The Family Proclamation
P6
Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. "Children are an heritage of the Lord" (Psalm 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives - mothers and fathers - will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.

I listened to "Follow Him" today with John BytheWay and Hank Smith, and Brent Top. It was sooo good. "Zion is a place of safety, peace, and power." According to Brother Top the things to look forward to regarding the Second Coming are four times greater than the tragedies.

We left for the Snowflake temple around 9:00 this morning for a 10:00 training with the temple president and matron, President and Sister Seaman. President Seaman taught the brothers and Sister Seaman taught the sisters.

Sister Seaman greeted the sisters at the door of the endowment room where we were being taught. Sister Seaman's father was my bishop as a young teenager in Show Low. She is six years younger than I am and I did not think she would remember me. When I told her I was a Maxwell the first thing she said was, "Are you Dennis's sister"?
When I told her yes, she said she remembered me and it was wonderful to make the connection. She said she loved my mother. I loved her mother too.

Later I talked to Dennis and he said: "I have known Kim for over 60 years. We went to school together from 1st grade through high school. We were pretty good friends. Kim is really a great person and I always liked her a lot. She has a great sense of humor and is down to earth and fun to be around. She is also very sincere." This is what I told Dennis: "You know Dennis, I was thinking that the way you described Sister Kim Seaman was exactly right. She had a sense of humor but she was so sincere in her feelings toward the Lord and the temple. When I told her I was your sister she seemed so happy. She is the perfect Temple Matron, approachable and friendly but also very sincere and spiritual."

Sister Seaman said when she gets up on Monday morning she checks on the Church News app to see what temples have entered a new phase. Right now the Snowflake temple is in Phase 2-B. She wants the temple to move to Phase 3. She said she was encouraged this morning when she checked because these three temples were moved to Phase 3: Kansas City, Missouri, London England, and Preston England. She said that she had served temple missions in Kansas City and London, and she felt like Snowflake would be next!

The training took a couple of hours. Here are some things I learned:
*All ordinances will be done by appointment only in Phase 2-B and Phase 3.
*There will be a minimal amount of temple workers. We each may only work once or month or even less.
*The tokens will be given virtually except at the veil. A sanitizing station is at each end of the veil.
*Live sealings and marriages will be taken care of by the temple presidency, matron and her assistants.
*Masks must be worn at all times.
I know there were other things said and stressed but since I couldn't take notes, I don't remember all of them.

Here are the friends and fellow temple workers I saw:
The Reidheads, two Neff couples, the Vances, the Gentry's, the Elmer's, the Shelton's, and the young Sister Crandell.

When James and I left the temple we wanted some lunch so we headed for downtown Snowflake. The first sign I saw was "Bread and Basics." This is not a place we could go for lunch but this is the new business of my friend and fellow temple worker, Debbie V. They are open Tue-Sat and serve and sell homemade bread and other years supply items. I want to come back and make a visit! Debbie and her husband Jim are from Chandler where we knew them. They lived in Shumway but just recently purchased 180 acres and moved to Aripine where they attend a ward in Heber. The same ward the Reidhead's are in. Two of my favorite temple friends are now in the same ward, Debbie and Elwanda.

We were going to go for Eva's for lunch but there were so many cars that James did not want to stop, so we went to El Cupido's. They were busy but they have expanded their dining room so we were able to find a table. James ordered a machaca burro and I ordered the special carnita burro. James actually liked what he got but he said it wasn't as good as Elmer's in Chandler. Mine was good but I could only eat about half. I saved the rest for later and then shared that half with James.

Here are some things I was able to do this afternoon:
I paid the White Cap bill James told me was overdue.
I got my mustard seed necklace in the mail. This is my mother's day gift and it made me very happy. I walked, listened, indexed, and blogged.

I love this scripture: "Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly."
It goes along with my talk that I gave on Sunday. One of the things the Savior ask us to do in the Sermon on the Mount was to think pure thoughts. I am trying to do this in my life.

The Family Proclamation
P5
We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God's eternal plan.

James and I both got up early enough so we could study our talks before church. We both wore masks into the chapel but when I saw so few people with masks on in the audience I took mine off. I think James kept his own, which is just the opposite of what we normally do.

Bishop Hunsaker conducted the meeting. I was the first to speak and I think it took me about 12 minutes. James took around 15 minutes. After we spoke we sang "As I Have Loved You" and there was a closing prayer by Judy Hunter and then we had the sacrament. It was nice to see Andy Wilhelm at the sacrament table along with Brother McCamy and Brother McClellan.

We had several people come up to us and tell us they enjoyed our talks. Today was the first day we met the second hour. Today we had Elder's Quorum and Relief Society together in the chapel because the Primary is using the Relief Society room. Owen Peeler was our teacher and the talk was President Oak's, "Defending Our Divinely Inspired Constitution." James and I sat by Collin D. Wendy was in the valley. After the meeting was over James stayed for the setting apart of Brother Patrick and Brother Lauritzen as Elder's Quorum teachers. I went home and he got a ride home with Chuck.

