"Opening Message"
President Russell M. Nelson
"Our ultimate quest in life is to prepare to meet our Maker. We do this by striving daily to become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ. And we do that as we repent daily and receive His cleansing, healing, and strengthening power. Then we can feel enduring peace and joy, even during turbulent times. This is exactly why the Lord has implored us to stand in holy places and 'be not moved.'"

"Turn to the Lord"
Elder Donald L. Hallstrom
April 2010

The guy that James hired to grade our road started today but every time we went by he was standing by the side of the road smoking and visiting with a friend. When we got back from Show Low the road had been worked on but was not done and he and his friend were taking a break. James is pretty worried since he hired him in behalf of all of our neighbors. The guy said he had 47 years experience and worked fast. So far we have seen no indication of either one.

I checked on the government website today and it says our stimulus check was mailed today. Hopefully we will get it next week.

I read this from the April Ensign today:

"Learning to choose the things of the Spirit over the things of the flesh is one of the primary reasons why this earthly experience is part of Heavenly Father's plan. It's also why the plan is built upon the solid, sure foundation of the Atonement of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so that our sins, including the errors we make when we yield to the flesh, can be overcome through constant repentance and we can live spiritually focused. Now is the time to control our bodily appetites to comply with the spiritual doctrine of Christ.
That is why we must not procrastinate the day of our repentance."

I am on chapter 14 of Church History in the Fulness of Times, The Apostasy in Kirtland.

I finished the masks today and delivered them to Maxine along with her birthday present, a 12 pack of diet Coke a journal and pin and a plant with pink blooms.

James went with me to town. We got lunch at Taco Bell and then he dropped me off at Walmart while he went to Circle K to get gas and to wash the car. He came in and helped me check out. It was a zoo today, so many people. We waited for over 20 minutes to check out and then they had no bags so I bought some reusable ones. I was so glad to be done and out of there.

I did not find a German chocolate cake at Walmart for Owen's birthday party on Sunday so I asked James if we could go to Safeway. He let me go in while he stayed in the car to make phone calls. I had to wait in a line outside while someone at the door was counting people and letting them go in two at a time. He said only 150 people at a time could be in the store.

I went in and found a beautiful German chocolate cake in the bakery. I also bought some ice cream and I was ready to go. I have stood in enough lines and seen enough people for one day. There was so much traffic in town it looked like a holiday weekend.

James went on a Luna ride this evening while I blogged, walked, and fixed some dinner.

Erik and Amelia and their children are coming up tomorrow so Erik can work on the Razr.

James and I watched Season 1 Episode 1 of "Lark Rise to Candleford" this evening. James had never seen it before.

 This is the cutest ever!

Mexico City, Mexico
26th operating temple
Dedicated: 2-4 Dec 1983
By: Gordon B. Hinckley

Jesus Christ, Head of Church
DC 41:3
And by the prayer of your faith ye shall receive my law, that ye may know how to govern my church and have all things right before me.
Book of Mormon
3 Nephi 23:1-14
What value is there in searching the scriptures and the prophets?
Answer: Today I quote from 3 prophets because I couldn't choose one. The Prophet Joseph Smith: "Search the scriptures, search the revelations and ask your Heavenly Father, in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, to manifest the truth unto you, and if you do it with an eye single to His glory, nothing doubting, He will answer you by the power of His Holy Spirit. You will then know for yourselves. You will not then be dependent on man for the knowledge of God; nor will there be any room for speculation. When men/women receive their instruction from Him that made them, they know how He will save them."
President Gordon B. Hinckley: "I am grateful for the emphasis on reading the scriptures. I hope that for you this will become something far more enjoyable than a duty; that rather it will become a love affair with the word of God. I promise you that as you read, your minds will be enlightened and your spirits will be lifted. At first it may seem tedious, but that will change into a wondrous experience with thoughts and words of things divine."
President Henry B. Eyring: "The Holy Ghost will guide what we say if we study and ponder the scriptures every day. The words of the scriptures invite the Holy Spirit. With daily study of the scriptures we can count on this blessing. We treasure the word of God not only by studying them. We may be nourished more by pondering a few words, allowing the Holy Ghost to make them treasures to us, than by passing quickly and superficially over whole chapters of scripture.
One of my grandchildren said to me: "Grandma, I love reading the scriptures." I think it may have been Addy, but why didn't I write down who it was?
New Testament
Hebrews 5; I/F: FSS and FHE - Hebrews 1:8-9; 2:1-4
SS: Hebrews 5:1-5 Those who serve in God's Kingdom must be called of God.

