Restoration Proclamation
#7
Two hundred years have now elapsed since this Restoration was initiated by God the Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Millions throughout the world have embraced a knowledge of these prophesied events.

Inklings
The attributes of Christ were just as much a part of His ministry as the miracles.

Up at 4:11. James "sleeps in" until 6. He leaves around 7 or a little before. By 7:50 I am super tired. Instead of "napping" I keep walking and working knowing I only have until noon before we will be leaving for the valley.  We are going to the Mesa Temple Open House with Sheri's family and are supposed to meet them at the temple at 4.

After finishing gospel study and my blog I went in the family room to walk. While walking I watched the newest 2021 episode of "The Great British Baking Show." This is the fifth episode and Freya, the nineteen year old vegan, went home.

When James got home from his radiation treatment he fixed himself some breakfast. He found the jar of green pimentoed olives I got for him the last time I went to Costco. He made himself an omelet with green olives. He said it was delicious, but it didn't look or sound delicious to me. After breakfast he took off in his truck with Pierce's dump trailer behind him. He got back in time to get ready for our trip. I was worried he wouldn't.

We left right at noon and made our first stop in Payson at Culver's. We were both hungry. I had a butter burger with fries and James had fried shrimp. I saved some of my burger for James in exchange for one shrimp. I only ate about half of my fries.

We met Sheri and company on Main and Lesueur and walked together to the temple. We thought we had to have tickets but no one asked for any. We did have to put on booties and masks. There were eight of us, James, Sheri, Alex, Shayna, Ben, Max, Evan, and I. The things I noticed and the things that were most beautiful. The highly polished floors in the entry, the baptistry with the twelve oxen, and the Celestial room with the chandeliers. There were new rugs and new upholstery on the furniture. I was grateful that they kept the murals in the endowment rooms. We went in the east side of the temple and left on the west side. As we were walking along Shayna and I noticed the flower beds and started picking out our favorite flowers. I loved the pansies, especially the deep purple miniature ones with light purple faces.

Before our parting of the way, we took some photos. Afterwards Sheri, Shayna, Alex, Ben, Max, and Evan walked over to the Creamery for ice cream. James went back to the truck and headed over to Darrel and Trina's. It's funny because when Sheri and I went to Provo's Creamery we saw Dr. Carpenter and his wife. This time they saw them again. They must love The Creamery as much as Sheri does.

We stopped at the Safeway near Darrel & Trina's to get some tea. They had Citrus Sunshine and Decaf Green Tea. We were both hungry and there was a little taco place at the end of the row so in we went. It's set up like Cafe Rio but the food was not nearly as good. We had tacos that were meh.

When we got to the house Rowan helped carry in our suitcases, Trina helped too and Lola was, watching TV, one of her favorite things to do. Her two front teeth are missing and I am so upset I did not take a picture! She is watching the Disney movie "Descendants." I sit down by her and she tells me about the characters. Mal has purple hair and Evie has blue. Lola is going to be Evie for Halloween. Her dad bought her a costume but she still needs to have blue hair. She said her mom is going to spray paint it. I hope the paint comes out.

James goes to bed early while I visit with Addy, when she gets home from her pasta party with her cross country team. Ruby gets home from her party and gives me a big hug. Trina and I visit. I tell her my Barbara Sayer story. She is laughing so hard she wants me to tell Darrel when he gets home. I gave Darrel a big hug before going to bed. He gets home around ten.

Restoration Proclamation
#6
We decalre that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, organized on April 6, 1830, is Christ's New Testament Church restored. This Church is anchored in the perfect life of its chief cornerstone, Jesus Christ, and in His infinite Atonement and literal Resurrection. Jesus Christ has once again called Apostles and has given them priesthood authority. He invites all of us to come unto Him and His Church, to receive the Holy Ghost, the ordinances of salvation, and to gain enduring joy.

Inklings
Our individual efforts don't necessarily require money . . .  they do require the guidance of the Holy Spirit and a willing heart to say to the lord, "Here am I; send me."
-Sister Sharon Eubank

Up at 3:57. Study, pray and try to be quiet because James is still asleep. By 8am I'm ready for a nap. It's going to take awhile to get used to this schedule. I hope I'm getting enough sleep. This morning at 9 I listen to Emily and Kristen Andrus on Inklings. Kristen and her husband are the former owners of Traegger's. Now it has gone public. Kristen talks about helping those in need and giving service. She is very involved in Utah in helping refugees and others in need. She says there are five steps to mentoring: 1.) Make room. Find someone to serve and let them in to your life as they let you in to theirs. JustServe.org, listen to the Spirit, phone ministry.
2.) Create Connections - Be friendly all of the time. Connect with others on their terms. Invite. 3.) Sitting in peoples stories. Listen...this is where you heart changes. One loving adult can make a difference. Don't fix, just listen. 4.) Dig Deep - Even if it's hard, do it anyway. Show up. The Savior's love will come through you.
5.) Village building. Delegate. If someone needs a dentist, call your dentist friend and ask for help. Kristen's 9 year old daughter gave her mattress to a single abused mom and her baby. Build a team and invite others into the story.
Wow! This was so inspiring! As I listened to Kristen talk about the service she has given.

