Up at 2:38 a.m. I had my prayers and studied a name of Christ. These are the names I studied this week: Alpha & Omega, Bread of life, Deliverer, Good shepherd, Lamb  of God, Light of the world, living water.

The Robles , Jacob, Natalie, Ethan, and Makenzi spoke in sacrament meeting today. I especially liked Natalie's and Makenzi's talks. Here is how Natalie started out her talk. She said: Why did I come to church today. She then said that Elder Giminez says that "Jesus is his why." She talked about how in the D& C the Lord calls Joseph Smith and others His friends. She asked us to ask ourselves the question: "How do I make the Savior my friend?"

Makenzi shared some things Elder Stevenson has reminded how we can be a light to the world:
1) Live the gospel 2) care for the needy, 3) invite others to receive the gospel, 4) do family history work.

I gave the Mack's and the Peralta's a sympathy card for the death of their son, brother, and uncle. It had several scriptures to read. Chloe thanked me for the card. Ruthie Wilhelm got a pencil poked into her eye so she is wearing a protective plastic device on it to keep herself from touching it. Julie Wilhelm is here for awhile. She works for the US Forestry and is here visiting from Utah.

I was the first to speak in the second hour. I stressed the importance of studying the "Come Follow Me" lessons at home and coming to church prepared to share and discuss what we have learned. I used the example of the lesson on D& C 88 and went through the subheadings and how I use a study guide and write in my "Come Follow Me" journal. I bore my testimony of the importance of gospel study in our lives.

Brother Wilhelm was next, the Brother Knight, and Brother Allen. The bishop spoke at the end. He wants the members of the ward to read the scriptures and study the lessons before coming to church on Sunday, hence the reason for this meeting.

Bishop Hunsaker came up to me afterwards and said: "When you got up to speak I turned to Brother Knight and said: 'She's so cute.'"
I am old enough to be his mother.

We did not have marriage/parenting class today.

After lunch and a rest I went over my weekly schedule. It looked something life this:
Monday: F.H.E. with MacArthur's
Tuesday: Woodland Lake & covered bridge with Halcomb's
Wednesday: Cress Miller's birthday cake
Thursday: Chicken noodle soup for Kate Hahn's dinner
Friday: Temple with Ruth and Jewell Turley
Saturday: Scottie MacArthur's soccer game

James had a temple recommend interview with Steve Allen today. Now he needs to have it signed by a member of the stake presidency.

Stacy called me this afternoon. Joshua is quitting his job at George & Gaither and Alex his getting him a job at the restaurant he works at in Scottsdale. It is a high end dining establishment for the rich & famous and is not anywhere I would ever want to go. It's called Ocean 44. Stacy is worried about transportation. The nice thing about G&G is that it is just a couple of miles away from their house. This restaurant is in north Scottsdale. It looks like Joshua might need to use some of that $8,000 he has saved to buy a car.

Stacy is sick with a virus right now. She told me a date she went on with Adam which made me happy as their relationship has not been good since Adam became an adult. Adam bought the tickets and Stacy bought the popcorn and drinks.

I am reading the preface to "The Second Coming of Our Lord" and I am amazed at all the changes since the first publication of the book.
So many interesting things have happened in the world and within the Church.

I did not realize that we have six missionaries from our ward, four out in the field and two service missionaries. Those in the field:
Elder Wilhelm in Newport Beach, California, Elder Finnegan in the Seattle, Washington mission,  Sister Pronger in Independence, Missouri and Sister Jameson in Australia. Brother Deven Crane is here in Arizona on a service mission and Sister Bridget Jordan who is in our ward and is serving a family history mission. Since we have been in the ward we have not had this many missionaries out at one time.

Paul and Joshua gave someone a blessing of healing today. Joshua anointed and Paul gave the blessing. This is a first for Joshua and Stacy was very proud.

I was up at 2:38 this morning. Who wants to sleep when there is so much to do!

We had several tender mercies today. My computer wouldn't come on. I said a prayer and boingo, it came on. I misplaced my Airpods today. I looked everywhere I could think of and then I said a prayer. After saying the prayer I thought to look in the pocket of my jeans which were hanging up in the closet. There they were.

