Mosiah 19:25-20:11
* What are some things prophets and apostles teach in our day that will help us avoid suffering and sorrow?
3 Nephi 18
1-14 The sacrament of the Lord's supper is instituted and explained.
15-21 Watch and pray always lest ye enter into temptation.
22-25 The Church is to meet together often and invite all to come unto Christ.
26-39 The Twelve instructed to judge worthiness to partake of the sacrament and empowered to confer the Holy Ghost.
DC 64:1-13
The Saints are commanded to forgive one another, lest there remain in them the greater sin;
10 I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men.
*Why should we resolve conflict quickly?
- Elder Klebingat: "Forgive everyone, everything, all the time, or at least strive to do so, thus allowing forgiveness into your own life.  Don't hold grudges, don't be easily offended, forgive and forget quickly.  Spiritual confidence increases when you know the Lord knows you bear no ill feelings toward another soul." That Our Light May Be a Standard for the Nations
 Elder Benjamin DeHoyos
"The Savior's gospel and His restored Church give us many opportunities for our light to be a part of the great standard for the nations."

Foundations of Faith
Elder Quentin L. Cook
"My plea is that we will make the sacrifices and have the humility necessary to strengthen the foundations of our faith in the Lord
Jesus Christ."

I read two chapters in "Women and the Priesthodd" by Sheri Dew.  I loved the cSthapter on Personal Revelation and wish I would have read it before my presentation on the 22nd.

We sat by our friend Colin D. at stake conference today.  When we asked where his wife was he said: "She is in the valley visiting with grandkids.  She isn't over that fix yet.  I got over it in about 15 minutes."  He seemed a little sad and lonely and I felt bad for him.

We need some of these trees in Vernon.

This session of stake conference was another spiritual feast.  The first speaker was our stake president, President Shumway.  He spoke about the Atonement of Jesus Christ:  "All we like sheep have gone astray.  The sheep know the shepherd, the Holy One of Israel.  Christ must be the center of everything we do. Study the Atonement and put all you know on an 81/2 x 11 page.  The Atonement of Jesus Christ washes away every stain.  We must have a broken heart and a contrite spirit.  The best time to repent is today.  Time doesn't heal all wounds, the Savior heals all wounds.  As we follow counsel we become changed, we become more like the Savior.  Be more faithful and studious in the Book of Mormon.  Study everyday.  Write you testimony in the Book of Mormon and give it to someone."
Other speakers: Talon W. from our ward, President Jensen, Brother and Sister Miller of the Snowflake temple presidency, Sister Carol Thompson the White Mountain stake Relief Society President.  And of course, Elder and Sister Southward.  Here are some notes I took during Elder Southward's talk.  He spoke for over 30 minutes again with not notes.  "We live in a troubled world.  Our religious freedom is threatened, marriage is being challenged, and we have natural disasters around the world.  There is a law irrevocably decreed in heaven....(he had this entire scripture memorized.)  Trials may come so the Lord can magnify His power through us.  Faith in Jesus Christ can make us whole.  We must repent daily.  We must have a broken (humble) heart and a contrite (deeply repentant) spirit.  Heavenly Father knows each of us by name.  Follow the counsel given by our prophet.  2013 tornado in Oklahoma story.  Testified to the divinity of Jesus Christ.  Put the Lord first and give our very best to Him.  Align our will with the will of the Lord."

Grilled tuna sandwiches and chicken noodle soup for lunch.  The soup was homemade from Safeway and I did not like it, but the sandwich was delicious.  After lunch we took a nap.

When I got up from my nap I went on Facebook.  I saw a picture of a boy who we know in the Galveston 3rd ward only he was almost unrecognizable because he was made up like a girl.  He announced that he has transgender dysphoria.  This boy who now goes by the name of Chloe was one of the stalwart young men in the ward.  He bore a wonderful testimony one of the last times we visited the ward.  He is a good friend of Ben's.  Soon after he made his announcement his parents each made a statement.

This statement was from Chloe's mother:
"When my second child was born and was placed in my arms for the first time, I was overcome with an immense love for this child straight from God.  It was stronger than anything I had experienced.  I kissed and expressed love over and over.  The doctor commented he had never seen a mom bond so strongly and so instantly with a newborn.  I never forgot this experience and wondered what it meant.  God blessed me with this love.  I feel this same love today.  I love you Chloe.