"Found Through the Power of the Book of Mormon"
Elder Reuben V. Alliaud
"Jesus Christ Himself is the Lord of lost things. He cares for lost things That is surely why He taught the three parable that we find in the 15th chapter of Luke: the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and, finally, the prodigal son. All these stories have a common denominator: It doesn't matter why they were lost. It doesn't matter even if they were aware they were lost. There reigns supreme a feeling of joy that exclaims, 'Rejoice with me; for I have found that which was lost.' In the end, nothing is truly lost to Him."

I was at Dr. Shah's at 7:00 this morning per their request. There was a lot of sitting around and waiting. Cute Noah who is 22 took x-rays, did my consultation, and assisted Dr. Shah with the tooth extraction. I think maybe some of the girls in the office are a little jealous of him. Others might have a crush on him. I think I would if I was 22.

Tooth #14 is to be extracted. Can you find it?
Can you find the implant?
Noah showed me the full head X-ray shot. It is kind of creepy to see yourself as a skeleton.

While I was waiting for the surgery I got cold so Noah brought me a blanket. Such service!

We started out with a price of $1,600. Dr. Shah deducted $300 when I said budget was a concern. I elected to have a local shot instead of oral sedation and the price was brought down to $600.
Dr. Shah gave me two shots. One was in the roof of my mouth. Noah said that would be the worst part, but it wasn't. The grinding, and the pressure from the pulling was the worst part. I'm not sure I want to be awake for that ever again.
Because this is a major chewing tooth, Dr. Shah did some bone graft for a future implant.
The nice thing about the local anesthetic is that I was able to walk out the front door of the office instead of having James come around to the back to get me. I saw some poor woman with two pieces of bloody gauze in her mouth waiting in the back for someone to pick her up.

I was supposed to wait an hour before eating, which would have been around 11,  but we headed straight for Culver's where both James and I got a vanilla malt. It was delicious. I was ready to head for home but James had to stop at the Montessori school in Mesa. This job isn't even going to start until school is out in the spring. They are having difficulty finding the sewer line so James and the architect keep having these little mini-meetings.

I went to McDonald's and got some chicken nuggets with hot mustard sauce. James was so excited about the hot mustard sauce. He said the last time he asked for it they told him they didn't have it anymore.

We finally headed for home the Payson way a little after noon. Stacy, Paul, Joshua, Shipley, and Vader are coming up to Vernon this afternoon. They left a two going the Globe way. They stopped at El Rey in Globe for dinner.

We got home around 4 o'clock. I hurried and put my stuff away so I could watch a Hallmark movie before Stacy and Paul got here. Neither one of them are in to Hallmark movies and neither is Joshua. I watched "A Blue Ridge Mountain Christmas." I love the house/lodge in this movie. I've seen it in another Hallmark movie. It was fun to see all that they did to decorate the lodge and the barn for Christmas.

Stacy, Paul, Joshua and the two dogs got here a little after six just after my movie ended. Paul and Joshua are here to help James split and stack wood tomorrow. We work in the temple tomorrow so it will be in the afternoon.

I made rolls and baked them before going to bed.

