Jesus Christ, Prophecies about
Luke 1:70
As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
Book of Mormon
Alma 35:1-16
How are the people in Jershon an example of charity?
A: They welcomed those who had been cast out from the Zoramites for believing. This chapter is a parallel of today! Millions are being killed or cast out or forced to leave their homes because of violence or differing beliefs. We need to be like those of Jershon. We have been given counsel to look for those refugees who need us to welcome all and to love.

With meekness and humility of heart, He descended below all things and accepted being despised, rejected, and humiliated by men, having been wounded for our transgressions and iniquities. He suffered these things for all, taking upon Himself the sins of the world, thus becoming our ultimate spiritual caregiver.

The Living Christ
#6
Of the Living Christ, the Prophet Joseph wrote: "His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying: "I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father" (D&C 110:3-4).

Inklings
Affirmation:
I am coming to know the Savior in a way that is personal and meaningful to me - a relationship that continues to grow.

I ate a cookie today and then I threw the rest of them away. These are my sugar cookies that I love so much. I have go to get off sugar for at least six days out of seven.

James and I both started out feeling pretty lousy this morning. To help us to feel a little better I read a chapter from our book, "Beyond the White River." Faith finally agreed to marry Joe. It worked, we feel better.

I watched episode 4 of season 2 of "The Chosen." The name of this episode is Matthew 4:24. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

I was a little disorganized today because I got off to a slow start since I was not feeling well. I did manage to sweep and polish the kitchen, dining, and hall bathroom floors. They look so nice. Let's hope they last for another couple of weeks.

Pam brought us sugar cookies and banana nut muffins yesterday. She says she is going to the valley for a week. She says she is going to bring back lots of treats. I don't have the heart to tell her I am trying to slow down on the sugar and carbs. She says she's going to bake the perfect oatmeal walnut cookie and bring it to me. She is so sweet.

James and I both got a text from Debbie at the post office. She said: We put packages in a parcel locker for you on Saturday. James told her he would be there at 1pm, and he was. We had another mattress pad for our bed, my sonic teeth cleaner, two books about Eve written by Beverly Campbell, and some small notebooks. Whew!

I finally talked to Sister Diewald today about her ministering. I have been trying for almost a week. She and her husband take such good care of Sister Sayer in our ward who is handicapped. I also talked to Sister Brown on Sunday and she said she would teach Relief Society on August 8th. Thank you!

I got a call from Sheri today. She is taking Ben to Utah to work and was wondering if I would go with her so she won't have to come back alone. Guess when she's going? July 30th. Another reason I need to change the day we are feeding the missionaries. I won't to go with Sheri. I texted the missionaries but I have not heard back from them.

James went on a Luna ride after dinner. It was a beautiful evening.

I read from several of my books this evening, but not all. I added another book, "Eve and The Choice Made in Eden."

Jesus Christ, Prophecies about
Mark 9:12
And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and beset at nought.
Book of Mormon
Alma 34:17-41
What kind of things should we pray for?
A: I think we should pray about everything, big decisions, little decisions and everything in between. Heavenly Father loves us and wants to be a part of our lives.

The Living Christ
#5
He rose from the grave to "become the firstfruits of them that slept" (1 Corinthians 15:20). As Risen Lord, He visited among those He had loved in life. He also ministered among His "other sheep" (John 10:16) in ancient America. In the modern world, He and His Father appeared to the boy Joseph Smith, ushering in the long-promised "dispensation of the fulness of times" (Ephesians 1:10).

Up at 4:44 to plan and pray. Since I am finished with "Come Follow Me" and "Inklings" I used this study time before meetings to study the Relief Society lesson for next week, "Christ Is Risen; Faith in Him Will Move Mountains."
James has asked Anthony to come over for lunch after the block this morning. As I was passing through to go to the kitchen to get a drink, I decide to go over and open the blinds to the windows by the fireplace. While I am there I check for bat droppings on the chess game table and the couch. None on the table but a plethora on the couch. It takes me some time to  clean it all up. What if Anthony wanted to sit there, how embarrassing!

As we drove up to the church this morning we passed several children walking from the Vernon Circle. James asked me if I recognized them and I said no. The first people we saw when we drove into the church parking lot were Bishop and Sister Miller. They now live in Kansas and are here visiting. The kids we saw walking to church were their kids, Andyn, Catherine, Hyrum and Uriah. They had Sophie with them. I got to give Andyn a hug and Anne, Bishop Miller's wife, a hug. It was great to see them.

Today is high council Sunday. Brother Skousen from the high council, who has a brother in our ward, and Brother Borrego, his speaking companion, spoke on Elder Christofferson's talk, "Why the Covenant Path." How fun, since this was the talk I studied this week as part of my "Inklings" study.
Brother Borrego:  Quote by Russell M. Nelson: "Your commitment to follow the Savior by making covenants with Him and then keeping the covenants will open the door to every spiritual blessing and privilege available to men, women, and children everywhere."
The covenant path is the one path that leads to the Celestial kingdom of God. Through committed obedience, we are bound to God and receive Divine help. We can also gather with the Covenant people when we stay on the covenant path.
James took notes in his journal I got him for Father's day and I like something he wrote down during Brother Borrego's talk:
We need to be careful of how we judge ourselves as we walk the covenant path. As we love, respect and forgive ourselves it's easier to help and forgive others, love and forgive others.

