Many of the testimonies today in our fast and testimony meeting were regarding the Book of Mormon. I read today in an article in the New Era a story about a time when President Nelson was a doctor and one of the nurses he worked with asked him what made him different than the other doctors. He didn't get angry, or use bad language and he was always kind. This was his reply: "Because I know the Book of Mormon is true." He gave this nurse a copy of the Book of Mormon with his testimony. Years later while visiting a stake conference in Tennessee as a General Authority, he met this woman again. As a result of her conversion she shared with him the 80 people had joined the Church. Wow!

During Sunday School we were discussing foundations and I got to read Helaman 5:12 -And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
Sister Woods' went around the room and asked everyone what foundation they were built upon. I thought to myself that Christ is our foundation but I didn't say anything. People were saying things like prayer, love, forgiveness, etc. The bishop got up and said he did not think those things were our foundation. He said our foundation is built upon apostles and prophets and Jesus Christ being our chief cornerstone. The attributes we mentioned earlier are the walls. Interesting. Nice to have our bishop in class to set us straight.

When I got home from church this afternoon I called Marie Robertson to check on her. She said she was doing okay and had plenty of food. She told me this was the first time in 24 years that she had felt real affection from her husband, that it had been a hard marriage but as a result of his actions recently she knew that he loved her.

I read an article today in the Ensign by Elder Godoy about the saints in Venezuela. The name of the article is, "Sources of Peace and Power." Here is a quote from that talk: How can the members in Venezuela, who face great challenges, still be cheerful, strong and at peace? I believe what is happening with many of them is that they are becoming more dependent on God. As a consequence, they are receiving strength from the source of all strength. They recognize the blessings they receive from Heavenly Father, they rely on the power of Jesus Christ and His Atonement, and they are comforted, supported, and strengthened by the Holy Ghost. As a result, their burdens become lighter, their sorrow is relieved, and they find peace in the midst of their trials."

We had a family history training meeting this afternoon with Brother Ranstrom. We still have not learned anything on the computer. Our homework is to ask someone in the ward to allow us to help them on family search. I am asking Sister Halcomb and James is asking Tom.

We watched the next episode of "When Calls the Heart" this evening.

-When President Nelson became the prophet I read all of his conference talks. The Spirit has borne witness to me that he is a prophet of God.

James and I took Lola to IHOP for breakfast this morning. She said she liked waffles better than pancakes, so we ordered her a waffle. She wanted strawberry syrup and would not try the maple syrup Grandpa offered her.

I ordered the cream cheese crepes
with raspberry sauce. It looks more like a dessert.

Grandpa dropped us off at home and then hurried to a meeting he had in Phoenix about building some houses for Salvador J.

Lola got her hair done by her mom and she and I went to the bicycle shop with Trina to get a flat tire fixed. Trina is doing a Sprint Triathalon on Saturday and needs that bicycle. 
Afterwards Trina was nice enough to take me to Hobby Lobby. 

I got most of the things on my list but not all because I was already over my budget. Trina wanted to take Lola to the Christmas section while I was shopping but Lola said, no, she wanted to wait for Grandma. Such a sweetie!

James got home before I did and was waiting for me. He helped me pack my items. We said goodbye to Lola and Trina and left for Costco. Trina said there was a Costco on Sossaman and Southern which was closer than going back to the one in Gilbert, so that's where we went.
We were disappointed to find that this Costco does not have Alpine Valley bread, the main thing we wanted to buy. They also don't have a gas station. We did manage to spend all of my rewards check, all $97 and then some. I got a mirror on a stand with a light, jumper cables, etc. for the car. We also got three watermelons, raspberries, blueberries, and mango. It sure is easy to spend money at this place.

We left Costco and went back to Fry's to get some gas and then we were on our way home. We didn't even have to stop for lunch because we got a hotdog and a drink for $1.50 at Costco.

The trip home was pretty uneventful except for one thing. While traveling between Globe and Salt River, a mountain lion jumped off a cliff right beside our car. I yelled and James asked me what was wrong because he hadn't seen it. When I told him, he looked in the rearview mirror and caught a glimpse. Be still my heart!