Dedicated: 16-20 November 1981
By: Marion G. Romney

Jesus Christ, Head of Church
DC 5:14
And to none else will I grant this power, to receive this same testimony among this generation, in this the beginning of the rising up and the coming forth of my church out of the wilderness - clear as the moon, and fair as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners.
Book of Mormon
3 Nephi 18:15-39

"True Disciples of the Savior"
Elder Terence M. Vinson
"We can feel enduring joy when our Savior and His gospel become the framework around which we build our lives. However, it's so easy for that framework to become, instead, the things of the world, where the gospel sits as an optional extra or as simply attending church for two hours on Sundays. When this is the case, it is tantamount to putting our wages into 'a bag with holes.'"

 "Be Faithful, Not Faithless"
Stephen W. Owen
"President Nelson warned: 'in coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.'"

James installed the new part in his truck this morning. It's called a total integrated power module. It works!

French Bruce contacted me again today. I told him his check was returned. I asked him if he was wasting my time. He never answered me. I suppose we won't hear from him again. James says he owes us $12, the charge for the returned check.

I asked Paula Johnson if I needed to get the signed birthday cards to her today so she could mail the ones that needed to be mailed and she said no, tomorrow at church would be fine.

James worked outside most of the day on the logs. It was a gorgeous day. I researched and bought six books, making a total of fifteen for the week. I walked and started catching up on my blog.

I also made banana nut bread with our oh so ripe bananas. It is James's favorite bread. I wasn't going to put nuts in it because he's not supposed to eat them right now but he told me I needed to put nuts in banana nut bread.

I read to James from "Aunt Dimity Beats the Devil," and to myself from "Aunt Dimity and the Deep Blue Sea."

This evening James made cinnamon apple tea for me and camomile for himself while we watched the next Hallmark Christmas movie, "Merry and Bright" starring Andrew Walker and Jodie Sweetin. This was my favorite so far.

Behold the Lamb of God
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
"We make an apostolic plea for the reduction of clamor in the sanctuary of our buildings. We love to visit with each other, and we should - it is one of the joys of church attendance - but it ought not be pursued so vocally in space specifically dedicated for worship. I fear that visitors not of our faith are shocked by what can sometimes be noisy irreverence in a setting that is supposed to be characterized by prayer, testimony, revelation, and peace. Perhaps heaven is a little shocked as well."

Welcome Monday morning! A new beginning to a new week!
During my gospel study I listened to a youtube video by David Butler and Emily Belle Freeman on this week's "Come Follow Me" lesson.  I also used their handout which looks like this:

Along with these other study aids, I feel I am getting a pretty good understanding of the New Testament:

I read the chapters along with the help of
the New Testament Student Manual.

The title of this week's lesson

This morning I washed the  sheets downstairs, and blogged Friday and Saturday. I am determined to get caught up by tomorrow.

James had a meeting in town with the banker about financing our home to pay off our line of credit and credit cards. He is also waiting to hear from Quicken loans. He also picked up my thyroid pills which saved me a trip into the Show Low Walmart.

This afternoon I picked up my friend Shelly, one of my former young women, and took her to Snowflake for an appointment. While Shelly was in her appointment I went to the Taylor Walmart and did some shopping. I wanted to take back some temple dresses I had borrowed to try on from the Distribution Center, but they were closed.

I dropped Shelly off at a friends house and we hugged goodbye. She is going down to live in Thatcher and take some classes at Eastern Arizona College and won't be back until Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I hurried home and ate some dinner and got ready for the Grapp's to come over to watch the next two episodes of "When Calls the Heart." I did some walking but I don't think I will get my hoped for 16,000 steps. I will be lucky to get 10,000.

James went for a walk on the hill behind our house. He got back after the Grapp's were already here. I told Cammy about "WCTH" coming out on DVD on October 1st and she was excited and said they would definitely buy it.

After the Grapp's left James and I finished watching the newest episode of "Aurora Teagarden."

Lynn is not a fan of Aurora's.
