ministering sister. I then worked on my blog posting for last Sunday, August 22nd.

James fixed dinner, summer squash and onions stirfry. Very tasty. We then watched the new Hallmark show, "Sweet Pecan Summer" starring Wes Brown. I feel like my body is healing quickly.

Our neighbor, Sister Crane, has her sister staying with her while she waits to move into her new house in Texas. This sister has a grandson, a Marine,  who is stuck in Afghanistan. Kathy asked James to put his name on the temple prayer roll, which he did.

Happy 17th Birthday Addy!