James borrows Pierce's 3 ton truck and dump trailer to pick up some cinder sand at Perkin's to fill in the pipelines. He doesn't want to just throw the dirt back in because of the amount of rocks in it. He says the rocks will push against the pipes and cause leaks.

I left around 12:30 this afternoon to go into town to pick up James's prescriptions as CVS. Their drive-thru is closed so I go inside and wait in line. The cost is $120 but these are medications he has to have.

I also went to Safeway to get flowers for Catherine H. I also got her a chocolate eclair. When I gave it to her she said, "Oh these are my favorite." She liked the flowers too. While visiting she mentioned that she had been in the hospital on Monday. Her back has been bothering her. She wants to get a back brace and I told her we had one she could borrow. If it doesn't work for her, she will order one.
We had a nice visit and talked about what a beautiful day it was. Around 70 degrees and very little wind. Kerri is teaching at Show Low junior high today. Kerri and Catherine are speaking in sacrament meeting on Sunday.

On the way home I stopped at the post office and picked up the mail. Chatted with Sister Diewald for a few minutes. By the time I get home I need another nap. Afterwards I feel pretty great and decide it's time to get some more steps. I finished my Netflix movie, "A Perfect Match" while walking. I also listened to my book, "Charming Artemis."

Later after dinner, James and I read from our book, "The Matchmaker's Lonely Heart." I tell him about the problem I'm having finding a particular piece for the ice cream puzzle I'm working on. He tries to find it and decides it must be gone.

This is a new puzzle and the piece we are
looking for better not be missing.
I checked the floor.

As part of my clean my closet campaign. I took one box out of the closet and sat it by my desk. I got a garbage back for throw away and two more boxes, one for put away, and one for give away and began organizing and sorting. I also filled my Goodwill tote to be taken to Goodwill in the morning when James goes to his treatment.

While I was walking and James was working on the puzzle we watched a Netflix movie, "Midnight at the Magnolia." I loved it and James really liked it too.

I love these pictures of Scarlett!

Restoration Proclamation
#5
We further witness that Joseph Smith was given the gift and power of God to translate an ancient record: the Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Pages of this sacred text include an account of the personal ministry of Jesus Christ among people in the Western Hemisphere soon after His Resurrection. It teaches of life's purpose and explains the doctrine of Christ, which is central to that purpose. As a companion scripture to the Bible, the Book of Mormon testifies that all human beings are sons and daughters of a loving Father in Heaven, that He has a divine plan for our lives, and that His Son, Jesus Christ, speaks today as well as in days of old.

Inklings/Work&Wonder
This week, ask the Lord in prayer how He can use you. Then pray for the strength to overcome the obstacles - mentally and physically - that might get in the way.
At the end of each day, write down how you were an instrument in the Lord's hand that day. It will not only help you to recognize the good you are doing, but also help you to see more and more opportunities to feed His sheep.

Up at 4:28. When James got up we had prayer before he left for his radiation treatment and then on to LaCroix's in Sun City to fix a plumbing leak. He will be home later today. He didn't think it would take long, but there were extenuating circumstances which caused him to get home later than he planned. His tools were gone at first and then he had to go to Home Depot to get some parts. What should have taken 30 minutes took over 3 hours.

I listened to "Follow Him" this morning. Dr. Alexander Baugh was the guest speaker. He is a Church historian and his specialty is the Missouri period. He says that Amanda Smith who's son Alma was shot at the Haun's Mill massacre, is one of his heroines. She had such great faith and overcame so many challenges to get her family to Utah. She is buried in the Richmond, Utah cemetery. Every Memorial Day he places a red rose on her grave.

Something Dr. Baugh said made me feel a little better about Lilburn Bogg's extermination order of the Saints in Missouri. He said in those days an extermination order meant to "remove from one's borders."  Boggs did not mean for the Latter-day Saints to be killed.
Something else Dr. Baugh said was that during their waking hours the prisoners, Joseph Smith, Hyrum Smith, Sidney Rigdon, Caleb Baldwin, Alexander McCray, and Lyman Wight, were upstairs. They came downstairs into the dungeon, to sleep.

Dr. Baugh says that Joseph Smith wrote 12 letters while in Liberty Jail. They are contained in the Joseph Smith Papers, volume 6.

I made a stew today. It started out to be a green chili stew but turned out to be a beef stew with carrots, potatoes, celery, onions, tomatoes, green chilies and stew flavoring. It turned out quite delicious. My problem is I always make too much. I can freeze half of it I suppose.

I started a new schedule today which requires me to get up at 4 am instead of 5. In the past I have spent two hours of the day walking, doing it in 10-20 minute increments and not really scheduling time for it, but doing it as an "add in" to my regular schedule. If finally occurred to me that this was not working very well. In my new schedule I have cut back on lunch and rest time and scheduled two hours for walking. I walked this evening while catching up on my watching of "Chesepeake Shores." I also listened to my audio book, "Charming Artemis." I was finished and showered before James got home. We listened to our book, "The Matchmaker's Lonely Heart." While listening I practiced my hand lettering. James was hungry when he got home and love the stew but complained it was too big. I told him we could eat it for several days.

My feet hurt.