James got his heat treatment on his hands, feet, and back. We read from the Book of Mormon, did the "Come Follow Me" section of the lesson for today and had prayer.

James's big accomplishment today, as far as I am concerned, was getting the old refrigerator moved outside. He got it out into the entryway and then he asked Paul Peeler to come over and help him get it outside on the front porch. He told him it would take five minutes. It took much longer, but they did it. Thank you Paul!

Waiting for our new frig to be delivered.

We thought the new refrigerator was going to come today but they postponed it until Tuesday. Monday is a holiday. We were a little frustrated because we waited all day for someone to come.

Jared sent me a request today. He said he would like me to tell him about my experience of being sealed to my parents because he is talking about temple work to the youth in his ward. I sent him my experience and how I felt about it.

Stacy told me today that Joshua has not received any of my texts for the past two weeks. Something is wrong with his phone. From now on I will send the scripture readings for the day to Paul and he will forward them on to Joshua.

James was using a saw today. It slipped and it cut his pants above his knee but did not cut his garments or his skin. We consider this proof that garments really are a protection if you are living your covenants. What a blessing and a tender mercy!

Crisis averted

I cleaned one section of my closet. It took me awhile because it was the section that needed the most work. I loaded the car with stuff for Goodwill.

I made omelets, turkey bacon, and spinach for dinner. James and I both love to buy fresh spinach and cook it down with vineager. It is delicious!

I am giving a talk tomorrow during the 2nd hour about study the "Come Follow Me" lesson at home to prepare for a discussion at church during Sunday School. I typed out my outline and I believe I am prepared. Home based, Church supported gospel learning.

Up at 3:01 - Prayer, Perk, gospel study. Around 6 I gave James his heat treatment on his feet, hands, and back. He then laid down with the heating pad on his back and one on his feet. He told me to wake him up in 30 minutes. I fed the cats and noticed it was raining and said, "We are getting some rain." James jumped out of bed and said: "I've got bags of concrete in the back of my truck. It wasn't supposed to rain." He said he had a tarp in the pump house so I ran and looked while he got dressed. I couldn't find it and went to the storage room which didn't look very promising either, it was then I got an idea. Why not pull my car out of the garage and drive the truck in. By this time James was dressed and outside and I shared with him my idea. I jumped in the car and drove it out onto the driveway and James drove the truck in. The truck barely fit where we could put the garage door down because of the trailer hitch. It is very tight but it worked! Crisis averted.

James thanked me profusely for helping him and coming up with the idea of putting the truck in the garage. He was very grateful.

We are feeding the missionaries tonight and I am cooking a brisket in the crockpot. A new concept. I got it in this morning around 8. It needs to cook for 8 hours. Later in the day I made Calico beans to go with the brisket. We also had green beans and Italian bread. (Pioneer Woman's recipe that Jared introduced to me). I had made James regular beans this week. I added them to the Calico beans at James's request so the beans would not be so sweet.

This afternoon I took a nap with Tom, holding him in my arms like a baby. He will only let me hold him when he is going to sleep.

We haven't seen Sammy for awhile. I wonder if he is visiting Kathy's black cat.

I listened to the new hymns while I was working today. I love "Oh the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus."

Some things I received in the mail today: 1.) 3" Christus (I dropped it and broke the hands off. I was reminded of something Sheri said in her last RS lesson I attended. Statue of Christ with no hands. We are his hands.) 2.) Honey container, Beehive shaped. 3.) 10 new drinking glasses, just in time for feeding the missionaries this evening. 4.) a new dress 5.)James's white temple pants (listed as golf pants on Amazon).

Elder Perkins had a different companion with him this evening. I guess they are on splits. This new elders name is Elder Laster and he is from Florida. He was interested in our horses and thought Luna was one of the most beautiful paint horses he had ever seen. He use to work on one of the Church ranches in Florida.

