"Becoming More In Christ: The Parable Of The Slope"
Elder Clark G. Gilbert
Of the Seventy
We all have different intercepts in life, we start in different places with different life endowments. Some are born with high intercepts, full of opportunity. Others face beginning circumstances that are challenging and seem unfair. We then progress along a slope of personal progress. Our future will be determined far less by our starting point and much more by our slope.
"A Faithful Search Rewarded"
Elder Patricio M. Giuffra
Of the Seventy
The Spirit moved me profoundly as I learned of the Savior's declaration: "Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world."
Prayer Day 3
Let me keep a firm hold on my testimony of Jesus Christ and find a way to consistently keep a record of my personal experiences with His goodness, mercy, and grace.
We left for town this morning around 7:20. As part of our "Come Follow Me" study we listened to a talk by Sister Linda K. Burton in the car. I dropped James off at the hospital where he is getting some bloodwork done. I went to Walmart to do some shopping. It was easy shopping because the store was not crowded. I got some yarn for Tildy for her birthday because her mom says she has taken up crocheting. I also wanted a USB stick but they didn't have any so I stopped and ordered some on Amazon.
The internet and my computer are driving me crazy! I have to do control-alt-delete many times while working and sometimes that doesn't work so I have to restart the computer. It will be a wonder if I ever catch up on my blog at this rate.
I have been thinking lately about what helps me to keep myself positive and full of faith instead of fear. One of the things that I think helps me is the fact that I like to read positive, uplifting books, and watch positive movies, and listen to good podcasts that help strengthen my testimony of the gospel.
When I was first diagnosed with arthritis I spent a lot of my time in bed. It was then I started to read from the scriptures and from a book called, "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peele. Keeping my mind on a positive track helped me immensely.
Today I cleaned the floors in the hall, entry, bath, and laundry room.
James put away the Christmas tree and the entry nativity set. Christmas is basically put away. At first I told him I didn't want the tree put away because it would take too long. I envisioned myself doing it and painstakingly separating ornaments and putting them in boxes and taking the boxes downstairs. I'm grateful for James doing it for me.
I watched a Christmas movie, "Christmas House Two, Deck the Halls".
Ruth Gale called me. She is off her mission on the 21st. We are going to go to the temple the afternoon of the 25th. Darrel and Trina want to come next week which sounds great to me. Addy has Covid right now but she should be over it by then.
I consider James as one of my tender mercies. He is always willing to admit when he is wrong and says he is sorry.
I am enjoying the book "Balcony People." Balcony people are the people in my life who cheer for me without judging me. They affirm their love for me. James is one of my balcony people. I'm also reading "The Holy Covenants" and enjoying the things I am learning from reading this book.
