"No work is more of a protection to this Church than temple work and the family history research that supports it. No work is more spiritually refining. No work we do gives us more power. ...Our labors in the temple cover us with a shield and a protection, both individually and as a people." - President Boyd K. Packer
A new couple in our ward, the Lieb's spoke in sacrament meeting. Sister Lieb says her parents were in Gail's ward in California and they love him! Oh by the way, that's Gail Lambson.
I attended a teacher development class during Sunday School taught by Jeff Chubbs. Two of our Relief Society teachers, Cathi Lambson, and Morgan Skeen also attended. We discussed the importance of teaching by the Spirit.
Cathi taught the lesson in Relief Society from the George Albert Smith manual, "Our Testimony of Jesus Christ".
Our neighbor's, Joe and Diana Johnston had a baby boy today, Giles Edward, 9 lbs. 9 0z. It's their 3rd little boy. Diana had the baby at home and Joe delivered it. I offered to bring in dinner on Tuesday.
Alex and Michael were out shooting birds again today. I told James he needed to talk to Sheri and Stacy, which he did. It's just not a good idea in a city neighborhood.

I love this quote from Elder Cornish's General Conference address:
"It is as tragic to think we are too sinful to pray as it is for a sick person to believe he is too sick to go to the doctor!"
James took two of his boys from the Teacher's quorum to run a mile at the Chandler track this morning. It's part of a merit badge requirement. The two boys, Alex Braddock and Andy Tachecki came here afterwards for cinnamon rolls, strawberries, and freshly squeezed orange juice.
James and I went to Max's flag football game. Max made an interception right at the beginning of the game, but it got called back. Max didn't play any offense and sadly his team lost 21-0.
Today at 4pm James and I both attended a Worldwide Leadership training put on by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles via satellite. The main emphasis was on strengthening families and individuals. My favorite speaker was President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. He is so powerful and I really felt the Spirit. He ended by telling us we need to pray, ponder, and follow up on commitments and pray daily for further light and direction.
Darrel and his kids came over this evening. I sent Trina's birthday gift home with them: A Target gift card, a mug full of chocolate, and a candle. I gave Addy and Ruby both "journals" and pens. Addy wrote all about her day. Ruby wrote in her journal too but I'm not sure what it said.
It was a fun day.

I did some errands with Sheri today including picking up Ben and Max from school before noon. They had early dismissal. Sheri and I were talking how we already voted in the primary election for US president. Max made the comment: "I hope that old guy doesn't win because he's just going to make everyone wear dentures." (We weren't sure if he was talking about Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul). Sheri said: "Max, how old do you think President Monson is?" Max: About 40. (He's actually 84 and been an apostle for over 43 years!) How old do you think Granma is? Max: 50. Sheri: "You think Granma is older than President Monson?" Ben: "Yeah, I think he has some really good face cream." Kids can be so entertaining without even trying! Hey I'm grateful one of my grandkids thinks I look 50!
Sheri and I shared a maple bacon cupcake from Sweet Daddy's today. I thought it needed to be more mapley. I do love their dreamsicle cupcakes and their chocolate caramel!
I lost another pound. Woohoo! (I weighed before I ate the cupcake.)

"Do not procrastinate the day of your repentance." (Book of Mormon)
Gospel Study, walk to Walmart, yardwork, housework, desk work, lunch, nap and read to James.
This afternoon I put several dolls in their boxes, and went on new family search to work on helping the Trezise's get some information on family members.
I have lost 6 lbs. since the beginning of January. It's not much, but it's a start. I'm sure the walking helps but I need to get my eating under control.
Read to James from our latest Victoria Holt book, "Seven for a Secret."
Worried about our finances. We are praying James gets the job he bid for Camelback Golf Course. We are still waiting to hear about our lawsuit and wondering if the guy who was interested in buying our lot is still on the planet. Stacy is paying me some money this week ($2000) so that will help. Also James is selling a trailer for $1800.00. The Lord does give us our daily bread, sometimes one day at a time.

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY STACY!!
I walked to Walmart this morning and bought some birthday gifts. Pajama bottoms because Stacy didn't get any for Christmas, a pink t-shirt to go with the pj's, a gift card to Olive Garden, Junior Mints and Peanut M&M's to go with the two movie tickets I put in her card. I also got her two favorite ice cream flavors, vanilla bean and pistachio almond and a strawberry cake mix.
This afternoon I baked the caked and decorated it. I use the term decorated loosely. I also made dinner for James, (Barefoot Contessa fried chicken, rice pilaf and peas). Stacy, Paul and I went to Michael's baseball game against Bogle and watched Hamilton Prep get whipped.
This evening after Stacy's "party" I went on Relief Society visits with Diana Dowdle. We visited Aubri Farnsworth, and Susan Judy's son Trey. Susan wasn't home. James helped the Teacher's quorum with some merit badges and Dallin went horseback riding with the Priest's quorum. It was a full day.

James was so excited to find 40 elk feeding in our "backyard" this morning. He was a little bummed because it was too dark to get a good picture.
We had steak and eggs for breakfast. I bought the steaks for dinner last night before I knew we were stopping for chicken. Mmmmmmm Delish!
Well I actually had to do some work today. I waxed the family-living room floor, washed sheets, vacuumed and cleaned in the kitchen. This weekend the Call family from Jared and Tricia's old ward are staying here two nights. They are paying us $500 so we went the place to be clean. We left for home around 7pm so it was 11pm when we got to bed.

Our plan was to come home from Church yesterday break our fast, take a short nap and leave for the cabin. Two out of three isn't bad. We did break our fast and we did take naps. Well James insisted that we needed to leave by 5 am this morning. I was up at my regular time, 4 am, but instead of gospel study and then a walk to Walmart, I packed and we left for the cabin shortly after 5 am. Since there is road construction the Payson way we headed towards Globe. Bummer that we couldn't stop at Burger House in Miami for a green chili burro. We did stop in Show Low, three times. First at Circle K so I could get a drink. James saw Dr.Clifford Goodman. His family has a place in Linden. Next we stopped at Arby's because James was hungry. I got a sausage biscuit. He got a ham croissant but they forgot the egg so we had to stop at Burger King for a ham croissant with egg and cheese.
It was 20 degrees when we got to Show Low but I think it warmed up to 30 during the day in Vernon. Oh, I forgot to mention we saw a coyote, deer, elk, and an antelope. James loves this place!
He worked on a bid most of the day. I did a little floor waxing, but mostly I watched "Little House". This evening we caught two episodes of "Rizzoli and Isles."
This afternoon we went in to Walmart to pick up a few items. I ended up spending $70 and then we stopped at KFC because James was hungry for chicken!
A relaxing day for me.
