Jesus Christ, Relationships with the Father
3 Nephi 11:32
And this is my doctrine, and it is the doctrine which the Father hath given unto me; and I bear record of the Father, and the Father beareth record of me, and the Holy Ghost beareth record of the Father and me; and I bear record that the Father commandeth all men, everywhere, to repent and believe in me.

"To Be A Follower Of Christ"
Elder Alfred Kyungu
Of the Seventy
The first quality of the Savior is humility. Jesus Christ was very humble from the premortal life. At the Council in Heaven, He recognized and allowed the will of God to prevail in the plan of salvation for mankind. He said, "Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever" (Moses 4:2)

"Hold Up Your Light"
Elder Marcus B. Nash
Of the Seventy
Your and I know that we lived as children of our Heavenly Father before coming to this earth and that the earth was created for the purpose of giving each person the opportunity to obtain a body, gain experience, learn, and grow in order to receive eternal life - which is God's life.

"Come Unto Christ and Don't Come Alone"
Sister Bonnie Cordon

Today we got the opportunity to listen to Jared give a talk in his ward. Kacey was kind enough to text us the Zoom connection. It was such a great talk! Jared sent me a copy. I think Sheri listened too. He talked about the Family Proclamation and the promises concerning keeping our covenants. These covenants and promises were especially meaningful to him after his divorce.

After listening to Jared's talk we got ready and drove over to Kim and Brian's ward which started at 10:30. We got there before Kim and Brian did and the bishop's wife, Kim Harris Tarwater, came over to speak to us. She said: "You are the Lambson's. I love your daughter." She talked to us until it was time for the meeting to start. She and her husband bought property in Vernon and will be moving up here eventually. They are friends with Dave and Tammy Montgomery. When Kim and Brian came in we went to the back and sat with them. Brian brought me in a cushioned chair from the Relief Society room.

Kim and Brian belong to the McQueen 1st ward. Today was the Christmas program. The Primary children sang "When We Seek Him." Someone named Danielle Hale who Kim says is a professional singer, sang "Jesus Lord at Thy Birth." The congregation then sang "O Little Town of Bethlehem." The next performance was a double quartet, 4 men and 4 women, singing "All for the King of Kings, I Wonder as I Wander." (Not sure what the title was). The last musical performance was a cello solo. This guy was very good and Kim says he plays in an orchestra. James enjoyed watching his facial expressions while he played.

Bishop Tarwater spoke at the end of the meeting. He told about growing up on a diary and how he developed faith in Jesus Christ through prayer. He went on a mission. He learned how to pray, and how to listen to the Spirit. He prayed to know if he should marry his wife. He proposed to her at the Mesa temple because it was a significant place for both of them. He shared how he felt about his family. He said, "Come unto Christ, but don't come alone." ( Sis. Cordon's conference talk).

The reason that we wanted to attend Kim's ward is because she is teaching gospel doctrine today. She did an excellent job! Here are some notes that I took:
"The family proclamation is the Lord's reemphasis of the gospel truths we need to sustain us through current challenges to the family." Dallin H. Oaks
The apostle James taught that friendship of the world is enmity with God. ((James 4:4). Those opposing the wisdom of the world: Paul (1 Cor. 3:19) and (Colo. 2:8).
President Monson: "We must reject anything that does not conform to our standards, Eternal Life in the kingdom of God."
President Nelson: "Salvation is an individual matter, but exaltation is a family matter."
We grow spiritually by choosing to obey God's commandments in a succession of right choices.
The gospel plan each family should follow to prepare for eternal life and exaltation is outlined in the Church's 1995 family proclamation.
We are different from the world. Here are where our differences are most evident.
World:
Cohabitation w/o marriage
Same sex marriage
We are all children of our Heavenly Father. We need to feel His love to remember that we all agreed to His plan in the premortal life.
God wants all of His children to be exalted.
His gospel is a gospel of Redemption.

When we got back to Darrel & Trina's Trina and the girls were all ready for church. Darrel is at work and Rowan is already at the church. I took a picture of the three girls. I wish I had included Trina so I tried to take one of her too.

Smart, kind, and beautiful.

James and I grabbed a bite to eat and then got ready to go home. We got all the way passed Payson and were starting up the rim when Trina called and said we left several things on the front porch. I remembered telling James I was putting my computer and a bag on the porch for him to get and he said he would, but evidently he forgot. My computer, a calendar, and the poster of Addy. James said we would get it when we come back next week but I insisted that I needed my computer. I'm already behind on my blog and I can't afford to go a week without making a post. Trina offered to come to Payson. We immediately turned around and started back towards Payson. We didn't want Trina to have to come all the way to Payson. We ended up meeting her in Sunflower, using mileposts to tell her when to get off the highway.

Trina was so kind to do this for us. When we remember Jared's talk, and Kim's lesson on this Sabbath day, we will also remember Trina's willingness to serve us. Thank you Trina.

As soon as we got home James went out immediately to feed Luna. He came back in and said Luna had been in the back yard. Where there is a will, there is a way, and she definitely has the will.

After putting everything away I sat down to watch, "When Hope Calls" the Christmas special. I loved it and loved seeing Lori Loughlin. Abigail Stanton was always my favorite character on "When Calls the Heart."

Happy Birthday Michael!

Last year's photo. This year Michael got a
haircut and a shave.

Jesus Christ, Relationships with the Father
3 Nephi 9:15
Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and in me hath the Father glorified his name.

