Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son
Moses 5:9
And in that day the Holy Ghost fell upon Adam, which beareth record of the Father and the Son, saying: I am the Only Begotten of the Father from the beginning, henceforth and forever, that as thou hast fallen thou mayest be redeemed, and all mankind, even as many as will.

As we gather to hear the words the Lord has inspired His servants to deliver, I invite you to ponder a promise the Lord made. He declared that "whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning . . . and the wiles of the devil, and lead the disciple of Christ in a strait and narrow course."

'We Will Prove Them Herewith'
Elder David A. Bednar
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The process of proving ourselves is a fundamental part of Heavenly Father's great plan of happiness. I promise that as we both prepare and press forward with faith in the Savior, we all can receive the same grade on the ultimate examination of mortality: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

The Living Christ
P4 S2
He was the Firstborn of the Father, the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world.

We got the White Mountain Stake indexing totals for February this morning. We had the second highest amount of individuals indexed, just behind the Rainbow Lake ward. They had 45,000 and we had 41,000. We were pretty excited! I know it's not supposed to be about numbers, and it's not a competition,  but when the stake asks you to do a certain amount and you far exceed that amount I think it's okay to feel good about what you are doing. Way to go Vernonites!

James and I began studying D&C 20-22 this morning together. I am also listening to Brother Halverson whose YouTube lesson is three hours long this week. Whew.

The shepherd's pie I made for lunch turned out delicious. James said it was definitely a comfort food.

Nothing fancy

When our kids were young Sandy, David's first wife, shared a recipe with me for hamburger pie. It was quite similar. The inside had hamburger, onions, and green beans with a tomato soup sauce and it was topped with mashed potatoes. It was a family favorite.

After lunch and rest time I made a trip to town to get some birthday cards and gifts for Sandra and Trenda Wilhelm, Catherine Halcomb, and Jean Howard. All of these people have birthdays this month.
Trenda is not in our ward I love her and wanted to get her a birthday gift. Her birthday is on March 1st and her mom's is on March 2nd.
This is Trenda and her husband Emery:

I made a quick trip in to Walmart for gift bags, colored tissue paper, birthday cards, and lotion and soap or body spray.

After I was finished at Walmart I headed for Dairy Queen to get a couple of boxes of cherry Dilly bars. 12 bars cost $21.60.  I am taking Dilly bars to the Grapp's and they are showing me their new flop eared bunnies.

When I arrived at the turn in to the Grapp's, I noticed several family members gathered around the fence where Thomas was working. I stopped. Benson said that a drunk had run into their fence and knocked it down and didn't even tell anyone. Benson, Emsley, Leland, Cammy and Malea all rode up to the house with me.

When Benson got his Dilly bar he said, yummm, this is sweet, just like you Sister Lambson. Such a charmer.

When Emsley got out of the car she shut the door in Leland's face and somehow he hurt his finger. He began crying and wouldn't let me comfort him but wanted his mom. I took Malea so Cammy could comfort Leland. She is such a sweet, calm baby and didn't mind that I was holding her, although she did keep looking at my face. I guess she was trying to figure out who I was.

Liana was holding her rabbit, Snickers, the only boy of the three. Emsley and Tildy were out at the cage trying to catch their rabbits. When they finally came in they each insisted that I hold their rabbit. Tildy has several scratches from her rabbit, Dixie, and Emsley has ha few. I guess Liana's rabbit is the most tame. I think, Kisses, Emsley rabbit might be my favorite. Half of her mouth is white and half is black making it look like someone had given her kisses.

Snickers, Kisses, and Dixie

On my way home I got a text from Cammy:
"You are so thoughtful! We sure love you! Thank you so much!"

I home I needed to relax a few minutes before it was time to go next door to the Crane's for our "Come Follow Me" discussion. Everyone attended except the Peeler's who had a doctor's appointment in the valley and then were staying the night at their daughter Serena's in Globe.

We took a vote and everyone, with the exception of the Peeler's, thought they would like to try meeting on Sunday evenings instead of Monday. If we do this we will be at the end of the study week instead of at the beginning on Monday. Everyone seems to think that the Peeler's will agree to Sunday.

'Waiting On The Lord'
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Christianity is comforting, but it is often not comfortable. The path to holiness and happiness here and hereafter is a long and sometimes rocky one.
If the word of God is planted in our hearts as a mere seed, and if we care enough to water, weed, nourish, and encourage it, it will in the future bear fruit "which is most precious, . . . sweet above all that is sweet," the consuming of which leads to a condition of no more thirst and no more hunger.

'A New Normal'
President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Now, mu dear brothers and sisters, I bless you to be filled with the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ. His peace is beyond all mortal understanding. I bless you with an increased desire and ability to obey the laws of God. I promise that as you do, you will be showered with blessings, including greater courage, increased personal revelation, sweeter harmony in your homes, and joy even amid uncertainty.