The elders seemed to enjoy the brisket, they both had an ample amount, and for dessert we had Nutella bars which Elder Laster loved. Before leaving Elder Laster shared a message from D&C 34:1-2:
1) My son,..., hearken and hear and behold what I, the Lord God, shall say unto you, even Jesus Christ, your Redeemer;
2) The light and the life of the world, a light which shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not;

Thank you Elder Laster. It was nice meeting you. Elder Laster's missionary badge is in Navajo because his first area was on the reservation.

Before the elders came I packed up some food and had James take it to Pat Tedder. I had invited her to come over and eat with us but she declined because she just isn't ready to go out with her oxygen tank yet.

Affirmation: I am beloved and eternally precious to my heavenly parents and my Savior. My worth never changes. When I make mistakes I can run into my Savior's arms and be healed because of His Atonement.

Up at 3:20. I had a dream about who will be our new bishop. It is a little big strange because this person doesn't even come to church and I am not sure he has been to the temple. In my dream I saw Jarred MacArthur become our bishop. I believe a bishop should have a good character and a kind heart and Jarred has both of those.
Steve Allen would be one of his counselors and John Finnell the other.

I made Nutella bars for tonight's Bunco gathering. I doubled the recipe and put them in the frig so they would set up.

My friend Pam Giles bought me lunch today at Persnikkity's. I had the Sesame chicken salad. It was delicious! We had such a fun visit!

After lunch I had to go to the UPS store to return something James ordered. That's one of the reasons I like to order from Amazon, it is so easy to return things.

My next stop was Walmart. As I walked in the door I was heading to the restroom I saw Trenda (Wilhelm) Ellsworth with two of her preschool boys in the self-checkout aisle. I stopped to say hello and we got to talking. She was here getting stuff to make a birthday cake for her youngest son. I think his name is Elden and the older one with her is Emerson. She has one more and I think his name is Emmett. All of her kids names start with an E and sometimes I get confused. This younger, Elden, looks like he is probably turning 2 and the older one is probably 3 or 4.
She said Emerson was being potty trained and needed to go potty. I offered to watch Elden and her basket while she took Emerson to the bathroom. She took me up on the offer.
This little boy was so sweet. He never batted an eye about being left with a stranger. When Trenda came out she seemed so grateful that I was there to help her and she called me a tender mercy. We talked and she said she and her mom would love to come over some time for a visit. She thought her boys would love playing at my house. I told her we should definitely plan on it! I felt like Trenda was a tender mercy to me!

My shopping included these items: Nutella, canned green chilies, two loaves of Italian bread, garbage disposal cleaner, oranges, bananas, and an indoor extension cord.

When I got out to my car in the parking lot a man walked up to me and asked me if I could give him and his drunk girlfriend a ride to Goodwill. I told him I couldn't let him get into the car with me but my husband was coming and the two of us could take them to Goodwill. He said thank you and that he would be waiting at the bus stop nearby. James came because we are going to go look at refrigerators at Lowe's. He parked his truck and the two of us drove over to the bus stop to pick up this guy, his name is David Giles,(didn't I just have lunch with Pam Giles), and his drunk girlfriend, and boy was she drunk. He tried to help her get in to the car and she fell down. He had a hard time picking her up so James went out to help. They got her in to the car and we drove the mile or so to Goodwill. David thank us so many times. I like doing things for people who are grateful. He said he needed to go in to Goodwill to get some clothes for his girlfriend, he never did tell us her name, because she soiled herself. He said afterwards they would walk across the street to Denny's and get something to eat. When they got out of the car she just sat on the curb. I think he left her there while he went in to Goodwill. It is so sad to see people so drunk they can't even stand up. I hope David gets some help for her. We offered to take them home but he said no, they lived close by and could walk.

James and I went to Lowe's, picked out a refrigerator and James stayed there to make the deal while I went home. I stopped at Splash & Dash and got gas for $3.07 using my debit card. I loved looking at the clouds on the way home. I had to stop for construction and then made a stop at the post office. I got an Amazon package, Shapewear tummy control shorts, more commonly known as a girdle.

I put the groceries away, walked, and worked on my puzzle. James came home and said they were delivering the refrigerator on Saturday and that they would take the old one away. Oh Happy Day!

