Jesus Christ, Second Coming
1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Book of Mormon
Alma 24:19-30
26 And it came to pass that the people of God were joined that day by more than the number who had been slain; and those who had been slain were righteous people, therefore we have no reason to doubt but what they were saved.
"Come Follow Me"
1 Kings 19:1-18 The Lord often speaks in quiet, simple ways. 1 Kings 18:23-48

"Our Heartfelt All"
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
"Many that were rich cast in much," but then, along came a poor widow, "and she threw in two mites." It was such a small amout, it would hardly be worth recording.
And yet this seemingly inconsequential donation caught the Savior's attention. In fact, it impressed Him so deeply that "he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
"For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living."
With this simple observation, the Savior taught us how offerings are measured in His kingdom - and it's quite different from the way we usually measure things. To the Lord, the value of the donation was measured not by the effect it had on the treasury but by the effect it had on the heart of the donor.
In praising this faithful widow, the Savior gave us a standard to measure our discipleship in all of its many expressions. Jesus taught that our offering may be large or it may be small, but either way, it must be our heartfelt all.

"Now Is the Time"
President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Yes, we should learn from the past, and yes, we should prepare for the future. But only now can we do. Now is the time we can learn. Now is the time we can repent. Now is the time we can bless others and "lift up the hands which hang down." As Mormon counseled his son Moroni, "Let us labor diligently; ... for we have a labor to perform while in this tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God."

James is working here today. Yay! He went to the Thompson's this morning. At 10:00 I had a visit from my ministering sisters, Donna Peeler and Stefani Hunsaker. They stayed for about an hour and we had a nice visit. Stefani made me some of the most delicious peanut butter cookies I have ever eaten. When James got home he loved them too.

We had a nice rainstorm today. Rain always makes everything smell so fresh and clean! I took a nap after lunch and so did James. I listened to "Teaching with Power" as part of my "Come Follow Me" study. Brother Wilcox asked this question as he discussed the leaders of both Israel and Judah. There are two styles of leadership. What kind of leader am I?

This afternoon James went to the Thompson's were he is trying to lay out the pad for their modular home. He also went to Barbar Bartels. She bought a modular home from the same place the Thompson's did. It's for her son and his family and she wants James to do the pad. James also stopped by the Peeler's and picked up a check.

Paul texted and said that Dena Davis had passed away. Dena is CT Davis's daughter who was a little older than Stacy, 53. She had pneumonia, heart problems, and cancer. CT posted about her on Facebook:

I taught Dena's sister Melonie
in Young Women's.

When James came home I had already put the enchiladas together and they were in the oven. I was in the bedroom. After a few minutes he asked me what time it was. 5:30, Yikes! The missionaries will be here at 6. I got into gear and got myself ready and then both James and I went into the kitchen to get the last minute details for our dinner ready. James set the table and got some ice water. I cooked refried beans and corn and got out some chips and salsa.

Elder Goodwin and Elder McPhie were right on time. They were dressed casually because they had been over to Brother and Sister Gilbert's doing service. James gave the blessing and we served ourselves and sat down for dinner. Brother Goodwin put his enchiladas inside of a flour tortilla. James was concerned because he thought it wasn't taste too good that way. He also added some corn chips. I said it was like a crunch wrap at Taco Bell. Both missionaries seemed to like the dinner. Elder McPhie is a football player and he had seconds. For dessert we had rootbeer floats and I gave each of them a couple of peanut butter cookies to eat on the way home. They asked if we knew anyone they could share a message with. I invited Tana to dinner but of course she was a no-show. I suggested they go by the MacArthur's and told them a little bit about Chelsea and Jarrod. Jarrod is still in Alaska but Chelsea should be home with the three kids.

I did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen while James indexed. At 8 pm I only had 3,500 steps but before bed I had 10,000.

Jesus Christ, Second Coming
1Corinthians 15:23
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
Book of Mormon
Alma 24:7-18
10 And I also thank my God, yea, my great God, that he hath granted unto us that we might repent of these things, and also that he hath forgiven us of those our many sins and murders which we have committed, and taken away the guilt from our hearts, through the merits of his Son.

"Come into the Fold of God"
Elder Randy D. Funk
Of the Seventy
Alma's baptismal covenant invitation to those gathered at the Waters of Mormon begins with this phrase: "Now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God."
A fold, or sheepfold, is a large enclosure, often constructed with stone walls, where the sheep are protected at night. It has only one opening. At the end of the day, the shepherd calls the sheep. They know his voice, and through the gate they enter the safety of the fold.