This statement from Chloe's father:
"When my wife was pregnant for the second time, during a routine ultrasound, the technician let us know we were having a boy.  My wife wanted a daughter so bad that she cried.  I loved the name Elizabeth and am almost certain that was a name we would use for our daughter.  It took us eighteen years to learn that the ultrasound was wrong.  I am pleased to introduce Chloe Elizabeth.  She is the most courageous girl I know.  She is beautiful on the inside and out.  She is kind-hearted and incredibly talented.  She still hates the Raiders.  I feel so blessed that God trusted me to be her father.  I hope I can live up to my responsibility.  Chloe, I love you."

This is a boy that James and I taught in Primary, along with our grandson Alex.  He was bright, intelligent, sensitive, and spiritual.  I admire and love his parents so much.  They are amazing.  It is hard for me to believe this is really happening.  James and I are both in shock but we want to understand and extend our love to Chloe and all of her family.  Her brother Alex is serving a mission in Chile. James is very close to Alex.  He spoke at his farewell and was his mentor on his Eagle project, spending hours helping him build cages for the animals at Desert Oasis Park in Chandler.  Chloe's mother was the Primary President when James was the bishop.  Now she is the Relief Society President.  I have such respect for her and her husband for the Christlike love they are exhibiting to their child who has one of the greatest challenges to face in this life.  Right now everyone is very loving and supportive but I wonder what Chloe's life will be like in the future.  (It is so hard for me to call the boy I knew by this name.)  I pray for understanding and acceptance.

This evening we watched a past episode of "The Good Witch."  This is such a good show and I don't feel guilty watching it on Sunday because Cassie Nightingale is one of the most kind and loving people portrayed on television.

I had a hard time going to sleep tonight.  I think I am still in shock.

Moroni 19:1-24
Rejecting the words of the Lord's servants brings suffering and sorrow.

DC 63:49-66
Blessings are assured the faithful at the Second Coming, in the Resurrection, and during the Millennium; This is a day of warning; the Lord's name is taken in vain by those who use it without authority.
Why should we always remember to keep the Lord's name sacred?

And This Is Life Eternal
Elder C. Scott Grow
"God knows you and invites you to know Him."

I woke up to a winter wonderland.  It was so beautiful and it felt like December.

Trees outside our house this morning.

It was a weird weather day.  By noon all the snow had melted and the sun was shining.  By mid afternoon it was snowing again, but nothing white stayed on the ground.

James is still quite sick with allergies and a bronchial infection.  I read about this concoction on Facebook that is supposed to be 10x stronger than penicillin for getting rid of infections, so I made him a batch.  Here is the recipe: 1 cup of water, 1/4 cup of apple cider vineager, 8 tablespoons of honey and two teaspoons of garlic.

I gave James the best haircut I have ever given him today.  He looks so handsome!  We watched "Country Wedding" together this afternoon and it was quite relaxing.

This evening we went to the adult session of stake conference.  We had to stop and put air in one of our tires so we were relegated to the seats in the cultural hall.  We actually sat next to the Skousens from our ward.  The visiting authority was an area seventy from Oklahoma, Elder Southward.  His wife Victoria was here with him. He was amazing.  He spoke for 45 minutes and never looked at a note.  He has alot of good stories and quotes, and has many scriptures memorized.  Here are a few notes I took in my stake conference notebook:
I had a feeling of reverence and love as I listened to Elder Southward.  I guess you could say that I felt the Spirit.  He thanked everyone on the program.  He told so many good stories!
"The teacher is always the Holy Ghost. 3 Nephi 11:3 - the voice did pierce them that heard to the center.  Alma 46 Moroni and the Title of Liberty.  Moroni rallied his people.  We are being attacked now and must rally around our covenants."

On the way home we stopped for a bite to eat at Taco Bell.  We wanted to go to Firehouse Subs, but it was closed.  It was around ten when we got home.  We went straight to bed because we have to be back at the stake center at 9 a.m.

