King Benjamin's prophetic words are applicable to us in our day. He knew from his own experience the terrors of war. He had defended his people in combat, relying on the power of God. He saw clearly the terrible powers of Lucifer to tempt, to try to overcome, and to discourage God's children.
He invited his people and us to build on the only sure rock of safety, who is the Savior. He made clear that we are free to choose between right and wrong and that we cannot avoid the consequences of our choices. He spoke directly and sharply because he knew what sorrow would come to those who might not hear and heed his warnings.

James left for Globe again this morning after our family prayer. It is critical for me to pray for his safety so I can put my trust in the Lord with confidence that He will take care of him. James took Deven Crane with him to Globe to work. Deven is one of the priests in our ward and he was excited when James told him he earned $110 today.

I finished reviewing a batch of new Jersey birth records, 71 entries and then started another one. It feels good to be back to indexing.

I read an article this morning on Meridian Magazine by Sarah Heinze. "On Friday, June 24th, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the nearly fifty-year-old decision of Roe V. Wade, thereby sending decisions on abortion restrictions back to the states. It is being called the most monumental judicial event of our time." (In Remembrance of the Unborn, Sarah Heinze 7/5/22).

The following is for my grandchildren who feel that the overturning of Roe vs. Wade is an injustice perpetrated against women.

"Who we are is a soul, and the soul has knowledge, and wisdom, and can communicate. It has a life of its own. You can't kill it by having an abortion. You can make a course change, or postpone its coming, but basically, its operating in a spiritual dimension..., and in that dimension (before birth), it is no surprise that a soul can think and plan and even have a purpose for being with a certain mother or a certain family.

Brent and Sarah Hinze have written a couple of books:

"The Castaways: New Evidence Supporting the
Rights of the Unborn Child"

I went shopping this afternoon in Show Low, leaving the house around 1:30 and returning around 4, which seems like record time for me. Normally it takes me at least 3 hours. My first stop was Sonic for a Happy Hour 1/2 price drink then on to the Show Low post office to mail Jared Ammon's birthday card. I took the "shortcut" to Walmart but before going to Walmart I stopped at the Circle K across the street to fill up with gas.

My friend, Tamara, said they fed the missionaries ribeye steak then on Facebook Sherry Cosper said she and her kids had steak, corn on the cob, baked potato, and baked beans for the 4th of July. Now I want that meal! I found the ribeye steaks but I couldn't find any corn on the cob. I guess the 4th of July crowd wiped it out. I remembered I had a bag of corn in the freezer and could use that. I got everything I needed to make The Pioneer Woman baked beans, and got a bag of potatoes to make baked potatoes. James is supposed to get a watermelon on the way home. Watermelon sounds like the perfect dessert for this meal. I also got some croissants because James likes them better than rolls.

Before leaving the Walmart parking lot I stopped at Panda and got a couple of chow mein bowls with Bejing beef for dinner. I got home around 4 and James got home around 5. We actually ate dinner together and we both had leftovers for tomorrow.

I stopped at the post office in Vernon on the way home. I have a package from a Lambson with $2.94 due so I went back to the car to get my purse to pay for it. It was a card kit from Dawn. She is inviting me to join her, Lois, Laura, Cathi, Rebecca, Connie, and Carmen via Zoom on Friday to work on cards and visit. This is the second kit she has sent. On my way out of the post office I spoke with my friends Shelly and Tamara Applegate. Shelly is a former young woman of mine who has come home to live for awhile. She just got her hair cut and it looked so cute I had to comment on it. She said she's getting ready to be a bridesmaid on Saturday for our mutual friend Shaelyn Smith who is getting married. Tamara talked to me a little about the recent ministering changes we made and said she was going to try to finalize them with the bishop tonight.

Stacy called to tell me that her car broke down on her today. This is not good because she has been delivering meals for Grub Hub to help make their rent since Jared Ammon and Michael have both moved out. She now can't make deliveries and doesn't have the money to get her car fixed. It's a double whammy. If I lived closer she could borrow my car. She called Kim to see if she could use her car only to find out that Joe drives it now.

This evening I walked and blogged while James indexed and then he came in and walked with me while we listened to our new book, "Games in a Ballroom."

Jesus Christ, Second Coming
Revelations 1:7
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Book of Mormon
Alma 27:16-28:8
22 And it came to pass that the voice of the people came, saying: Behold, we will give up the land of Jershon, which is on the east by the sea, which joins the land Bountiful, which is on the south of the land Bountiful; and this land Jershon is the land which we will give unto our brethren for an inheritance.

"A Mighty Change Of Heart:
I Have Nothing More To Give You"
Elder Eduardo Gavarret
Of the Seventy
How do we obtain that mighty change of heart? It is initiated and eventually occurs
1. when we study the scriptures to obtain the knowledge
that will strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ, which will
create a desire to change;
2. when we cultivate that desire through prayer and fasting;
3. when we act, according to the word studied or received,
and we make a covenant to surrender our hearts to Him,
just as with King Benjamin's people.

"Ladder Of Faith"
Elder Larry S. Kacher
Of the Seventy
As we move toward true faith in Jesus Christ, our mindset begins to change. We recognize that obedience and faith in the Savior qualify us to have His Spirit always to be with us. Obedience is no longer an irritant but becomes a quest. We recognize that obedience to God's commands enables us to be trusted of Him. With His trust comes increased light. This light guides our journey and allows us to see more clearly the path we should take.

