"The Things of My Soul"
Elder Ronald A. Rasband
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Second, "Love thy neighbour."
That is not just a good idea; it's the second great commandment. Your neighbors are your spouse and family, ward members, work colleagues, roommates, those not of our faith, those needing a helping hand, and, frankly, everyone. The essence of "love thy neighbour" is voiced in the hymn "Love One Another."
President Nelson reminds us, "When we love God with all our hearts, He turns our hearts to the well-being of others."
Third, love yourself.
This is where many struggle. Isn't it curious that loving ourselves seems to come less easily than loving others? Yet the Lord has said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." He values the divinity within us, and so must we. When we are heavy laden with mistakes, heartaches, feelings of inadequacy, disappointment, anger, or sin, the power of the Savior's Atonement is, by divine design, one of the things that lifts the soul.
Prayer 9
There was what James called, "a cow in our field" this morning. When he went to chase it away, he found out it was actually a bull.
think he thought he was hidden.
The chase is on!
Pierce came this afternoon at 1 o'clock for my temple recommend interview. When I called and reminded him about our interview tonight at six, he asked if he could come on his way home from working at the temple, hence the earlier hour. We sat at the high table while James was in the kitchen. The interview went well and Pierce said he would send my recommend to the stake. I am going down to the stake center tonight to have it signed by a member of the stake presidency.
James tracked mud on our bedroom carpet today. He always seems so surprised and wonders how it could happen. He did clean it up quite nicely though. On a more positive note, James received $2,200 from Mr. Joye, one of the men he is building a hangar for in the Casa Grande airport.
We left for the stake center this evening around 6:10 arriving at 6:50. There were two couples ahead of me when I signed in. I am so glad I got here early because tons of people filed in after I did. They were lined up in the hallway. My friend Rosie from the Vernon ward and her husband Rick came. They didn't stay but decided to come back on the 25th. Rick is getting up early to go with Pierce to get his container in the valley. When they went on Thursday Pierce's truck broke down so they did not make it to the valley.
I also saw another couple from our ward, Bishop Hall and his wife.
My interview was with President Smithson and it lasted less than 10 minutes. When I was finished he directed me over to Brother Rhoton who had run my recommend off on the printer and asked me to sign it. I'm good to go until January of 2024.
On the way home we stopped at Walmart and Home Depot. James went to Home Depot to get a new garage door opener. When we got home I only had 3,000 steps. How did that happen? James was very patient with me and we listened to our book while I walked. We went to bed around 10.
