'I Believe in Angels'
Elder Carlos A. Godoy
Of the Presidency of the Seventy
The angels that walk among us in our everyday lives are powerful reminders of God's love for us.
The first angels that I will mention are the two sister missionaries who taught me the gospel when I was a young man: Sister Vilma Molina and Sister Ivonete Rivitti.
My parents and siblings were not interested in learning more about the Church at that time. They were not even willing to have the missionaries in our home, so I took the missionary lessons in a Church building. That small room in the chapel became my "sacred grove."

Restoration Proclamation
P9 S2
We affirm that God is making known His will for His beloved sons and daughters.

This morning on the way to town I dropped off rolls at the park. Volunteers are putting together 65 Thanksgiving food boxes for those in need in the Vernon area. It was a beautiful day to be outside. I parked my car at the park and James picked me up in the truck to go to town. He's doing errands and getting propane while I shop at Walmart.

As soon as James dropped me off at Walmart I realized I had left my phone in the truck. Not only is it my communication with James but it has my grocery list on it. Oh well, I guess I can do some things from memory.

I finished shopping and went outside to wait for James. I know I waited at least 30 minutes, maybe more, when I finally saw him walking across the parking lot. He loaded the groceries in the truck and off we went. When we got home we finished up the book, "Blackberry Crumble." After the groceries were put away James and I each had a piece of Walmart's pumpkin pie. No too bad. I love pumpkin pie!

I made minestrone soup for dinner and it tasted so good! We watched the new Hallmark movie, "A Nashville Christmas Carol."

Grateful for my hardworking husband

'Peace Be Still'
Lisa L. Harkness
First Counselor in the Primary General Presidency
From His position in the boat, Jesus arose and rebuked the wind and said unto the raging sea, "Peace be still. And the wind did cease, and there was a great calm." Ever the Master Teacher, Jesus then taught His disciples through two simple yet loving questions. He asked:
"Why are ye so fearful?"
"Where is your faith?"

'Seek Christ in Every Thought'
Elder Ulisses Soares
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The Savior invites us to seek Him in every thought and to follow Him with all our heart. This gives us the promise that we can walk in His light and that His guidance prevents the influence of darkness in our life.
Seeking Christ in every thought and following Him with all our heart requires that we align our mind and desires with His. The scriptures refer to this alignment as "standing fast in the Lord." This course of action implies that we continually conduct our lives in harmony with the gospel of Christ and focus daily on everything that is good. Only then may we achieve "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding: and which will "keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

With reverence and gratitude, we as His Apostles invite all to know - as we do - that the heavens are open.

The cows came in and drank all of Luna's water. Grrrr

I got a phone call from Molly today from Jared's phone. She wanted to know if she could watch "Heartland" on our TV, seasons 12 and 13. I looked on Netflix and the satellite and could not find those particular seasons. I finally texted Cathi and she said those seasons were on Amazon Prime Video. I checked and sure enough they are. Hopefully we will have a good internet connection so Molly can watch her show.

President Nelson at 11:00 today, presented a message of Hope for the world. It was wonderful. Here are three challenges he gave to us in this message:

I introduced James to the singing of Matt and Savannah Shaw today. He had never heard them. They have a Christmas album that I want to listen to!

I got this quote from one of the Christmas movies I watch every year, "Let It Snow" starring Candace Cameron Bure and Jesse Hutch:

"Christmas reminds us about what's important in life. Christmas is not just about toys, and sales, it's about a rebirth in all of us and a gift of love that binds us all together."

'Watch Ye Therefore, and Pray Always'
President M. Russell Ballard
Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
I think often of those of you who are suffering, worried, afraid, or feeling alone. I assure each one of you that the Lord knows you, that He is aware of your concern and anguish, and that He loves you - intimately, personally, deeply, and forever.
Each night when I pray, I ask the Lord to bless all who are burdened with grief, pain, loneliness, and sadness. I know that other Church leaders echo that same prayer. Our hearts, individually and collectively, go out to you, and our prayers go to God in your behalf.

Restoration Proclamation
P8 S2
The earth will never again be the same, as God will "gather together in one all things in Christ" (Ephesians 1:10)

Anthony was supposed to come this morning to help with the fence but he cancelled because he said his rotator cuff was bothering him. He said he has a roll of horse wire that James can have though.

Before James went anywhere or did anything today he got our insurance reinstated. This was all Quicken's fault. They totally ignored Liberty Mutual's attempts to contact them.

The two missionaries here in Vernon came for an hour this afternoon and helped. This morning Chuck and James went to Holly Gordon's to work. Chuck hurt his arm, the ligament that connects his bicep muscle popped. I think he and James should retire from doing physical labor. They are both in their 70's and not getting any younger. James has a swollen purple under the nail thumb. He was pulling a nail out and smashed his thumb against the door. This is why people should retire at 65.

I made pork chops and creamed spinach for dinner. The pork chops were good but a little too thick. The creamed spinach was meh. I should have just used vinegar and lemon to flavor the spinach. Live and learn.

Today's Christmas movies:
"Candy Cane Christmas"
"Matchmaker Christmas"
"A Picture Perfect Christmas"
and the new one with James,
"The Christmas Doctor"

Jared and Kacey both got tested again today for Covid and they were both negative so they are coming for Thanksgiving with Molly and Charlie!

My dear sisters, I am honored to be with you. You have been on my mind so often during these past few months. You are more than eight million strong. You have not only the number but the spiritual power to change the world. I have watched you doing just that during this pandemic.
You have found new ways to make the Sabbath a delight. And you have made protective masks - millions of them!
With heartfelt compassion and love, my heart goes out to the many women around the world whose loved ones have died. We weep with you. And we pray for you. We praise and pray for all who work tirelessly to safeguard the health of others.

Restoration Proclamation
P8 S1
We gladly declare that the promised Restoration goes forward through continuing revelation.

I listened to Book of Mormon Central as part of my "Come Follow Me" study this morning. I made myself some scrambled eggs for breakfast after going outside in the wind and feeding Luna.

I got a notice today from Quicken that they have no proof of homeowners insurance for us.  I got online on Liberty Mutual, our insurance carrier, and they have a policy for my car but none for the house. The policy I have here at home no longer exists. I tried to call and talk to someone but kept getting automated responses so I finally decided to leave this for when James gets home. He will be home this evening. He said he found someone to finish up for him on the job.

I put cabbage and ham in the crockpot for dinner. I know how much James loves cabbage although I must say it doesn't smell as good as I would like.

I dusted, vacuumed, and swept in the family-living area. James got here around 3:30 and left me two burros in the frig. The first thing he wanted to do was take a nap. Afterwards he went outside to work awhile and then to feed Luna. I had to tell him about the insurance situation on the house and then to announce that the washer wasn't working.

James loved the cabbage and ham. To me it was okay. James wanted to watch a movie and of course I could accommodate. We watched one we had seen once before, "The Spirit of Christmas" on Lifetime starring Jen Lilley. We both really liked it. We also listened to a podcast on agency which was soo good. I really like this quote, "You can't have equal outcome without coercion."