For F.H.E. James had me listen to a business opportunity on the internet. It involves buying textbooks off Amazon from third party sellers and then selling them back to Amazon. I told him I did not want to be in charge but that I would help him do this. We signed up for a seminar for Friday morning at 7 a.m.

The attitude of prayer ordinarily was standing (1 Sam. 1:26; Neh. 9:2, 4; Matt. 6:5; Luke 18:11, 13); also kneeling (1 Kgs. 8:54; Ezra 9:5; Dan. 6:10); or prostrate (Josh 7:6; Neh. 8:6). The hands were spread forth to heaven ( 1 Kgs. 8:22; Ezra 9:5; Ps. 141:2; Isa. 1:15). Smiting on the breast and rending of the garments signified special sorrow (Ezra 9:5; Luke 18:13). The Lord's attitude in prayer is recorded only once. In the Garden of Gethsemane He knelt (Luke 22:41), fell on His face (Matt. 26:39), and fell on the ground (Mark 14:35). It is noteworthy that Stephen (Acts 7:60), Peter (9:40), Paul (20:36; 21:5), and the Christians generally (21:5) knelt to pray.

*How are King Benjamin and King Noah different? How can we develop character traits of King Benjamin?
- Verse 2 sums up King Noah's life pretty well. He didn't keep the commandments, he made his own rules, violated God's laws, sponsored all kinds of evil, which led the people away from Christ. Everything King Benjamin did was to bring people towards Christ. He didn't want to be a burden to his people, and worked hard to provide of his needs. King Noah on the other hand, expected others to support his laziness, idolatry and whoredoms. These two leaders illustrated differences of righteous and unrighteous use of power and authority, how to handle conflicts, attitudes toward temples, physical labor and service. One had a lust for worldliness, and one had courage, faith and worshipped God. Which leader would you rather have? In the end King Benjamin retired from the kingship, lived in peace, and passed the kingdom to his son, and his obedience secured him a place in God's kingdom. King Noah spent his life on the desires of the flesh, his cruel treatment of Abinadi became his own death sentence.

James and I left for Show Low at 7:20 this morning. We stopped at Dr. Moffat's office so James could get a steroid shot before going to the hospital for an MRI on his shoulder and upper back. I shopped a little at Walmart buying veggies and water for our trip and then walked around the parking lot at the hospital. James finally came out around 10 a.m. Just in time. I guess it was quite an ordeal because the MRI machine was so tiny.

We arrived at Sheri's work right at 1 p.m. when she gets off for lunch. Kim was already waiting in the parking lot. James dropped me off and went to get Lexy and take back the rental car. Kim drove us to Cafe Rio across from the Chandler mall. I had a green chili pork taco with some pinto beans. It was nice to visit with my girls even if it was for a short time. James texted and said he was on his way so Kim and Sheri said their goodbyes and left me in front of Cafe Rio. James drove right up as they left. 

Guess where we went? Olive Garden so James could have some lunch. I had a $50 giftcard I got with the rewards program on my credit card.  I just had soup and salad and of course two breadsticks! 

Next stop was Stacy's house to take her the Savior book mark. Well actually I forgot to give Kim and Sheri theirs so we stopped by Sheri's and after Stacy's we went to Kim's.

Joshua was home from school with a tummy ache and of course we were greeted by Vader and Shipley. Vader ran away and Joshua had to go chase him down.

Stacy was in bed upstairs. She says she is doing much better. When I asked if there was anything we could do she said no, Paul was taking good care of her. I guess he has order her "Freshly" the food service that is delivered to your home.

After Kim's we drove out to see Darrel's family. Everyone was home, including Darrel. We gave them their bookmark and James took a nap on the couch. We stayed about an hour and then we were on our way home. When I walked in the door Lola came running to me and jumped into my arms. That made my day. She had a friend, Scarlett over to play. She needed help building something and James helped her. Trina's Chunky Monkey challenge starts on Sunday. I am excited! 

We stopped at Taco Bell in Globe for dinner. We arrived home at 7:45, the exact time James said we would. I think Lexy was happy to be home, I know I was.

I walked until I got 15,000 steps and finished watching "The Greatest Showman."
