O Lord, we delight not in the destruction of our fellow men; their souls are precious before thee;

The bird that got in this house last night made his way into James's office upstairs. James opened up the sliding glass door to let him out but he kept missing and hitting the window up above. He finally found his way out. Poor thing.

Sheri texted today and said she is ready to come home. She also wanted to know about James's surgery.

James and I signed birthday cards for Jared Ammon and Palmer this morning. I gave Jared's to Stacy to take home with her and mailed Palmer's in Show Low after dropping James off for his surgery.

James is not feeling well this morning. His thumb is really hurting him. I'm glad he's having this surgery today. The surgery is scheduled for 1:30 but James is supposed to be there at 11:30. We left a little before 11 but James noticed the fence was down which is the reason the horses have been getting out and he stopped to fix it. Stacy came out to say goodbye so we left a little after 11. James was stressed because we were going to be late and I told him it was okay because we are scheduled to be there two hours early.

I did get to give Joshua a hug before leaving and asked him to please take a selfie with his parents and the dogs before they leave for home. He promised that he would.

I dropped James off at the Summit Outpatient surgery center next to the hospital while I went to do some errands. I mailed Palmer's card, got some lunch at Taco Bell and water and gum at Walmart.

They were prepping James when I got back to the surgery center. I waited in the waiting room for awhile until someone came and told me I could come back and see him before his surgery. James said he had never been scrubbed so clean before a surgery. The attending nurse came in and washed his hand with disinfectant and he said they had done much more before I got there.  Dr. Ellsworth, the anesthesiologist, and a nurse assisting in the surgery came in to speak with him. Dr. Ellsworth drew an x on his right thumb so he would know he got the right one when he was in the operating room. Soon it was time for him to go back so we said our goodbyes and I went back to the waiting room.

It was about two hours when someone came to tell me he was waking up in recovery and I could come back. James was pretty groggy and his hand was sitting inside of a huge spongy yellow block that resembled a big piece of cheese. They were using it to stabilize his hand. After I helped him get dress and as we were getting ready to leave the nurse asked if he wanted to take it with him. I said yes, but James said absolutely not. He didn't like it and didn't think he needed it. Later after we got home I think he regretted his decision. Before leaving the pharmacy gave him a prescription for Hydrocodone.

We went across the street to Walmart. James wanted some Ben & Jerry's fudge brownie ice cream. I bought a pint and a pint of Cherry Garcia. James ate the entire pint of fudge brownie. It was non-dairy so it didn't cause him to be plugged up, and he loved it.

We also went through Culver's drive-thru at his request and he got his favorite sandwich, a cod fillet. I got a butter burger single.

Tom was gone when we got home. Stacy and Paul were gone too. They left for home around 4. Tom was outside when they left and when we left. We both called and called for him but he never came home until it was bedtime. I scolded him and told him he should have come the first time we called. He acted like it was no big deal.

James did a lot of walking outside on the deck and then he complained about how much his thumb hurt. I think he is overdoing. He should be sitting with his hand propped up on a spongy thing that looks like a piece of cheese watching a Hallmark mystery.

I got up around 7. That's what I call sleeping in. I went in to take a shower and noticed the bathtub was dirty. I decided to clean it before I got into the shower. The drain was not working. I called James in for help and he cleaned out the drain and wiped out the bottom of the tub. Thanks Honey.

As part of our scripture study we watched one of the new Book of Mormon videos, the conversion of King Lamoni and the story of Abish. I really enjoyed it.

Stacy doesn't come up from downstairs until around 11. When she came up she worked on the puzzle Charlie sent me. She won't be able to finish before she goes home and that's when I will take over. She does it row by row which I don't do so we can't really work together. We also finished our episode of Hailey Dean.

Joshua helped James strip forms at the Hipps's and met the Hipps's grandson Atticus. Atticus lives in Eastmark and he knows Rowan. He just got his mission call to Brazil. His dad is from Brazil which is so great.

James said Joshua is a good worker and asked me to pay him $40, which I did. At first he wasn't going to take it but it didn't take too much to convince him that he should.

Stacy, Paul, and Joshua took a blanket and some folding chairs this evening and went to the Freedom Festival Fireworks in Show Low. They left around six. The dogs stayed here because they are scared to death of fireworks. At one point Shipley got in to our bedroom while Tom was here and they looked at each other, nose to nose, but nothing happened. It was funny. I wish I would have taken a picture but it was over with very quickly.

Stacy said the fireworks show was 30 minutes of constant fireworks like a finale. She said the only one she has ever seen that was better was when we went to San Diego and watched them over the ocean.

They got home after we were in bed. Stacy said there was a bird in the house. He was in the garage earlier and someone left the door from the kitchen to the garage open for awhile and that's probably when he got in. Maybe he will make friends with the bat.

I like the guest on "Follow Him." His name is Dr. Brian Mead. He loves the story of Abish. I was thinking how the king offered Ammon one of his daughters to wife. I thought maybe Ammon should marry Abish since she already had a testimony.

Happy 10th Birthday Lola!