"Deepening Our Conversion To Jesus Christ"
Elder Arnulfo Valenzuela
Of the Seventy
It seems to me that Nephi was a student dedicated to the scriptures. We read that Nephi delighted in the scriptures, pondered them in his heart, and wrote them for the learning and profit of his children (see 2 Nephi 4:15-16).
President Nelson said:
"If we 'press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, . . . we shall have eternal life' (2 Nephi 31:20).
"To feast means more than to taste. To feast means to savor. We savor the scriptures by studying them in a spirit of delightful discovery and faithful obedience. When we feast upon the words of Christ, they are embedded 'in fleshy tables of the heart' (2 Corinthians 3:3). They become an integral part of our nature" ("Living by Scriptural Guidance," Ensign, Nov. 2000, 17).

"Worthiness Is Not Flawlessness"
Bradley R. Wilcox
Second Counselor in the Young Men Presidency
Some mistakenly receive the message that they are not worthy to participate fully in the gospel because they are not completely free of bad habits. God's message is that worthiness is not flawlessness.

"Our Small Gift Made a Big Difference"

I read Brother Corbitt's essays number 3 and 4. I especially enjoyed number 3 which was about the Book of Mormon and how it is the least racist book ever written. I also read of "The Holy Covenants" about the law of consecration. I am trying to learn the difference between sacrifice and consecration.  Here are some notes from Brother Sweat's book:
*The law of consecration is the pinnacle covenant of the endowment ceremony, and a key to living after the holy order of the Son of God.
To be clear, the law of consecration is fully in force, and is kept and practiced by countless covenant keeping Latter-day Saints today. We are not, collectively, living a lower version of it, nor are we waiting for some prophetic announcement nor Jesus to usher in the Millennium to restart it. The law of consecration is "a covenant and a deed which cannot be broken" (D&C 42:30). It is a celestial law. It may be the celestial law. Indeed, consecration is the very essence of complete dedication that defines those who will be exalted in the kingdom of God. To think that we don't live the law of consecration today because we don't meet with the bishop to hand over all our property is like thinking we don't live the law of sacrifice because we don't meet with a priest to hand over a lamb.
I am loving this book, but that is enough for today.

As I was putting bows on Darrel's families gifts I was watching the remake of the movie "Sabrina" which was made in the 90's starring Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford. I'm afraid it slowed me down and we left at 1 instead of 11:30. As we approach Heber I realize I didn't turn the lights off on the Christmas tree. I remember seeing that they were on and thinking that James would turn them off when he locked the doors. I asked him and no he did not turn them off.

We thought about it for awhile. We did not want to go back so James called our neighbor Chuck and had him go over and check to see if the lights were on. He said they were. James told him where the spare keys were and Chuck went in and turned the tree lights off. He also brought in a huge box that was on the front porch. The box contained two new tires for the Razr.

We stopped at Culver's in Payson for something to eat. James ordered two shrimp baskets and a custard mixer and the total was $37. James knew it wasn't right but the girl insisted it was and she called the manager over and she insisted it was right. James pointed out that we did not get shrimp meals which includes two sides, but shrimp baskets. They ended up giving him back about $11. Culver's is very expensive but the shrimp was nice and crispy and delicious.

When we got to the valley we stopped at Deseret Book where I bought some more calendars, we then went next door to Costco where we got some cheese, crackers, and wrapping paper. They had no more ribbon. When we got to Darrel and Trina's and unloaded, James took Rowan with him to pick oranges at the Burnham's.

Max got home from the hospital today. Adam went to pick him up and brought him home. We are so glad he will be able to join us at our family party tonight.

Trina went to pick up Chik-fil-a for the party. Sheri brought crab cakes and cookies, Stacy made chicken strips and lemon squares. Kim and Brian brought Someburros. Among all of the sweets I think the Tuxedo cake was my favorite.

Kaitlin was one of the first to arrive. Adam told her not to be late and then he and Michael were the ones that came in late.

Conversations in the kitchen

James telling Paul about his summer sausage

Brought by Alex, opened by Ben, and
taken home by Addy for Kylie's birthday

Alex went home with a ball massager to
use on your neck. I could use one of those
right about now.

Ben got a pizza and he ate it in front of everyone.

Joshua says he's keeping these candles

Not sure what a cube of ping pong
balls is for, I guess it's some kind of game.

Stacy likes Joshua's teapot

Stacy: "Oh, you are giving that to me."

I'm not sure what this is but Ruby ended
up with the sloth foot massager

Lola loved the kitty neck massager
she opened and kept.

Kim got a puzzle and Hello Kitty pasta

Sheri got a nice drinking cup, just like Trina's.
Sheri also took home the doggie cookie jar
for Ian

James got See's candy, dark chocolate

Trina was the cleanup crew

Trina got an action figure and a candle

Evan got a shirt saying Vaccinated.
He also got a toiler timer and a roll of toilet paper.

Max ended up with the ping pong ball cube

Ruby with the sloth foot massager

Rowan looking quizzical

This is the package Kaitlyn brought and we all
know what she ended up with last year

Brian's takeaways from the party

Evan opening his toilet paper

Rowan immediately went and hung this
poster in his room. Trina thought this was
a little weird but he said he didn't want
to lose it.

I got a nice set of Sharpie markers and a poster of Addy, just what I wanted!
Darrel got the "Lead Kindly Light" calendar.
Paul or Adam ended up with the Jersey Mike's gift card and the Mandalorian deck of cards. Kaitlyn took two water bottles that came with the Addy poster but I wouldn't let her take the poster.
I'm not sure what Michael took home.

After the party was over and everyone was gone home, Darrel turned on "Christmas with the Kranks. I sat by Trina and Lola. Lola fell asleep but Trina and I endure to the end.