I cut the Nutella bars and headed to Tina Allen's this evening. The Hunsaker's are gone camping so I drove over by myself. These are the people who attended: Janna Grombach, Becky Skousen, Oksana, Lynda Finnell, Cheryl Sedig, Donna Beckham, Amy Reynolds, Lynn Wallace, Bertie who was subbing for Stefani, Tina, me and Maddie who is Lynn's sister. I got lots of comments about how good I look.

Up at 2:26. Happy Birthday Charlie!

James and I left for the valley at 7:15, going the Payson way, stopping there for a potty break. Our next stop was at AARA in Mesa where I have my infusions. I arrived at 10:45 for my 11:00 appointment.

Amanda, who administers the infusions, had a "high" ponytail. I commented on it and she said she was trying to imitate Sandy from "Grease." I told her she did a good job.

It seems like I just got settled in with my infusion and read two Liahona articles while watching J-Hud on the TV when my timer went off. That was a quick 30 minutes!

James was waiting for me outside. I told him I wanted to go to Costco next because I was hungry. So off we went.

We bought chocolate Fairlife shakes for me,James's Shamrock lactose free shakes, Italian bread, blackberries, and a brisket for Friday night when we feed the missionaries.  We had lunch at the food court. Each of us had a hotdog and a drink, and spent $3.00.
I had mine without the bun. Yummy!

Our next stop was at Chandler Eyecare. We brought Addy and Darrel's birthday gifts and told Addy to open hers, which she did.

A while back Addy did a pencil drawing of a duck for me. It faded away and I have been asking her to draw me a new one. She did and today she gave it to me.

Ducky the II

I gave Addy her dad's torch to give to him along with his birthday card. I gave Ben a hug and waved to Cayli who was on the phone at the front desk. Sheri was dressed up because she did an early morning temple session. She says the temple is the only place she feels peace.

Our next stop was at the carwash on Arizona Avenue just south of Germann. We were on our way to Stacy's to give her some Tramadol because she says she can't afford to go to the doctor to get a prescription. She wasn't home so James put the bag of pills under the doormat, which has flamingos on it, by the way. I wonder if Addy has seen it.

Next we turned south onto Arizona Avenue and went to the Lowe's about a mile or so from Stacy's house to look at refrigerators. We found a couple that will fit into our space.
.

It can't be any deeper than 30" so that
really cuts down the selections.

From Lowe's we headed over to the Deseret Book in Gilbert. I am getting a new temple dress and some garment tops because my old ones are way too big now.

I found a dress I like and tried it on. It is a little long but otherwise fits me perfectly. I got the dress, some shoes, a new bag, and two garment tops. James got some socks, a tie, and some garments.

Our last stop was at Sam's Club for James's Pom juice. He swears that it keeps his cancer from coming back. They don't have it anymore at Costco hence the stop at Sam's. We also got more shakes, green powder, James uses this when he doesn't get enough veggies, and cucumbers.

Our trip home went through Globe and Salt River Canyon. We got home around 6. I finished walking, listening to "The Priesthood Power of Women" by Barbara Morgan Gardner, and "Under the Scottish Sky."

Happy Birthday sweet Charlie!

3:44 Oops, I slept in. I hit the ground running. It's 6:53 and I've prayed, written in my general conference journal, read from the Book of Mormon, sent questions to REJ and wrote in the REJ journal, read from the D&C study guide, studied 'Come Follow Me' on my own, and made the bed and ate my breakfast.

The refrigerator/freezer is not working. I am convinced we are going to have to buy a new one.

After our devotional (Prayer, Book of Mormon, and 'Come Follow Me', James and I signed birthday cards for Addy and Darrel.)

I got 5,000 steps this morning before leaving for the temple. I called JoNell to tell her I was sending her information via email as she asked me to but she was not in and won't be until 11. I am leaving for the temple at 9:30. I spoke with Tommy Thompson, the attorney that JoNell works for. I told him I would call back around 3:00 or 3:30. After I hung up I decided I was going to go ahead and send all of the information right now before I leave for the temple, which I did.

