*How can we better focus on Christ while partaking of the Sacrament each Sunday?
- The Savior taught that the principal purpose for taking the sacrament is to remember Him. We have an opportunity to concentrate on the Son of God during the sacrament ordinance; we should not allow our thoughts to wander or be distracted. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland described several appropriate ways to remember the Lord while renewing our covenants through the sacrament: "We could remember the Savior's premortal life and all that we know Him to have done, the simple grandeur of His mortal birth to just a young woman, His miracles and His teachings, His healings and His help. We could remember that Jesus found special joy and happiness in children and said all of us should be more lie them. We could remember that Christ called His disciples His friends. We could and should remember the wonderful things that have come to us in our lives and that 'all things which are good come of Christ.' (Moroni 7:24). On some days we will have cause to remember the unkind treatment He received, the rejection He experienced, and the injustice He endured. We can remember that Jesus had to descend below all things before He could ascend above them, and that He suffered pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind that He might be filled with mercy and know how t succor His people in their infirmities."
I also like to study The Living Christ during the sacrament.

"The long-standing objective of the Church is to assist all members to increase their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and in His Atonement, to assist them in making and keeping their covenants with God, and to strengthen and seal their families."

When I got up my clock said it was after 5. I had wanted to get up at 4. I came in the kitchen and the clock said 3:50. I guess when I set my clock last night after James through the breaker I set it wrong. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. I started out ok but before too long I was tired and had to take a nap. If I am going to get up at 4 I have to go to bed before 10, not 11.

James went out hunting this morning again after scriptures and prayers. He went over by Eagar and Big Lake again.

I made 3 loaves of pumpkin bread this afternoon. One for Donna, one for Cammy, and one for James and I. Donna and Cammy both have birthdays tomorrow. James ministers to Donna and I minister to Cammy.

After the bread was baked, cooled and out of the pans I covered two loaves and tasted the other. Delicious!

I posted on my blog for October 31st but didn't have time to download all of the Halloween pictures so I will have to finish tomorrow.

It was after 4 when I left for town. My first stop was at the bank for some cash. I am going to the valley tomorrow with the Halcomb's for Time Out for Women and since they are driving me and letting me stay in their room, I figured I would need some cash to pay them. I also went to Walmart to pick up prescriptions and to do a little shopping. I bought both Cammy and Donna a candle to go with their bread. I am so original.

It was after dark when I got home. James was already in the shower from working at the Howard's. I hurried and put the groceries away, put the bread in bags and tied some ribbon around the bags, got some birthday cards from upstairs, and slapped a bow on top of the candles, and James and I headed out. First stop was the Peeler's because Donna goes to bed at 8 and it was already 7:30. We knocked for several minutes and finally Donna came to the door with her walker. I felt bad that she had to get up. We should have texted her that we were coming. We gave her the bread and the candle and wished her a happy birthday. She invited us in but we declined because she already had her pajamas on.

It is quite a ways to the Grapp's, several miles so it was after 8 when we got there. The whole family, except Liana came to the door. Cammy said she loved pumpkin bread and it would probably be gone by the time they went to bed. Benson grabbed the candle and lit it, turning off all the lights in the house. We visited a few minutes and I explained that I was going to TOFW and wouldn't see her tomorrow. She said how much she loved TOFW but decided not to go this year because of the baby.

When we got home I had to clean the kitchen and walk. James worked on Book Trades. He bought four books. We have credits on our credit card so it did not cost him any money. He kept asking me for help so it took me longer than usual to clean the kitchen.

So adorable! I love how she does her toes.

Jesus Christ, Davidic Descent of
Isaiah 9:7
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Book of Mormon #1
3 Nephi 17:1-25
*Why do you think Jesus Christ told the people to ponder the things that He taught and to ask Heavenly Father for understanding? How often do you do this:
My answer: The dictionary says that ponder means to weigh mentally, think deeply, deliberate, and meditate. Pondering is, in my feeling, a form of prayer. Pondering the things of God helps to keep us from becoming complacent in our approach to Him. Elder Neal A. Maxwell explained the dangers of not regularly internalizing the gospel in our lives. "The worshippers at Rameumpton so ritualized their religion that they never spoke of their God again until they had assembled themselves together a week later at the stand. (Alma 31:23) Note the contrast in how Jesus instructed His followers on this hemisphere. (3 Nephi 17:3). See how the Master focuses on the family, on pondering, praying, preparing together! It should not surprise us, if we routinize our religion and do not assign the highest priority to the kingdom, that our hearts and minds will quite naturally drift to other things."

"I leave my love and blessing upon you, that you may feast upon the word of the Lord and apply His teachings in your personal lives."

I got an email this morning from our ward Relief Society president: Message from bishop - Elder Robbins has asked that our stake include in our fast this coming Sunday "a blessing on missionary and ministering efforts of our stake. Specifically that the spirit will be poured out upon all this area and its people as part of the Lord's great Gathering." President Beeler said: "I have faith that when we align with the Brethren with exact obedience, the Lord will grant us blessings beyond those for which we are asking."

James and I had scriptures and prayer in front of the fire this morning while it was snowing outside. The snow did not last long, melting as soon as it hit the ground.

I looked for book trades today but didn't find any. I am still waiting to find where the book arbitrage software is located where I can buy and sell books for a profit.

I paid bills that are due tomorrow online today. Apache county gets us again. It costs $30 to pay online and they call it a "convenience fee." Maybe this is there slush fund to go out to lunch.

I got out my fall decorations for the front porch this morning since I have people coming over tonight. Presidency meeting is here and the Grapp's are coming trick-or-treating.

James and I went to the post office together and listened to another chapter from "Saints." I had ordered the 1 volume of "The Work and the Glory" because mine is missing and we got that today.

I watched, while doing other things, two Christmas movies today, "Help for the Holidays," and "Christmas List."

I got a new windshield today from Crystal Glass. They are the ones that opened the car when James locked the keys in the car on Saturday. Not only did they replace my windshield, they left me a $100 check. I will definitely use them again.!

I cut James hair this evening before my meeting. He wanted to have it cut before he went to visit the Peeler's.

Our presidency meeting lasted almost 3 hours because we worked on our ministering chart. Also, the Grapp's came trick or treating so we stopped and visited with them. Poor little Emsley had a toothache and couldn't enjoy her Halloween candy.

The four of us enjoy one another's company so we had to do a little visiting. I told Tamara I was impressed that Jimmy had gotten her tickets to the ballet for her birthday. She said doing things together works best for them because they have opposite tastes in clothes. One year he got her a purple turtleneck nightgown with horizontal stripes that she did not like. We had to laugh about that one!

After the meeting and everyone had left James and I walked together around the kitchen and dining room. I did not even had 10,000 steps yet. I ended up with over 11,000.

Happy Halloween!

Got her shots yesterday and is sleeping today.

Happy Halloween from Sleeping Beauty!