Mosiah 18:31-35
* How was Alma apprised of the danger his people faced? (See Mosiah 23:1).
* The Lord can warn the righteous when they are in danger.
Elder Neil L. Andersen tells this story: "Working as a special agent for the FBI, my friend investigated organized crime groups transporting illegal drugs into the United States.  On one occasion, he and another agent approached an apartment where they believed a known drug dealer was distributing cocaine.  My friend describes what happened: 'We knocked on the door of the drug dealer.  The suspect opened the door, and upon seeing us, tried to block our view.  But it was too late; we could see the cocaine on his table.  A man and a woman who were at the table immediately began removing the cocaine  We had to prevent them from destroying the evidence, so I quickly pushed the drug suspect who was blocking the door to the side.  As I pushed him, my eyes met his.  Strangely, he did not appear angry or afraid.  He was smiling at me. His eyes and disarming smile gave me the impression that he was harmless, so I quickly left him and started to move toward the table.  The suspect was now behind me.  At that instant, I had the distinct, powerful impression come into my mind: "Beware of the evil behind the smiling eyes." I immediately turned back toward the suspect.  His hand was in his large front pocket.  Only then did I see, clutched in his hand, the semiautomatic pistol ready to fire.  A flurry of activity followed, and I disarmed the man.'...
"The Holy Ghost warned my friend of physical danger; the Holy Ghost will also warn you of spiritual danger" ("Beware of the Evil Behind the Smiling Eyes," Ensign, May 2005, 46-47).
3 Nephi 14-15
14 Jesus commands: Judge not; ask of God; beware of false prophets - He promises salvation to those who do the will of the Father - Compare Matthew 7. About A.D. 34.
15 Jesus announces that the law of Moses is fulfilled in Him - The Nephites are the other sheep of whom He spoke in Jerusalem - Because of iniquity, the Lord's people in Jerusalem do not know of the scattered sheep of Israel.
DC 63:37-48
The Saints are to gather to Zion and provide moneys to build it up;
What verses stood out to me today?
- 37 Righteousness, faithfulness, warning voice; 41 Joseph Smith discerns by the Spirit those to go to Zion; 43 Impart money to the cause of Zion; 44 Do according to wisdom; 47 He that is faithful and endureth shall overcome the world; 48 Obedience brings earthly and heavenly rewards.

How Does the Holy Ghost Help You?
Elder Gary E. Stevenson
"The Holy Ghost warns, the Holy Ghost comforts, and
the Holy Ghost testifies."

A herd of antelope just passed through our backyard.  I wish they would have stayed longer.  I love antelope!
My friend Pam went to the valley to have surgery today.  She had to come home in a snowstorm.  Yes, a snowstorm.

The moisture this morning was coming down in the form of little white pebbles but was melting as soon as it hit the ground.  This storm came later on this evening after James got home at 4:15.  He brought me a green chili burro from Burger House.  He saw Bishop Hall there too.

President Shumway sent me a text today:
"Good morning Sister Lambson.  I was able to reach the Giles's.  We have an appointment set up for tomorrow morning.  Just wanted to say thank you again for your help in making that happen.  I have felt how pleased the Lord is with you and your faithfulness pertaining to this family and really to all of your covenants.  I feel it a great blessing to work with you and to know of the depth of your commitment to the Lord."

This guy from Antarctica probably would have
been right at home in Vernon today.

James and I watched another episode of McBride this evening.  This one was called, McBride:Requiem.  We enjoyed it.

Alma establishes the Church of Jesus Christ among the people.
President Henry B. Eyring said: "From the day of baptism through the spiritual milestones of our lives, we make promises with God and He makes promises with us.  He always keeps His promises offered through His authorized servants, but it is the crucial test of our lives to see if we will make and keep our covenants with Him."
* How does your baptismal covenant influence the way you live each day?
Talk: "The Covenant of Baptism"
By: Elder Robert D. Hales

3 Nephi 13
Jesus teaches the Nephites the Lord's Prayer - They are to lay up treasures in heaven - The twelve disciples in their ministry are commanded to take no thought for temporal things - Compare Matthew 6. About A.D. 34.
DC 63:24-36
Inheritances in Zion are to be purchased; The Lord decrees wars, and the wicked slay the wicked;
How is baptism a point of spiritual departure in our journey?

Then Jesus Beholding Him, Loved Him
Elder S. Mark Palmer
"Anytime you feel you are being asked to do something hard, think of the Lord beholding you, loving you, and
inviting you to follow Him."