I left for the temple at 9:30. James was already on his way to his MRI. He called and said to go down to 3144 and take the back roads until 3148 to avoid construction, which I did. It didn't help because the construction crew had already moved passed that point. I had to wait about 15 minutes which put me behind. I normally arrive at the temple 30 minutes before the session starts which give me plenty of time to get ready and get to the session a little early so I can sit and ponder or pray. Today I arrived at 10:45 for the 11 session. Locker 7 was empty so I grabbed it and changed into my white clothing.

I kept praying that I would make the session, and I did. I went through for Beatrice Florine Rutledge, one of Nannie's relatives.

After the session was over and I went back outside to the parking lot, I could see dark clouds and what looked like rain over Vernon. Pretty exciting! I looked at my phone and I had a response from JoNell:
"Everything looks perfect."

Before going home I went in to the Show Low UPS store to return a dress I bought on Amazon. I also did some shopping at Walmart where I saw Cheryl Sedig, Janna Grombach, and Lynda Price. Lynda and Cheryl were preparing for family reunions and Janna was going camping. This weekend is Labor Day. Lynda is planning on having 80 family members at their place and Cheryl is having 30. I am preparing to feed the missionaries on Friday and I thought that was stressful!

Before going home I stop at the Book Barn to get a copy of Brother Lund's book, "The Second Coming of Our Lord." I have his first edition but there is so much more in this one!

When I get home I see that our place and the surrounding area has been drenched. There are standing puddles of water everywhere. James went on and on about what an awesome rain it was, the best so far this year. I missed it but I wouldn't have missed going to the temple for it. James was supposed to go with me but he forgot and scheduled an MRI at the same time.

James is looking for new refrigerator's online. He says it will cost too much to fix the old one and we will have to buy used parts. I can see that he is right, we need a new one. He says the dryer works and I am grateful for that.

Kacey texted and said that Charlie got her gift a day early and couldn't resist opening it. I told her it was okay to open gifts on your birthday eve.

She loves it all and it excited to
have Halloween earrings!

This evening before going to bed I broke up a cat fight between Sammy and the Crane's cat, Blackie. James says Blackie may be in heat. Oh great. I'm telling Kathy, if Blackie has another litter of kittens that she brought it on herself.

Stacy needs Tramadol so I count out some to give her tomorrow. Evan answered the scripture questions. I get Addy and Darrel's gifts ready for delivery tomorrow. Read an article in the Liahona: "Preparing for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

I went to bed last night at 9 and this morning I was up at 2:40. That's about all of the sleep I need. During my prayers I realize how many names I have on the Snowflake temple prayer roll. Kate Hahn is one of them. She has had cancer for many years. Now she has kidney disease and is struggling. She is at the Mayo Clinic and is running a fever. That can't seem to get it to come down. She is miserable and wants to come home. I told her that when she comes home I am going to fix her some homemade chicken noodle soup.

My schedule in the morning is all about studying the gospel and working on my blog, or personal history. I do have a temporal goal today and that is to get the information I need for JoNell at Thompson, Montgomery, DeRose law firm regarding the Agent Orange lawsuit regarding James's cancer. What I need is James's report cards from when he lived in New Mexico and his pathology reports concerning his cancer. Dr. Redimasu's office sent four pathology reports and James found the report cards we needed in a box upstairs in my office. This could have taken hours but only took a few minutes. I believe that was a tender mercy. I will have James sign the papers JoNell sent and have everything ready to sent before I go to the temple tomorrow.

We had a glorious downpour of rain today and it was wonderful and so refreshing! The only sad thing that happened today was our dryer didn't get our clothes dry so I had to hang them around the house to get them dry.

I am looking forward to tomorrow. I am taking Catherine and Kerri Halcomb to Woodland Lake to take pictures on the covered walking bridge.

I enjoyed reading from these books today:
"Beloved Emma", and "Men are from Mars, Women and from Venus".

D&C 93:1
Verily, thus saith the Lord: it shall come to pass that every soul who forsaketh his sins and cometh unto me, and calleth on my name, and obeyeth my voice, and keepeth my commandments, shall see my face and know that I am;