James left for Globe again this morning. He has got some drywall work to do before the guys put the tile down on Thursday. Armando and two helpers will be coming to Globe to do that.

I puttered around this morning. One of the things I did was find a name to take to the temple on the Take a Name app. I think this is one of Nannie's relatives, Ritta C. Mae Kinsauls. I left the house at 9:30 to pick up my friend Catherine Halcomb. Catherine is 88 years old and her daughter, Kerri, who she lives with, won't let her drive except to the post office and back.

Thank goodness the road construction that is supposed to last until December hasn't started yet. It was windy when we got to the temple and I dropped Catherine off at the door while I went to find a place to park. I always park on the side which faces towards Vernon and the mountains.

When we got off the elevator on the second floor of the temple I saw Pierce sitting in one of the chairs and studying one of the manuals. He did not see us and I didn't want to disturb his studies so I didn't say anything to him. After we were in the endowment room I saw him go by in the hall towards the veil to be a receiver.

Catherine struggled a little with her new robe and walked a little wobbly because her left leg is bothering her. I think she pulled a muscle. We didn't stay long in the celestial room. Back in the locker room I had gone on the second row of lockers in locker #10 because I thought it would be less busy. Boy was I wrong. I had to wait about 10 minutes for the sister ahead of me and there was a sister waiting behind me. No more locker #10.

Catherine had a letter from her bank, Wells Fargo. She said she wanted to make sure it wasn't bogus so she asked if we could stop at the branch in Snowflake since there isn't one in Show Low. While Catherine was in the bank I went down the street to McDonald's and got an ice cream. It hit the spot. Catherine found out that the letter was not a fraud and she got a $50 refund for overpaying something.

On the way out of town we stopped at the Sonic in Taylor. Catherine loves Sonic and always reminds me that it was founded in Oklahoma where she is from. She bought me lunch. I had a corndog and a large diet coke. Catherine had an American dog with tater tots and a diet coke. She shared her tater tots with me. The total cost of both lunches was $12.

After dropping Catherine off at home I went to the post office to see if we got our monthly check from the Quintana's. Not today.

It was overcast most of the day and we did get some rain this evening, but not a whole lot. There was lots of lightning and thunder though.

When James got home he was tired and a little grumpy and was covered in drywall dust. The first thing he wanted to do was take a shower. I had called him earlier and ask him to bring me a couple of shredded beef tacos from Aliberto's, which he did. He didn't get himself anything because he said he wasn't hungry when he got them, but he was hungry now so I gave him one of my tacos. Next time I'm going to order four and give him two.

James indexes while I walk and work in the bedroom. When he is finished indexing he comes in and we start our new book, "Games in a Ballroom" by Jentry Flint.

Stacy said she was watching "Blue Hawaii" on Prime Video. I could watch it too, but didn't. I went to just about every Elvis movie ever made. Nannie loved Elvis and I remember taking her to see "Blue Hawaii" at the Show Low theater when I was in high school. I was the only one there with there gramma, but I loved that she loved Elvis like I did.

Jesus Christ, Second Coming

Alma 27:1-15
...the Lord said unto him:
12 Get this people out of this land, that they perish not; for Satan has great hold on the hearts of the Amalekites, who do stir up the Lamanites to anger against their brethren to slay them; therefore get thee out of this land; and blessed are this people in this generation, for I will preserve them.

"Following Jesus: Being A Peacemaker"
Elder Neil L. Andersen
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
What gives us the inner strength to cool, calm, and quench the fiery darts aimed toward the truths we love? The strength comes from our faith in Jesus Christ and our faith in HIs words.
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, . . . and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
"... For great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

James and Owen Peeler left for Globe around 6 a.m. Their goal is to get rid of the popcorn ceilings in the Peeler's home in Globe.
It went faster than they predicted and James was home by 3 p.m. I guess they were using spray bottle and it was going to slow so James brought in the hose and it went much faster. Keep in mind that their is no flooring on the floor, only concrete.

We had a steady rainstorm most of the afternoon and evening. It was great and we ended up with a gorgeous rainbow!

It was actually a double rainbow

Sheri and the boys arrived home to the Phoenix airport at 11:30 last night after 30 hours of traveling. Sheri texted me today and I asked her why she wasn't sleeping. She said she had too much to do after being gone for two weeks.

I pointed out to James how we were beginning to look like a junk yard with stuff behind the shed, the old wood piles, and stuff on the other side of the well house. He said he would take care of it.

I indexed today because I am finally all caught up on my blog. My friend Maxine does family history work all day long, everyday and then on Tuesday she goes and does an endowment session and then does sealings afterwards with her husband Gary and their friend Barbara and Fred Klug. She said to me the other night at presidency meeting, "Yeah, but that's all I do." I said, "What could you do that would be more important?"

I loved seeing Kacey and Autumn's photos from their 4th of July celebration especially since we didn't do anything. We watched a movie tonight. I had taped some movies from the Turner Classic Movies channel and this was a John Wayne movie so I thought James might enjoy it. The movie's title: "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon." It was filmed here in Arizona in Monument Valley and at the Vermillion Cliffs which you could see in the background. Too much shooting for me but I think James enjoyed it.