Restoration Proclamation
P5 S1
We further witness that Joseph Smith was given the gift and power of God to translate an ancient record: the Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

The Living Christ
P4 S1
We solemnly testify that His life, which is central to all human history, neither began in Bethlehem nor concluded on Calvary.

I was cold this morning, around 18 and finally got up to 36.

The Peeler's were the speakers in our church meeting today. I have never heard Donna Peeler speak in church before. She did a good job although she was shaking with nervousness. She spoke about the Savior having his "arms stretched out still", asking us to come unto Him and to follow Him. She quoted several scriptures including part of 2 Nephi 28:32 which says: . . . I will be merciful unto them, saith the Lord God, if they will repent and come unto me; for mine arm is lengthened out all the day long, saith the Lord God of Hosts.
Donna started out by saying when she was ill she would stare at the dust bunny on the ceiling and then one day he was gone. She concluded that it must have been her wonderful caretaker who stretched out his arm and got rid of him. She referred to her gratitude for her "wonderful caretaker" as she closed her talk. I think she may have been referring to Owen and to the Savior.

Owen Peeler was asked to speak about indexing. He is our family history consultant/indexing specialist in the Vernon ward. Owen could be a preacher. He has the look, the knowledge, and the presence. He began his talk by saying that Prophets are schoolmasters to bring us unto Christ. Who spoke about bishops being responsible for all of those, member and non-member, in their ward boundaries. He talked about the Restoration of the gospel taking place, "Line upon line, precept upon precept." He then quoted Moroni as he quoted Malachi to Joseph Smith: "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.." (Malachi 4:5-6)

He told about being called as a family history consultant and how through the chain of authority that calling, as all other callings, came from the Prophet and the Lord. He talked about how family history work is directly tied to missionary work and the saving of souls. All names that are indexed are gone into a Church file in Salt Lake City and eventually temple endowments are done for each individual. He defined the word endowment as preparation to enter the presence of the Lord. It was such a great talk!

After his talk Sister Allen asked Brother Peeler to help her with indexing, Wendy DeWitt came to us and reported that she was getting a new computer on Wednesday and could hardly wait to start indexing. Sandra Wilhelm asked me if she could come over sometime and have me teach her how to index. I think the talk was a success.

Before church started this morning I went back and invited the Grapp's to come over to watch the new season of "When Calls the Heart" with us. Cammy said they now have the Hallmark channel and can watch it at home. Tildy asked me to sit by them but I explained to her that I needed to sit on the benches which were softer. We went up and sat by the Halcomb's. I felt guilty about "snubbing" Tildy all day today. I texted Cammy and asked if she could sit by us next week. I never received an answer.

James had an indexing fiasco today. He spent two hours correcting the problem. He had made a mistake and tried to delete 80 items. When he put the 80 back those in front of the 80 were now out of sequence. It was a slow process but he never gave up and was finally successful. He had over 200 names indexed. If I was him, I probably would have erased everything and started over.

Before going to bed this evening we watched the second episode of this season's "When Calls the Heart." Elizabeth told Nathan she could not be in a romantic relationship with him because he was a Mountie and she couldn't risk the fact that she might lose him as she lost Jack. Nathan finally expressed his feelings and told her how much he loved her as she rode away on her horse. Poor Nathan. He told her he would quit the Mounties but she wouldn't accept that.

Our Sabbath is so much happier with pictures

Through preparation, the Savior grew in power and was able to resist all of Satan's temptations. As we follow the Savior's example and prepare through studying the word of God and deepening our faith, we also can draw upon the power of God to resist temptations.

Others came as well, including Elijah, who restored the authority to join families together forever in eternal relationships that transcend death.

The Living Christ

His was a great vicarious gift in behalf of all who would ever live upon the earth.

I got another slow start this morning. I am determined to get out of this slump I am in. Instead of having to sit first thing in the morning, which is difficult for me to do, I am going to do some walking until my pain meds kick in.

Both James and I stayed home today. James is working on some bids and trying to get paid for the Konkle job. The general contractor is now saying it may be another two weeks because he did not hand in the required paperwork. We can't wait that long because Armando needs to pay the guys that worked for him and we have materials to pay for.

I watched the Holland family talk about their roots in Enterprise and St. George, Utah. It was really good. It did look like Elder Holland was using a walker, but I'm not sure.

I wanted to do lots of blogging today but my computer kept freezing up on me so I finally gave up. One of the things I do while I am blogging is listen to "Come Follow Me" podcasts. Today I listened to "Teaching with Power" and "Scripture Gems" who both use power point and have lots of quotes.

I was feeling pretty good that for January and February I had indexed 7,000 names until I found out that Owen had indexed 14,000. He's our leader and he is definitely setting the example.

This evening I made some chili and after dinner James and I watched the newest Hallmark movie, "It Was Always You" starring Erin Krakow and Tyler Hynes. James and I both really liked it and decided that Erin is a better actor than Tyler.

Today would have been my dad's 91st birthday. Happy Birthday in Heaven, dad. I don't have any photos of him on my computer right now, or at least I couldn't find any.
