'Embrace the Future with Faith'
President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
If preparation is our key to embracing this dispensation and our future with faith, how can we best prepare?
For decades, the Lord's prophets have urged us to store food, water, and financial reserves for a time of need. The current pandemic has reinforced the wisdom of that counsel. I urge you to take steps to be temporally prepared.
In that regard, we can learn a lot from Captain Moroni. As commander of the Nephite armies, he faced opposing forces that were stronger, greater in number, and meaner. So, Moroni prepared his people in three essential ways.
First, he helped them create areas where they would be safe - "places of security" he called them. Second, he prepared "the minds of the people to be faithful unto the Lord." And third, he never stopped preparing his people - physically or spiritually. Let us consider these three principles.

"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made" (John 1:3).

I got a Valentine's card from my friend Pam this week, a wedding announcement for Jackson Allen, and the pink Book of Mormon I ordered for Lola.

I ordered the April 2021 GC study journal from Work and a Wonder. I got one last year and really liked it. It only cost me $7.37 because of my credit card rewards points.

I helped James get his truck unstuck this afternoon. I steered while James pulled the truck out with the Cat. We went to get the mail and to mail Sheri's birthday card. When we got to the post office James realized we were losing air in the front passenger side tire. We were planning on going to Dollar General to get me a drink, I said it was okay, we didn't need to go, but James insisted. First we went home and he put 45 lbs. of air in the tire. We drove to Dollar General and all the way home again. When we got home the tire had 20 lbs. of air.

This afternoon I vacuumed the bedroom and family and swept and mopped the kitchen. I made dinner, chicken tenders with sesame soy sauce, rice pilaf and broccoli. James loved it and so did I. I did the dishes, blogged, indexed, and walked. We also read from "Wedding Cake" and listened to it in the car on the way to D.G.

I am a little frustrating with my indexing. I indexed over 240 names today. My total should have been 3,423, but they only gave me credit for 3,324, which is 99 short of what I actually did. I'm wondering if someone made a mistake. It takes quite a bit of time to index that many names.

I texted Kim this evening to see if they were coming up this weekend. She said they were postponing until March 4th and 5th. She also told me that Joe is going to school to learn how to build and repair guitars. So far he is loving it. He gets to build 2 guitars during the course of school. It starts at 8 a.m. and goes til 6. Then he comes home and does Postmates to earn $ and he just started working where Alex works in Scottsdale on the weekends. He is busy and tired!

I asked Kim what Postmates was and this was her answer:
Postmates is food delivery service. People order food. He logs on his account to see if there are any orders waiting for him to pick up and deliver. You can work whenever you want. He is living with us. With school full time and his court bills each month he can't afford to pay rent, so he is living here.

Such good news about Joe. We have been hoping for a long time that he would find a way to earn a living and keep busy. This is an answer to prayers!

Remember the circumstances of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Looked at through the lens of adversities, his life was one of poverty, persecution, frustration, family sorrows, and ultimate martyrdom. As he suffered imprisonment, his wife and children and the other Saints suffered incredible hardships as they were driven out of Missouri.
When Joseph pleaded for relief, the Lord answered:
"My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;
"And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes" (Doctrine and Covenants 121:7-8).
This was the personal, eternal counsel that helped the Prophet Joseph to maintain his native cheery temperament and the love and loyalty of his people. These same qualities strengthened the leaders and pioneers who followed and can strengthen you as well.

Restoration Proclamation
P1 S3
By the power of the Father, Jesus rose again and gained the victory over death.

The Living Christ
P2 S2
Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth.

We got more snow today. Jared and Kacey had their water turned off today. Jared thinks the city turned everyone's water off. They had been preparing and had their bathtub filled with water, drinking water in the frig and they are using snow to flush toilets and wash dishes and take sponge baths.

The reason they have electricity and so many other people don't is because there is a senior living apartment complex behind them and they have dedicated electric for the complex and Jared and Kacey are on the same grid.

Jared is in the elder's quorum presidency and has been helping people deal with the storm all week. They have been moving people without electricity into homes that have electricity and helping people get firewood to heat their homes.

James and I started the next Sadie Hoffmiller book, "Wedding Cake." Here is a description:
After years of mysteries, murder, and mayhem, the big day has arrived, and Sadie wants nothing more than for her wedding to Pete to be completely uneventful. When she receives a threatening, anonymous text message just days before the ceremony, she's determined not to let it interfere with the celebration she has carefully planned for months. But as the threat escalates from a distant fear to a frightening reality, Sadie realizes just how much she's underestimated the situation. Desperate to put an end to the games, lies, and manipulation that has shadowed her life, Sadie, her fiance, Pete, and her children pull out all the stops. What they don't know, however, is just how far Sadie's nemesis is willing to go to make good on the threat she made to Sadie three years ago.
Will the wedding go off without a hitch, or will "'til death do us part" come far too soon? There's no turning back for anyone in the riveting conclusion to this twelve-volume culinary mystery series.

I was tired most of the day today because of a lack of sleep last night. I took a nap and then continued with my normal daily activities. James is having a discussion with Anthony as to whether angels have wings or not. Anthony is a convert and he has believed all of his life that angels do have wings. James did a little search on the Church website and found some quotes by prophets but Anthony still needed more convincing. Pierce Goodman and Jerry Scott went out to help Anthony's neighbor who was stuck in the snow and finally convinced Anthony that real angels do not have wings.

I made a new infusion appointment since I had to cancel the one I had on February 8th. This one will be on March 8th.

James and I watched one of my favorite Hallmark movies today, "How To Train Your Husband." James liked it almost as much as I do. I got over 13,000 steps today and blogged and indexed. My indexing total for February is now 3,183.