Prayer before James leaves at 5:30 for Globe. I paid both credit cards this morning, grateful that I had the means to do so. Also listened to Camille Fronk Olson on "Come Follow Me" with Hank and John.

I have decided to make an enchilada casserole for the missionaries tomorrow night. I went to town to get the things I would need at Walmart. I took an umbrella in with me because it looked like rain. There were a few drops but nothing else.

On the way home I listened to "Before the Fortress Falls." When I got home I made myself a cheese crisp and a caesar salad.

James got home from Globe and wants to walk and read.
Kacey texted and wants me to put Tanner's name on our temple prayer roll, which I did. I blogged and walked until it was time for our RS presidency meeting at the church at 5:30. We met in the RS room and we were the only ones in the building. It was Tamara, Kerri, Maxine, and I. We worked on making new ministering assignments which included the new sisters in our ward. Kerri recorded the changes we made on her computer but instead of putting them in proposed changes she put them in new assignments. We are supposed to get the bishop's approval before we make the assignments. We laughed about it. We laugh alot, which is refreshing.

Maxine told me that Wendy DeWitt had three handouts and I could ask her to send them to me via email. I intend to do just that. Why didn't Collin tell James about these? When James asked him for information about the fair Collin just said his favorite thing was Judy Hunter's habernero peach jam. Also, Pierce handed out flash drives with lots of preparedness information on them.

Kerri had to leave for another meeting at 7. After she left Tamara and Maxine and I stay and visited for awhile. I got home a little before 8.

In Awe of Christ and His Gospel"
Elder Ulisses Soares
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
My brothers and sisters, when we truly are in awe of Jesus Christ and His gospel, we are happier, we have more enthusiasm for God's work, and we recognize the Lord's hand in all things. Additionally, our study of God's words is more meaningful; our prayers, more intentional; our worship, more reverent; our service in God's kingdom, more diligent. All these actions contribute to the Holy Spirit's influence being more frequent in our lives. Thus, our testimony of the Savior and His gospel will be strengthened, we will keep Christ alive in us, and we will live our lives "rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, . . . abounding therein with thanksgiving." When we live in this way, we become more spiritually resilient and protected against falling into the trap of spiritual apathy.
I woke up in the middle of the night freezing and had to get up and turn the fan off. What?? That never happens!

James and I had scriptures and prayers together this morning. I indexes and I frost two cherry chip cakes, one for Pam Wood and one for Sue Hubble. James and I delivered them along with gifts and cards.

After making the cake deliveries we drove into town. We were both hungry and James said he didn't enjoy his lunch yesterday and would like to go to LaCasita, which we did. It was packed and we had to stand in the middle of the entry and wait to be seated. Standing next to us were Ashley Umphress, her husband Aaron and two of their kids, Gracie and Cooper. I told Gracie congratulations for her homerun in softball which I had seen on Facebook. I talked to Aaron about his mom attending Relief Society. I asked Ashley when Chelsea was coming home and she said she was coming home today but her flight got cancelled. I asked Cooper how old he was going to be on his birthday. He's going to be seven. I told him my birthday was the same day as his. I really like the Umphress family. I found out that Gracie also plays volleyball and she participates in rodeos.

I had a green chili Navajo taco which was quite delicious. James had his favorite, a green chili burro.

After lunch I went to Walmart and James went to Home Depot. I picked up my folic acid at the prescription counter and then did a little shopping. I picked up some birthday cards, lotion and body wash to use as gifts, and some cash for Max, Lola, and Jared Ammon whose birthdays are coming up this next week. I also got James some pomegranate juice.

On the way home James and I listened to "Yorkshire Carol." When we got home we rested for awhile and then James went to get his trailer at Owen Taylor's. When he gets back he loads the Cat on the trailer and takes it to the Thompson's. I stay home to walk and blog.

Stacy called me. Paul has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. He is in a lot of pain and his doctor is going to refer him to a rheumatologist. We talk for awhile. She says she has been sick and may have Covid and was concerned because she gave me a hug yesterday. Oh well, if I get it, I get it. Also Stacy said she and Joshua are making macarons today at Joshua's request.

I started a new book today called "Before the Fortress Falls" which is set in 1683 in Vienna, Austria. Vienna is at war with the Turks. I'm not sure if I'm going to like it. If there is too much fighting I probably won't finish it.

James got a text from Pam thanking us for the cake and the gifts.
