10/19 General Conference
"The Savior's Touch"
Elder Walter F. Gonzalez
"Much like the leper, we can find strength and comfort in this life by accepting His will and knowing that He wants to bless us. We can find the strength to face any challenge, to overcome temptations, and to understand and endure our difficult circumstances. Surely, in one of the most crushing moments of His life, the Savior's strength to endure was deepened as He said to His Father, 'Thy will be done.'"

I read something on my blog from February 9, 2018 that I want to share again: "While reading and studying 2 Nephi 2 I came across this quote in a study guide I am using by Brother Eldin Ricks:
'In Lehi's inspired and profound discourse that comprises chapter 2 we find the theological and philosophical core of the Book of Mormon. Within the limits of this single treatise the prophet explains (a) the hopelessness of man's plight without a Redeemer, v.5 (b) man's dependence upon Christ for his salvation, vs.6-9, (c) the legal demands of divine justice, v.10 (d) the reason for God's allowing evil in the world, vs. 10-13 (e) the story of the fall of Adam and its purpose in opening the doorway to man's mortality in the midst of good and evil, vs. 14-25, (f) man's freedom to attain Eternal Life through the redemption of Christ, vs. 26-29.'"

I love going back and looking at old journal entries and reliving what I've done in the past.

RWC: "By becoming part of the holy order in the premortal world, we entered into a covenant to become Savior's on Mt. Zion to the entire human family, starting with our own families." (p.74)

It snowed off and on today, nothing like the four inches we got yesterday. I made a big breakfast this morning. Hashbrowns, sausage and eggs. It was quite good. And James was probably shocked that I fixed breakfast.

James and I finished the book, "Aunt Dimity Detective," and started the book, "Aunt Dimity Takes a Holiday." I am still reading "Aunt Dimity Goes West."

I got my book shipment ready to mail. Sixteen books at around 47 lbs. James lifted the box and carried it to the car. I can't stop the man. Hopefully it's okay that he's lifting again.

A notary came to our house today so we could sign papers for the closing of our loan. Her name was Peggy Orth. We are so grateful that this closing is finally taking place. Now I wonder how long it will take for us to get our money.

James spoke with Dr. Memon today about the medical mall he has plans to build in Chandler. I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever happen.

Tomorrow is our temple day. I did not have to bake rolls as I had some left over from our Thanksgiving meal in the freezer. I took them out. I am taking some of Kathy Crane's blackberry jalapeno jam along with some strawberry jam to go with the rolls tomorrow.

This was a video. Kacey asked her if she wanted her
to read a book. Charlie's reply: "Yes" in the cutest
little voice ever!

James trying to fix the heater to put out in
the pump house. He succeeded!

So very sad.

Joshua is starring in "A Christmas Carol" at his school on
December 3rd. He is going to play Scrooge. His teacher asked if anyone had any old looking quilts they could use. I sent Stacy these
pictures and told her I could bring them down the day of the play.

My "Nannie" made this one.

General Conference
The Eye of Faith
Elder Neil L. Andersen
"We can know the things of God as we seek them spiritually. Paul said, 'The things of God knoweth no man, except he has the Spirit of God. ...For they are spiritually discerned.'"

I did two blog entries this morning and I am still behind.

Darrel and Trina worked on getting Lola's room fixed up. They put in a ballet bar in front of a mirror and also a new dresser. Everything is white with pink accents and a little blue. Lola loves it!

James and I cleaned the kitchen and family room area. He did the dishes and focused on the kitchen while I swept the entire area. James also washed the arcadia door window. We don't normally clean on Sunday but Trina invited the family over for dinner, plus she is having a Whirlygirl photo shoot after church. Whirlygirl is the name of Trina's website where she is selling little girl leotards.

We attended the Twenty-two Point ward with Darrel, Trina, and the kids. We sat on the front row of the overflow.

The youth speaker is the daughter of a professor at Grand Canyon University. He teaches classes on the Bible. He daughter, Sophia, talked about the parable of the talents. The crux of her talk was that we need to develop our talents so that we can serve others.

The next talk was by a Sister Humpherys. She quoted Proverbs 22:16: "Train p a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." She asked the question she was asked: "How is my family preparing for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ."? Here are some of the notes I took:
We must lead by example. She says she seeks to obtain the Spirit in the early hours of the morning when her house is quiet.
She tries to make her home a haven. They set a goal to have one day with no fighting. To work up to that day they practiced each day having an hour of no fighting. They called it the hour of peace.
Build faith in Jesus Christ through daily family prayer and scripture study. Attend meetings, have dinner together. They ask themselves the question, "what if Jesus was coming this week."
They set goals in these areas: spiritual, physical, talents, education, service, work, future, and fun. They practice having love at home.

Brother Graham was the last speaker. He spoke on the importance of doing missionary work. He used Elder Uchtdorf's talk from conference: "Missionary Work: Sharing What Is in Your Heart."
These are the five points mentioned in Elder Uchtdorf's talk:
1. Draw closer to God.
2. Fill your heart with love for others.
3. Strive to walk the path of discipleship.
4. Share what is in your heart.
5. Trust the Lord to work His miracles.

I sat by a Sister O'Connor during Relief Society. She was so friendly and kind. She has been a widow for 15 years. She said her husband's mother was a Maxwell from Eagar. We figured we must be related.

The lesson was based on Elder Rasband's talk: "Build a Fortress of Spirituality and Protection." It was a great lesson with lots of participation. I want to use this talk in our Relief Society in Vernon.
Sister Hansen taught the lesson. She goes back and forth from her home here and in California where her husband is still an air traffic controller. Their son and his family with two children are in the ward too.

When we got home from church Darrel, James and I began preparing for dinner while Trina, Lola, Scarlett and her mom, and Ivy and her mom, did a photo shoot with the girls modeling the leotards that Trina has for sale.

The family began arriving around 5 pm. Attending were:
Sheri, Ian, Max, Evan, Kim, Brian. They came for dinner. After dinner Stacy, Paul, Michael, and Joshua came.

For dinner we had: Darrel's lemon chicken and rolls, a salad and macaroni and cheese made by Sheri, asparagus made by Trina, and strawberry shortcake with ice cream and whipped cream made by James and I. Brian and Kim visited with us during dinner but didn't eat.

Here are some photos from this fun family affair:

is selling.

While Ruby, Kim, and I were playing Rummicub Lola felt a little left out. She wanted someone to come upstairs and play dressup with her. I suggested that she do a fashion show with all of her dressup clothes, so she did.

Everyone got a tour of Lola's new room. She is so excited about it.
She said she was so proud of her mom for doing such a good job. We reminded her that her dad helped too and she said, "Oh yeah, him too." She also told everyone not to touch the ballet bar.

After everyone left, Lola, Ruby, and Darrel played PieFace. I'm sorry I missed getting a photo of Darrel.

The girls loved getting hit in the face
with whipped cream.

Back home in Vernon, or should I say Show Low,
Heather had her baby.

Charlie was just too tired for the
regular Sunday photo shoot.