I loved listening to Elder Palmer's conference  talk this morning, and not just because he has such a great accent.  It was all about loving as the Savior loves.  Here are some of the things that I wrote in my study journal:
"How can I be filled with Christlike love so others around me can feel it?"
"Because I love you I care what you become."
"See others as the Lord sees the and love them as He loves them."
"Hearts will not change when love is not present."
"Never withdraw love."
"Be humble, repent, sacrifice, and love to receive forgiveness and peace."
"Whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth."

Big Lake

I also listened to a talk given by Elder Robert D. Hales in the October 2000 general conference on "The Covenant of Baptism."
Here are some notes from that talk:
"Pain is a purifier."
"Peace be unto thy soul."
"Teach and live, Thy will be done."
Elder Hales had a visitation of Heavenly Hosts during a recent illness.
"The importance of the Lord's timetable and enduring to the end."
"We need to be in the world but not of the world."
"Heed the Savior's admonition, follow thou me."
"We humble ourselves with a broken heart and a contrite spirit."
"We commit to always Remember Him."
"When we are baptized we are changed forever."

National Geographic post

Kacey had her custody court date regarding Tanner today.  I got a text from Jared on my way to town and this is what he said:
"Short story of what happened.  We came to a short term
temporary agreement out of court.  Tanner will stay with us until the end of the school year.  During the first two months of summer
we get the kids for 4 weeks and their dad gets them for 4 weeks.
Starting in August Tanner will go with his dad and summer with us with each kid going to the other parent one weekend a month.
There is a clause in the agreement that says dad's girlfriend
can't stay overnight when the kids are there.  If he violates
this that makes it much more likely that long term we can
keep Tanner.  This agreement was recommended by
our attorney and after looking at all the facts we feel good about it.
So Tanner is coming home with us for now."

James had a three hour doctor's appointment today.  They did all kinds of tests and gave him a breathing treatment.  I worry that he has been coughing up blood and having a hard time breathing.

I watched another John Larroquette movie today, this one was called, "Wedding Daze."  It is about a dad who has a triple wedding for his three daughters.  It was older, 2004, but I liked it.

I miss James, especially when it is time to go to bed.

Mosiah 18:1-16
We receive the Spirit of the Lord and the promise of eternal life by making and keeping the covenant of baptism.
* Make a list on one side of a sheet of paper the covenants you made at baptism  One the other side of the paper make a list of what God promises to us.
* Review this list each week before taking the sacrament to see how you are doing.
3 Nephi 12
Jesus calls and commissions the twelve disciples - He delivers to the Nephites a discourse similar to the Sermon on the Mount - He speaks the Beatitudes - His teachings transcend and take precedence over the law of Moses - Men are commanded to be perfect even as He and His Father are perfect - Compare Matthew 5.
DC 63:13-23
The adulterous in heart will deny the faith and be cast into the lake of fire; The faithful will receive an inheritance upon the transfigured earth; A full account of the events on the Mount of Transfiguration has not yet been revealed;
What promise do we receive if we keep the commandments.
We will know of the mysteries of the kingdom and receive eternal life.

read, pray, and repent, the heavens will open and you will
know that Jesus is the Christ."

I love President Monson

James left this morning around 5:30 a.m. and asked me to call in his Burger House order at 7:15 because he can't talk above a whisper.  I am home alone, again.

After my gospel study I watched one of my favorite Hallmark movies, "Country Wedding," starring Autumn Reeser and Jesse Metcalf.
Such a cute couple and a great movie!

A barn wedding

Jared texted me and asked me to put some names on the temple prayer roll because he and Kacey are traveling to Longview for the court date for Tanner to decide who is going to have custody.  I put the judges, the attorney's name, and Kacey and Tanner's name on the prayer roll. I also texted Jared's siblings and their spouses and ask for their prayers in Jared and Kacey's behalf regarding Tanner and Emmy who does not want to come and stay with Jared this weekend because she will miss a Sunday shopping party at the mall.

I got a call from our stake president today.  I thought maybe he was going to ask me to speak in stake conference but thank goodness he didn't.  He just wanted my friend Pam's phone number.  He wants to take Elder Southward to visit them on Saturday morning.

I paid bills today and made a couple of blog entries.  I also made some cinnamon rolls that were in the freezer.  That may have been a mistake since I am the only one here to eat them.