Brother Skousen: Covenant is a promise between us and God. We are promised, if we are faithful, "All that the Father hath." Exaltation. Christ is our greatest example. We must be willing to make covenants through baptism, the sacrament, and the temple. When we choose to stay on the Covenant Path we avoid "unforced errors." Real joy comes from staying on the Covenant Path. Make personal covenants with Heavenly Father, as well as being obedient to all of His commandments.

Brother Applegate was the teacher in our Gospel Doctrine class. We had a discussion about the Holy Ghost and how He directs us when and how we should respond in a classroom situation. Brother A. showed a video of Elder Bednar who basically said: If we are prompted to do something good it comes from the Holy Ghost. Period.
We also discussed D&C 76.

As we were leaving the chapel, trying to hurry a little because we had invited Anthony for lunch, Brother Thompson stopped James and told him that Chuck had called an emergency meeting.  Anthony and I went out to wait in our cars. The sky was overcast and looked like it was going to rain any minute. Anthony came over and told me he was afraid it was going to rain out his way and he wouldn't be able to get home. He said he needed to go now. I said I was sorry and that we would have him over again soon.

James came running out just after Anthony left. When I told him that Anthony had left he looked so sad. I told him you couldn't blame Anthony and it was just a situation where circumstances took over.
We went home and James made the venison gravy and I put the biscuits in the oven and we had a nice lunch. We would have invited the Crane's over but Chuck told James that Kathy did not like venison. After our feast we both took a nap.

Brother Peeler came over this afternoon to help James with an indexing problem. I showed them how to run off a report to see everyone in our ward who has indexed this month.
Here are some things I came across while indexing: Henry Packman, Joseph Roadhouse who is an saloon keeper. Frank J. Patterson is the assistant superintendent at an idiotic asylum. Some things have changed for the better.

James wanted to watch a church movie so I found some things on YouTube for us to listen to. I stayed for awhile and then I went back to the bedroom to finish my blogging.

I started season two of The Chosen and watched two episodes: Thunder, and I Saw You.

I read 8 of my books this evening and was especially drawn in by the parallel creation in my book, "The Hidden Christ."

I'm missing one Charlie photo!

"What Has Our Savior Done for Us"?
President Dallin H. Oaks
First Counselor in the First Presidency
The magnificent and incomprehensible effect of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is based on God's love for each of us. It affirm His declaration that "the worth of souls" - every one - "is great in the sight of God". In the Bible, Jesus Christ explained this in terms of our Heavenly Father's love: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." In modern revelation, our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, declared that He "so loved the world that he gave his own life, that as many as would believe might become the sons of God."
Is it any wonder, then, that the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ concludes with the teaching that to become "perfect" and "sanctified in Christ," we must "love God with all our might, mind and strength"? His plan motivated by love must be received with love.

We solemnly testify that His life, which is central to all human history, neither began in Bethlehem nor concluded on Calvary. He was the Firstborn of the Father, the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world.

I got up at 4:45 this morning, probably because I went to bed so early. I listened to Brian Wilcox on "Teaching with Power." He did a compare and contrast of DC 79:2 and 89:3 and then said, the Spirit doesn't always tell us exactly what to do. I love his handouts and keep a copy of them in my "Come Follow Me" file.

At 9:00 this morning it was a gorgeous 68 degrees as I was working on my blog. I love how clean everything seems and how good it smells here because of the trees, after it rains.

I got up from the computer to walk but James asked me to read to him so I sat back down and read a chapter from "Beyond the White River."

After lunch we had a nice 10-15 minute rainstorm. While I was sitting in the recliner after lunch I looked up "The John Tanner" story on the TV and James and I watched it. It was only about 20 minutes long and was really good. John was taught the gospel by Jared and Simeon Carter and Jared healed his hurt leg. Jared Carter had the gift of healing and was such a remarkable missionary I was sad to learn that he did not endure to the end. He left the Church and never made it to Utah.

While walking this afternoon I finished "Becoming Lady Lockwood" and started a new book, "Fly Home to Me."

It's funny how here in Arizona we have been praying for rain and in some areas of Germany they are experiencing extreme flooding.

The Suns and the Bucks played the fifth game of the finals series which is tied 2-2. The Bucks seem to have the momentum and won again. The next game will be played in Phoenix and we will have to win if we want to stay in the race. Booker made over 40 points again.

I indexed this evening and read from my books. Here is something interesting to think about from the book, "Grace Where You Are":
This is referring to Saul on the road to Damascus. "What had Saul done to qualify for grace? If we are saved by grace after all we can do, and all we can do is believe in Christ, what, then, does it mean to believe?

A big dark cloud was moving towards us this evening from Springerville, keeping James from going horseback riding. It finally got here but there was no rain left in it.