I made scrambled eggs, biscuits, and bacon for when James got home from church. Afterwards we took our naps.

This evening we had "Come Follow Me" at the Crane's. We got into a discussion about DC 42:18 - Thou shalt not kill; and he that kills shall not have forgiveness in the world, nor in the world to come.
Chuck needed some verification so I looked it up online and there was a statement by Joseph Fielding Smith: Whosoever sheds innocent blood cannot be forgiven. Murder is not covered by the Atonement. There can be forgiveness for abortion through proper repentance.

Everyone was at this meeting. We had vanilla cake, strawberries and whipped cream for desert.

James and I came home and watched episode 10 of this season's "When Calls the Heart." Ned and Florence got married. It was a good episode! Only two more episodes and Season 8 is over.
Who will Elizabeth choose, Luca or Nathan?

The Family Proclamation
P4
The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Even pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God's commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.

At 5:18 this morning I saw elk in the yard. James asks if there are any bulls. I check and say no. He stays in bed. As I look out the window I realize that our grass is actually getting green.

Sheri said she won't be coming up. She told Max she would do his traffic course for him and he asked her to take him grocery shopping. She also said she couldn't drive for more than 20 minutes without wanting to go to sleep.

I texted Sheri this morning and ask if maybe Max hated doing finger pokes and shots. She said yes, he did. He thinks getting vitamin D or being outside and thinking positively will cure him. If he had the CGM then you don't have to do finger pokes. Max wore one and hated it. If you wear the pump you don't need to do shots. He won't do the pump. He just really hates this disease.

James came in from feeding Luna this morning and said she had a gash on her neck. He actually put some neosporin on it. Hopefully it won't get infected. No telling how she did it since she goes out of the pasture at night. Hopefully James can get the fence done soon!

Today Vickie and I had lunch with Sandy, David's first wife, and her sister Cindy. We met them at Licano's for lunch. Sandy had told me that she and Cindy were going to be in Show Low and would like to have lunch with Vickie and me. As I soon found out, the only reason they came up was to see us. I had no idea and it made me thankful for their friendship. Sandy and I lived next door to each other for many years and raised our children together. Our kids were best friends and we have so many shared memories!  I have not seen Sandy for over 20 years and neither has Vickie. We had a lot of reminiscing to do. Vickie lived in Chandler for a little over a year next to us and David and Sandy. She loves Sandy. Cindy would come and visit Sandy with her kids and they would come over and play at our house. I don't know her as well as I do Sandy and I think she came to support Sandy so she would not have to come by herself.

Cindy is a couple of years younger than Sandy. She looked really good. She has been divorced and now lives on Flint Street in Chandler. Vickie and I came to the conclusion that she lives in the same apartment complex that my mom lived in when she lived in Chandler. Cindy had on lash extensions and when I told her about Stacy she wanted her number. She was interested in  learning about micro-channeling for her neck. Sandy looked like she had been through a lot both mentally and physically. She has had two knee replacements, back surgery, and shoulder surgery and needs surgery on the other shoulder. She did not look like she felt well but she put on a happy face inspite of her physical ailments.

I told Sandy that the next time they come up they could stay with us. I forgot to tell her that we have stairs in our home. I hope she can handle stairs. She mentioned that she has high toilets in her house because it is so difficult getting up. She may have to use a walker.

Kevin was a topic of conversation. He is going through a difficult time right now plus he turns 50 this year. We talked about grandchildren and shared pictures. We stayed awhile and our waitress was so nice. She told us to stay as long as we wanted.
Sandy looked out the window at the Days Inn and said to me: "Is that where you had your wedding reception." I told her yes, back then it was the Maxwell House. I told her that my grandparents also used to own this restaurant and motel which was called the Paint Pony. The motel is still here and still called the Paint Pony.

On my way home I felt a little guilty because I did not invite Sandy and Cindy out to our place. I honestly had no idea the only reason they came was to see us. I was not really ready for company and James would be surprised. I also needed to spend the afternoon working on my talk. How is that for excuses. I did promise they could stay with us another time. Cindy said, "We will remember that when it gets hot this summer." This time they are staying at the Holiday Inn Express.

This afternoon I finished up my talk and this evening I typed James's talk for him. He is telling about going to Texas and my Easter miracle. I am telling the story about Edward Partridge's reaction after being tarred and feathered.

While I was walking this evening I watched the newest Hallmark movie, "Hearts Down Under" which was filmed mostly in Queensland, Australia, starring Cindy Busby and Tim Ross. Typical Hallmark storyline and happy ending. I liked it. James was at the dining room table studying his talk and doing some indexing.
